It was ok. I didn't really feel any chemistry between the MC's, which is kinda ironic considering the name of the book. It was a pleasant read, just not all that memorable.

This newest volume of the ‘Chemistry’ series is another fun story about a science major who runs into the love of his life and doesn’t really know what to do about it. More timid than his colleagues in previous books, Brad needs several nudges and some luck to even start trying. As an additional complication, Jordy, the man he is interested in is an American studies major, and a lot more comfortable around people than Brad could ever dream of being. Not to mention that he has a boyfriend! And as the story develops, the parallels with electrochemistry become clear: “electrochemistry deals with the interaction between electrical energy and chemical change”. The “electricity” between Brad and Jordy may be virtual, but it definitely changes everything.

Brad is a science major with ambitions to solve the problem of fusion as an energy source. Ambitious and driven to succeed, he also has to work if he wants any spending money since his parents only pay for tuition and board. I think it actually does the slightly nerdy Brad some good to work in a supermarket,. While he is not a fan, it forces him to stay in touch with “real life” and teaches him how to deal with people. Not that he likes any of it, but he has little choice. It is also where he first notices fellow student Jordy who seems unattainable for many reasons until they cross paths on a cruise.

Jordy is gorgeous, outgoing, and a real people person. He used to be a ballet dancer and still moves with a lot of grace. He is clearly attracted to Brad, but he still struggles over his suboptimal, to put it carefully, relationship with his current boyfriend. Spending time with Brad and feeling the sizzling attraction gives him lots to think about, but he is not one to go for change easily.

The friendship and shipboard romance develops slowly, but the sparks do fly once they get going. Jordy is a breath of fresh air for Brad, and Brad gives Jordy the support the current boyfriend never did. If you like sweet, slow-burn romances, if you enjoy reading about two men who both hesitate about committing for very different reasons and don’t mind that one of them is still in a relationship while starting the next one (even though it is over inside his head), and if you're looking for a read with an exotic onboard setting in the sun, then you will probably like this novel.

Another cute addition to the series. Still not as good as the first book IMO but read worthy nonetheless. I just loved the first scene with Jordy and his "Footloose" parking lot scene. It gave a great picture of him. And Brad, poor geeky Brad. Although I don't think he was nearly as nerdy as he thought. Unlike the other two, most of this one takes place on a cruise ship so we don't get the college atmosphere much. I missed that. And thank you for a girl bff who was wonderful. I loved her!

Another great story from Andrew Grey, I'm never disappointed with his books. A stand alone even though it's part of a series. I don't feel like I missed anything not reading book 2. Characters from previous books make an appearance but not enough to make a difference in the story.

Started strong, but ultimately I wasn't sure that I felt that the MCs really had anything in common. Not my favorite of the series.

All aboard the LOVE BOAT for a romantic cruise around the Caribbean.

Brad always admires from afar but when it actually comes to chatting anybody up, he gets completely tongue tied and normally doesn’t get a word over his lips. Oh how I know this feeling especially when you find someone attractive that you feel will never be interested in you because you don’t have enough confidence in yourself. Especially when you think that you aren’t good looking or interesting enough and what would said person possibly see in me. This is Brad’s problem and I found this endeared me to him immediately. He is a little nerdy but totally lovable, one of those characters you could really imagine having a fun time with once you get to know him.

Jordy is at the same college but doesn’t really notice Brad as he already in a relationship with one of the football players, is confident and out. A turn of events brings them together and they discover that they get on well together and this in turn develops into a sweet on board romance.

Brad’s parents are going on a week’s cruise during Thanksgiving and he brings his best friend Helen. I loved Helen, a girl from a poor background, but always positive, upbeat and hard-working. She also has a wicked sense of humour, so if you don’t have a boyfriend then what do you do? Of course, you take your best friend! Helen’s joy about being able to go on such a holiday of her dreams was completely infectious. When you come from having nothing then you really appreciate great things when they happen to you. I just loved the way she managed to find a way to make everything possible. I really admired her for her tenacity to get on and make a future for herself.

