An erotic novel by the best-selling author of The Initiation of Ms Holly, K D Grace.

In appreciation for a job well done, Stella James's boss sends her a pet, a human pet. The mischievous Tino comes straight from the Pet Shop complete with a collar, a leash, and an erection. Stella soon discovers the pleasure of keeping Pets, especially this one, is extremely addicting.

Obsessed with Tino and with the reclusive philanthropist, Vincent Evanston, who looks like Tino, but couldn't be more different, Stella is drawn into the secret world of the Pet Shop.

As her animal lust awakens, Stella must walk the thin line that separates the business of pleasure from the more dangerous business of the heart or suffer the consequences.

***There might be mild spoilers.***

What do you think about mixing this...

...and this?

No? Try again.

People behaving like animals? That’s totally usual.

As I said.

This book was a challenge for me for so many reasons.

Firstly, BDSM alone is out of my comfort zone. You can call me prudish if you want, but every time I begin one of these, I wonder if it will be hardcore. Fortunately, this “fear” is being overcome with each passing novel.

Secondly, I usually AVOID threesomes or foursomes and going on. I’m sorry to say that for me more than two people are a way too many people. I have the idea that Love is a story of one man and one woman or one man and one man or one woman and one woman. If you add, you see that the result is TWO and no more.

Thirdly, I don’t like public displays of everything. Sex in public is a no-no for me. I’m prudish again and this is private.

So, before I begin to rub you the wrong way with my boring schemes, I must say: I pushed all my limits here! And I did it all in less than 24h. So, let’s admit it wasn’t that bad, right?

When I read Ingela and Marte's reviews I felt some kind of attraction to this story. I thought the idea of the book was awesome. And Tino being your Tamagotchi and your lover all rolled up in one had some appeal. Yeah, Tamagotchi, because you must feed him, lead him to the bathroom and take care of him. He can’t do anything by himself, not even taking off clothes. And he can't talk. He was friendly and wicked and deliciously irresistible in those parts and I wanted to know more about him and oh, how satisfying he can be if he behaves as a good Pet... and if he doesn't.

Nothing too strong, really. But this mix of perversion and innocence and playfulness and coyness is too much to bear standing on the sidelines. So, the beginning of the novel was intoxicating and I told my mother “You must read this one!”.

But then the Tamagotchi Tino part turned into Vincent part and that lost heart. It was special one moment, and one second later it was ordinary. The Too Stupid To Live heroine on pink high heeled shoes walking on the muddy soils of a forest to get to talk to the hero. Now I remember why I began reading m/m. And of course, the filthy rich hero who changes “useless-money-maker” business for protecting nature and animals is a way to portray his not-so-evident philanthropy. I’m sorry to be so harsh, but it’s so soap-opera I can’t resist to comment it.

All of a sudden Stella decides that, in order to get closer to Tino/Vincent, she must be a Pet. The logic of this reasoning left me speechless, so of course I had to immediately agree with her. All of this told me that maybe it’s not a good idea to recommend it to my mother. She gives up more easily than I do, and has less tolerance than me with “sappyness” and stupidity.

In any case, the MC' lives are not the strong point, as opposed to the originality of the plot itself: an organization of people treating people as animals, but in a nice manner, to have fun and to break free of rules and public conventions, to give free rein to the animal inside of us. That I liked. A lot.

The third 30% was on the right track again. It got lost but it found its path again. And sparks and excitement returned. Oh, did they do.

So, all in all, this book is pretty kinky, a bit naughty and a little disturbing due to the Pet thing (but in a good way). Not my cuppa, in any sense of the word. I'm most into slow burn and the old school saying "first love, then sex". On the other hand, it's funny and mischievous. That goes without saying. And, althought it's hard to believe, this book was romantic, maybe in an unconventional way, but it is. But above all very very very HOT.

3.7 Smut Stars - Lighthearted entertainment erotica - easy listening-candy for lazy days

Sometimes I surprise myself. I'm still a bit amazed that I actually was listening to this, but it was so fun. Entertainment erotica is what this is. ~ A very filthy "Pet" novel recommended by my sweet but a bit naughty friend Marte (5 hot stars from her).

Variety is the spice sometimes!
I enjoyed a lot... actually. **blushing**

***********************************************************

How surprised wouldn't you be if you got an unexpected gift from your boss on a Friday night? A cozy gift to play and cuddle with a whole weekend. ~ A sexy man —a obedient pet who doesn't speak— sitting at your feet and obey your every whim. A cute and lovely pet you have to nurture and care for. ...Feed, bathe and satisfy.

The London girl Stella James experiencing exactly this. Her boss sends her a pet, a human pet, as thanks for well done job. The mischievous Tino comes straight from the Pet Shop complete with a collar, a leash, and an erection.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

“All Pets arrive at their keeper’s highly aroused and ready for sex play – the males with erect....”

Stella soon discovers the pleasure of keeping Pets, especially this one, is extremely addicting. ~ But who is Tino? ~ And who is Vincent Evanston, the american philanthropis, who looks so much like Tino but is so different?

***********************************************************

This story is light-hearted, kind and affectionate all the time. Sure it's a little kinky but never heavy-handed, and only a few light slaps on a mischievous pets butt occasionally. It's about caring and nurturing your always so horny and also so sweet affectionate pet. But also about erotic dreams, love, career, life choices, secrets and always much heat and desire.

The Pet Shop is possibly not a traditional and conventional romance, but there is a lot of romance in the midst of all eroticism. It started really well but was perhaps a bit tedious as much sex often becomes in very erotic romances. But it was in any case some variation and the topic is both titillating and kind of exciting. A sexy male pet... Imagine!!
Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Overall, is The Pet Shop a fun and very entertaining done erotica. I giggled, smiled, chuckled —and blushed— most of the time. This story didn't feel so serious, it was more like a erotica-comedy, written to entertain us.
~ Well and nicely narrated by Charlotte Lovering. Eight hours (...250 pages) good listening - I'm happy!

Thanks for the 'smut-rec', sweet Marte!!
(Such girls are they these Norwegian GR friends. LoL!)

