A car crash. A cowboy. And a moody tween. That’s how my happily-ever-after starts.
An adorable cowboy literally carries me to safety after my car flips, and that’s when I feel it. The spark. Until meeting him, I always thought the spark was just figurative. Nope. Real tingles.
He’s friendly and attentive but cautious, and I start to think he isn’t interested. Then I get the scoop. Carson recently adopted his nephew and is learning to be a dad. To a preteen.
That only makes me like Carson more. I make that clear, and we start dating. Taking it slow, we date in secret for a while. And the little spark turns into more.
When it’s clear this isn’t a passing infatuation for either of us, he introduces me to Fred.
And the kid doesn’t like me.
How do I get him to understand that I don’t want to divide their little family? I just want to become part of it.
Is it even possible to get a tween boy to change his mind? I hope so. My happily-ever-after depends on it.
Remi Carrington is the figment of Pamela Humphrey's imagination. She loves romance & chocolate, enjoys disappearing into a delicious book, and considers people-watching a sport. She was born in the pages of the novel Just You and then grew into an alter ego.
She writes sweet romance set in Texas. Her new series, Bluebonnets & Billionaires, will launch in Jan 2019. Her books are part of the Phrey Press imprint.
This was another delightful and heartwarming story from Remi Carrington. Her Cowboys of Stargazer Springs Ranch books are all cozy reads with sweet romances, humor, and such lovable characters. I thoroughly enjoyed Daphne and Carson’s love story.
After Daphne’s car flips, Carson witnesses the accident and carries her to safety. She immediately feels a spark with him. He’s friendly and attentive but seems clueless about her attraction to him.
When she openly communicates her attraction to him, he’s cautious. Carson recently adopted his preteen nephew and has been working on establishing a good relationship with him, so he wants to take things slowly with Daphne.
They start to date in secret for a while, and the little spark turns into more. When things get a little more serious, Carson introduces Daphne to his nephew, Fred.
Fred doesn’t seem to like her, and Daphne tries to help him understand she doesn’t want to divide their family, but just become a part of it.
✨ I loved the open communication between Carson and Daphne.
✨ Carson is a little on the chubby side and I really liked the body positivity about that.
✨ I loved that Daphne understood Carson making Fred his main priority and didn’t feel jealous or threatened by it.
✨ I loved all their dates and the slow burn romance that felt authentic.
This is book 9 in the series, but can be read as a standalone.
If you love sweet and heartwarming romances, this is a great series to check out!
I have loved this sweet and swoony cowboy series from Remi Carrington so much! More Than a Little Spark was no different. It was a fun and easy read that made me smile and sigh with happiness.
When Daphne gets run off the road, in her Daphne Scooby Doo costume no less, Carson witnesses the accident and literally carries her to safety. She feels a spark for him right away. Meanwhile Carson is clueless and thinks she is way out of his league. Not that it matters, his priority right now is his preteen nephew, Fred, whom he recently adopted.
This was just the sweetest story! Carson is a gentleman. So funny and kind. He takes such good care of Daphne, but he is not your typical MMC. Carson considers himself slightly on the chubby side and is a little self conscious about it at first, not thinking Daphne can be attracted to someone like him. When she does make her attraction for Carson known the two proceed very cautiously and date in secret for a bit. Carson is focused on establishing a good relationship with his preteen nephew Fred. I loved the open communication between Carson and Daphne from the start and how she understood and accepted Carson needing to put Fred first. I also loved the uniqueness of this story, how they met and the entire premises. This is a slow burn romance but high on swoony moments. Their first rain kiss is unforgettable! Loved this story and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a heart melting story.
This is the 9th and final book in the series, but can be read as a standalone. Although, I recommend reading them all as these cowboys are family and appear in each other's books. I also loved the wrapup epilogue that gave me a glimpse into the future of everyone I have come to love on Stargazer Springs Ranch.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I can always count on Remi Carrington to deliver an engaging story with amazing characters who can steal your heart. This one was no different.
