As simple as this book may be, it was exactly what I needed in the midst of what I am going through at the moment. I have heard that some were disappointed at the fact that this book was only a collection of excerpts from Max Lucado's other books, but that was something that particularly made me more interested in reading his other books.

Every page is a devotional, and it has been so helpful to me as I have just recently graduated high school and am moving on to my next chapter of life. As I am moving on, there is a lot of uncertainty present; reading this book grounded me, in a way and reminded me to always have trust in God's timing and to live gracefully through the chaos.

I definitely recommend reading this book, unless you have already read so many other books by Max Lucado. Overall, there is so much Godly wisdom in this book, and as a recent graduate, I truly appreciate this gift.

I didn't pay much attention to what I was buying when I found this at a used book store or else I wouldn't have purchased this. I didn't realize that it was a devotional type book for high school graduates. Still, I found some passages to really hit home and cause me to stop and think. I'm a big fan of Max Lucado and his writing style so while I was disappointed that it wasn't a "book" and instead a "devotional for high school graduates" I still give it 3☆. 0

This book takes excerpts from Max Lucado's other books. I used it as a kind o devotional, reading one excerpt daily. There are some very wise bits of information in it and I felt lead to share many. I passed it in to my son and daughter in law.

Not At All like the book description makes it sound, but it works well as a devotional

Good info but I was disappointed that this info is a collection of material from other books.

~~ We Are God's Handiwork, Created in Christ Jesus to Devote Ourselves to the Good Deeds for Which God has Designed Us. ~~ Ephesians 2:10 NEB

Let the Journey Begin: Finding God's Best For Your Life is filled with godly wisdom, encouragement, and guidance from bestselling and trusted author Max Lucado for people about to embark on new steps in their life journey. They'll be reassured that they are not alone—God is with them every step of their way. While the book seems to be geared toward graduates and some of the pages appeal to them, this book is an overall reading for anyone going through some life changes. In this updated edition of the bestselling book, thirty-two additional pages of new content are included, as well as new excerpts, quotes, and scripture. Included are pages for personal goals, favorite verses of scripture, and prayers.

Let The Journey Begin: Findng God's Best For Your Life fills us with wisdom, hope, God's love, and grace. It's a little book that you want to keep with you during your personal journey. When you get stuck on your journey or feel like you're losing hope use it as a reference tool to bring you back to center. Refer to the table of contents to guide your specific situation.

This book is kind of a cross between a devotional, a gift book, and a book of advice. It is short (less than 200 pages) with around seventy or so readings. Each reading is about a page or two at most and all of them have a short quote or scripture to support them. It's not quite a devotional, in that it isn't all scripture or examination of scripture. If you re going through something particular, you can go to the table of contents, find a topic and read just that reading.

The book is short and it is divided into five themed sections: God's Plan for the Journey of Life - A Road Map for Success; Stop, Look, and Listen - Good Habits for a Good Journey; A Fork in the Road - Deciding Which Way to Go; Dangers and Detours Ahead - Slow Down, Avoid Disaster; and Two is Fine Company - A Friend for the Journey. There is also a place at the end for notes, or for planning your first steps on the journey of life.

While this book is also available for the Kindle and Nook and other e-book readers, I believe Let The Journey Begin: Finding God's Best For Your Life is one of those books that deserve a hardback copy worthy of sitting on your side table or dresser. Pick up a copy of Let The Journey Begin: Finding God's Best For Your Life and use it as a life guide.

As an Official Blogger for Family Christian, I received this book without cost in exchange for my honest review and unbiased opinion.

Are you looking for a gift book or devotional that contains trustworthy advice, guidance and counsel based on Scripture - a book that will help guide your graduating child through adulthood when you cannot be by his or her side?

If so, Let The Journey Begin - Finding God's Best For Your Life by Max Lucado is a wonderful gift-giving choice!

Let The Journey Begin is a completely revised edition of a book that was previously released in 2009. This revision contains 32 new pages of content including an attractive new cover - an updated interior design including new excerpts from previous books, quotes and Scripture - and personal pages for goals, favorite Scripture verses and prayers.

Although this gift is being marketed for graduates, its content has universal appeal. The devotions remind us what is important in life - the values we hold, the choices we make.

Therefore, I recommend this beautiful and uplifting gift book for anyone who is going through transition or entering a new phase of life.

Personal opinion - I’m coming to the conclusion that I’m just not the biggest fan of Lucado’s style. I’ve read one of his full length books and this devotional contained short excerpts from his other books; out of the 50+ excerpts, only about 9 really hit. Those 9 were really good! But just not that challenging or profound for me overall.

This little book by Lucado would be an excellent resource for a quick devo or as a "filler" when one is creating Bible lessons. Lucado has the gift of getting the reader to soak on the words, not just quickly read through them.
