M.F. Moody is a purveyor of Contemporary, Rom-Com, Dark, Mafia, Fantasy, Paranormal, LGBTQ+, RH/Poly, and Sci-Fi Romance novels. She has a vivid and active imagination, is often blunt to the point of brutality, has a dark and warped sense of humour, absolutely no filter, no shame, is an absolute genre whore, and aspires to the giddy heights of the gutter.

M.F. Moody is married to a VERY understanding man, and together they have a boy-child, 3 cats, and apparently WAAAAY too many books and alcohol, especially as she’s the only one who drinks. Although really, is there such a thing as having too many books? And as for the alcohol, well, she’s Australian. They live in a little corner of Kent in the UK, and she enjoys confusing the locals with her accent and colloquialisms, reading, coffee, wine, reading, baking, sleeping, and did we mention reading?

Mixed feelings

Jane is a succubus headed to Earth. Finally. She's got a job lined up already, a place to live, and she's ready to start helping humans. But each job she applies to keeps telling her to leave. She can't figure out why. She has all the credentials. Her neighbor is growing concerned for her. They formed a friendship and he can't stand to see her so upset. And he thinks he's figured out her problem, too.

Spoilers ahead.
Ok, there were parts that were absolutely cute and sweet and I loved the succubus similar to cupid angle. The information site was even a trip. Not sure how that actually would have taught her medical science but still worth a laugh. But him guessing she wasn't human? And why those 3 choices? With the allure she could be a siren, a fae, a type of shifter, ... mythology is packed with alluring beings who are good with animals. But I did appreciate the slow build up, and the foundation in friendship that was built first. My only other hesitation was why would they want to change him? Is it a lifespan thing? If so, having her express relief for that reason, or him being excited because they have a) a very long lifetime together 2) eternity together (it's never said which exactly, just hinted that her 27 human years equates to more in Hell) would have cleared that up. Because each fell in love with each other as is. Oh, I also adored his solution. I feel like she still has other options if she so chooses because she does enjoy learning and I could see her taking classes. But him not being jealous and possessive was a definite plus mark.

Jane was in what we call hell and she had applied to work on earth, when she received her acceptance from the Ministry of Earthly Desires she had to have 3 back stories and job qualifications. As Jane was settled in to her apartment and went to her first job she had picked nursing in her nice nursing outfit she was immediately thrown out of the hospital. In fact, with each job she was hired for when she started she was immediately fired on her first day. Jane had met Jamie when she first came from hell, as Jane continued to have problem with retaining jobs their friendship continued to grow. As Valentine’s Day was coming Jamie invited her to dinner and at dinner Jane found out about her “uniform problems” which had me in stitches laughing. This is a short, quick, romantic and truly hysterical read.

Valentine's Sucks! (UBUS) by M.F. Moody is the perfect mix of lighthearted fun and a touch of steam an ideal read for Valentine’s Day! This short story introduces us to Jane, a clever yet somewhat naive succubus on her first trip to Earth. Her adventure takes an unexpected turn when she meets her shy, nerdy neighbor, Jamie.

The chemistry between Jane and Jamie is both playful and steamy, creating the perfect balance of humor and heat. The story is full of giggles, moments of unexpected sweetness, and just the right amount of romance to keep things engaging without feeling over-the-top.

Whether you're into paranormal romances or just looking for a quick, fun read to get you in the Valentine’s Day spirit, this one hits the spot. As always, my reviews are entirely voluntary and my honest opinion—no compensation involved, just sharing a book I really enjoyed!

This short Valentine’s novella is about a succubus coming to Earth for the first time. She intends to work and show that she can blend in with the humans. After all the research that she’s done and finally getting permission, she feels that she’s prepared. Unfortunately, her research...was flawed.
This novella is engaging and has a nice amount of drama. We were left more in suspense concerning why Jane kept getting fired from one job after another. Eventually the truth comes out behind her firings. Is it humorous? A little. For us, the delivery falls a bit flat, but some might find it funny. There are some humorous elements, but the big reveal wasn’t as funny as we thought it’d be.
All in all, this is a cute novella, and we’d love to find out how Luce is doing, and read other novellas similar to this one.

Jane and her friend are Succubi and reside in Hell. They are over the moon when they are accepted on a programme they have applied for that will allow them to work on earth in human jobs while playing matchmaker to humans and then harmlessly feed off the loving energy they give off. Only for Jane things don't go quite as planned when she loses job after job ...
This was a short, quite sweet and funny story. I was puzzled about why Jane kept losing her jobs on the first day till Jamie, her love interest figured it out and I had to laugh at what "The Hub" where they find all their information on earth really was! Short enough to read in around an hour this is a quick and amusing Valentine read

Ah, this one was definitely a lot of fun. Short, but gave me a good laugh.
Jane is a succubus, sent to earth to settle into a job and eventually start influencing relationships around to play the perfect matchmaker. However, she is failing to keep any job past the first day, clueless why is it going so wrong. The only good thing in her earthly life seems to be her handsome neighbor.
I was so pleased with myself when I figured out already at the beginning why she is failing at her jobs and then was proved right in the most hilarious way. Poor Jane, I don't think I have ever come across such an innocent succubus in any book. The girl is absolutely sweet and harmless, and lucky to find such a good neighbor :)

This was a very short easy Valentine’s Day read, a bit of comedy to it too.
Jane is a succubus in hell, she and her friend receive the all clear to go to earth. She has her own apartment near London. She meets her cute neighbour Jamie and they become friends. She turns up for her first job on earth and was soon angrily sent away, it happens again and again she changes careers and it still happens. Thankfully Jamie figures out why and works out that she isn’t human and they fall for each other really quickly!

