I write a lot of paranormal books for someone who is afraid of the dark. And I wonder why I have to sleep with the lights on. Sometimes life is a teenaged B horror movie and I'm the one who investigates when the scary music is playing. But the voices are calling and resistance is… Yes. I am a Star Trek geek, too. And a fan of RPG’s. With a slight coolness factor since I've been told I'm allowed to join the pops.

Naw. I like being a nerdy girl :)

The Good
I'm a huge fan of paranormal thrillers. They surprise the readers all the time and The Nightshade Cases are the best example of such beautifully written books. I fell in love with this series when I read the first episode, The Freak Show. And I'm really happy to say that after reading this one, the second episode, my love has only increased for the series!
I absolutely loved the mystery. The character-connect developed over the first episode helped a great deal in this one, as the entire focus of the story was only on the plot (with due reminders wherever needed.)
The cliff-hanging ending is mind-blowing! I was literally pissed that the book ended where it did. I just wanted to get the next one right away (at 3:25 am... crazy right!!!) This series is a real piece of intellect. I just can't wait to read the nest episode, or for that matter, the entire set of episodes!
Following the pattern, there was a murder, some suspects, strange occurrences, great deal of friendship and an arrest... but that's not it because after all this when the paranormal element hits it makes you rethink the entire thing all over again! OMG, I really can't explain enough how good these books are and get this, they keep getting better and better with each episode!

The Bad
No, Nothing wrong here! (yea... it's from Cujo!)

The Romance
There was no romance, but there was a lot of the love amongst the three leads. It's really overwhelming to see how they take care of each other and how true their friendship is.

Conclusion
It's a must read for all paranormal-thriller readers. I can't stress enough on how good this series is. I'm eagerly waiting to get my hands on the next episode!

Welcome back t Silver City. Where the weird just gets weirder and the girls are back. Gerri is hot on another case of a body washed up on the shores. Rachel is ther examining the body trying to figure out what is going on. Along with Kinsey. They are called to a popular new nightclub called EXOTICA. Where they are looking for an explanation of the body count that seems to be rising as they speak. They are also trying to find who is selling the new deadly drug aptly named viper.

As they work things get weirder and weirder.

Patti has done it again in episode 2. We meet a couple of new characters in this episode. Cici, Gerri's shrink, but I believe there is more to Cici and she is going to be very useful to Gerri when she realizes there is more to her . Then there is Julian Black and Simone. There is something very sinister with these two. Especially Simone . She has taken a interest to Dr. Kinsey. I hope that it turns out good not bad. The characters are getting better and better. The girls are becoming more and more complex as they grow. Patti is taking us on such an adventure. There is a cliff hanger in this book but holy what a cliff hanger and I am thanking the gods that I only have to wait till next Friday to get another fix.

Patti has written these books like you are watching a tv series. I am so liking this concept, She does it so well. The twists and turns keep you reading, The best scene so far I love it when Gerri finally turned around and just pummeled her partner. Who which I will tell you is a leech and a pervert in my opinion. I am thinking the only woman he hasn't hit on is Kinsey cause she is a civilian.

These books are starting to be my favorite summer indulgence. I curled up on my lounger the other day with an iced coffee and just started reading. Nothing would stop me from finishing the book. The action is great and the characters are driven and complex but yet easy to relate to .

So if you are thinking of looking for a summer read . I say check out the NIGHT SHADE CASES . I will say you will not be disappointed at all. They rock

Bodies wash up on the Silver City beach all the time, but this one is different. Detective Gerry Meyers is once again hot on the case with the help of medical examiner Dr. Ray Hunter and anthropologist Dr. Kinsey DanAllart. For this new case to be solved, they will need to uncover the dangerous secrets that led to the deaths at a popular new nightclub, Exotica. Will they deduce a logical explanation for the murders? Or will they uncover a darker and deeper conspiracy hiding the truth about what is lurking on the streets of the Silver City?

The hints and teases of a supernatural conspiracy hiding within the pages of this series is one episode away from making me insane with the thirst (haha) for knowledge and information about what the heck is going on! I must know how all of these weird happenings are all threaded together before I lose my mind. Whilst I still adore the three main characters, the absolutely stubborn-headed Gerry is going to be the death of me, just admit that there is something not normal going on ok, thanks. The writing is my favourite part of this series because it is always so vivid in detail in my mind, it really makes me feel like I am the director of it. I am really starting to feel the anticipation of a fantastic and awesome supernatural reveal, but it really needs to hurry up because my mind can't handle the jittery excitement!

Yes, okay. They’d encountered weird.

The three of them had enough “weird” to last Gerri a lifetime. Whoa! This series or stories or episodes, regardless what you want to call them, they are awesome. I have read the first 2 episodes now and they are my first time ever reading stories that are the equivalent to TV episodes of your favorite show and boy am I digging them. I like that each book solves that “case”, while also building on the overall storylines, just like a TV series would. Patti has done a fantastic job keeping the stories interesting, hinting at lots more to come & it keeps you wanting to solve all of those mysteries and find out those secrets those girls have kept deeply hidden within. Speaking of which, I love how they are great friends and even though their jobs, talents and knowledgeable expertise all lay in different areas – Detective Geraldine “Gerri” Meyers, medical examiner Dr. Rachel “Ray” Hunter and anthropologist & college professor Dr. Kinsey DanAllart – they are each able to contribute almost equally to solve the cases together, regardless if anyone else likes it or not! This is a really great overall storyline Patti has going here and I can’t wait to keep reading to see where this is going to and how things will play out. OK OK!! I also want to know if any of my guesses are correct too!

