I received this book in the second exclusive book box. And I must say, Mrs. Coleman has outdone herself again. This book is a continuance to her book “Birds in The Sky”. It follows the life of Charlie, Demi, Stassi, and Day Night.
When Demi met Charlie in “Birds in the Sky” there was an instant connection. They fell in love quickly. Demi felt a connection with Charlie that he had never felt with anyone, not even his wife. He allowed her to invade his space in a way that no one had ever done before. He knew she was the one. after finding out he was married, Charlie ended things. After a year of no contact, the now divorced Demi comes back into her life and asks her to marry him. They are supposed live happily ever after right? For two people who have gone through so much so fast, there has to be a happy ending ahead, right? This book picks up after these two get engaged. Charlie and Demi fell in love so fast and operated on a level that did not take anyone else’s feelings into consideration.. Does this love of theirs have consequences? Absolutely.
Stassi is a smart, independent business woman who is also the sister of Charlie. She and Day Night, fine ass, single ass, playboy rapper nigga, have had a few run ins in the past but Stassi never was one to mix business and pleasure. She is the type of woman who wants to get it on her own. When Day Night offers her a proposition that she can’t refuse, will she accept it and cross those boundaries or will she turn him down and keep her dignity?
I loved everything about this book. If you’re apart of #AshArmy then you’re probably stuck in Ethicland just like me. It was nice to take a detour with this book though. I love that Ash intertwines other characters from different books of hers into her other books.
We got to see a different side to the good pastor in this book. Wheww. 😩
If I could give 10 stars, I would. This book hit home for me. Infidelity, divorce, suicide attempt was like Déja vu. My heart was so heavy for Lauren. Losing a spouse of many years to his indiscretions, and flaunting it in her face and around her child (yes I felt that and remember all too well). My heart hurts like hell for DJ😭😭😭. As I’m writing this review I’m trying my best not to revisit my past. I just think God my son is still with me.
Now back to the book. It definitely needs a follow up book. I hope all the characters get through this. Whew this was heavy but I truly enjoyed it. I’m definitely purchasing this book if it prints.
Time means nothing when you find the right one. Whereas Lo provided Demi routine and predictability, Charlie provided him life.
Is it true that love and power for women can’t exist?
Everyone has a down moment. It’s all about how you bounce back. “Can you make something out of nothing? That’s where you show your value.”
Crazy how both Charlie and Stassi felt like they weren’t loved by the opposite parent.
Act in the accordance of the lord.
“Women will follow and allow the man to take the lead if they can trust. “A woman goes against the grain when they don’t trust your manhood.”
“Be careful how you speak about yourself. Some of that misery you’re attracting.”
“Take everything that a man offers you.”
So I have been dying to read more on Demi but to think he thinks every woman has an agenda and not to trust these hoes I am not sure how I am feeling about him at this point. I will say he is very smooth definitely a ladies man.
“Once you learn to leverage what you have against what these niggas want, you can control the win.”
Is Demi really in love with Bird or is it her youth and the fact that she provides everything he has been missing but he may have been able to get the same from Lauren who adapted to him.
DJ is bad as fuck and just like his damn mama. Charlie is right when he spoke ill will to the media about his feeling of Charlie he should have gotten his ass whipped.
Day!!! Day!!!
Demi is your typical guy wants his cake and eat it too. He loves Lauren after seeing Pastor Nyair show her some attention all the while giving all of his attention to Charlie.
I don’t like Lauren how she is poisoning her son against Demi and condoning his behavior when he is just spewing her hate.
Where is my man like Ethic, Nyair?
You do have to communicate I do like that advice Lo gave Demi.
Day is just smooth with it as well.
I absolutely love Charlie!!
We as women have to find someone that is for us and loves us unconditionally!!
Women friendships are very much needed.
Dj is too damn bad and too damn grown.
Day is too logical about everything and what a way to check Demi at the hospital about his son being there.
I am so glad we got to see Day soften and tell his feelings about Stassi!!
Nyair is the man and a true example of that we all fall short of the glory of God but we don’t let that stop us in our walk with God!!!
I am not happy with Demi and how he handled Charlie at the hospital shutting her out all because of Lauren. Hell did Lauren forget she was caught with Nyair and that had a trickle down effect on her son. I can’t stand Lauren she is messy!!!
This book had me turning pages like a mad woman. I made the mistake of laying down an reading this book. It’s currently 5am, and I haven’t gotten an ounce of sleep lol. I was just that engulfed in the story line. The characters were on point, and it was nice to see some of them again. I thoroughly enjoyed the book even though the ending had me mad as well. Not really, I was just mad as hell because it ended. I am waiting very impatiently for the next one lol. If you haven’t read AGDEFN, you are missing out on life!