I LIKE - to be a 'naughty' lady some days

...and I bought it of course. All three parts for free in one book on Amazon. If you want to listening to the audio book as well, is that one for just $2.29. (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008...)

Hot DAMN! This is one serious EROTIC romance right here! And mindblowing! And HOT! And Kinky (with a capital K)! And believe it or not, romantic! And there's actually a story and plot as well.

But, you need to accept the kink alright. There is some serious roleplay with pet play. It's kinky, but not offputting or disgusting, the sex is still sex -HOT sex mind you. There's nothing forced about this, they all have made a choice to play, okay.

And everything WORKS! The characters felt real and well developed, not cheesy and stupid. I got facinated by the whole concept (don't judge me). And the story is intriguing and it holds everything together and actually makes it into a great story and not just about sex. Stella and Tino are amazing!

So, imagine your friend and co-worker comes to visit you saying she has a surprise, a reward for a job well done. Stella figures it's probably a gift voucher or maybe theatre tickets... how wrong she is! Her friend shows up with a gorgeous man...

‘This is Tino.’ Anne placed a hand under the man’s chin and lifted his head so Stella could see his lovely stubbled face, blushing as though she had just caught him masturbating behind the sofa. He offered half a shy smile then quickly lowered his head again, dark eyes disappearing behind a fringe of unruly auburn hair.

Blushing? Shy smile? Awwww, cuuuute! Uhh, what? Well, YES he is. Tino doesn't talk and he acts as a pet. He sits down obediently on the floor, cock standing to attention, and looks up at you with deep dark eyes.

Stella being a good host offers drinks..
‘And what about you? What would you like?’ The man only buried his head against Anne’s leg like a shy child.
‘Tino doesn’t drink, and he’s already been fed.’
‘Already been fed?’
Anne disengaged Tino’s arms from around her leg and stood. ‘Stay here, Tino, mistresses need to talk.’
‘Mistresses? What the fuck’s going on?’
‘Shshsh!’ Anne grabbed Stella’s arm and hustled her off to the kitchen. ‘He’s very sensitive to other people’s emotions. He’s nervous enough just being in a strange place.’

Whuuuut??

Your friends explains...

‘There’s a site called the Pet Shop. They set people up with Pets, and I’m not talking cats and dogs here, Stel. It’s temporary, only for a night, a weekend at the most.’
‘You’re kidding, right?’
‘Hon, I wouldn’t joke about something as yummy as Tino.’
(...)
‘Tino’s very low maintenance, well behaved – at least most of the time anyway, clean, quiet.’
‘Jesus, Annie, this is a bloke you’re talking about, not a stray cat.’

Well behaved, huh? Not this time. Walking back from the kitchen..

There on the floor, exactly where they left him, was Tino, head thrown back, eyes closed, enthusiastically thrusting the thick cock he’d extricated from his trousers in and out of his fisted hand.
‘Tino! Bad boy! You know better than to play with your thing without permission.’ Anne shoved past Stella and slapped his hands away from his penis.

Holy shiiiit!

So what do you do when your friend leaves and says she'll come and pick him up in two days? And he doesn't talk...

‘I’m sorry, Tino,’ she shoved to her feet, tearing her gaze away from the gorgeously horny man sitting on the floor by her chair. ‘But I just can’t do this. The pet only looked up at her with adoring and expectant eyes.
(...)
Tino made no response. Instead, he rubbed his cheek affectionately against her leg and moved to sit back on his haunches, a position that made his erection look even more enormous, bulging heavily against his thigh. At the sight, her stomach muscles tensed low and tight and her pussy clenched and half convulsed.
‘I forgot ,’ she looked down at the manual still gripped in one hand, ‘Pets don’t talk.

Tensions building!!

For a long moment he looked up at her with his bottomless cinnamon eyes, as though he couldn’t quite comprehend what she wanted of him. Then, slowly, carefully, holding her gaze, he laid a hand against his cock and ran a curled palm up the length of it. A shudder ascended his spine. He threw back his head and released a trembling breath that ended in a deep animal groan at the back of his throat.
(...)
Before she could do more than marvel at the velvety softness that felt like it sheathed granite, he pushed in closer, and his large hand engulfed hers easing it gently against his cock with just enough pressure to encourage her fingers to wrap around the girth of him. She curled her fingers around him and felt his hand tighten over hers. She expected him to hump like a dog, but he only stepped closer
(...)
The shifting of his hips was almost invisible but for the tensing of the muscles low in his hard belly, tightening and lifting until his soft pubic curls just grazed the inside of her wrist. Instead of the blatant sexuality she expected, he simply laid his head on her shoulder, his warm breath raising the fine hair along the back of her neck. His heart hammered a heavy drumbeat that matched her own,

*GASP* And this is ALL BEFORE 8%, I tell you!

Is it hot in here?

Try it out, I urge you. You may be surprised.

And Tino... my god, I think I'm panting a little bit my self actually.

I absolutely love love love the concept, and found this book such a refreshing change from all the alpha male/submissive woman stuff out there. But it wasn't just the concept - KD Grace is a wonderful writer who really knows how to pack some passion and realism into even the strangest scenarios. Fantastic read.

I started reading The Gift which is the first part of KD Grace' Pet Shop Trilogy but then as I had this version began again and read this edition for the complete story
.
It was my first foray into pet play and the character of Tino when introduced to Stella was full of humour and lust and easy to forget this is a naked human sniffing and nuzzling and not a real dog. The sex scenes were hot, very erotic as were the sexual interactions between Alan and Tino, Stella and Tino and Stella and Vincent, and the exploration and innocence of the two women exploring same sex experiences together. This was this novels strong points.

I may be wrong but to me it felt that maybe the sex scenes between the characters were written within the pet play subgenre of the erotica umberella and the overall plot and intricacies added afterwards. I thought it quite strange that a job in the ecological field where Stella works giving her the gift of a male pet for sexual play a perk I found rather unrealistic somehow.