The meet cute was dramatic with the car accident, but who doesn’t want a handsome hero to carry you to safety? (Swoon). I liked Daphne’s personality. She knew what she wanted and wasn’t afraid to verbalize it. Carson was a big teddy bear. So sweet and caring.
This is an awesome example of clean romance with great role models for the younger characters. It would be a perfect world if we could all live at Stargazer Springs. :)
There’s something about this series that feels like a warm hug—swoony, romantic stories wrapped up in a closed-door package that still crackles with chemistry. This latest book in the series lived up to my expectations.
From the adorably dramatic meet-cute, the sparks were flying. I loved the strong family vibes, humor, and heart woven throughout. There were so many touching moments—I could truly feel the emotions.
This one stood out with a non-typical MMC. Carson is on the heavier side and has his struggles. I love imperfect characters with authentic issues. Daphne and Carson were so likable and their connection was genuine. Their sparks are instant but Carson’s main focus is raising his nephew and doing his best for him, rounding out the story to add some tension. Despite their plan to move slow they find themselves secretly dating. I was utterly addicted.
And, without giving anything away - that epilogue!!!
This can be read as a standalone, but since each book in the series leads into the next, reading them in order makes the experience even better.
Absolutely loved this one! I thought it would be hard to top Dallas & Rose’s love story but Carson & Daphne’s is so swoony! The way those two took care of each other and the love & understanding was heart melting. Love all of these cowboys🤎
This book was cuteness overload! I smiled through pretty much the whole book and couldn’t get enough of Carson and Daphne! This series just gets better with every book and I would be okay if this series never ended!
First off, that meet cute….it was unique and hilarious! Carson showed us off the bat how kind and good he truly is. He was the definition of a true gentleman cowboy.
I loved how Carson wasn’t your typical MMC with a six-pack (prob bc my man is on the squishy side, which I love!😉) He was strong, handsome and so swoony!! His relationship with his nephew, Fred, was pure sweetness. They had so many good scenes together and some brought tears.
Daphne was so much fun! I loved her spunky personality! When she flirted with Carson and he was clueless, it cracked me up! She knew what she wanted and went after it with all she had. She was determined to show Carson how attractive and wanted he was despite his size. She loved his heart above all, which is what truly matters.
I just loved these two and I know you will love them as much as I did! The way they show each other they care for the other…it’s just beautiful.
And if you love a good rainy kiss scene that makes you melt, then Carson and Daphne have got you covered! 🔥😍
Things you’ll love: 💙The meet cute 💙Squishy MMC 💙Sweet Fred 💙Christmas gifts 💙When he carries her 💙Valentine’s Day date 💙Kissing in the rain 💙The swing 💙Tailgate + Throw Pillows 💙Bonus Epilogue!
Seriously, you need this book in your life. And if you’ve read any of the books in this series then you will LOVE that bonus epilogue!!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is the 9th book in the Cowboys of Stargazer Springs series. It is a kisses only contemporary romcom. It is a standalone story but contains characters from the previous books. I recommend reading them to get the most enjoyment, especially with the epilogue. Having said that, I have not read all of the books, only about half, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I do want to read the first ones that I missed. Especially since this particular series is completed.
I am not a huge fan of instalove books and was afraid that this was going to turn into that. But it doesn't really. There's more depth than just instalove allows. I really enjoyed the different layers that this story contained.
I did receive an advanced digital copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
You’ve got a single dad cowboy who rescues the leading lady from a car wreck—and so begins a sweet story of navigating dating after recently adopting a preteen. Add in the found family of the Stargazer Springs Ranch and you have a story full of feels, laughs, and the sweetest HEA.