Ashley has done something special to me writing about 2 obnoxious characters: Demi and Day. I just don’t like Demi at all. Day I grew to like but both of them had made me roll my eyes hard multiple times. Like they literally irk my nerves. My disdain for them is the reason for the 4 stars lol. The storytelling is good. I want to see what happens next so hopefully Book Box 3 will do that.
I am enjoying this series. It’s a good page turner. It had to many sex scenes for me. I was not prepared for the ending. I am looking forward to the next book to see what happens.
4.5 ⭐️ I just don't know how Ashley does it. She's sick with a pen. Characters you morally don't like but unconsciously routing for. A little secret. The Okafors and Nayair come through in this book. Ahhhh gotta love it. 🙂
MS. ASHLEYYYYYY. EXCUSE ME?! WHAT???! WHAT. THE. FUCK. WAS. THAT. Got me feeling so deeply for all these fictional characters. This whole book? I FELT THAT SHIT!!
First 5 star read in a hot minute. Immediately diving into the last book of this series.
First off I listened to this on audible... Wesleigh Siobhan needs an Oscar for her performance.. I'm so gutted by the ended and the emotions.. gosh not just the hospital but also Charlie. Love stories that can pull me into not just the passion, but the love, the laughter and dang even the pain definitely deserve a round of applause.
I kind of love and hate I previewed the reviews and even the description as it let's you know what to expect is going to happen..I needed that because I'm an empath and would've probably balled my eyes out, but on the flip I knew what was going to happen and I still cried.. Lol I'm just sap 😢🫣
There is so much going on in this 2nd book in the series, but surprisingly and appreciatively the writing is cohesive with enough introduction if you accidentally didn't read the first book in the series (Birds of a Feather), you'd be ok. But I'd advise reading the first book first you'll definitely follow the story and the feelings better.
I also liked how there were multiple character storylines happening and I could keep up and even root for the different characters in this story it felt like every couple character had main character energy but you still knew who were the main protagonists.
I may pause for a bit before book 3 because I'm really emotional about the end of this book and the foretelling of the emotional rollercoaster book 3 may be about to take me on.
If you read this definitely take care of you 🫶🏾... Whew! 🫣

I have a love hate relationship with A.A. I started with her ethic series and somehow got here. Let me tell you these last 2 books have completely pissed me off but in a good way 😭. I am so mad with all of the trauma and gaslighting but so happy with the bits of love that is shown. Granted I still hate Demi and Charlie together maybe that’ll change in book 3 for me. I doubt it though, the way he gaslights her and commands so much from her but does the opposite makes my tail itch lol. I hope she leaves him and his toxicity. Charlie is correct in her hesitation to not let Demi in by having a baby from him. He runs back to his ex wife when he feels low. He throws things he’s done for “her” back in her face as if he didn’t have a choice in the matter. He’s selfish and highkey disgusting. I love how Stassi stands on business compared to her sister though.
The end of this book though was a traumatic chefs kiss. I want to jump right into book 3 but the world wind I know it’s going to take me on has me scared. Will it bring the family together or continue to tear them apart 😭.
I also agree Wesleigh deserves a freaking Oscar for her performances in these books..playing all parts she really is one of the best to do it.

Phenomenal, if I could re-read a book everyday for the rest of my life, it would be any book by A.A. Her pen game is on another level, she is one of the best at this 21st Century Urban Lit game.
Now that I've given my flowers, let me get to this mfing review. AGDEFN is a book that is focused primarily on these people: Demi. Charlie. Anastassia. Day. Lauren. And the people in their lives.
I don't want to give too much away, but it was worth the wait and worth the read. Everything came together seamlessly. There was love, there was passion, there was hope, there was trust, but y'all know the flip side is the real side. There was also broken trust, broken hearts, failures, death, heart aches, and so much more.
In Short:
Now, y'all this book had me in my feelings. I finished almost a month ago and it took this long to write this review, because it was emotional, beautiful, sexy, amazing, OHMYGODdidtheyJUST??? crazy. It was so good, so smooth, so dire.... because your actions have consequences. Accountability is a mfer on both sides.
4.5 ⭐️ The book is a raw and unflinching exploration of grief, heartbreak, and the desperate search for solace. The characters journey through loss is messy, painful, and at times downright selfish—but it’s also achingly human. Ms. Antoinette doesn’t offer us neat resolutions or tidy morals; instead, she dives headfirst into the darkness, showing how loss can warp us, consume us, and leave us feeling isolated in our pain.
The writing is gripping and painfully honest, pulling you into their world and refusing to let go. It’s a story that stays with you long after the last page. Highly recommend for anyone ready to confront the complex, often ugly truths of what it means to grieve loss of love.
All I can say is I am all in on the good Pastor. I need more of Lo and Nyair! This isn't their series but their story is fire. Not going to lie, the rest of the story was ok but I was all in on these two. I am sad that DJ is gone, but I think it brought a lot to the story and eager to see what happens next.