However, there were also some parts of the story that remain unclear to me as to why the Pet Shop began, who did it and runs it is clear...just not why, nor how it fully links into the conservationist scene. The funding and characters were clear but the why...well some answers were given at around 81% and onwards, but the plot still left one or two questions for me.

As such I find this is generally a little better than 3 star to me and i give it just 4stars. It is fairly well written and edited, very readable.
I would like to read more of KD Grace's stories and have earmarked The Initiation of Ms Holly next.

This was definitely more of what I was looking for in a puppy play book. Although in this book they call them Pets. I suppose you could have had a pet tiger or lion if you wanted to. They never really specified, but it was kind of implied that they were dogs. At least that's how I took it.
The pets in this book were not allowed to talk, and imitated animalistic behavior more so than previous books I've read. For instance, when they greeted each other it was by smelling their crotches. They were transported to their keepers in "pet carriers" too. They also came with a whole manual of how to take care of, feed, bath, water, etc. Over all great read, 4 of 5 stars and I wouldn't mind finding my own Tino somewhere!

Oh yeah, I must add that Ms. Grace has choosen to use some odd terms throughout the book that had me wondering what the hell she was talking about. I think my favorite though was the phrase "front-loader" in reference to a lacy bra! Who calls it that?!

Loved it. Not really into Femdom so liked how it was handled. Unlike some other pet-play books this was nearly believable and the pets were always treated with affection. Tino was a great dog and I would have had him as a pet any day!! Read this for a group challenge and will now have to look at others by this author. Recommended to those that like a bit of fun/fur with their erotic romance.

Please forgive me if I gush. In fact, I'm going to rave. I'm a giddy fan-girl. The Pet Shop by K D Grace is, bar none, the best erotic romance novel I've read in a really, really long time.

It's scorching hot, creative and kinky, and heart-warming. Reading this novel requires a fan, a stiff drink and probably a cigarette or two. It's that hot.

It's not just the sexy scenes that make this book so great. There's a real plot, real conflict and a deeply moving love story. It's the best of everything. And, at over 250 pages, it's a full-length novel with fully developed characters with emotional substance.

Tino and Vincent are two sides of a very drool-worthy coin.

Vincent is hot, intriguing, with a dominance streak that protects a vulnerable soul. Add in sexy as sin and richer than any man has a right to be, and he becomes a sexual fantasy come to life. But he's not perfect, which makes him, if you'll forgive me, the perfect romantic hero.

Tino is sensuality, submission and eager adoration in one very sexy package. Like a good Pet, his goal is to please his Keeper. Sometimes he misbehaves, though, in very naughty and delightful ways.

Stella is a driven, hard-working, responsible employee--not the type of woman to ever hire a Pet. To be perfectly blunt, Stella is the only (very minimally) flat note in the entire novel. I get a real feel for Vincent, and even Tino, as a person outsde off the sexual interaction. I don't really get a feel for Stella. Everything we learn about her comes from things other characters say; no really through her own actions of internal dialogue.

Now, let's talk about the sex. Oh, boy, the sex. *Reaches for a cold drink.* The sex is hot, creative, varried, tender, desperate, and, above all, FREQUENT. There's a lot of sex going on in this book. There's mild BDSM sex, some kinky sex, M/W sex, M/M sex, M/M/F sex, F/F/F sex, romantic sex... The sex is explicit and, despite the variety and explicitness, it's beautifully written. And, I guess, best off all, it never quite feels like Grace just grabbed any random sex act she could imagine and dump it in, just because. In almost every instance, the love scenes drove the plot forward.

This book isn't all about the sex, though. There is a real plot, with real conflict and real intrigue. The characters have obstacles and revelations that must happen before they can find their HEA.

If you like hot steamy sex, held together with a story of real content, you have to read this book. It is absolutely fabulous.

The Pet Shop is an exclusive, secretive website that leases humans out for hire. They are, for intents and purposes, prostitutes that cater to a particular kink. They are slaves for their keepers, unable to do anything without consent and treated exactly like a pet. Stella is rewarded by her boss for all her hard work with a particularly cheeky pet by the name of Tino. When he arrives in her home, her initial reaction is one of disgust. Within two minutes of meeting the over friendly, and incredibly sexy Tino, she begins to change her mind. She spends the weekend embroiled in some very hot and heavy, kinky sex (look out for a food scene) but soon she has to say goodbye to her faithful friend. She spends the next week obsessing over the mischievous Tino. When she is offered the opportunity to see him again, she jumps at the chance. Little does she know that she would begin to develop feelings for him, or that their introduction is engineered by her boss to determine her pliability for their secret “plan” When she sees the picture of a local naturist, Vincent Evanston, she realises that Tino may only exist at the weekends. After an altercation with the reclusive millionaire, her access to Tino is cut off abruptly. Luckily, her friend, and superior, Anne, offers her a one shot chance to see him again. Will she allow herself to be immersed deeper into the world of the Pet Shop for him?

This book is erotic romance. This book is also so far removed from my usual comfort zone, I’ve had to give it a few days to digest before I reviewed because I simply could not give it a rating! The concept of the Pet Shop reminded me a little of As She’s Told, which immediately got my back up (sorry Anders fans). The one thing that saved this concept for me was the authors rational for the whole concept. Some people like to be keepers. They want to be in control of another person, to nurture and care for them like a pet. However, they don’t want to do it full time, so they pay for a service. On the other hand, some people like to be pets, so they pay to be pets for a time. This made sense to me. Both participations are open and honest and, importantly for me, paying clients of a company. One big thing for me though, unprotected sex. There is lots and lots of sex. There is also sex with multiple partners and both sexes (There is F/M, F/F, M/M/F and F/F/F/M) but there is no mention of protection. It bugged me, but I didn’t let it affect the scoring, even if was a little irresponsible.

