When five female astronauts were named to pilot the latest interstellar scout ship, the U.S.S. Letanya, it didn’t take long for the wags to dub it the “Lesbianya.” Even in 2075, an all-woman crew was met with snickers and jokes by late-night comedians.
Capt. Kathryn Dyson was out to prove them wrong. When the crew discovered a strange new world with humanoid life long before any male explorers did, it seemed NASA’s shaky faith in the mission would be justified.
Unfortunately, some of the crew got themselves captured and turned into slaves by the huge man-like beings on the planet. Now it’s up to Kate Dyson to rescue her crew or die trying, because she’s not going back without them, despite NASA’s orders. Failure might find her becoming just another sex object on…
"This is a fantastic, sexy tale filled with strong women who know that they want and are not afraid to take it. In the spirit of Johanna Lindsey's 'Warrior's Woman' and Gene Roddenberry's 'Star Trek, ' J.W. McKenna creates a] futuristic world and fills it with action and eroticism." - Amy L. Turpin, Timeless Tales
Um... okay... so it's taken me a while to write this review, but here it is. If it feels a little off, deal with it. I'm running off memory because I'll be honest here, the words for this story wouldn't readily come to me.
To say this was an awesome erotica is pushing it. It was a decent one. Decent writing, though I ran into several issues with it. Decent sex, though it seemed a little... wishful thinking. Seriously, what man wouldn't truly enjoy having his wife at his every whim? Chain her up and fuck her in the streets? I know some women who'd admire that treatment, but it gets old real fast.
Another decent thing is the story. Or rather, it's mediocre one, that is. I do appreciate the light sci-fi reading; it's basically a science-fiction novel for the people who don't really like science-fiction novels. It's not bad. There could have been WAY more elaboration done on the science parts. The author basically left it as easy as possible.
I also feel as if the characters hit their arc WAY too soon. The men seemed to have changed their carved-into-stone ways WAY too suddenly. The women fell in love WAAAAYYYY too quickly for being born in and raised in Women-Equal-To-Men era of Earth (can anyone say Stockholm syndrome???). Their ability to "change the culture" happened WAY to fast. Like I said, wishful thinking all around.
It had potential... perhaps potential more like a young buck just learning his non-virgin-esque ways in a world of slutty women. Potential like that. It had more to offer, if only it'd grown up.
Still... I've read MUCH worse than this, and that is why it still earns 3 stars. At least it was structured well.
Slave Planet was one entertaining story! I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this book. My expectations were admittedly low, partially because my past experiences reading alien, space-creature, love/sex stories have not done much for this earth girl. Putting it bluntly...my panties are not dampened by an octopus looking space creature who is all hands, I mean tentacles. However, the guy creatures in this book were like large humans that were anatomically correct under their loin cloths. That made all the difference to this shallow reader. Smile. Let’s just say that these aliens can park their space ships in my garage any time they want. (Pun intended.)
The world building was fantastic. I really felt like I was watching things unfold rather than just reading words on the page. Know going into this book that it is a sci-fi/fantasy story first and a sexy (alone time book) second. Just a hoot to read.
You know those old 70's movies where everyone on the planet were barbarians and women were slavegirls and men would just toss them down and boink them? Yeah, this book was kind of like that. As old skool male-centric barbarian planet fantasy, it did pretty well (and was campy and enjoyable). As erotica, well...it kinda failed. I did like the author's writing, though? But it was pretty obviously a dude writing this.
The space parts were best. I was kind of hoping for more DINOSAUR PLANET and got more PLANET OF THE APES PLUS BONUS SLAVEGIRL ACTION. But, yanno, given the title and the cover, I can't say it didn't deliver what it promised.
This story makes me think of caveman style sex between modern day women and 15th century men. A crew of five women fly a spaceship exploring new planets. They discover the planet Devon which has humanoids similar to earth humans. The men are larger and hairier. The women on the planet are bought and sold as slaves with leashes and slave collars around their necks. The women are always naked, and their masters frequently have sex with them in public. Four of the earth women are captured by the humanoids and sold as slaves to other humanoids. The fifth earth woman still on the spaceship must decide between following earth orders to leave her crew on the planet or trying to rescue them herself.
Sexual language: strong. Number of sex scenes: eight. Setting: 2075 the planet Devon. Copyright: 2002. Genre: erotic science fiction romance.

The title you would think it would be dark sometimes it was, but it was also understanding a different culture and language and using the knowledge they have to their advantage. I enjoyed reading this book and would love to read what else the author comes upon with.
I thought this book started off well and the planetary exploration and focus on the mission was quite well done. The rest of it was bullshit. These men should've been killed and the 2 women staying back and liking it? BULLSHIT.

This was my first and only foray into erotica. However I found the "science," in the science fiction, along with the events leading up to the crew being stranded to be so hokey, I couldn't enjoy the erotic parts.
