I really do not know where to start with this review. I thought this was going to be hot. I liked Jamie even before the book started. He was not mentioned much in the first book, only as a mediator for Mick and Allie, but he piqued my interest. He was confident and knew who he was and able to convey that. He was responsible, sensual, careful, and knew how to get things done. I figured he needed a strong woman by his side to submit to him. However, the author failed to bring that character into his own book. I did not picture Jamie as hot. The author did not do a get job of presenting a mental image. I thought he would be a Scottish firecracker. All I pictured him being was a tall, skinny guy with abs and a nipple piercing.
I usually get my first impressions of a person from when they are first mentioned. Summer Grace was a blip in the first book, but I knew she was not going to be the one to compliment Jamie. I was totally right. I made my final judgment of her in the first 12 pages. I did not like her. Summer Grace is a slut, even from a young age. At 14, she knew how to suck cock!!!??? What 14 year old knows how to do that? At 15, she was crawling into Jamie's bed on family vacation trips trying to seduce him???!!!
The pairing of these 2 characters did not work for me. Jamie needed a strong, no nonsense woman. Jamie stated that he was in love with her at the age of 14. I do not think that love at that age is genuine. What 14 year old knows about true love? It made no sense. The chemistry was not there. Jamie said that it had always Summer Grace that he was meant to be with. There had been no sexual interaction between them. He had been fantasizing about her for 16 years. Why? What is it with this author having characters that have not had any sexual experiences but waiting long periods of time for one person?
The romance and BDSM did not mesh well together. The sex scenes were putting me to sleep. They got repetitive. Jamie talked too much in these scenes. It got irritating. Instead of talking about what he was going to do, he should have just been doing it. Once again in this author's book, I did not feel the Dom/sub relationship. That dynamic was lost on them. She was just complying because she wanted to be with him. I did not see the development of trust in the relationship. It was not natural. These characters were just another Mick and Allie. Summer Grace was going to be whatever Jamie wanted her to be because she liked him a lot.
Jamie and Summer Grace were weak characters. Summer Grace was feeble. I came to that decision because she cannot stick to resolves. "She decided right then that she had to find a way to let go of her juvenile obsession with him or she's spend the rest of her life alone." She said that but like ten minutes later she was having sex with him. She has no self-control over herself and it shows her immaturity. She also blamed her brother's death on her not being with Jamie. Really? That is just sad. Then she had trust issues. For what reason? She had not allowed herself to get close to anyone because she was stuck on a man for 16 years. It also seemed like she wanted to chase Jamie for the rest of her life and not really have him. The relationship was presented to her on a silver platter and she doubted if she deserved it. Oh please!!! Then there was the back and forth of wanting and not wanting to be with him. It got sickening. She would get close to him and then panic. Jamie would do the same thing. Too many mixed signals. It was silly issues that showed she was not ready for a relationship.
Jamie was not better as a character. Like I said, I usually make my opinions of characters when they are first mentioned. I liked Jamie at first. My opinion of him just disintegrated throughout the book. Jamie was a typical man. He wanted to make the decision to pursue Summer Grace and take the initiative only after seeing her naked and watching her receive pleasure from someone else. Summer Grace knew that but continued to give in to him. He was also indecisive. Why think about another woman while making a covenant before God with the woman he decided to marry? That was disgusting. He also had his silly issue to get over. What was keeping him from getting close to Summer Grace. He had a notion that he had the kiss of death to people and relationships. He was too old for that kind of thinking. He had nothing to do with his twin brother's death or the death of his best friend or was the cause of his parents basically falling apart after his brother's death.
The writing was subpar. It got repetitive. Also, the description of things according to Summer Grace was bizarre. You have to read it to see it. It took away from the reading experience. The author tried to do the happily ever after but it was not believable. It was so ridiculous that it was funny. Two hurt people cannot heal together, in my opinion. Ms. Bradley missed the mark again on this one.