Let’s start with the characters. Stella is a good strong character. She was comfortable with her sexuality, which made the sex scenes amazing. She did, however, get a little too obsessed with Tino a little too soon. Yes, he’s a pretty man, yes, he has some amazing sex moves and he’s incredibly obedient. However, she is obsessed with a suspected hooker after a weekend...it’s odd. I admire her for doing anything she can to see him once she has attempted to contact him though. I won’t tell you the lengths that she goes to, but it’s far! At no point did I feel she was over her head, and the scene with the Professor was mega hot! The Tino/Vincent thing was a little odd to begin with. At the weekend, he is this uninhibited sexual being who will sleep with anyone and do anything. During “Real life”, he is Vincent, a mega businessman with a whole lot of money. I understood the need to let go of the public persona and just be. I thought it was very well crafted. I couldn’t see a HEA; I just enjoyed the incredibly hot sex. There is added intrigue with the “plan” that is constantly discussed by the Boss and Annie in covert phone calls. We don’t know what the deal is, but there is a plan for Stella in the company for which she has been hand selected. It added a level of intrigue, which I enjoyed!

This isn’t palm sweaty sex. Once you get comfortable with the concept, this story is full of sex that makes your heart pump and your libido race. The way Stella abandons everything for the pure sensation and eroticism that Tino brings is refreshing. She craves him, and that kind of erotic desperation was just...wow! This is one of the steamiest books I’ve read this year. No, it wasn’t a “nice” story, and the motivation behind the characters actions was often highly flawed and questionable, but it kept me engrossed and made me react. My favourite scene involved Stella, Tino, a kinky professor and a “punishment”,*phew* :D I’d like a password to that website please........

A review for The Romance Reviews.

THE PET SHOP is lust-filled decadence at its best.

When Stella found out she was going to be rewarded for the great job she was doing with her new company, she expected a gift card or a bottle of wine. What she got was a "pet" to take care of for the weekend. When I say pet, I mean to say a human one, naked, horny, and delicious, who goes by the name of Tino--decked out in a leash and collar and ready to please. Stella didn't think that she was going to be able to handle the responsibility of having a human pet, but she finds that she's quite good at it and actually enjoys it too much.

Her enjoyment soon turns to an addiction, and Stella will stop at nothing to keep Tino in her life, including becoming a pet herself. And as she gets deeper into the world simply known as "The Pet Shop", she finds that she likes discovering her own animal nature. However, not all is what it seems, and untruths are revealed, leaving hearts broken in their wake.

My, oh my! I don't know exactly where to begin. THE PET SHOP was like all the seven deadly sins wrapped up into one big sexfest. Lust, gluttony, envy, wrath, pride, and greed all showed their faces at some point in this book and I loved every bit of it! LOL I even felt a little debauched after reading it, and trust me, that's not easy to do.

From the beginning, we are put into the world of animal play. It was interesting seeing it from the perspective of Stella who had never participated in something like this. She and Tino get along wonderfully, and he never even said one word to her, but their bodies seemed to know each other right from the start. From there, it is almost constant sex. Whether it was thinking about, self-pleasure, or actual intercourse, there was basically something to do with sex on just about every page of this story. There was M/F, M/M, and F/F interaction and just about every combination in between.

There also was some actual plot there. Really, there was! Fraught with conflict, longing, secrets, betrayal and redemption, it certainly added to this unusual world that is THE PET SHOP. The premise was great, as it is something that I've never seen before. The characters were interesting and flawed in a way that helped me like them more. There was no one who's perfect in this story, and isn't that how it really is?

Overall, I thought THE PET SHOP was one unusual and erotic read that was highly addictive. It was hard to put down because I just really couldn't figure out what was going to happen next. This is my first K.D. Grace full-length read, and I have to say, I'm intrigued, so I'll have to check out more of her work!

A fantastic story, one of my top reads of 2011!

WOW! The Pet Shop was such an unexpected and mindblowing read that not only have I gobbled it up in no time but it shot straight to my Top Reads of 2011 list!

The Pet Shop gives the reader a glimpse into the secret world of an elite and secretive organization which hires out human pets for sexual pastime. We get to learn about the ropes of this unknown world and its customs through Stella's experience who receives a male pet, Tino as a reward for a job well done. At first she is shocked and disgusted, but soon she succumbs to her sizzling chemistry with Tino and the thrill of this extraordinary experience.

The very gradual development of Stella's thoughts and feelings to this whole pet concept and her own role in the equation was done very well making the reader see and understand why she does what she does.

The combustive sex scenes (which trust me don't come any hotter than this!), the interesting and well developed characters and the stellar writing all make The Pet Shop a fantastic read, but what makes it outstanding is the fact that there is a larger picture, a plot to the story which gives a nice framework to the erotica. The Pet Shop is an amazing erotica story combining all kinds of erotic scenarios and putting its own twist on them. A highly unique approach of the dom/submissive pairing is at its center and I loved the exciting premise of spicing it with the owner/pet power disparity and personal relationship.

If you fear that the whole pet set up might be too kinky for you, I'd advise you still give it a try (make no mistake, these are humans having sex, there is just some serious role play going on, so no furry creatures at all!). The quality writing and the hot erotica will draw you in and the concept will make you think long after you have finished the story.

Verdict: I can't remember the last time I read such a combustive erotica novel. Every single sex scene is scorching hot and I loved that it was a full length novel and not a novella, it was so great that the story went on longer! What made The Pet Shop such an outstanding story was that besides the scorching hot erotica it was still an exciting story with intelligent characters and so much emotional substance which is quite rare in erotica novels. One of the hottest stories I have ever read, a definite Forbidden Favorite, and K.D. Grace just became an author I'll have to watch!

This is the first book from K.D. Grace I've read and it will not the last. Participating in reading challenges within a group, pushes you to read books out of your comfort zone and finding out what you like or didn't like within that story. With that being said, this was the first pet-play book I've ever read and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

Stella works for a company called Strigida, she receives a gift for her job well done with the company. She was expecting like a gift card or certificate, but her co-worker has something better, a pet from the Pet-Shop. Anne explains what the Pet-Shop is and what they do and she has Tino with her. Tino is one of the pets from the Pet-Shop and he will be staying with Stella for the weekend. Tino is usually well behaved pet, but there are times when he can be a naughty.

