The June story was okay. Not something I loved, but sweet. 2.5 stars.
The July story I simply disliked, flat out. 1.5 stars.
The August story was fun and also connected to a series I'm working through, Four of Hearts Ranch, as well as one I've heard good things about, Mule Hollow. I was a bit skeptical of it at first but Clopton fully won me over! Four stars.
This wedding novella compilation was a hit! After a rather disappointing foray into the Spring selection, I was a bit hesitant to read the Summer edition, but these authors hit their mark. The first one, a June Bride, by Marybeth Whalen was my least favorite of the three, bit still enjoyable; the other two, however, were particularly endearing and sweet, and complete stories on their own. I especially loved the cowboy love story in August Bride by Debra Clopton. I don’t read a lot (read: any) cowboy romances and so this story was different for me with a charming setting, adorable characters and a light-hearted, feel-good romance. The thing I enjoyed most about these quick stories was their introduction to new authors, and with Debra Clopton, I’ve found an author I want to read more of. These are Christian fiction, so they may not be for everyone, but the message is light and uplifting.
2 stars: A June Bride (North Carolina) A July Bride (Texas) I didn't like the way these stories ended. I wanted the couples to be different. Especially in A July Bride. That story is about a woman being left at the alter and finding love again. The other story is a fictionalized The Bachelorette.
4 stars: An August Bride (Texas Matchmakers) (Texas) This story involves a wedding but not the main character's. It also has ranching and catering and horses and a beach. The setting was lovely, and the romance, at times, was a bit frustrating but has a happy ending.
Ach co to był za ślub… „Panny młode. Lato” to trzeci tom serii Rok ślubów.
Choć złamał jej serce, to w Wynne odżywają uczucia, którymi go darzyła.
Alyssa, upokorzona i zawstydzona przed ołtarzem, straciła zaufanie do mężczyzn.
Trzy opowiadania i trzy różne historie. Pierwsza bohaterka dopiero zamierza poślubić ukochanego, druga właśnie została porzucona przed ołtarzem a trzecia nienawidzi ślubów. Trzy opowiadania nawiązujące do ślubów w letnim klimacie. Obecny będzie także motyw zrobienia wszystkiego, co w naszej mocy, by spełnić marzenia i odwagi, by zawalczyć o własne szczęście.
Summer Brides is a romance anthology by three authors whose stories showcase a jilted bride trying to find love again.
The first story takes place in June and involved a woman, who gets engaged on a reality TV show. Yet as the day of the wedding nears, she begins to have doubts and a visit with her ex-fiance has her questioning her decision.
The second story involves a July bride, who is stood up at the altar. After the heartbreak on her wedding day, she must decide whether to give the ex-groom a second chance or move on with another man.
The last story takes place in August and the main character was left at the altar by a cowboy. The abandonment from her fiancé gives the woman a preconceived notion of cowboys and she vows to stay away from those types of guys. Yet, a weekend at a beach wedding has her meeting a handsome cowboy and rethinking her stance on men.
Each story was cute and had characters you fell in love with. Out of all the stories, I’d say June was my favorite because the story was unique and it gave you a glimpse of what happens behind the scenes on reality television. July was my next favorite because I felt for both the heroine and the hero as they dealt with the aftermath of their cancelled wedding. Even though he broke her heart, I understood his reasoning and I felt sympathy for him due to his home life.
As for August, that was a good story, yet I thought it moved too fast. After less than two weeks of knowing each other, the couple decides to get engaged. The real highlight of that book was the posse, which was made up of the bride’s aunt and her friends. The old ladies were a hoot as they tried to work their matchmaking skills on the couple.
Overall, this is a good collection of stories and if you’re looking for a good romance story or stories for your summertime reading, I recommend this book.
The first book this this collection did not end with a wedding so I'm not sure why it was in here under June weddings. I bought this book because it was a book about weddings. I did not like this book. The second in the collection was better. The reason I even picked up this collection of bride stories is because Debra Clopton is one of my favorite authors. Especially her Mule Hollow series which I absolutely loved. So it was no surprise to me that I would live this book also. I read for entertainment not necessarily to be taught spiritual lessons. That's okay if spiritual lessons is what you want. I read to escape. I read a romance for fun. Out of the three books the only one that took me to my happy place was AN AUGUST BRIDE. From reading the reviews I see I differ from the others. It's just my opinion.

