Q2 Book Review #1
Book Review by: Hunter B. Brown

The book that this review is on is “MOTOCROSS DOUBLE-CROSS” by Jake Maddox. This book is realistic fiction and published by STONE ARCH BOOKS. This book is about; when two motocross rider’s bike start getting sabotaged and they set out to find out who is doing it.

In the book, the two motocross riders riders names are Carlos and Ricky. The book starts off in a motocross race, and after the race ends Ricky and Carlos go to check out the schedule to see when the next race would be. When they got there to check out the schedule, Mr. Martin (the Del Rey track owner) was taking down the last month’s schedule. Mr. Martin did not have the schedule because he had to wait for the guy at Benson Motors to send the schedule (Benson Motors made all the engines). (Benson Motors was sponsoring a series of races at Del Rey and at the Watkins race track, and the winners at each track would go up against each other for a sponsorship.) When it came time for the first race a man named Mr. Dylan inspected their bikes. During the race Carlos found out someone poked a hole in his fuel line and blamed it on Ricky. The next race Carlos had fixed his bike and stayed to watch during the inspection. During the race, Ricky found out that someone had poked a hole in his back tire and blamed it on Carlos. When Ricky confronted Carlos, Carlos explained to Ricky how it must be someone else sabotaging their bikes. So Carlos and Ricky go to look at the Watkins track website and the boy in first place is Jeremy Dylan (who has the same last name as Mr. Dylan), so they tell Mr. Martin. Mr. Martin calls Mr.Benson and tells Mr. Benson what is going on. So the Next morning after dropping off their bikes for inspection, Ricky and Carlos go up to Mr. Martins office and watch the inspection with Mr. Martin and Mr. Benson. During the inspection Mr. Dylan drops a tablet of some kind into the gas tanks. Mr. Benson, Mr. Martin, Carlos, and Ricky came out of the office and confronted him. Then, Mr. Benson fired Mr.Dylan, and gave Ricky and Carlos a sponsorship.

In this book, Mr. Dylan is the antagonist and Carlos and Ricky are the protagonists. I like this book and all the books by Jake Maddox. I like his books because he makes books that are about sports, and in almost all of his books he writes it about a cheater or a wrong player.

Overall, I think this book and all Jake Maddox’s books are very good. I would recommend this book and all other Jake Maddox books to anyone who likes sports and other people. And finally, I rate this book a 5 out of 5 because in my opinion this is an all around good book.

Plot: this is a book is about how two Friend are together as one and then someone else was sabatohing there bikes to make it look like each other were doing it to there friends were doing it.

Theme:Carlos and Ricky are mad at each other and they finally figure out that they are not doing that to there to each other bikes and that it is someone else and they are not mad a each other.

Opinion: I dont think it was right what the inspector was doing to Carlos's and Ricky's bikes and that they did the right thing and tracked down the inspector.
