I don't quite know what it is that doesn't work for me with this book. Maybe it's that this was written in the 90s and here in 2023 we've seen the mess that anti-vaxxers make of things. Maybe it's the fact that this book spends a lot of time warning you about people who will try and sway you to their own way of thinking with guilt and emotional manipulation, while doing the exact same thing. Maybe it's that it feels like another amateur attempt to redesign society with the worst combination of little research, libertarianism and New Age ideals that I've read recently.

While this book may well have been a breath of fresh air and thinking when it was written, to me it hasn't aged particularly well. While we've all seen the impact of capitalism and modern society, many of us have also seen the negative impacts of libertarianism, and see that it's not the solution either. I could not recommend this book.

Both this book and Anarchic Harmony have been sitting on my bookshelf since the 1990's so I decided it was time to dust them off and take them for a spin. So much has changed since first reading this work and yet so much of what William J Murray had to say has been validated.