This was such a fun and entertaining V-Day read and I loved the humour that made me laugh out loud. Jane is new to her time on the Earthly plane and she keeps losing jobs due to her uniform choices. Her nerdy neighbour, Jamie, invites her to dinner and things become clear for Jane about her employment problems ;) However, the sparks between them meant so much more than just dinner and I really enjoyed this cute romance. The author did a fab job balancing the humour, playfulness and the heat. Good reading fun!

A delicious short love story! Perfect for Valentine’s Day!
I enjoyed the concept or storyline as a whole. Interesting characters, but if it was a bit longer, I imagine there’d be more place or space for more character development. Jane definitely is an interesting character, and so is Jamie. Since this is a shorter story, I think the balance between pacing (direct and indirect characterisation) was done well. I think for this book, it was good! A fun twist that was a little predictable, but still enjoyable!

What a delightful little rom-com novella to get you in the mood for valentines! 💓
Jane is a succubus beginning her years probation living on earth taking a break from hell. She's to find her feet then can continue for 50 earth years. Her first day there she meets her handsome neighbour Jamie in her apartment block. She's having an awful time holding down any job and settling into earth life while growing closer to her sweet, ginger friend. This is a quick afternoon read thats so sweet and uplifting! Really enjoyed the humour and quirks 💓

Such a cute story! Jane, a sucubbus, is new to Earth and is struggling to find a career. She's qualified for so many different jobs but has zero success at keeping a job. You really start to feel bad for her because she's so excited to excel. That little twist at the end when you find out what is happening was hilarious! I loved how her relationship grew with her neighbor Jamie. He's so sweet and comforting to her. You can instantly sense the attraction between the two, they have great chemistry.

This was an interestingly different story. Jane is a very naive succubus, who has no idea of what is realistic on earth. She can't work out why she keeps losing her job. Her neighbour Jamie is instantly smitten by his gorgeous new neighbour, but it takes a little while before he works out why she keeps losing her job. I loved the innocence that Jane has and how she has no idea that what she is wearing is totally inappropriate. I loved how nerdy Jamie was able to step out of his boundaries to make an effort for Jane. An enjoyable quick read!

This is such a good book!!! Loved every minute of it. Haha. I laughed throughout the whole book. I just love the humor. I could have read a whole series with this book. Every time I think of this book, i just smile!! Jane and Jamie are hilarious. Jane is a succubus from hell on her first trip to earth. It's a wild ride for Jane as she tries to navigate earth. She meets Jamie in her building, and he is immediately taken with her. Jane is super intelligent, but she keeps getting fired from her jobs. I don't know if I have ever laughed this much from a book!!! A must read!!!!

My Valentine's Sucks!(ubus) is a fast paced Valentine's Day novella.

Jane is a succubus, who was granted permission to visit Earth. She applied for many jobs but was quickly turned away. She was so adorable and naive. I was lowkey feeling so bad for her. Then she mentioned "The Hub" and it dawned on me and had me rolling. Jamie was quite literally the boy next door. He was a total sweetheart and him and Jane were so perfect together.
This is such a cute and humorous little standalone. I really enjoyed it.

My Valentine’s Sucks! UBUS is a hilarious and sweet read about a woman from Hell on probation on Earth. She’s a ten, but somehow manages to fail at ten different jobs in just a week (literally) making for some laugh-out-loud moments. The twists at the end explaining why she can’t hold down a job are pure comedy.

Jamie, the sweet and innocent neighbour, turns out to be a perfect match for her in the most unexpected way. This book is a fun, light read with some clever humor and a nice romance, with a bit of chaos thrown in. Highly recommended for fans of quirky stories and adult humour.

This was a sweet and comical short read. Jane is a succubus from hell who is sent to earth for probation time. She needs to require 3 things to stay if she wants to. 1. A job, 2. A living space and 3. A relationship. When Jane first gets to earth, she meets Jamie, a gorgeous ginger who is her next-door neighbor. Starting her job as a nurse Jane is dismissed, 2 other jobs later and the same thing. It's a story filled with heartwarming moments and huge laughter. I love it.

This was a funny, short read about the importance of setting out with the right information. The Hub, from where they get their information, was hilarious!
What would Jane have done without Jamie? Definitely gone back to her place of birth, that's for sure LOL
I liked this take on these types of creatures. Refreshing to not have it all about the quick fix.

A delightful quick PNR read. Perfect for the short reading session.

This is one of those short standalone stories you shouldn’t take too seriously. Even though it’s short, it was long enough to like the main characters and I was invested in finding out why our fmc’s jobs all fell through. The moment that became clear, I was happy not to be drinking or eating because all of that might have found its way through my nose otherwise. So yeah, it was fun, short and not too serious.

Looking for a valentine short read? Something to scratch that romantic itch? This is the perfect novella for that!

What happens when a Succubus is given the chance to go earth side for what is essentially a work exchange program, and only knows about earth from "training" videos? A little bit of chaos, a little bit of heartbreak, and maybe, just maybe, a little bit of love.

Spice: 0.5/5

Some human like monster/human love

My Valentine Sucks!(ubus) is one of the cutest novellas I have read to date! This is the perfect read for Valentine's Day week, and I adored Jane and Jamie's story. Adding in the element that Jane is also a succubus experiencing her first jaunt on Earth, and this short story will have you rolling with laughter. That's not all! The heat from the romance was just as spicy, which really brought the whole story together and why it is the perfect V-Day read. So much fun!

MF Moody did it again.

This was a light hearted quick read. Jane was a succubus and had received permission to Earth to spread love. While researching jobs/life through "The Hub" she found what she wanted. Little did she know that some of that information wasn't quite accurate.

Jamie was her next door neighbor. He was falling for her. Little did she know that he would help her with her assignment on Earth and a career.

Great read.