She also loves Brad like a brother but nothing more. This I find the best thing about having a close female friend, being gay myself we always seem to find our soul sister and that is exactly what Helen is to Brad.

Brad’s mum is always still hoping that he’ll find a girl and I just loved the way that Andrew writes about this. Brad’s dad is more realistic with his son’s sexuality than his mum. You know his mum doesn't mean it and loves Brad totally, but she hopes that he might find a young lady that’ll turn his head. I love how this was reflected, unintentionally his mum hurts his feelings sometimes by her over exuberance that Brad is bringing a girl on holiday with him. He tries telling her Helen is his closest friend and will not be anything else. But Brad puts up with it as he knows she doesn’t really mean it. This led to a wonderful moment later in the book where the love of mother and son really shines through. They both have a real mother son heart-to-heart that left me with a warm glow all over. Lovely!

Jordy happens to be on the boat with his parents and younger sister too. Once Brad and Helen spots him Helen gives Brad the push he needs. I loved the way Helen is always encouraging him to speak to Jordy. W all need a little push from good friends and Helen is a master at it. I could so see that without Helen Brad would never have worked up the gumption to speak to anyone he fancies I reckon.

While they are on board ship for the week they have time to get to know each other until the attraction can no longer be denied once Brad sees that Jordy also feels the same way. I loved the whole backdrop of a Caribbean cruise liner. I have never been on such a cruise but it sounds like pure luxury, a dream, and I guess if you are going to fall in love then there’s no better place to do it. A real holiday romance.

This story is a light-hearted and relatively quick read, just took me a little over three hours. So a perfect read on the beach while sunning yourself and soaking up the rays on holiday. So when you’re backing for your next holiday make sure you have this one in your eBook suitcase. After reading this I was definitely in a holiday mood for sure.

Awww… What a sweet story! I’ve said it before, I’ll probably say it again, Andrew Grey writes a good, sweet story. It is what he does, and he does it well. This is a nice coming of age, college boys fall in love story, with minimal drama, and no angst.

Brad is a college student, working part time to supplement his parental paid for education. He works evenings at a local grocery store, with his best friend Helen. One evening, he sees a beautiful boy pull in to the parking lot, singing and dancing his way through a bit of shopping. Brad stalks him around the store, but freezes up and can’t speak! He sees him several times around campus after that, but is too shy to say anything, besides, he sees Jordy has a boyfriend anyway. Then Brad’s parents ask him to go on a Thanksgiving cruise, and suggest he bring a friend. He asks Helen if she’ll go, and a few months later, they head off to Florida for a wonderful cruise. Imagine Brad’s surprise when he spots Jordy, his crush, on his cruise ship! Yeah, I know, it’s quite a coincidence, but just go with it! It works. Anyway, they connect, fun is had, love is started, and that’s all I’ll say!

The plot is minimal, but it’s still an enjoyable story. There are lots of details about life on a cruise ship, and a visit to the Caribbean islands, that was quite fun. I know from following Andrew on Facebook that he has been on that cruise, and it shows. He knows his stuff! I suspect he made an appearance in his book too, there is a recently married gay couple that have a cameo appearance that made me think of Andrew and his husband! There is not a lot of sex, they are on a ship afterall, but what there is was very sweet. There is that word again…. Sweet. It was just a sweet little book! I do like lots of drama and action in my books, but sometimes there is something comforting about a book like this. I knew what was going to happen and how it would end, and that was just fine. I think I said in my last review of one of Andrews books, that reading one of his lighter books is like watching a familiar TV show or a movie. You know what will happen, but you enjoy it anyway. Comfort food.

Brad and Jordy are a nice young couple, they work well together, and I’d actually like to see them again in five or ten years once they have grown up. They both have big plans to save the world, it would be fun to see what they make of themselves! The extra characters where good, I especially liked Helen, Brad’s best friend. She was a strong character on her own, and added a lot of interest to the story. Both boys families are quite visible as well, adding to the fun of the cruise.

Overall it was a light hearted, sweet (again with that word!), enjoyable book. If you have been reading heavy books, this one could provide a nice break, if you like Andrew Grey’s lighter books, you’ll probably like this one as well.