A really good book. So sad about DJ though. All of the storylines. This loss shapes everything. Overall, the story felt light and deep and was quickly paced. The thing about AA is even when I don’t agree with the characters' beliefs or actions, I always understand on a human level exactly where they are coming from. I like this book better than the first in the series because I just couldn’t stand Demi although he still pissed me off in this book as well but I was not in no way prepared to be cryin with this book, Day was an lil butt hole but I’m looking forward to book three to see how him and Stassi play out… aw yea an I always knew Livi was a lil whore lol
I was unsure of this one because I am not a fan of Demi's controlling and possessive ways. But the story was well written. I didn't expect the ending. Very deep looking for the next book.
I read this for a book club, and it was absolutely not what I was expecting. We trusted the note on the book that said this could be read as a standalone and that it would be focused on Stassi and Day, but neither of those things were true. This is a very clear sequel that is focused on Charlie and Demi's story from the first book that we didn't read. Stassi and Day both felt superfluous to the main story. They barely interacted with Charlie and Demi, and their story should have been an actual standalone novella. Everyone in this book is toxic, but not in a fun way. Demi and Day both sucked from the jump and refused to listen to the VERY CLEAR COMMUNICATION from Charlie and Stassi. Both of these women state their needs and boundaries, and Demi and Day both stomp all over them. Also, this book needed a trigger warning for child death. I don't know if something like that is normal for Ashley Antoinette's books, but I was not expecting it at all.
Demi is selfish I despise him! I hate when he says “say man” it irks my souls! He wants his cake and eat it too!
Charlie’s young and doesn’t need to be with Demi. Demi ran to his ex wife when it was trouble in the relationship with another woman. The audacity! Charlie was inconsiderate to be asking Demi about coming home to her minutes after learning of the death of his child. Charlie needs to find herself
Lauren is hurt and has every right to be but I’m so happy she is finding her happy in Ni, who I’m so happy has resurfaced in this book. Im hurt for her over losing her son I wasn’t expecting that.
Stasi and Day: I love them both. Day messed up with his works but is fixing it. I want more from them.
DJ was a hurt little boy but him saying what he said about Charlie to the masses he needed an a$$ whipping. At the end his hurt spilled over and led to his death which was sad.
Of course I was super happy for my Ethic family cameo! I need more of them.

Charlie continued to irritate me, she was irritating in the first book and still in the second book. She needs to grow up. I was glad the second book spent time on the other characters because Charlie and Demi’s story was my least favorite. I rolled my eyes every time Demi was asking Charlie to sing or burn him, just stupid. The book also spent less time with the sisters communicating, like when was Charlie going to tell Stassi that Lauren gave her her client list back. That was important information, did she not know how much Stassi was struggling and needed work asap? Probably not because Charlie was selfish and all about her, the author didn’t show where Charlie was therefore her sister at all. And the end had me discusted. Like girl shut up. This man was going through something traumatic and didn't you say, “f*** your son” in the first book? I can’t with this girl. All she was thinking about was herself and their relationship and not him at that moment.
This book took me on a rollercoaster of emotions, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Here are my main thoughts:
- I love Demi and Charlie, but they moved a bit too fast, driven straight by emotion and very little logic. But I guess that’s what love is.
- I understand Stassi’s dilemma and her not wanting to be made to feel cheap in the arrangement offered by Day. Still, I fear that if it had been me, that man would’ve worn me down eventually.
- I’m not sure how I feel about Day yet, but I do love that he doesn’t take without giving something in return.
- Lauren, the woman that she is, deserves all the love, affection, and healing that Ny is prepared to give.
- Demi really left Lauren holding the bag after their separation, and then had the nerve to blame her in the end.
- Poor DJ is a true reflection of how the sins of a father affect the children.
This one was a bit harder for me to get through. It started off really slow and honestly didn’t fully pick up until the very end. Compared to book one, there was a lot more focus on the sexual scenes, which just isn’t really my preference when I’m reading. I wanted more depth in the story itself.
The plot also felt a little all over the place at times, which made it harder to stay fully engaged. That said, I kept going because I’m invested in Demi and Charlie’s story and wanted to see how things played out.
Day is still my favorite character, hands down. Lauren, on the other hand, is completely insufferable, and I found myself getting irritated every time she popped up. I do love Nyair as well, so those moments helped keep me interested.
Overall, this one didn’t hit the same as the first book for me, but it wasn’t a total miss either. I’m giving it 3 stars.
This is a 6 star read. My emotions are all over the place. Just when I thought things were gonna smooth out and improve, they didn’t! Dammit Ashley! Why must you do this to us! I mean this book bounced me up and down, drowned me in a pool of emotions, brought me up to breathe and drowned me again! Ahhhh. I don’t have enough words! I need for Demi and Charlie to get it together. Then Staci and Day!!! Those two I cant deal. In the 3rd book I need something to give and I need for that to be peace!!
