Man For Hire

Rate this book
HE WAS A DESERT CHIEFTAN
but he looked to the West for his women. Khalid Rajhi had risen above his primitive upbringing to become a man of the world, irresistible to women.

Alyx came to him with a proposition that was also a plea. Her daughter had been kidnapped, and she needed to hire a man who could be as one with the night, who could blend into the Paris social scene or the fierce life of the Bedouin warriors, a man who could not resist the love in her woman's heart.

Alyx was a woman like no other, and what she asked, Khalid could not deny.

I am dancing on sunshine that you are visiting my little part of Parris's paradise here on Goodreads.

I write for the reckless at heart Not surprisingly, I identify with my novels' characters, both the protagonists AND antagonists. I suffer with their angsts and bewilderments and rejoice in their joys and triumphs.

And I believe that if we heroically hold fast to our own vision for ourselves in our journey’s confrontations and challenges, Life WILL surely manifest our dreams and goals and visions, as it does for my characters in my novels.

Fulfilling romantic adventure

Not a boring moment in this wonderfully written story. The heroine being a West Virginia native and a spunky coal miner's daughter really spoke to my heart...being from West Virginia myself. Who doesn't fantasize about taming the heart of an unattainable assertive male.?

I first read this one back in the early1990s and it made enough of an impression on me that I decided to reread it for the escapism value now. Unfortunately, it didn't hold my attention and I didn't really buy the happily ever after ending. For one thing, after all that, what's supposed to happen to her daughter? She'd not exactly going to have the "normal" life her mother wanted for her.

Nothing less than five stars

God! What can I say? Bonds has incredible talent as an author. This second book of the Midsummer Madness series is even better than the first book. I am intrigued now by the desert and infatuated with the main male character in this book, the Arabian prince!
Again, contemporary setting and political mayhem where a romance is planted and grows between two very unlikely people. And the adventure never stops! The writing kept my rapt attention as it influenced my way of thinking.
Bonds sneaks up on you with her intense plot and the uncanny ability to keep you enthralled. I could not put this one down for more than ten minutes at a time, almost reading through the night. My respect for this author's writing has inflated as she has been the one writer able to get me to crossover genres from the historical romance novel, which I favor, to the contemporary romance novel which I have, until now, snubbed as a prolific reader.
Needless to say, I am immediately on to the third book of this series. I very highly recommend this book, and it can be read as a standalone novel, but urge the reader to read the series. High praise for Bonds!