When Summer Grace's older brother died he asked his best friend to watch over his sister never realizing that Jamie had had feelings for Summer since she was 14. For years he's kept his promise to the man that was like a brother to him. He's watched over Summer and protected her. He's kept his distance from her knowing he could never show her his darker desires. That is, until the day he walks in to his favorite BDSM club and finds Summer in the middle of a scene with one of the club's DOMMEs. How can he stay away now? And how can he erase the picture of her, bent over, on the receiving end of punishment when it's been his greatest fantasy for years? Simple, he can't. Instead the embark on a journey of discovery and healing as they both come to terms with not only their suppressed feelings for each other, but with the guilt they both feel at having survived when Summer's brother did not.
As a reader when you pick up a book by Bradley you are guaranteed an incredibly hot and spicy read filled with chains (a personal favorite of hers), floggers and just about any other form of pleasurable punishment she can come up with. This time we got all that and more. The level of emotions brought out in Dangerously Broken leave you with your heart pounding not sure whether you should be reaching for the box of tissues or jumping in to take a cold shower.
A not to be missed tale of more than just a romance with elements of BDSM, Bradley shows us loss, guilt and ultimately healing all wrapped up in chains on a St. Andrew's Cross.
This was a really good read. Jamie and Summer always had an attraction to each other since they was 14. Jamie promised his best friend to take care of Summer. Summer Grace's brother dies. The sparks fly when Summer goes into Jamie's domain.
Eden Bradley/Eve Berlin has long been one of my favorite authors. Her style and voice grabbed me when I discovered Pleasure’s Edge, and I’ve been captive ever since. That may sound a bit over the top, but if you are familiar with Ms. Bradley’s work you’ll know exactly what I mean. You want to climb into her books and live there. Forever. Longing, lust, and flat out overwhelming desire wafts off of her characters! The mood she creates is reminiscent of those old black and white movies starring tragically tormented heroes and heroines. You know the ones...two people destined to be together but kept apart by fate, circumstances beyond their control, and/or just plain stubbornness.
Dangerously Broken is book 2 in the Dangerous Romance series. It can certainly be read as a standalone, however, I strongly recommend first reading book 1, Dangerously Bound. It not only establishes the mood for this series, which takes place in the magical city of New Orleans, it introduces characters who are intertwined in one way or another. Besides, Dangerously Bound is pretty damn awesome.
Dangerously Broken is the intense and emotional journey of Jamie and Summer Grace as they struggle to once and for all admit to and act on the mutual attraction they’ve felt for each other since they were teenagers. It’s been twelve years since Brandon, Summer’s brother and Jamie’s best friend, tragically passed away at the age of nineteen. Even though Jamie vowed to watch over and protect Summer, his powerful attraction to her has forced him to keep his distance over the years. Unfortunately, he can’t let go of memories of her adolescent attempts at seduction; climbing into his sleeping bag during family camping trips, or waking up to find her straddling him when he spent the night on their couch. Summer Grace was a sex kitten even at the age of fourteen. It was a struggle to reject her advances then. It’s going to be damn near impossible to resist her now when he discovers her sceneing at The Bastille, the BDSM club he has frequented for years.
He’d denied himself for twelve long years. How much was one man supposed to take? He’d been Saint Jamie for long enough. And maybe he was going to hell for it - for breaking his promise - but he had to have her. He couldn’t go on like this. She’d sealed that bit of fate when she’d shown up at The Bastille tonight.
Even though Summer Grace is thrilled Jamie has finally admitted to the undeniable chemistry between them and proposes they negotiate an exclusive Dom/sub relationship, she’s been rejected too many times not to be wary of yet more heartache. She can’t help but wonder if the only reason Jamie is now professing his feelings for her is merely jealousy and possessiveness. Despite the turmoil and doubt running rampant in her mind, Summer Grace simply cannot walk away. Because her submission to Jamie is organic, and second nature. When he possesses her body, pushes her limits of pain and pleasure, no one else in the world exists. And she knows no one could ever take Jamie’s place.
As the story progresses, Ms. Bradley cracks Jamie and Summer Grace open even more. The demons that have kept them from living life to its fullest, from allowing themselves to release the past and their guilt, are revealed. It’s an uphill battle at times, however, this is where Ms. Bradley shines. She has the uncanny ability to craft BDSM scenes which serve to advance the growth of her characters. Her interactions between Jamie as Dom and Summer Grace as submissive are so beautiful, so descriptive, so real, that she can just about have you experiencing a literary form of subspace. Crazy but true.