I liked the concept of what the Pet-Shop is. From what I assumed of the story, the pets were dogs. I want my own Tino, he was well behaved when he was suppose to be and punished when he was naughty. The weekend when Tino, stays when Stella, she's never had a lover like Tino before and she can't get enough of him. She will almost do anything to spend another weekend with Tino, even if it means to become a pet also.

I've read my fair share of kink-laden books, but even so, the idea of "pets" put me off. But I have to say, the story (while filled with a lot...and I do mean a lot of sex) was sweet.
There's a real plot, with conflict and a love story, too boot.

I enjoyed seeing both sides of the characters (the pet and the IRL parts). I loved how Stella and Tino's story evolved and changed. (The way he acted when they were with the professor... very much playing the Alpha pet protecting his mate)

As far as the sex...
KD Grace threw in everything AND the kitchen sink (yummy kitchen scenes)

There's a little BDSM, M/W, M/M, M/M/F, even a little F/F/F (which you don't see as often).

Over all, if you're not shy about erotica, don't be put off by the "subject" of the book. The story is well written and doesn't veer too far into bizzaro land.

This one was recommended to me by Ms Sheziss after I asked about a book that would be both sexy and one that would push me a tad out of my comfort zone.
Boy, did she deliver (thanks Gurl!)!
Not sure how a book that made me feel like this:

was also making me feel a whole lotta this:

It had it's funny moments, like I kept ready "back hole" as "black hole" and was thinking they probably made a cream for that, but then there was probably too much mention of "cream" in this one anyway. I was suspicious of just about anyone besides Stella and was wondering why she wasn't making connections (she's no Miss Marple is all I'm saying).

On the whole this was a very enjoyable read and I'll be checking out this author for more smut and weirdness.

Since reading her first book The Initiation of Miss Holly and Surrogates then her latest work Body Temperature and Rising one of my favorite all time books ever, I was without doubt it was going to be another incredible read.
Pet shop is KD Grace's second full novel and is unlike any erotic novel I have read; I really shouldn't have been surprised; KD has managed to find a niche and style that stands this book out from the rest. As soon as I read the first page I couldn't put it down, I finished this book in the early hours of the morning sleepy eyed and contented; that lovely feeling you get when you have been immersed for hours in somebody else's imagination.
Stella is a workaholic and perfectionist and absolutely loves her job working long hard hours and taking little time for herself; completely immersing herself with her work. So after a light hearted comment to her friend and colleague, her boss decided to give her a little...er...big gift. Most people receive a bonus or maybe flowers or chocolates but Stella received a new pet to love and to hold for the whole weekend...furry...claws...tail...wet nose...no; collar and lead...rippling muscles...mischievous grin...yes this was...Tino. Her life is about to change forever as she is thrown into the secret world of the petshop.
Due to KD's incredible writing we actually feel Stella's nerves and confusion, reluctance and complete shock and then we gradually watch as she becomes emotionally and sexually addicted to Tino the silent, playful pet and expert lover. Shortly afterwards she accidentally bumps into Vincent Evanston who looks strikingly like Tino but acts completely different towards her, this begins her obsession with these two gorgeous sexy men.

I absolutely loved the idea of a Petshop but you may expect a pure kinky BDSM book full of beatings and punishments. But no, KD has written this book with amazing creativity where every pet is treated with love and rewards and punishments are for the few that are naughty and misbehave...Tino and his mischievous ways causes him endless hot bum cheeks but its something he seems to enjoy. I loved Tino and his mischievous playful character; I will be surprised if he doesn't make you smile too.
I felt especially connected to Stella as she is completely relateable she could be anyone of us sitting at our keyboards right now. KD has an uncanny knack of making everything seem so very natural and ordinary not kinky at all; so we can completely understand the world of The Petshop.

Are these pets running round in furry costumes definitely not, its about emotions and extremely believable role playing. This book is incredibly well written with plenty of realistic believable sex scenes scattered everywhere throughout the book, each one completely relevant and different from the last and the "petshop style" giving it that extra special roleplay twist on everything. From mostly m/f, m/m and some super sexy f/f.

KD creates magic between the characters as the connections and conflicts are so believable; making us wanting to turn those pages faster to find out more. This unusual imaginative novel is addictive, fast paced and exciting. The ending as usual for KD has a brilliant twist I didn't see coming.
All her characters have substance and are intelligent human beings; we feel what they feel, we feel their hesitations and best of all we feel their passion how could I not love this book from the Mistriss of erotica.

I'll have to be honest it's not the best book I've ever read and I, unfortunately, had to force myself a few times to read it.

It takes place in the UK and is about a businesswoman name Stella who's ridiculously committed to her job and her job only. Her boss and colleague forcibly introduces her to one of their organizations, The Pet Shop. The Pet Shop is a shop where humans can rent human pets. That's all i'm saying! If you want more explanation, read the book! Just know that

Stella's job gifted deliciously disobedient Tino to Stella for a weekend. Stella, with no choice, accepted gift which is when Stella discovers the other side to her; There are such hot steamy events that will have you at the edge of your chair; such as when ....haha READ THE BOOK!!! Throughout the Pet Shop, Stella learns how to be a " Keeper", own a pet, and how to be a Pet as well. It's a very sexy book with a well thought out idea of D/S through pet play.

Would I recommend this book? Only if the Author hands it over a professional and skillful editor whom will thoroughly proofread it from beginning to end!!! Maybe she needs to be spanked into shape like Tino! As i mentioned before, i had a hard time getting through the book. My motivations were Tino and the BDSM challenge i'm partaking in. The misuse of punctuation marks irritated me greatly. She also tended to mix topics which made it a bit hard to follow the conversations or explanations.

I'm not too keen on people being pets to random strangers but i would consider being a pet myself to my significant other and maybe to people i trust for a little fun

I will however, because of Stella and Tino and Vincent, read part 2 and hopefully , if the authors' grammar improves, part 3. Have a happy Spanking Day!!

