Her heart, her dreams… or none of the above?

Chelsea Morris has always been responsible, dependable, and focused on her dreams of fashion design, a dream that will officially begin come fall, when she leaves for college in New York City. As she settles into her role as the lead designer for the local summer stock theater group, she decides to make the most of her last summer in North Carolina. But with her best friend Emily busy working late and spending time with Zander, and tensions with Chelsea's boyfriend, Todd, running high, the summer she envisioned seems to be falling flat.

Then Dylan joins the latest summer production. There's something about the college boy that makes her feel free and alive, and soon she's broken up with Todd, and is sneaking out late to meet Dylan at parties and breaking rules at the playhouse. But before she knows it, her exciting nights are interfering with her job, her role on the play, as well as her relationship with Emily and with her parents. Worse, Chelsea finds herself feeling more and more estranged from God.

As the summer becomes wilder than she ever dreamed, Chelsea must decide if her heart is leading her in the right direction after all."

“Roadside Assistance” is one of my favorite books I’ve ever read, I freaked when I heard about a sequel for it, then finding that the sequel would have another book making it a trilogy, I was, needless to say, excited. I had many emotions while reading “Miles from Nowhere”. (Most of the times I wanted to shake Chelsea to wake her up, but since that really wasn’t possible...) It was hard for me to read about Chelsea doing things I know she normally wouldn’t do and since I couldn’t relate to the peer pressure, my rating was lower. But that doesn’t change that I still enjoyed it! How Miss Amy Clipston does it I’m still not quite sure, but whenever I read her books they always have me exclaiming or sighing or running around the room. ;)
To me, you have to read this series in order...so, who wants to win a copy of “Roadside Assistance”?

Ahh... a perfect ending! So many great lessons to learn from this book. Amy Clipston dealt with the topics really well. I loved Chelsea’s character and following her journey. I especially loved seeing Zander, Taylor, Emily, and Whitney again!!! *fangirls*
And I loved Todd... He’s the best.
This trilogy has been an amazing one and I’ve loved it so, so much!! It goes on my top favorites for sure. I’ll remember this summer every time I think of it.
Highly recommend!!

❝ 'It's good to have you back.' 'It's good to be back.' ❞

The end of the Roadside Assistance series! Got to say, Amy Clipston does not disappoint with the conclusion of this saga of three girls during their walks of faith. This one deals with heavier subject matter, like teen drinking, and Clipston, in my opinion, handles it well. I'm glad this discourages teen drinking, unlike what most YA books do.

I think this is a good book for teens who have had rebellious streaks (and trust me, I've had plenty myself) and need a quick reminder that you should live a life pleasing to God, not to your peers. This book deals with peer pressure as well, and stands as a warning that peer pressure can get you into to tight spaces.

Totally recommend this series to anyone, Christian or not. It's beautifully written, has an amazing story, with a full cast of likable characters (except Dylan). Btw! I have autographed copies of all three Roadside Assistance series! Eeeep!

sexual:
a handful of non-detailed kisses (she gets kissed by two different characters) some girls where skimpy bikinis and mentions of making out. Chelsea is kind of cheating on Todd because she's hanging out with Dylan a lot. There is a player in this story that has cheated on lots of girls and enjoys the thrill of taking sweet girls away from their caring boyfriends

substance abuse:
Chelsea attends several parties where teens drink beer and party. Chelsea drinks beer a few times and recovers from hangovers. She gets fuzzy and acts silly. A boy, drunk, drives with Chelae in the passenger seat and ends up getting into a crash

violence:
a car crash, mildly descriptive

trigger:
Chelsea sneaks out at night against her parents wishes, divorce

verdict:PG/12+

This is the third and final book of the Roadside Assistance trilogy, and I think I like this one the least of the three. Chelsea was really immature and irresponsible. I also couldn’t understand what she saw in Dylan - he was a jerk. I did appreciate the character growth in Chelsea, but I liked Emily and Whitney (the protagonists of books one and two) a lot more.