TW: (Past) Family struggling with addiction and/or depression, Adoption
– this is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone *there is an additional epilogue at the end of this book with points of view for the other couples in this series much later down the road in their lives
– this is told from Carson & Daphne’s points of view
-Carson has custody of his nephew
-there are mentions of a character’s parent lashing out due to constantly working (and barely being home/aware at home) & grieving at the same time (past/present events); the character parented their siblings until they moved out (past event)
-a character’s sibling/parent is mentioned to have/had an addiction & choosing significant others who caused changes in the household (moving homes, disliked/harsh to children in the household, significant other not being nice to sibling/parent they were in a relationship with)
Review:
I love Remi’s cowboys! I loved that we got to know Carson & Fred more in Carson’s own story (after readers first met them towards the end of the last book when they moved in). I also loved that Daphne got a story too! I loved getting to know her as Rose’s best friend and how much she supported Rose prior to this book. 💗 Both Carson & Rose were so sweet with each other and I loved seeing them fall for each other! I also loved seeing them navigate Carson’s status as guardian to his nephew. I loved how the Stargazer Springs Ranch people embraced anyone introduced into their group with open arms and that they were willing to help out where they were needed.
I am so excited to see Mason get a story of his own after seeing his hand in so many of the ranch hands’ relationships! I’m also excited to find out what kind of person he grows up to be. 😍
Summary:
Daphne is on her way to her best friend’s costume party when another car causes her to be in an accident. Luckily a knight in a Hawaiian shirt comes to her rescue after seeing the whole thing. And surprisingly, Daphne discovers that the spark people get when they fall in love isn’t make believe but very real. And she feels it for Carson, the man who came to her rescue. At first, Daphne thinks that Carson is not interested in her despite the spark she felt when they first met. But when she discovers that Carson recently became his nephew’s guardian & is trying his best to make a stable life for him, Daphne finds herself falling all the more…
Carson wants to provide a better life for his nephew than the one either of them grew up in so he is thrilled when a position opens up at Stargazer Springs Ranch that includes a place to live on the property and a large family like community amongst the workers on the ranch. Though there are still some learning curves for both Carson and his nephew Fred, things are going well when Carson comes to Daphne’s rescue. And Carson finds that his damsel in distress is someone he’d like to get to know better. Though he doesn’t realize that she feels the same until Daphne tells him point blank. And thankfully she’s willing to take their budding relationship slow while Carson thinks of the best way to introduce her to his nephew hopefully without rocking their new life too much for him…
More Than a Little Spark is the ninth book in the Cowboys of Stargazer Springs Ranch Rom Com series. While previous characters make an appearance throughout the story (and we get a glimpse into everyone's lives years later in the bonus epilogue), I do think this could be enjoyed as a standalone as well.
The Cowboys of Stargazer Springs Ranch is favorite series of mine... Remi Carrington sure knows how to create a swoon worthy cowboy! This one did not disappoint in the slightest. Carson and Daphne are just the absolute sweetest together. Despite the less-than-ideal circumstances of their first meeting (when he carries her to safety after she's been in a car accident), the sparks were flying immediately... but having recently adopted his nephew, he has to take things slowly. I loved seeing that slower progression of their romance throughout the book. I also loved that Carson wasn't your typical MMC, because honestly, not every hero is going to have a six-pack, right? But the way he put his nephew first, even when it meant not getting what he wanted--- what's not to love about that? It only made me root for him to get his happily ever after all that much more. If you love a good cowboy romance, this book (and series) is an absolute must read.
More Than a Little Spark is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.
**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.
“Before this guy, I didn’t know attraction was an actual sensation, a real feeling. I thought it was just a concept. Boy was I wrong.”
This was such a sweet story that will also tug at your heartstrings and their meet cute was definitely interesting.
Daphne got into a car accident on her way to her best friend’s party and a Good Samaritan helped her out of her car. Sparks fly when he touched her but she wonders if it’s just her imagination. Carson is nice and you can just tell he genuinely cares. They started as friends but they can definitely tell there’s more there. They try to take it slow since Carson just got custody of his nephew Fred. But when Carson finally introduced them, Fred doesn’t like Daphne at all. One of the things Daphne liked about Carson is the way he tries his best to be a Dad to Fred. But it seems it’s also the reason they can’t be together unless she convinces Fred that Carson being with her won’t change anything.