I loved both Jamie and Summer Grace. Jamie’s strength as a Dom is instinctual, which is the only kind of Dom you want. Plus, the man is hot as hell! Summer Grace is submissive to the core when giving herself to Jamie. It’s a beautiful thing to see - a strong, opinionated, capable woman whose trust and commitment to her Dom is without question. Don’t think these two are perfect by any means! They have their flaws, as we all do. As a matter of fact, I could relate to many of them. They both needed to be smacked upside the head at times, and that’s where Ms. Bradley has their friends step in with tough love and advice.
I always fall in love with Ms. Bradley’s novels and Dangerously Broken is no exception. From its New Orleans setting full of a dark atmosphere and mystery to the intriguingly flawed Jamie and Summer Grace, this novel wonderfully conveys the beauty of BDSM. No secrets, no lies, where pain equals pleasure, and trust is not to be handed over lightly. Thank you, Ms. Bradley for once again giving us a truly believable D/s couple. I really do like Eden Bradley, but I'll be the first to admit that this novel was really hard to read. It got really slow towards the middle and was more than a little boring. That nickname that the main character was called had me rolling my eyes every time it was said too. I really didn't like it at all. I wish that this novel has gone by a lot faster, because I hate reading a novel that takes this long. Which is a shame, because the plot of the novel was actually quite promising. The characters went very well with each other and I would have loved to see a little more action to this novel because of them. The characters would have reacted great together if it did. It was almost like all the chemistry they had was kind of bland to be honest. It was a major letdown from the first novel in this series and I really didn't like that at all.
In this novel we see the reappearance of Jamie as one of the main characters. Jamie's own past may have caught up with him quicker than he would have liked. Jamie's own image is that of a wickedly, sexy, bad boy that's not afraid to get a little kinky. It's because of the kink that he went to his favorite nightclub and saw his worst nightmare there. That nightmare being Summer Grace. He made a promise to her brother as he lay dying that he do everything he could to protect her, even if that means from himself. When finally confronted with Jamie face-to-face, Summer Grace wants nothing to do with him. She spent most of her life chasing after him and now that he finally interested in her she could care less. Jamie all but abandoned her after her brother died and without him she has no one left. Too bad Jamie doesn't give her a choice, because once those feelings were ignited again there was no stopping them. Now Jamie wants to be her DOM and with an offer like his there's no refusing him. He's exactly what Summer Grace has been waiting for her whole life and now that he's her's it almost too good to be true. Way too good in fact, because now Summer Grace is starting to doubt her feelings for him. And she's not the only one. Jamie is starting to do the same thing, which may just cause him to lose her forever.
This novel is simply a story about BDSM. Which for this novel is almost a really bad thing. There was little to no romance in this novel whatsoever, because the closest thing that I saw would have been the actual BDSM. This could be seen as romantic for a lot of people, but in this case it was just a let down from the actual plot. The beginning of the novel made the plot seem like it was going to be grand, but once you're halfway into it you start to become confused. Between this and the boring scenes, it wasn't equally boring novel. It took me over a month to read and that almost never happens. So as far of my recommendations go, I really wouldn't recommend that you read this novel. It has good BDSM scenes, but that's about it.
Jamie and Summer Grace have known each other since they were kids and while Summer Grace has always known she wanted Jamie, he thought he couldn't have her because of a promise he made to her brother who died when they were 19. This is a hot and sexy read with definite emotional points thrown in along the way. Both of them have faced death and the loss of their families due to those deaths so both have commitment issues. There is also a heavy BDSM overtone to the whole book that I really liked. The scenes seemed more real to me than other books I have read with the same content. I would definitely like to go back and read the previous book and will definitely pick up any books that come out after this one. The author has a way of threading the other character's lives into this story so you can almost see the next story setting itself up.
Book provided to Books and Warpaint in exchange for review.
DNF @ 25%. Boring premise. The couple get together immediately after the hero spends 12 years avoiding her as (what he perceived) as a dying wish from his best friend and her brother. I cannot stand that shit. He asked you to watch out for her and take care of her, never does the dying character in this situation say, "do not have legitimate feelings for my sister and date her." So annoying. The BDSM element was actually really on point from what I read however the dynamic between hero and heroine was overdramatic and pointless.