Well, this was an exercise for me. I wrote the name of this anthology down and as it was the only one at the library I got it and read it. But, after inputing the name here i found 3 other anthologies with the same name and this was NOT the one I wanted to read. So, note to me, when writing down an anthology name to read on the TBB list always include the name of at least one of the authors in it (for verification).
If you’re looking for a well-developed storyline and characters, steer clear of this one. Three novellas in 300 pages means everything is rushed and unrealistic. I love cheesy romance novels, but this one skips too much to get invested. Instead I rolled my eyes and uttered an “ugh” as I finished. There’s a reason it took me 3 years to finish.
June bride was unbelievable but described human emotions and conflicts well. I liked it so much I didn’t put it down. July bride was just silly - it was a struggle to finish because it I didn’t relate to it’s portrayal at all. Seriously... August bride was lovely. It was my favourite.
Not sure why but this book in the series wasn't my favorite. I didn't really recognize the authors and some of the stories were a little too modern for me. The rest of the series was awesome but this book wasn't that great.
The summer months of this collection really took a nosedive. I would quit reading, but am determined to finish out the series. Disappointing to say the least. The August story was an improvement over June and July, but it still was not for me.
These stories were just ok. The last one was a far stretch, and I never really cared about the characters. She really overused the whole “cowboy” thing. Ultimately, I just wanted the book to end. I have enjoyed the others in the series though!
These stories were lame. The endings made no sense. It portrayed women as a bunch of flakes, changing their minds about a man on a whim. I’m being generous with my 2 stars.
Read back in 2019 or so. I removed it permanently after reading it. Very disappointing. I knew I’d never re-read it. I don’t recommend this summer collection of June to August, sorry.
A June Bride (A Year of Weddings 1 #7) - 2 stars by Marybeth Mayhew Whalen This one bugged me a little too much. Wynne meets her future man on a reality show called The Rejection Connection, having just been dumped by the love of her life she goes on the show to move on with her life. She meets Andy who seems to be an upstanding great guy. What bugged me were the constant red flags she had against marrying Andy (must have been at least 100 - ok, I exaggerate, but seriously there were some in each chapter I swear.) Then she keeps pushing forward to marry him. So, just ok for me.
Moral Note: Clean
A July Bride (A Year of Weddings 1 #8) - 2 stars by Beth Wiseman This is my least favorite wedding novella I've read so far. The story with Brendon was good, but the secondary story line with Dalton in it ruined it for me. On one hand he seems like a really decent guy that loves her. On the other hand it seems like all he thinks about is "wanting her" and getting her into bed. And her brother, what a lousy one. He knows how Dalton in and besides a small caution to his sister doesn't do anything to stop her. Not a favorite for me.
Moral Note: Talk about waiting for marriage, talk of premarital sex, including mentioning "she was good in the sack" type comments. Clean language, no violence.
An August Bride (A Year of Weddings 1 #9) - 4 stars by Debra Clopton These novellas are just so much fun. In this one Kelsey was dumped at the alter by a rodeo obsessed cowboy. She vows she will have nothing to do with another cowboy again...ever. Brent swoops in and literally saves her life and as she thanks him and is staring into his gorgeous eyes and noticing his manly manness, she then notices the boots, and that he is a cowboy, noooo!
Brent does everything to win his "mermaids" heart and prove not all cowboys are the same.
Romance, Clean. This was 3 novellas, very fun, and worth a read. I loved I could 'stop' 1/3 of the way, and 2/3 of the way and still get my 'read' in. This series has been cute to read! The first and second reads were more 3.5 for me. They were a little more unrealistic in a way, but Debra Clopton's was far and away the best. Kelsey and Brent's story made this book the 4 star rating for me. I loved the 'save', loved the reactions, loved seeing them both feel the 'zing' and 'heart string' pulls whenever they were together. Loved how their business brought them together, the lovely ladies made for cute side characters, and of course, the initial romantic wedding and dancing were lovely. I think my problem with the other 2 novellas, were the heroine was fighting off the feelings, and not 'with' the H for most of the novella. I loved that D.C.'s had them spending that time together, and not with another character that in the other novellas, wasn't the HEA, and seemed kind of flat for me in comparison to Brent in D.C.'s novella. Still, the others were cute, but really loved D.C.'s. Worth a read, and of course, if you are able to put it down in between novellas you can get some sleep! ha, ha!