Andrew Grey’s third installment of the chemistry series is Electrochemistry. None of the books is really about chemistry of the academic variety, but rather the personal type ;) All three are college age geek love stories, sort of YA+, I think the type is new adult. Brad and Jordy are both 19 and are college students in Pennsylvania, but most of this story takes place on a cruise, so it has the feeling of a vacation-romance.

I had read and enjoyed the first two “chemistry” books, so I was looking forward to reading this, but the vacation aspect was less appealing to me as a story line. (I can’t help but feel that any romance begun on vacation is doomed to fail under the force of “back to reality” – I guess we all have our lines in the sand where “suspension of disbelief” meets “unbelievable”.) Anyhow, what appealed to me in the first two stories is the “geek” factor – I love me a good nerd story! Brad is kind of nerdy – he calls himself “ordinary” and Jordy is a former dancer – so he represents the “beauty/jock” stereotype, but that is about where the nerd part ends, and that was a disappointment.

There were many other parts that just didn’t do it for me. I didn’t like how Jordy treated Brad or his relationship with Mark. It was jolting when Jordy, seemingly, all of the sudden decided he wanted to “try things” with Brad. We aren’t given Jordy’s POV so it seemed to come from left field. I never felt Jordy really cared for Brad. Jordy never once told Brad he wasn’t ordinary, he simply said that he is no longer “all about appearances”. Ugh. Brad – you are special! ☺

Most of the book is a very tame almost YA story line. It felt more like high school than college, which would have been fine, except that somewhere in the middle there is a random full on sex scene that just didn’t fit in with the rest of the sweet story. I’m not sure why it was there and it even seemed the characters were shocked by it as they went back to their mostly platonic romance after that. It was out of place and strange.

Then there was the lack of conflict in this book, which can be ok, but in this case made it kind of slow moving and not very inspired. Brad spends a few moment wondering: “Does he like me? Will we be together back at school? What about the boyfriend?” But those are only minor obstacles the two face. Well, except for another random scene near the end where Mark-the-ex goes crazy and chases the pair across campus. That, too, was out of place and strange.

It was interesting learning what a cruise was like and I really liked Helen, Brad’s friend. There was a small “moment” where Brad and his mom re-connect. But mostly it was a travel story about being on a cruise to the Bahamas.

I admit I kind of felt let down. The first two books were really sweet and I liked them a lot. This one felt thrown together and not treated with the usual care Andrew gives his books.

So, as an Andrew Grey fan I give this book a 2 of 5 hearts, if I hadn’t been a fan I would probably have not finished the book.

I received my copy from the publisher through Love Romances and More

This was a charming story and a wonderful read. There was so much to like in this book. Brad is a charming character although very insecure about himself and shy. He is convinced he’s not really attractive and can’t imagine why anyone would be interested in him. When Jordi, the boy he’s been admiring from afar for months, finally shows an interest in him, it takes Brad some time to believe it is actually happening, to him.

Jordi was a fascinating character. On the surface very secure in himself he struggles with doubts about the relationship he’s in, which is going nowhere fast. I liked that he took his time to make up his mind, both about the old relationship and about Brad. And I liked how he made Brad feel better about himself.

I loved Helen, Brad’s best friend and co-worker. I adored the way she supported and encouraged Brad. She’s the sort of friend all of us should have; loyal to a fault as well as great fun.

Brad’s mother was another great character. I liked the way her ambivalence towards his homosexuality was treated. It wasn’t that she had a hard time with her son being gay. She just didn’t want to give up on her dream of a big wedding and grandchildren. It was good to see mother and son work out this really not very big issue in a warm and loving conversation rather than a big fight.

I did get a bit bogged down in all the detail of Brad’s day at times. I wasn’t convinced I needed the almost minute by minute and step by step descriptions of what he did and where he went. Having said that, it didn’t distract me from the story or stop me from enjoying it. I really liked the quiet and calm pace of this book. This story didn’t need shocks to be interesting and didn’t require major angst to keep the reader rooting for Brad and Jordy. Their romance was sweet and yet realistic while their issues were recognisable and appropriate to their age and circumstances. And when the two young men do get together they make a very hot couple without the book ever getting overly descriptive.