I thought this couple was rather boring. All the major "drama" happens before the story in the book actually begins, so there isn't much in the way of emotional revelations. The sex scenes were "tepid" compared to other BDSM romances I've read--and repetitive. I also wanted to puke every time she used the phrase "lovely brain chemicals" whenever Summer was having to endure pain tolerance--canes, spanking, etc. By the end of the book, I couldn't remember if Summer even had a job or any hobbies outside of being Jamie's submissive. He had his corvette and machine shop, but I wondered if this girl even had a life of her own outside of chasing Jamie her whole life.
So nice to see a kinky book written by someone who clearly gets it. The kink in the book is healthy and consensual, instead of sad and abusive. Light on plot, heavy on really hot stuff, with characters you can actually like.
Dangerously Broken is book #2 in the Dangerous Series and the first book I have read by this author. I was gifted a copy of this book to read for Gemma Reads Too Much.
I love BDSM/Dom/Sub/Sex Club books.
I love the kink and Sex and intensity and hell I REALLY love the fact that Dom’s tend to be extremely sexy alphas and let’s be honest all the Sex is a massive turn on lol.
Hmm but this book is well? Well it’s just plain weird!!!
I’m not sure if the story was written to pack out the sex scenes or if the sex scenes were amped up to try to make a long winded plot more interesting!!
I know I’m being a bitch about this book but I’m disappointed!!!
I had an ARC of this book and this can mean that it’s not the final edit. Usually this means there are minor spelling or grammatical errors.
Unfortunately in my copy the formatting was all over the place, there was a LOT of editing issues still to be addressed and it really affected my enjoyment of the book.
There are several characters in this book but I’d be surprised if I could identify them because they all were exactly the same. Even the main characters have no discernable unique ‘voices’. Now again this could be a result of the formatting/editing but even as I read the dialogue in my head it was monotone.
Summer and Jamie have this weird backwards, forwards dance going on and by the end I was ready to throttle them. They both have issues surrounding love and commitment but the banter that kept them going round in circles was more annoying than endearing!!
The Sex was the main redeeming feature in this book but even that would have been better if the infuriating chatter had been cut out and the couple allowed themselves to be consumed by passion.
Upsettingly I didn’t feel like the Dom/sub aspect was done that well, neither Jamie nor Summer ever seemed consumed by the ‘play’. Sub space is mentioned a LOT but whilst Summer was supposedly deep in sub space one minute but then she was able to have deep and meaningful conversations in the next!!!
I hate reading books that I don’t enjoy, I feel bad for not liking it but I just can’t help wanting to role my eyes at this book.
Dangerously Broken was not for me AT ALL and gets a dissapointing 1.5 stars from me.
For Jamie Stewart-Greer, BDSM is the perfect way to release the darkness inside him and use it for pleasure. But it’s getting more difficult to hide this side of himself—especially from the one person who elicits his most extreme, secret passions. When his best friend died, Jamie promised he’d watch over his little sister, Summer Grace. Summer is a nearly irresistible sex kitten who’s been after Jamie since she was fourteen—and she’s absolutely taboo. But now she’s hunting him in his territory—the Bastille, New Orleans’ most infamous BDSM club—and Jamie knows he’s in trouble. Summer is more than ready to indulge Jamie’s secret kinks, and as their relationship spirals into the darkest recesses of absolute pleasure, it only stirs her desire for more. If Jamie is willing to give Summer what she wants, it’s going to turn love into the most dangerous fetish of all.
My Review: I really hate stepping into the middle of a trilogy when I haven't read the first book. I was particularly lost at the beginning because the flash back scene didn't sit right with me and I wasn't all too sure where the heck the author was going with it. I wasn't able to finish the book even though I attempted to read it four times. I can tell a lot of thought went into the story and the writing was well done however Dangerously Broken just didn't work for me.
Jamie and Summer Grace have been in each others lives for years since they were little kids, Jamie was Summer's brother's best friend and the love of her life even at a young age, Jamie did many outings with Summer's family growing up, Summer put the moves on Jamie every chance she got, with every time ended with him pushing her away. Summer never gave up tho. Once Summer's brother passed away tho things changed, she didn't see Jamie as much and after years she decided she needed to let him go and move on with her life.. Then one day Jamie walks in the BDSM club and see's Summer in a submissive position, and he decides he wants her now for himself.
