In the Great Commission, Jesus commanded his followers to go into the world and make disciples, teaching them to obey all that Jesus had said. But the very first “great commission” was really given much earlier—to parents. In Deuteronomy 6, God calls parents to the task of discipleship in raising their children. Discipleship is the greatest test for the Christian family today. In today’s busy world, many parents feel overwhelmed and aren’t sure what to do—or even where to begin. In Dedicated , Jason Houser is joined by Bobby Harrington and his son Chad, as they unpack the simple, practical, and essential practices of spiritually parenting and discipling children in the home. An inspirational training manual to equip parents, Dedicated will empower parents to pass along their faith to the next generation.
Really appreciated this strong parenting work for Christian parents. So much to like here, with the theme of dedication from Deuteronomy 6 leading the way. One major point to highlight is the authors emphasis on parents loving and taking care of their marriage first, which is such a lost point in our culture today. We can't parent well without taking care of our marriages first. Another strong point was the authors emphasis on church attendance, service, and commitment. Our kids need to have another family with their brothers and sisters in Christ. Overall, Dedicated is a strong addition to the plethora of works on parenting in publication today.
This book gives great insight into discipling your children. I loved the summaries and action items at the end of each chapter, especially the Seeds Family Worship song suggestion for each topic.
I found the transitions between three authors distracting and the reading didn't always flow very well due to the change in narration. Otherwise I would give this book 5 stars.
Dedicated by Jason Houser, Bobby Harrington, and Chad Harrington is a book all about training your children to follow Christ. The authors set about to explain how the Great Commission applies in our home to the discipleship of the children we have been entrusted with. Overall, I thought it was a great how to manual useful to parents in many different situations. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. This is my honest review.
The authors - Jason, Bobby and Chad, went about explaining how the Great Commission applies in our home. In dealing with the discipleship of the children, we have been entrusted with a whole lot more than many of us realise. Even though the constant switch between the 3 authors can get a tad distracting, it is overall a good training guide for parents who wish to install trust in Jesus and follow Him.
