Beautiful illustrations and I love the concept, but it could have been so much more, compared to other Solve It Yourself books I’ve done. However this is an awesome collectors book for any fan of Agatha Christie.
"I've always been a fan of "hidden pictures" or "solve-it-yourself" books, and I loved the idea of this particular book -- find significant characters and clues from some famous Agatha Christie mystery novels. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed in the final product. The art ranges from quite good to quite bad, from one page to another. Very few "false clues" are shown in the artwork, which means the vast majority of what you see checks off one of the list of what you're looking for. I will say, the two-page novel spreads that show the characters somewhat larger are much better than the "wide shots", with much smaller characters -- the more chance the artist had to provide greater detail, the better the art was. And I did like the detailed character descriptions offered in the middle section of this book.
But, ultimately, I was hoping for much more than I actually god with this book."