What I enjoyed most about Dangerously Broken is reading why he thought they shouldnt be together and seeing them finally come together and talk it out, it took some time for them both to feel comfortable to do so. But then things were great in their lives, they had each other, their memories growing up, healing their past together, their kink was even better when they were fully connected, and most of all Love!
This book is great. I would recommend this book to anyone who love's lots of Kink in a story, cause this story is full of BDSM, Learning to trust one another, falling in love, and learning the other person whom they had know most of their lives but needed to learn who they were today! Plus playful scenes in the Dom/Sub environment. If you like stories like this, then Dangerously Broken is a must!

Amazingly beautiful story of love, loss, kink, friendship, just gah this book had it all
Summer and Jamie have known each other since they were little. Having grown up together and Jamie being Summer's brother Brandon's best friend she was kind of off limits. Jamie has always had an attraction to Summer and of course Summer has always been in love with him. Summers brother ends up passing away at the age of 19 leaving them all devistated. Jamie made a promise to Brandon on his death bed that he would protect Summer so he has kept his distance.
Now 12 years later after learning Summer is into the same kink he is there is no way that he can stay away. His body as well as hers react to one another while their minds keep telling them this is wrong. Summers telling her Jamie will just leave like everyone else in her life and like he did before. While Jamie's is replaying the promise he made Brandon.
Can they both get over their broken past together? Does what they have prove to be enough to heal them enough for one another. Or will they continue to heal while making a relationship work??
This is book 2 in the Dangerous series but the first one I have read and makes me want to pick up book one and start reading it, which i will be doing shortly. Amazing writing Eden, well done cant wait to read more of your books in the future.
This was my first time reading anything by Eden Bradley, so I didn't know what to expect; let's just say she has a new fan now. This is definitely not a book for those that don't like explicit sex scenes or that don't know or understand anything about the BDSM lifestyle. What I liked about this book besides the super hot erotic scenes was the marvelous very well written complex characters Ms. Bradley created. Every character from the two protagonists to the secondary characters are exceptional. The main characters Jamie and Summer are childhood friends who's lives have been torn apart by loss and grief and guilt over promises made to a loved one who passed away. While on the surface both Summer and Jamie appear to be doing well and seem to have their lives in order, underneath it all they are both very broken emotionally. Each fighting an internal battle as to why they shouldn't love one another when it is only by loving one another that they both can finally heal. Ms. Bradley has written a heartfelt emotional story perfectly woven with very sensual erotica. It definitely stirs up many different emotions. If you like well written erotica with a lovely realistic love story woven in then definitely grab a copy of Dangerously Broken. You won't regret it!
Wow i loved this story!!! All the emotion between Jamie and Summer Grace from their past and their present can be felt through the pages of this book, amazing!!! Jamie was best friends with Brandon, Summer Grace's older brother until an accident caused heartbreak for everyone. Being 3 years older than Summer Grace he was always trying to push her advances away, even though he wanted nothing more than to take her up on her offers each and everytime. From the age of 14, Summer Grace was crushing big time in her brother's best friend and couldn't stop even when he denied her. Jamie is a Dom and enjoys playing at The Bastille. He has a hell of a shock one evening when he sees Summer Grace subbing for another Domme. It takes this shock for him to realize that he wants her, not to protect as Brandon's little sister, but as a beautiful young submissive woman. It has taken them 14 years to get to this point, but what will the future bring for them? Will Brandon finally open his heart to a love that is special and rare? Will Summer Grace accept that Jamie does love her? Will their past keep them apart, or bring them together? Reviewed by Tracy@LadiesOfLoveBookBlogAndGraphics
This is the second installment in Eden Bradley's Dangerous series. It stands well alone. It's a story of loss and a story of healing.
Jamie's best friend dies but asks him to watch over his sister. A job Jamie takes to heart and blocks would be suitors from Summer Grace. Although, he is also fighting his attractiosn to her at the same time and thinks that he is too dark for her and would hurt her even more.