Overall this was a sweet romance and an ideal read for a lazy summer’s afternoon. Reading a book about a romantic cruise while sitting in the sun, really does make for a wonderful experience.

Brad Jergens is a slightly struggling college student majoring in chemistry. He comes from money, but when he blew through an entire semesters funds in just a month, his parents made him get a job to make his own money for extras. So he works at the local supermarket with his best friend, Helen. One day at work one Jordy Fleming drives into his life, and it will never be the same. Jordy is flamboyant, gorgeous and full of life and energy. Everything that Brad thinks he is not. With the Thanksgiving Holiday approaching, Brad invites Helen to go on a family cruise with himself and his parents. No sooner than they board the ship, Helen spots Jordy who is vacationing with his family as well.

Over the week long cruise Brad and Jordy become fast friends and learn a lot about each other. Brad is becoming quite attached, but he's worried what will happen after the cruise. Jordy has opened up to him a lot while on vacation, talking about how his relationship hasn't turned out to be what he thought, or what he wants. With each passing day the two get closer and their relationship moves from friendship to something more passionate. Brad is falling hard and fast for Jordy, but he worries that he will get hurt in the end, that what happens on the cruise, stays on the cruise.

I really enjoyed how Grey took his love for Cruise ships and poured that into this story. The descriptives of the various activities and amenities onboard added an extra element to the story. This could have easily been a Seven Days story (another series by Andrew Grey) as it played out much like those books. The two main characters lives change dramatically and eternally over a period of seven days. And though Helen and the parents were secondary characters, they had a huge impact within the storyline. Brad's mom aggravated me almost to the breaking point, but she found her way in the end. Overall this was just a very sweet story about love on the high sea.

A must read for Andrew Grey fans and those hopeless romantics that really enjoy a heart warming love story with a nice happy ending.

Oh this was really sweet.

I love it when Andrew Grey comes up with a sweet story that was very light and very fast to read. It is almost 200 pages long but it was so lightly written, it felt too short a read and I just lost myself in this.

There is practically no angst to this little story, about two young men who go to the same college. Brad saw Jordy first from a distance then got up close and a bit impersonal in the grocery he works night shifts in. They had no connection at first, what with Brad too shy to say anything but asking how he could help him out and Jordy just too deep in his head to really notice Brad.

Until the two meet on a cruise and they got to spend time together.

Two young men gravitating to each other, the school and lack of other young men around their only two things in common. It was a slow start for them but once they finally did sit down and start getting to know each other and become friends, Jordy begins to realize that there were some things he had taken for granted and one of them was to be treated like nothing. He discovers being treated as an equal was not only better for him, but he finds he does have this right and privelege. Quite an epiphany.

This is one of Grey's sweetest stories and this being Young Adult themed, it was just perfect in its own way. I would not call this an HEA, it is more like an HFN type of story but there are a lot of promises that make the future of the two young men more solid than the rest. It was a great read, short for me as it was. Definitely a must read for all Grey fans like myself and actually a great starting point for those who want to delve into the MM genre for the first time.

Andrew Grey gives us a happy, nearly angst-free story of college-age love. Brad Jergens and Jordy Fleming are brought together through a series of coincidences, meeting first at the store where Brad works, then bumping into each other on campus, and finally finding themselves on the same holiday cruise with their families.
The cruise is the really fun part of the book, with Brad and Jordy exploring every facet of a large cruise ship and ports of call. It made me want to book my first cruise immediately. By the end of the cruise Brad and Jordy have begun what could be a continuing love affair, if they will just let themselves admit their attraction is something more than a shipboard romance.
Do you ever find yourself wanting a story that is just romantic love, spiced up with erotic moments of passion, leading up to a happy ever after ending that could be the beginning of a forever love affair? Mr. Grey gives us that kind of lusty, tender story in Electrochemistry. The main characters are good people you care about and the secondary characters are equally well developed and worth your attention. The locations are brilliantly described, including the ship itself; it's almost like a little movie about cruising. This is a sweet story with a happy beginning, middle and end.