I received this book for an honest review.
Episode two picks up where Episode one left off, Gerri is still in denial and Ray and Kinsey are wondering how to push her past it. Of course life moves on and enter another case with mysterious circumstances when young college co-eds are dying from unknown causes with puncture wounds in their necks. How long can Gerri keep denying things aren't the norm in Silver City? Will Kinsey and Ray find the answers they seek?
These books are like reading a screenplay for your new favorite TV show. The more I read the more I find myself wondering just what is lurking on the streets in Silver City. It's also hard to not get attached to the girls, they each have their strengths and weaknesses but are best when they work together, coincidence??? This book too was a fast fun read that kept you turning the pages to see what twist would come down the pipe next.
This book is a standalone in some ways in that the case it involves is solved during the episode but like your favorite tv show the overall story of the characters isn't complete and you're left with just enough questions to want to pick up episode two! Also because it's a series it should definitely be read in order or you may be lost on some things.

If you are a fan of Rizzoli and Isles or Castle, this series is for you.

I do suggest you begin with episode one because you don't want to miss a minute of this series.
Episode one introduced us to the ladies whose talents are used to solve the crimes and mysteries.
In Episode two, the body count is adding up fast. Puncture marks on the neck would draw an obvious conclusion, but vampires aren't real, are they? What really happened to the bodies and files from episode one?
We meet a few new characters in this episode and see more of Detective Gerri's anger issues.
We also learn more about Kinsey's emotion state.
I like how we are getting to know them better and seeing them change as result of their experiences.
This episode does not have a clear cut wrapped up ending. It leaves us with heart pounding anticipation of episode three!
I was gifted a copy of Exotica in exchange for my honest opinion.
I am breathless waiting for this series to continue.

So…Episode 2. I’m assuming things progress slower when it’s written like it’s a TV show. I kind of like it. It takes some getting used to since I’m used to fast paced books, but this is a great change of pace. It’s not overly slow, but a good pace. It keeps a great sense of development for each characters. They are all very relatable in a sense that some people accept the unexplained easier than others do. I look forward to the next episode already. At first I wasn’t so sure after reading the first episode, but this second installment definitely has me hooked. I highly recommend this to anyone that’s in to the whole mystery/crime scene investigation genre with a dose of the paranormal. They are easy to read and easy to get through. A job well done to Ms. Larsen!!

I received this book for free in return for an honest review. I’m telling you people…all of you CSI, NCIS, Castle, Charmed fans…you will love this series. The more you read, the more you get hooked!!!

Exotica: Episode Two: The Nightshade Cases ...
Patti Larsen

Patti Larsen has done it again in The Nightshade Cases as she brings the three friends together again on the search to solve another crime one, two, than three bodies turn up dead with what looks like vampire bites. The owner of the nightclub Exotica claims it is a new designer drug called Viper. Each of the three friends approach the murders from a different point of view but each one thinks it has something to deal with the paranormal. Now they are going to have to work together again to figure out what or who is causing the killings as well as how the club Exotica is involved. Lots of little twists that make it a fantastic read. Can’t recommend this series by Patti Larsen enough. Loved reading it and all I can say is get your copy now and join these three in trying to find the truth in what is really happening at Exotica.

The Nightshade Cases just keep you wanting more... I received this copy in exchange for an honest review (I am never anything but) and let me say you will not be disappointed in picking this series up. The books just keep getting better and better.

Welcome to Silver City - reminiscent of old world detective novels from the 1950's the gritty underbelly of Silver City is what we see thru the eyes of Gerri the cop, Kinsey the anthropology Professor and Ray the Medical Examiner. These three women were drawn to each other in college and now years later they find themselves all in the same town.. Hmmmmm... Is something or someone drawing them there, or is it just a coincidence? Gerri doesn't believe in those, and the three women find their careers intertwining.

I don't know what will happen, but I can't wait to read the next installment of, The Nightshade Cases...

Still lovin' the 3 women (main characters) Gerri, Ray, and Kinsey in part two of this serial. Jackson is an arrogant jerk and I still think he is hiding something, just haven't figured out what yet. This story has a strange way of administering street drugs leaves you wondering if there are truly vampire out there. I am getting more and more curious as I read more of this serial on Gerri's abilities and what the 3 women are exactly, I hope as the serial unfolds I will get more of who and what they are. This story takes you on yet another crazy kind of ride. It reads a lot like watching it on TV. Can't wait to read the next one in this series.

I was given a copy of this for an honest review.

Ms. Larsen has done it again! She's mixed up wonderful characters, with mystery, murder, mayhem and a little paranormal activity to boot. This is the second story in a series and I love how she's keeping the reader guessing on exactly "what" the main characters are. We know of their abilities, but are they human and if so, why do they have the abilities they do? Ms. Larsen's books keep you turning page to page and wishing each story was longer. They all seem to end too soon (not to say they are short books, but you just want the story to go on and on....!)

Kudos to Patti! One of my favorite authors and I can't wait for installment 3 to come out!

I received a copy of this book for an honest review. I don't know how she does it but Patti's writing just gets better and better!! It was great getting back to Silver City and the girls! I read this in two sittings-I would have read it in one but I had to get some sleep before going to work! I love the way the hint of the paranormal is there but you cant guess yet what is coming. Has me completely hooked and I cant wait for the next book!! Would highly recommend this series.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I found this to be a short, quick read. As others have mentioned, the series is written in a format similar to a TV series, so there's a crime to be solved within the confines of the book coupled with ongoing mysteries that will (I assume) be resolved in later books. I am looking forward to reading the next one!

This is the second episode in the nightshades cases series. This book is suspenseful from beginning to end. The ladies are caring and are always looking out for each other. I liked that it was fast paced, suspense and not romance. You are left with more questions at the end. But they are the good kind. The ones that makes you want to keep reading. Can't wait for more.