Family is so important but there’s nothing better than found family. Daphne, Carson and Fred may have had complicated relationships with their own families but the family they found at Stargazer Springs Ranch is one of a kind. It’s like a warm hug on a cold night being around everyone at the Ranch.
Sweet and heartfelt moments with banter and laughter in this sweet rom com. And I just loved that epilogue! What a great way to end the series!
- Small town romance - Single father - Instant attraction
This series is one of my favorites. The characters aren't the typical ones. They have flaws and different shapes, but their commonality is the ranch that they love and their larger than life hearts. The residents of Stargazer Springs are close knit, so pretty much everyone knows everyone.
Cowboy Carson is on his way to his friend's costume party - dressed as Magnum PI - when he witnesses a terrible car accident. He stops to help and is stunned to find the most beautiful woman he's ever seen - dressed as Daphne from Scooby Doo. She definitely feels sparks toward her rescuer, but he has recently adopted his nephew and isn't looking to get involved. Plus she is way out of his league.
The romance between these two is a super slow burn. Carson is concerned with how his nephew will handle a relationship. Unfortunately, the road to happiness looks like it's been derailed by a preteen..
This book is super sweet, kisses only and features many of the characters we fell in love with throughout the series.
More Than a Little Spark starts with a bang. Or maybe I should say car crash. And a spark of attraction for Daphne and Carson which quickly becomes more. After secretly dating for a bit to take things slow (props to Carson for going slow burn), it turns out that Fred, Carson’s nephew-turned-adopted-son, doesn’t like Daphne and the plot thickens! Carson is such a caring, selfless MMC.
I absolutely loved the witty dialogue Remi brought into this sweet, found family story. I thought the flirtatious banter between Daphne and Carson made them even more likable as a couple and I was rooting for them even harder. Maybe I just have the same sense of humor as Remi, but I thought the banter was refreshing because most “rom com” novels don’t make me laugh like hers do.
I loved Carson’s willingness to put his own hopes and desires aside in order to keep his adopted preteen son his priority. I loved Daphne always being understanding of where Carson was coming from. And I appreciated Carson not being toned and trim. I did feel like the term “spare tire” to describe Carson’s stomach area was used more times than necessary, but that’s just my personal preference.
I have been a fan of the Cowboys of Stargazer Springs Ranch series since I read the first book in the series and More Than a Little Spark did not disappoint. In the end, this book is a great one for any fans of witty banter, closed door (only kisses), and no cursing, easy-read rom coms. 5/5 stars from me.
The meet cute for this one, though dire, was very cute. How else do you make car crash cute than do it in costume? I really enjoyed that although Daphne was a literal damsel in distress to begin with that was not her whole personality, or really, any of it beyond the accident. She had her life (mostly) together and meeting Carson was icing on the cake.
Carson is not to overly-typical male lead—he's got a little extra around the middle—and that was refreshing too. That little bit of uncertainly made him well rounded (ugh sorry lol) but didn't overtake the rest of his personality.
Fred was a nice addition throwing a kink into their relationship the way only a pre-teen boy could.
The last quarter felt a little rushed with all the time jumps that didn't really feel totally necessary . I would have liked to see how the Halloween party went!
but overall, another solid small town romance in the stargazer springs universe!
The second book that got misplaced in the deep clean was the latest in the Cowboys of Stargazer Springs series and I’m so glad found it and got to read it. It’s a sweet story of finding family in more than one way and learning to let love in. A car accident brings Carson and Daphne together and watching them fall for each other was fun. They definitely had things to sort out with their families and pasts but I loved how they took a chance on each other. Their care and support of one another was so lovely to read and made me cheer for their love story. I also really liked how they handled Fred and his fears about their relationship. Definitely recommend you check out this story and series if you enjoy sweet romance with good depth. This one certainly fits the bill.
I received a copy of this story from the author. I am not required by anyone to write a positive review and the opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.
More than a little spark starts out with Daphne getting into a car crash and Carson coming to the rescue. Both immediately feel a spark between them and they start dating in secret due to Carson recently adopting his nephew.