I really enjoyed this book. But, at times I was frustrated with Chelsea because she was lying, sneaking out at night, and hanging out with the wrong crowd. She wanted to fit in with the “cool kids” when those “cool kids” weren’t cool at all.. they were just immature. My biggest problem was Dylan. He kept nagging at Chelsea to go to his parties. Like is that all the boy does? He has a party like.. every other day..😑 And Dylan is SOO immature! he STREET RACED! WITH CHELSEA IN THE CAR! AND HE HIMSELF WAS DRUNK! Chelsea was my second biggest problem. She kept sneaking out, getting drunk, and being hungover the next day. She took Todd for granted, lied to him and continued to hang out with Dylan. WHEN TOOD ASKED HER NOT TO! I was Team Todd from the start. And another thing that bothered me was when Emily and Whitney tried to talk to Chelsea about Dylan and how he’s such a player. she IMMEDIATELY defended him. Said he’s sweet ( When he’s the opposite of sweet) and I just wish it didn’t take Chelsea till the last page to finally apologize to Todd. She should’ve done that pages ago. (Also side note, I feel like Chelsea should’ve told Todd that Dylan kissed her when they got back together. I was kinda upset she didn’t.) ALSO TODD IS THE CUTEST!!🥰🥰 I enjoyed how you got to see Emily and Zander and Whitney and Taylor. The whole gang was back together🥰 other then the stuff that bothered me (that’s why I knocked off a star) I really enjoyed it. The ending was sweet.🥰

Amy focuses on Amish Fiction, which is why I have yet to pick up one of her books. I just don't read Amish Fiction anymore unless it's Beverly Lewis. I am so glad to see a Contemporary Romance from her. I am eagerly waiting to be able to purchase this book for my Summer reading pleasure.

Miles from Nowhere is the newest addition (and maybe final? I’m not sure) to Amy Clipston’s YA contemporary series. If you would like to read my previous reviews of the first two books in the series, the links are below:

Roadside Assistance

Destination Unknown

I must say, this book intrigued me. The plot sounded different then the first two, and I was curious to how Amy would address the harder topics like drinking, partying, and blatant disobedience to parents. The previous books did deal with topics like these, but not this strongly.

First, lets talk about Amy’s writing style. Even if I am not always a fan of her books, her writing is always great. I love her wording and how she writes. It’s hard to explain, but it’s true.

Next, the characters. If you have read my reviews before, you probably have realized that what really makes or breaks a book for me is the characters. If the characters are good, I enjoy a book much more, even if the plot is bothersome.

Sadly, Chelsea was such an annoying protagonist, I am glad the book wasn’t longer.

I don’t think I could have handled any more of her. I mean, I totally understand that she Is human and will make mistakes. And, sadly, I understand that people go through exactly what Chelsea went through. But I was constantly shaking my head and groaning at her decisions. I understood the first 1 or 2 times. But I only have so much sympathy for her. Plus, I feel like she was whiny and got off way too easily with her actions.

But Todd? Complete opposite. I loved him! He was like the perfect boyfriend, and he treated Chelsea right. Their relationship issues were totally her fault, not his.

Dylan was a jerk. I saw right through him from the beginning.

Kylie was a brat.

Marni was awesome.

Finally, I can’t say that this book was horrible, because sometimes I enjoyed it. But the predictability and protagonist made this story lose what it needed to be the best in the series.

Miles from Nowhere

About the Book:

Her heart, her dreams… or none of the above?

Chelsea Morris has always been responsible, dependable, and focused on her dreams of fashion design, a dream that will officially begin come fall, when she leaves for college in New York City. As she settles into her role as the lead designer for the local summer stock theater group, she decides to make the most of her last summer in North Carolina.

My Review:

Chelsea Morris has always been the good girl, always polite and responsible. With her dreams having always been to be a fashion designer, she is determined to let nothing stand in her way. Her amazing boyfriend, Todd, is always by her side no matter what. Chelsea decides to take her last summer before college to help with a local production of at the Playhouse, a summer stock theater group. As the costumer for the production, all seems to be going as planned, until a new boy shows interest in her.

The boy, Dylan, begins inviting her to his parties. Chelsea soon starts feeling pressured to go no matter what. She starts going to his parties with out Todd there, saying she has no time for him being boring. She begins being late for work, and falling behind on things, that she had been so on top of before. All of a sudden everything is slowly falling apart. When she begins to drink alcohol while at Dylan's parties, she feels all grown up until the next morning, where she can barely get out of bed.

Chelsea just wants to be included in the popular crowd and she feels no one understands that. Todd wants her to see what's happening to her and what's Dylan's trying to pull. Will she see it before it's to late?

Amy Clipston is an amazing author and I love reading her books. Miles from Nowhere is a wonderful book about the effects of peer pressure. I can’t wait to see what the author has in store next!

This book could be a “what NOT to do” manual for teens who have graduated high school. Chelsea did everything that anyone with half a working brain would not do. She went to late night parties with underage drinking. She got drunk. She missed work. She was lax in getting her costumes for a community play finished. She lied to her parents. She blew off her boyfriend for the hopes of dating someone else. She got into a car with a drunk driver. She ignored good advice. It’s a miracle she survived the summer! If you could ignore the stupidity of the main character, then you could say the writing itself was good, or at least, the religious aspect was well written. But really, I expected more from this book. It was an extra large serving of teenage recklessness smothered with angst. The first book in the series was by far the best; don’t bother with the other two.