Summer Grace is a live wire, trying to find her place in the world. She has feelings for Jamie but he keeps turning her away. Until Jamie sees Summer Grace submitting to a Domme in his favorite BDSM Club. (a bit cliche but it works) Jamie begins thinking perhaps there should be more to their relationship then being friends. Can Jamie get Summer to trust him and give herself to him fully?
I found the characters to be strong and well-developed, the sex (yes, sex it's a BDSM novel!) scenes are wonderful and don't slog down the forward motion of the story as a whole. That being said if you are looking for a wonderful erotic romance then this one is wonderful and full of steam!
"Growing up, Summer Grace Rae lusted after Jamie Stewart-Greer something fierce. But her older brother's best friend was strictly off limits. And in time, Summer convinced herself to forget about him -- until one erotic encounter.
"Jamie has a dark side, and his BDSM fantasies are the perfect way to explore it. But he's always hidden his extreme lifestyle from the one person who elicited his ultimate, forbidden passions. After all, Summer has been like a little sister to him for years -- until Jamie sees her at the most infamous kink club in New Orleans.
"Now, every taboo craving they've ever had is made real, in the flesh, sending them on a sensual journey of discovery. But as their relationship spirals into the darkest recesses of desire, they're both left breathlessly wanting more -- and love could be the most dangerous fetish of all." ~~back cover
Interesting tour of what goes on at BDSM clubs. I enjoyed the brief glimpses of New Orleans, since I lived there for a while. Other than that, the plot was transparent and sloppily sentimental. I couldn't be bothered to read either #1 or #3 in this series.

Dangerously Broken is an emotional, sexy story that I really enjoyed. It's the second book in the Dangerous series, but I followed it with no problem even though I hadn't read the first book. Both of the main characters have suffered and lost, and this book shows how love and trust can heal the deepest of wounds. The are some seriously steamy scenes in this book - it is HOT.
When Jamie's best friend died, Jamie promised to watch over his friend's little sister Summer Grace, and he's kept his promise. He has strong desires for Summer, but he thinks he's too dark for her. When he spots her submitting to a Domme in his favourite BDSM club he is shocked and angry, but then he begins to think that maybe she can handle him after all. Things soon get hot and sweaty, but are these two really good for each other? And what about Jamie's promise?
The storyline to this book is interesting, and the main characters are complex and well written. It was a good, sexy story that receives four out of five stars.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.
Eden Bradley is one of one of the authors I know to read if I ever have questions on KINK or simply want a really good kinky read. This book was so good and checked all the boxes!
Jamie goes into his kink club and looks over and sees the little sister of his best friend. Just so happens he has had a thing for her for years but has not acted on it because he is into dark things and she has not shown that she is at all. He saw her with a Domme, naked and getting taken "care of". He leaves thinking she is still off limits.
Summer Grace knows what she wants and has decided to learn about it herself. She is no dummy she knows to go to someone who is trustworthy and that means friends and of course Jamie;s kink club.
For a HOT read, that tells things the way it REAllY IS.... I was gifted this book for my honest review and for my learning experience.
Jamie and Summer have known each other forever as he was her brother's best friend. Summer has pursued him for years, but he has resisted because of a promise he made to her brother before he died. Both Jamie and Summer have lost people close to them and her brother's death cut them both deeply. Their attraction to each other is sizzling and so scorching hot once they give in to each other. It only takes a moment at the club for Jamie to realize that Summer isn't a girl anymore and he wants her for his own. Theirs is a passionate and emotional story and I loved it.
In a word? Exquisite BDSM erotic romance from Eden Bradley. This novel is rife with passion, emotion, stinging conflict in the midst of this "best friend's little sister" trope, and enough kinky play to flavor this novel with a wonderful spice. (If you want your kink sharper and darker? Try Bradley's recent release "The Training House: Girl".) As always, Bradley gets into the minds - as well as the hearts - of her BDSM protagonists and the reader can easily understand their passions, guilts and fears. Beautiful writing, pulsing romance, and insight into how our edgier desires can heal us. A must not be missed novel.
Dangerously broken is beautifully written story by Eden Bradley. This a great story with complex and emotional characters with a solid story line. I was drawn to Jamie and Summer Grace’s story, two broken souls that finally connect and find each other. This is a definite must read for anyone who loves a great story with a healthy dose of kink and BDSM.
I am becoming a huge fan of this author.