Not my kind of book really, though it was very hot :)

I guess the whole 'pet' subject wasn't for me. I'm sure there is a real life market for it out there, I just could not relate to it personally.

My favorite part of the book was the first couple of chapters which I found quite funny (when the main character is introduced to her 'pet'). It is quite well written, and it even has some romance which was nice.

Would recommend to anyone who likes erotica and thinks it sounds interesting to read about 'pets'. I'm sure most of you will like the book better then me, considering the other great reviews :)

Interesting Concept!

Ms Grace takes us on a trip to an erotic place called the Pet Shop. It is a place where the rich and powerful men and women get to let go of the outside world and live as a pampered pet would the exception being lots of sex and spankings! The pets may stay at the shop but most are sent to “Keepers” who will tend to them for a length of time, disciplining them when necessary, pleasuring them often.

There is a plot and a few story lines to this book. Each of them are well written and flowed together instead of jumping from scene to scene with no sense of order.

This book was hot and dirty but also sweet and sensuous. There were couplings for m/m, f/f/, m/f and multiple partners. No one gets left out. While the majority of the pairings were not my usual cuppa it was a very enjoyable read. There is a second book and I am looking forward to it!

Thank you Ms. Grace!

First of all, here's the list of emotions you'll find when I retell the events in this book:

- initial indifference
- a vague sense of discomfort
- shock
- utter shock
- bewilderment
- disbelief
- speechlessness
- dafuq?
- um.
- ooooooooooookaaaaaaaay.

and in the end: okay, I guess I got it--- not.

Now the chronological retelling of what happens in this book (SPOILERS!)

-----------------------SPOILERS AHEAD-------------------------------

The story is about this really hard working woman, Stella. One day, for a job well done and for other ulterior motives the reader isn't prior to YET, her colleague (the chef's secretary) comes over to her home with a guy on her leash.
First of all, I was like:

WTF? He's a human being! Then I restrained myself and thought: oh well, it's fiction. I've read stranger stuff. I thought: it's their sex life. If they like it that way, whatever.

Then, however, things started to get strange.

O'Kelly (said secretary): see, pets can't talk, y'know. You have to feed them and stuff. Oh no you DON'T, Tino! Stop dry-humping my leg!

Stella (&me): Dafuq is this shit.

Me: Good god, get the crazed thing away from me. Um, wait. He can't TALK? So he's, like, a slave in this pet shop, held against his will, not taught to act human and severly punished for all the things he does wrong? Oh my god. But - he's HUMAN! They can't do this! Why doesn't Stella see? How can she even think of not calling the cops when clearly human beings are being treated like this?!

Of course this rather naive thoughts of mine weren't correct. Pets, as they are called CAN talk. They won't, though, as long as they are with their "keepers".
They're basically hookers. Only they pay for it which was extremely awkward to discover.

So you can guess what happened. Stella took Tino (the pet) in and resisted him for about ten minutes, yaddaing about how she REALLY can't do this cuz' - just because, ok?
Then she goes to bed and her only thoughts are: oh no, the poor little animal must be so uncomfortably with his huge erection and I didn't even have sex with him! What a cruel thing to do to and animal.

Right. Only he isn't an animal. At that point, I wanted to throw my Kindle on the floor screaming "HUMAN RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHTS!". I was still under the impression that pets were mistreated humans who should be freed.

So then Stella has sex with the animal. The next morning, she wakes up and makes breakfast. As pets don't eat properly, she then proceeds to squish the scrambled eggs in her hand and put them all over her belly.
Actually, the amount of mistreated food in this book was horrendous.
My inner cook died a little bit when Stella put a mushroom in her XXX and let Tino XXX it.

Didn't your mother teach you not to play with food? Other people don't have food and you put it all over your body lik its body paint or something? That's what you have sex toys for. Stop putting mushrooms in places where they don't belong.

The weekend Stella got with Tino is over, and even though all they did was go at it like easter bunnies, she can't stop obsessing about him.
Her obsession with him goes so far, in fact, that she stalks his Pet Profile and promptly gets him on his next free weekend.

So he comes over again, they have sex (without mushrooms, thank god), and go to the cinema.
Of course Stella gets cornered in an ally afterwards and Tino gets all manly and breaks his nose.
Yay. Big love.

But then, suddenly, Stella sees Tinos picture on the internet. Could it be that he's.... a recluse millionaire in real life?!

description

Riiiiiiiiiight.

So instead of stalking Tino's Pet Profile (which she already knows by heart), she decides it's a great idea to start stalking the millionaire. YAY. That's exactly what I wanted to read about.

So then fate has it that the two lovely lovebirds meet (it's all a coincidence, of course...) and they have sex. In a forest.

description

Then, Tino cancels her next "meeting" with him. Devastated, Stella does something really smart: She becomes a Pet, too. Cuz that's going to solve all of her problems.

Stella becomes a pet, she has lots of wild pet sex and in the end they have sex again.

In the end, the book doesn't answer any of the important questions: are they together now? How do they deal with having sex with strange people all the time? How come they don't have STDs flowing all over them even though not one condom appears in the whole book? Who the hell would want to be a pet and why are there so many? Who is Strigida? What is the company actually doing apart from the Pet Shop thing? What the hell happened between O'Kelly and the boss?

All I got from this book was a lot of sex and many unanswered questions.
If you like erotica and don't mind being left in the dark, this book is for you. If not, look elsewhere.

------------------END OF SPOILER SECTION------------------

Even though this book was quite entertaining, it was also disgusting (I will never get over the terrible fate this tiny little mushroom had to endure. RIP little fungus. In a just world, this would never have happened to you.), stupid, nonsensical and downright strange.

The end didn't answer any of the important questions either.

I didn't hate it and I laughed a lot, so 2 stars.

The problem with the story is, there is some structure. And then there is no structure. This story needed heavy editing.
When the story seemed normal, I liked it. When it went into weird land, I didn't like it, because characters weren't structured.
Some readers might like some of the scenes. But in total, not a good read.