Sweet and Tender in Keeping With the Settings and Series

This is an unusual love story in that it takes place on a Caribbean cruise--oh, really, a love story on a cruise? Well, what is different is that quite serendipitously two students of Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, who are mere acquaintances on campus find themselves sailing on this Thanksgiving break outing with their respective families--and nothing happens until, well, no spoilers.

This is a laid-back, sometimes laconic, addition to Andrew Grey's sweetly developed Chemistry series which has some character references and appearances by characters in the first two books--each of which was more angst and action-driven than this one.

But what settles the satisfaction for me is not just how it ends, but how it logically gets there--cruising along as in a fog like everyone in these situations tend to do on the high seas, and then jettisoned back into almost brutal reality when you return home.

Hope Grey continues this series--he lives in the town and he brings it to life with the love lives of his characters.

What happens when you mix a short, cute, ex-dancer (who sings off-key) and a science nerd? Sparks, emotional and personal growth, and an HEA that will have you swooning.

Electrochemistry is book #3 in the Chemistry novella series by Andrew Grey and I have to say, it’s a great ‘coming of age’ story. I love both Brad and Jordy so much! Traveling along as Brad and Jordy dance around each other is both wonderful and heartbreaking at the same time. Brad sees himself as ordinary and Jordy as beyond amazing. Jordy sees Brad as sweet, caring, and sexy. What each man has to teach the other is nothing less that wonderful, though and the secondary characters are too fun. (Hey, it’s a cruise, has to be fun, right?)

I recommend this story for any that love HEAs, ‘coming of age’ stories, or sweet and building love, then this story is for you.

I loved the beginning of this book, and through the cruise was so fun to read. For some reason I missed that the mc's name was Brad, I don't know if I didn't notice it or it wasn't mentnioned til later in the book. But when it was I had no idea who they were talking about. I loved Jordy, he really was a fun character. When you find out more of how his life is it was sort of sad. I really how they started hanging out more and just enjoying each other. I felt like the end was rushed and a lot of questions were not answered. I wanted to know how it all worked out for Brad's best friend. She was a pretty big part of the story then we never saw how her story ended up. It seemed like Brad and Jordy's story was also rushed at the end. I liked it but I think if it was a little longer it would have been a lot better story.

Electrochemistry is the third book in the Chemistry series by Andrew Grey. As with most of Grey’s series, you don’t actually have to read the series in order to enjoy each title. In this case the link is that at least one character has a love of chemistry, and they attend Dickinson college in Carlisle, PA. (Yes, the same Carlisle from the Of Love series… Actually, a few of those eateries show up in the Chemistry series, but again those are little Easter eggs for those who have read the Of Love series. It is not required to enjoy the Electrochemistry series.

Andrew Grey is another of my favorite authors, but this book didn't give me the connection I had hoped. It was a cute but simple story that takes place on a cruise ship where Jordy and Brad meet up accidentally and forge a connection between the two of them. Jordy is so confident and at home in his skin that he radiates awesomeness wherever he goes and I really enjoyed his character the most. Brad is also a shy nerdy sweet guy who needs more self confidence, but he falls for Jordy and they are really sweet together. I would have given the book 4 stars, but the epilogue fell flat for me.

Sweet! I enjoy this series because my science brain gets giddy when I read stuff pertaining to chemistry and the like, lol. As always, I enjoyed the epilogue and I also enjoyed all the cruise stuff! I've never been on one but it always interested me! It was also nice to revisit the characters from the other two books! :)

I loved the romance at sea episode; I have cruised a lot and the details were great. I loved and was drawn the the MCs. I really liked the female best friend and the parents. The mother finally saw the light, so to speak. Another great book I in the series. A 6 stars rating pfrom me.

3.5 really
I loved most of the story, but the end was SO rushed. Just a few more pages about adjusting to life off the ship would've made it a strong 4 or 5 star.

I don't like the fact that Jordy and Brad slept together before Jordy officially breaks up with his boyfriend. Isn't that kinda like cheating? Just my opinion. I'm very particular about that.
