I would argue that this is more than a beginner's book. It is that too; there is some very basic information about choosing, clearing and programming crystals. The book is divided into two sections: crystal foundations and crystal applications. The first section contains the more basic information. Even here there is information that was new to me such as how crystals work, opening your palm chakras and establishing a shamanic cord to the Earth through your earth star chakra. The second section includes more advanced information and exercises with gridding, healing, protection, aura and chakra clearing, earth healing and expansion of consciousness. I would say this book shines because it covers so much ground; there is much presented to keep one busy for quite a while. Two downsides for me is 1) though the bread of topics is wide, each one is only given a limited space. If you want more you'll need to look further and 2) the number of crystals one would need to try all the exercises is large. The author suggests some options using photographs from her cards or other books but that doesn't feel right to me.

Very detailed, but at the same time it felt lacking. Covers the basics (choosing, cleansing and attuning), Some crystal grids, tonics, etc. Then beyond-beginner topics like opening your palm chakras and activating the earth star chakra, even mentions the spleen chakra. But the descriptions and uses for each crystal felt like they were just touched on lightly; they feel very general.

I am also averse, for some reason, to all the trademarked crystal names.

I still do like this book (it is Judy Hall after all, Grand Dame of crystals). It is a good reference. However, the way it is organized would need a lot of flipping back and forth the pages if you had the paper copy. I am glad to have the EPUB to be able to quickly search for keywords when I need to look something up.

For casual reading (and re-reading!), an overall more friendly book with a similar approach but more warmth and personality is Krista Mitchell's Change Your Energy: Healing Crystals for Health, Wealth, Love Luck.

Book is good. Has lots of different and useful information obviously about crystals. This was different to other books I have read and is set out more like a book with lots of info and had chapters with good, in-depth information.

This book is a useful guide for people who are new to crystal healing, and a good refresher for those like me who sort of dip in and out of it.

There are some really good tips and info in this book, but it didn't call to me as a resource worth buying. Past lives did pop up, although the book wasn't based on that. It gives lots of good ideas of what gems or crystals are good for. No pictures, since this is more of a resource for how to use crystals instead of identifying them.