I was kind of disappointed by this book. when I about hundred pages in I was just so bored with the book that I did something I've never done when reading a book..... I skipped to about 20 pages to the end. I liked the end with what I read but some it just appeal to me. their were references to God to which I liked since I am somewhat religious but some of the comments I just couldn't see my friends saying to me in certain situations. all in all I would recommend if you do read the book borrow it from someone or the library because I regret buying it

I DNF this book due to all of the drinking and bad decisions that Chelsea makes. The first two books in this series were so much better. Luckily, I got this for free.

People do things they don't want to do to fit in. This book explains the life of a girl in her teens and how she lives her summer before college. Getting caught in the wrong crowds and trying to pick the right or the wrong. Some decisions may make or break her life. It explains the challenges she goes through and how her relationship with God and her true friends becomes stronger as the summer goes on.

Chelsea is the name of the teenage girl that the book is based on. She is dating a guy named Todd but has a rough relationship when some of the cast members want her to go to their parties. She is a costume designer for a summer play, and plans on going to college for designing. The story is based on realistic fiction. The best part about the book is how the author words her pages and chapters to make the reader want to keep reading.

As teenagers grow up they start to drift from their parents. Chelsea is trying to keep her morals for her mother but ends up breaking them. Her mom is by Chelsea's side through everything even after the broken promises. The book really tells the amount of love one can be in a relationship and how many people care for you when you think no one does. What the reader may not like is the way the author repeats herself by having Chelsea doing some of the same actions. The author could add a few more actions that she did wrong besides the parties.

The book is a very good book explaining the life of a tennager growing up. The challenges that are faced as we grow older. I recommend this book because it does a nice job of grabbing you to keep on reading. The book also allows you as a teen to make your own connections. It does a great job of giving detail and creating imagery. This book is a great book for teenagers because they go through the same life lessons it explains.

This was another good book in this series, I’ve enjoyed reading it.

Chelsea dreams to become a fashion designer and is the head drama club costume designer and organiser. She longs to fit in and when she is invited to her first drama club parties that she’d never been invited to before she ends up going. She soon gives in to peer pressure and starts drinking, sneaking out of the house and her life begins to fall apart her bf doesn’t know who she is anymore and covers for her at work when she turns up late. They have arguments and they end up breaking up and Chelsea ends up loosing her job as she slept in and once again is drunk/hungover. Eventually after a drunken accident she learns where she’s meant to be who her true friends are and her and her ex bf end up sorting things out between them.

This book addresses the many challenges, struggles teenagers deal with in terms of peer pressure, trying to fit in, teenage drinking, love, friendships responsibilities, dangers of drinking and driving etc. A lot of lessons were learnt in this book which also highlights how horribly wrong things could have gone too and how true friends stick around and will be there for you too.

Miles From Nowhere by Amy Clipston is a young adult novel. I love reading Amy's books. They are always well-written.

When I bought this book a while back, I did not realize it was a young adult novel. I have nothing against young adult novels. But, being well passed the target age for this type of novel, I am not the target audience. I would say that affected my enjoyment of the book.

I would classify this as a cautionary tale against pure pressure. I did not relate to Chelsea, Todd, or Dylan. Chelsea was raised in a Christian home. The summer after high school, a boy (not her boyfriend) catches her eye and begins to show her attention. Chelsea is flattered and wonders what going out with a college boy would be like. Letting that thought take root, leads Chelsea to make decisions she would not usually make. That should have been her first clue that something was wrong. Chelsea does grow as a character, seeing the error of her ways, and making amends.

During the first half I hated Chelsea when she was lying to her mom but now I realize that she was under bad influence of Dylan. But still, why would she hurt poor Todd like that? I’ve read a lot of reviews saying she’s awful and she is but at least she was able to fix those flaws at the end. I was crying by the car accident scene. This just shows how horrible Dylan really is. I don’t care that she’s awful no one deserves to be at the risk of dying. Such compelling writing nevertheless and it captures peer pressuring perfectly. At least she got Todd back by the end even though he did deserve better than a girl who lied to him and wouldn’t listen to what he had to say. Marens awesome! Good for her for calling Chelsea’s mom! Despite how terrible Chelsea is, I can’t wait to read the other books in this series!

Okay, so honestly, this was not as good as the other two. Chelsea constantly made terrible decisions and wouldn’t listen to people who were trying to help her! She was a real mess most of the book! I didn’t really care for her family situation honestly. She treated Todd terribly! I hated Dylan! He was bad news from the start! Todd was really sweet though! With that being said, the ending was good! I enjoyed the faith content and seeing Emily, Zander and Whitney again. This one was a little disappointing. It could have been better compared to the first two.