What I love so much about Remi Carringtons books is the wide variety of characters. Not only are the personalities so unique but she adds different body types that aren’t as common in books. Carson the male character is described to have some extra weight to him, however Daphne is still instantly drawn to him, not just for just his looks but also for who he is. Another aspect of the story I really enjoyed is Carson’s son not immediately liking Daphne, yet Carson always put his son first.
This book is full of such heartfelt and cozy moments. The epilogue was also so fantastic! Yay for another wonderful addition to my favorite ranch hands.
I read this after a bad day and it was a relaxing way to spend the evening - the story helped me to relax and unwind. I loved the character of Daphne and her personality was just awesome. I also liked the hero had insecurity about his body and didn't have a six pack of abs. It was really refreshing.
The last in the 'cowboys in stargazer springs' (although I'm thinking the next generation will get their own stories!) can be read as a standalone but the epic epilogue will make better sense if you know what's happened before.
I receive complimentary books for various sources, including Netgalley, Authors, and other such sources. I am not required to write a positive review and have not received compensation.
In More Than a Little Spark, we meet Carson who has adopted his preteen nephew and moved to Stargazer Springs Ranch and Daphne who meets Carson when she is involved in a car accident. When Carson rescues her, she feels sparks which she never thought were real before. Both characters are likeable and discuss things like adults. There are some hard decisions to be made as they both feel Carson's nephew should have first priority. There's a very satisfying HEA for the couple. I enjoy author Remi Carrington's writing style. It flows smoothly. There's a great wrap-up of all of the characters from the Cowboys of Stargazer Springs series. I received a complimentary copy and am sharing my opinion of this entertaining read.
A sweet ending to the series! It started out so fun, with the rescue! Carson was great, with how hard he tried to be a good dad to Fred, and I thought it was cute that he didn't have the "perfect" cowboy body, but Daphne still thought he was very attractive. With their backgrounds, they were a great fit for each other! I did think some things were a little overexplained while they talked to each other, while others needed more elaboration (things in their family/backgrounds). But overall it was fun story, and I loved how Fred brought them back together in the end! I can always count on this author for a sweet, feel-good read.
Content: clean.
I received this book free from the publisher/author. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
More Than a Little Spark by Remi Carrington is a new cozy romance, the latest in her Cowboys of Stargazer Springs Ranch Rom Com series. Daphne and Carson have an unexpected meet-cute (meet-rescue??) in which they both feel a little spark towards each other. However, their journey to a happily-ever-after needs to take the slow road due to Carson adopting his preteen nephew recently and not wanting to jeopardize that new relationship.
I love how this book focuses on the good communication between Daphne and Carson. I like how they don’t assume – they make their feelings and situation known early on so there aren’t surprises. They are both willing to do whatever it takes to help each other navigate their circumstances, and are especially thoughtful of what the other person might be going through.
Sweet Kisses only, mentions of family member with addiction.
All the heart eyes for this sweet rom com featuring Daphne and Carson. They met when Daphne had a car wreck and Carson stopped to rescue her. They began dating secretly since Carson wasn’t ready for the nephew he had adopted to meet Daphne yet. I loved the way Daphne was able to put the nephew’s needs ahead of her own and I admired the way she handled the tough situation when the boy decided he didn’t want Daphne in his life. As always with a Remi Carrington book this story was heartwarming and humorous and fun to read. I truly enjoyed it! I received an ARC from the author. All opinions expressed in this review are totally my own.
A book from Remi Carrington always hits the spot for me. She knows how to write swoony cowboy romances with the most lovable characters and interesting backstories. I loved Daphne’s determination to have what she wants (in the best way possible!) and the way she was able to step into Carson’s life in such a meaningful way. And Carson. What a hero! From his help at the beginning of the book to the way his relationship with Daphne blossoms, I thoroughly enjoyed reading their love story.
My favorite quote: “Carson Blake, you are a bundle of green flags. Good-looking. Strong. Romantic.”