*Spoiler Alert*

This review is an effort to relieve myself of the anger I feel towards this book. This book turned into a horrible experience for me. I was truthfully reading this book for it's erotica and it had pretty good ratings and I felt like this book would definitely have good sex even if the story is ehhh... but after the first few sex scenes the sex in this book is as good as the story of this book which is not good at all.

Okay let's concentrate on the story. For one I have no idea why Vincent and Stella falling in love is any problem for Anne, exactly how does she think their romance is going to topple the Pet Shop, how? I have no idea but for Anne this is a major issue throughout the book. Also I don't understand Stella's self-righteous anger in the end where she storms off after being quite unconventionally courted to run the Pet Shop, I mean they pushed but she travelled those roads all on our own. I could not quite understand that situation.

The Boss, Alan and Anne are the people running the Pet Shop but the capital behind the venture comes from Vincent aka Tino. When Alan, Anne and Vincent want to expand this venture to the USA, they want to hire someone to run the Pet Shop in the UK, so that Anne can better concentrate on the running of the US franchise. So they decide they want Stella badly enough to lure her with a pet, Tino and then she falls so madly in love with Tino/Vincent that she agrees to become a pet for a chance to meet him, to then discover that Alan and Anne want her to run the Pet Shop but Vincent doesn't because he is in love with Stella and doesn't want to Stella to figure out it he owns the Pet Shop, but in the end she does find out and apparently the knowledge is so scarring that she declines the offer, quits her job and runs away for a month only to fall into Vincent's arms on her return but now sans any career opportunity.

Yeah so that is the story and the characters behind this book.

Now let's talk about the sex, when I started reading this book the sex was orgasmic but just when the author had given us this taste of good sex, she decided to follow this up with mediocre sex and then with sex involving any possible pairing that could have been featured, if you can think of it or not. Stella and Tino were a good pairing, they had all the awesome dynamics of being unconventional and sizzling hot chemistry to boot. Then we get VincentStella which is as good as VincentpetStella which is as good as same old same old especially after how good the same pairing was with Tino. Then we get AlanAnne and AlanTino which were not where I wanted my focus especially when finally things had started heating up with Stella beginning her pet training but turns out no matter how many members you can add to the orgy Stella ends up having sex only with Tino/Vincent and no one else.

And as for the love story, I feel like laughing out loud, there is absolutely nothing between Vincent and Stella except sex, so please excuse me if I want to laugh out loud if you mention love.

This book was supposed to be about lust and this intriguing concept of the Pet Shop, except the lust is not so hot towards the end and love is just a word that people use.

Okay, a word on the logistics and I am not even talking about the fact that condom/s is a word that figures exactly zero times in this book but I would have liked a mention on some sort of birth control even if it does nothing to prevent STDs. I wonder how convenient it is to be based out of America and still manage to spend most of your time in the UK and then manage to be so successful while being a recluse, who flies out to the UK anytime he wants to be a pet or even anytime he wants to feel comforted. Also does Strigada really have only three employees? and a word on Stella who is apparently a very beautiful, intelligent woman but according to the book has had no life whatsoever prior to Tino or so the book would have us believe. Also she has no work friends except Anne who is conveniently involved in the Pet Shop. And seriously how is this venture so profitable when no one gets paid ever. Ah well I would have overlooked almost anything if this book had lived up to my expectations but as it stands this book was a disaster.

Okay, I SO didn't recognize what I was diving in for when I downloaded this title, but it was a hugely fun story.

I'm giving it 4.5 stars, and I'm stating: FOR THE RECORD, I am generally averse to books that do not practice, or mention, safe sex. This book completely skips the STI banter and lots and lots of unprotected sex happens. I still (guiltily) liked it.

Here's why:
I have a soft spot for books about odd kink. I kinda think their the "redheaded stepchildren" in the erotica family. Lots of books out there cater to D/s fantasy, ménage, and even ménage Dom. But what about the Puppies!

Stella is a diligent worker for a British conglomerate that funds environmental work. Her bosses, Anne and Alan, think she'd do better in a new role--so they devise a few tests to see if she can hack it. Essentially, they give her a Pet, Tino, for the weekend.

Now, Tino isn't an ordinary pet. He's a Puppy, a man playing a role as an animal. He's unable to communicate except by "doggie" gestures. He must be kept au naturale, and fed as dogs are, and he's a bad, naughty, virile pup. Stella is at first aghast. How could he bosses send her what amounts to a prostitute--albeit a kinky one--for a weekend romp?! She tries to send Tino back, but has no way to do so. Overwhelmed with the situation, and mighty aroused, Stella allows Tino to comfort her on the second day. It isn't smexytimes, at first, but Tino knows how to turn the heat on. We all remember how that Other Stella got her groove back? Well, same here. Steamy, fo sho!

In fact, Stella enjoys Tino so much she tries to book him for another weekend. This is in line with Alan's plan, even if it upsets Anne. Anne's worried that Stella will fall for Tino and not be willing to head up the entire Pet Shop enterprise that she and Alan run. It seems a major part of funding the environmental work they do is raised by hiring out Pets, and training wealthy Pet wannabes. (That's kink-tastic, IMHO, turning tricks to support nature conservancy efforts...BRILLIANT!). Anne wants to move on to begin the North American Pet Shop branch, and Alan and Anne (and Tino) want Stella to take Anne's place in London, but all this is going on behind the scenes. Also, Anne has had a blistering crush on Alan for years, and is bursting to let him know--but only if he reciprocates....

Meanwhile, Stella meets Vincent, a reclusive American environmentalist, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Tino and acts nothing like her submissive Pet. How can she resolve her desires for the "two" men?

I'm not giving away any more, but the smexytimes happen early and often. They are unlimited in appearance and scope--especially when Stella agrees to undertake some Pet training of her own. Expect ménage, M/M, group, F/F, etc. In short, expect everything. It's a very sticky, kinky, sexy book from which two HEA's emerge in the end.

A sexy read with forgivable flaws.

This is the first of KD Grace's books that I'd read so I had no preconceptions about it at all, other than a friend had told me how much she had enjoyed it.