Overall, this is a fantastic sweet romance. The heat level is low (kisses only), I would feel comfortable with my (future) teenager reading this. Thank you to the author for the advance copy of this book. A review is not required.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Thank you Remi, for sending me the ARC of this book. ♥
This one was a bittersweet one as it marks the end of all the the cowboys from Stargazer Springs ranch.
Starts with a car crush and we follow the love story of Carson and Daphne. I enjoyed all the puns about Scooby Doo and just how sweet they were towards each other.
Unfortunately this wasn't my favorite from the series, I had a hard time connecting with this couple but that's mainly just a me problem. Remi definitely continues to be my auto read author and I wanna read everything she writes because the way she creates this family-like world is just amazing! ♥♥♥
Firstly, it is SO refreshing to see a "husky" MMC. I find it a little serendipitous (maybe a little creepy) that I was thinking to myself that I wish I saw more men who looked like my husband in my books, and then this lovely author drops this book in lap. I absolutely LOVED seeing a male lead that was just your "Average Joe". They don't get enough credit. I saw so much of my husband in Carson. Not just physically. My husband has always been the polite, southern country boy who opens my car doors for me. Not only that, but he's got such a silly sense of humor. I really enjoyed seeing his personality on page! The storyline with his son/nephew completely tugged at all my heart strings. I saw it coming but it didn't make my heart hurt any less. Beautiful story, the most relatable characters, and special moments I'm still thinking about days later. Thank you to the author for including me again and allowing me to love on your books. That extended epilogue has me so excited for the next generation!
More friendship & romance on Stargazer Springs Ranch—5 stars I love the author’s way with words. Her characters all seem like they would be fun to know in real life. Daphne doesn’t have much of a filter; she says out loud what she’s thinking. It could get embarrassing, if it didn’t make me laugh. Carson is a great guy who has taken in his nephew and wants to provide a good home for him. He’s torn between his nephew Fred and Daphne. I love that the author writes about real life situations and characters who have some good common sense and are genuinely good people. I received an ARC copy from the author.
Loved this book. It was a nice break after some super intense books. I think it was one of the perfect books to close this series. Written wonderfully, with funny jokes, romance and heartbreak. Of course it ends with a happily ever after, which is the best thing. At the end, there were small snippets of each couple from stargazer springs ranch that gave you a “where are they now” feeling. Then, true Remi style, she ends the book with letting us know there will be one more book in the series. I cannot wait to read about mason and his HEA. Great work Remi!
'Of all the men driving trucks on Texas backroads, this is the one who rescued me. How did I get so lucky?'
Okay so this book takes it time. It's not a slow burn that drags. It's an organic romance novel where the main characters, Carson and Daphne meet, feel a spark and then navigate a relationship. The book takes place over two years and it's really very fun.
So, if you like Stargazer Springs Ranch, single parents, healing from heavy childhoods, sweets, and Scooby-Doo, check this one out. I sincerely love this series and I am just so happy she releasees a new one.
Daphne feels a spark the first time Carson touches her. Their attraction is instantaneous. Carson decides they need to go slow with their relationship. Ugh! Sloths move faster than Carson! It's longer than a year before he proposes, but then, he's anxious to marry her so they can truly be together! Men. I would have been chomping at the bit to get him to propose!!! I love the extended epilogue even if I struggled to remember everyone. Thankfully, I remember enough. :)
A must-read book! I truly loved Carson and Daphne and their journey to a happily-ever-after. The author did a superb job, and the book was so hard to put down. I loved that Daphne was so understanding of Carson’s decisions, whether she liked them or not. Going down memory lane in the bonus epilogue was also a lot of fun and made me want to go back and re-read all of the other books in the series just to refresh my memory! So very good!!
Carson is on his way to a fancy dress party. The car in front is involved in an accident, he stops to help, and meets Daphne, in fancy dress and for real! He's immediately attracted to her but he's got the complication of a nephew, Fred, he's just adopted. Daphne feels the spark but is unsure if it's Carson or being upside down in the car! They go out but secretly, will Fred accept her?