The good stuff:
The sex. KD gets to the sex fast and furious, this is not a story for the shy. The characters are all up for it pretty much all of the time and she manages to make this part and parcel of the story so that it doesn't seem at odds with the narrative or the character development.

The depiction of pets.
KD does a great job of initiating readers into the world of the human pet, she does so in a way that isn't too intimidating and really rather endearing. You can easily imagine the handsome Tino nuzzling into your palm. There is no pet paraphernalia to distract you other than the basic collar and lead that KD gives them which goes a long way to make you connect with the experience of the characters.

The story.
Put simply its a good story and well told, the narrative holds together. I liked the fact that the four main charachters have their own story arches that you move between, this gives a bit more depth to the plot.

The not so good stuff.
Well its all pure fantasy isn't it so I really shouldn't quibble, but my dull old brain was wondering about things like how Tino managed the weekly jet setting between North America and the UK how did he managed the jet lag and his day job as well as the debauched weekends of pet sex?

It felt that the story lost a little of its momentum at the end and it was tied up quickly with all the loose ends taken care of in the last few pages.

I also felt that despite managing to engage the main characters in lots of sex with lots of different emotional settings and reasons that some of the sexual descriptions got a little repetitive.

I think this says more about the genre and the problems inherent in the need to keep it up (excuse the pun) to the last page which means that plot becomes secondary to sex than it does about KD's ability as a writer.

Overall I enjoyed the inventiveness of the book and the deft way in which KD dealt with her subject, but it lost a little momentum at the end.

Spoilers - 3.5 stars mainly because some things made me feel super uncomfortable. The main one being that everything was a set up for this woman to be a worker there. But it left me thinking, why the fuck does she have to go through all that to run your business? The chick who's running it now wasn't a pet, a handler maybe but not a pet. But they set it up using her attraction to Tino, by sending her t see the Pet in his human time to make her feel like she had to do it to be closer to him.

They all knew her feelings (crazily in love with someone she demeans as a glorified prostitute, even after being told pets pay to be pets, never speaking to him and just fucking him), yet pushed her in that direction. When she claims she wants out, the handlers push her anyway and tell her Tino's joining her for her handler visit. For real? If you tell someone if they talk they're pulling out, then when they do tell them they're silly, you're completely unprofessional.

It looks incredibly like they groomed her into the lifestyle even if she enjoyed it. I mean sure, she liked being a handler and playing a pet with him too, but then to be a pet? A lot of it really is just convincing her and letting her agree to it later, but because of the fact they talked about knowing her answers and stuff, and keeping things from her specifically, it just felt wrong to me.

If those people were the bad guys, I wouldn't have had a problem, but it's kind of just washed over in the end with I love you's and everything was a little predictable in terms of plot development as you went along.

However, that isn't to say the erotic element is fucking the bomb. It's good, great, fantastic. There's many different types of interactions including an orgy outside for everyone to see, and the pet thing still isn't a bad thing to be reading. It was really the plot development and how things panned out that left me hesitant to like to book. I'm super against lying to people if you want something from them, and literally the whole book is a lie while they groom her, just to run the a pet shop. I still can't get over it honestly..

I received this review copy free of charge in return for an honest review.

The Pet Shop is one of those books where there's never a good place to stop ....you always want to read more!

When Stella is handed a human pet for the weekend as a gift from her employers, she is adament that she won't be using him for his intended purpose. That is until Tino begins to familiarise himself with his new Keeper and she can resist his charms no longer. She gives in to temptation and allows Tino to take her on a journey of pure ecstasy, exploring every inch of her sexuality. He's rarely obedient and always hard and horny which is exactly what Stella needs for a weekend of relaxation.

When the time comes for Tino to return to The Pet Shop, Stella is already smitten with her wanton pet. She wastes no time in trying to hire him for another weekend of mind-blowing sex and so begins her fascination. Not only is she curious to know more about Tino, but she's also very curious about The Pet Shop and all the goings on there. Keen to learn, Stella has more than a few surprises jumping up along the way, not least that of her own sexual desires.

I don't want to give too much away about the storyline, but there are a few unexpected twists and turns along the way which kept me guessing almost till the very end. This is the first book i've read by the lovely KD Grace and I have to say that her writing style is truly captivating. There are real emotions in this story which can be felt by the reader, and the sex scenes, wow, they are truly HOT!! There's a good mixture of F/F, M/F, M/M as well as solo play and a whole lot in between ....something to suit every taste!!
This is one erotic fantasy that I wouldn't hesitate in recommending .....just don't forget the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the door! ;)

Whatever your kink, stick with this book and you’ll probably find something you like.

The story’s protagonist, Stella, is the hard-working employee of an environmental agency whose employers decide to provide her with a ‘pet’, Tino, for the weekend in recognition of all her hard work. Expecting a rather more conventional employee reward – like some theatre tokens for example - Stella is surprised to take delivery of a sexy guy who comes compete with collar, lead, instruction manual and near-permanent erection.

Despite her initial reservations, Stella soon gets into the swing of things enjoying a weekend of sexy fun with her obedient ‘pet’ before having to return him to his handlers. Unable to put Tino from her mind, she is desperate to see him again and finds herself eager to find out more about him - to find out who he really is when he is not being a kinky housepet for paying customers.

When she finds Vincent Evanston , a wealthy, reclusive naturalist and Tino’s alter ego, she discovers a man as different in temperament from Tino as it is possible to be. As their mutual attraction grows, Stella needs to find a way to understand the two seemingly contradictory sides to Tino/Vincent’s personality.

Along the way, we find out more about The Pet Shop and how it operates through Alan and Annie, Stella’s bosses and secret pet shop string-pullers and through Stella’s ongoing quest to understand more about the organisation, even to the extent of training to become a pet herself where she finds herself on the receiving end of a belt whipping for breaking pet shop rules.

Alongside the hot animal sex, spankings and three-ways, there is a nicely satisfying story at the heart of this story as Stella and Vincent develop their relationship both inside and outside ‘the Pet Shop’.
