From the creators behind the viral Instagram and Tiktok account @meetcutesnyc comes an inspiring and heartwarming collection of 75 couples and the stories of how they first met
In 2023, three friends—Jeremy Bernstein, Aaron Feinberg, and Victor Lee—took to the streets of New York City to ask couples how they met and what the secret sauce is to staying together. Today, they have more than 4 million followers on Instagram and Tik-Tok, and more than 300 million views, on Tik-Tok, captivating audiences around the world.
For the first time in print, Meet Cutes NYC is a collection of 75 stories—a mix of new and fan favorites—alongside beautiful portraits of the couples, photographed exclusively for the book. Each interview opens the same way, “Excuse me, are you two a couple?” Followed by, “Can you tell us the story of how you met?” But the stories are each unique—like Chris and Clay, who met while auditioning for West Side Story (they both got it). And Joe and Liza met in a hardware store—while Liza was with her boyfriend at the time. There are stories of couples who met on public transportation, at a party, through friends, at work, at church—you truly never know where you might find love. There are also stories of second chances—like Mike and Karen—who met in college, broke up, and then bumped into each other again two years later, walking toward each other Third Avenue; they fell into a kiss and have been married for 37 years.
Beyond how they met, couples share their partner’s favorite traits, what they love to do together, and how they make their relationships work. Meet Cutes NYC is a celebration of modern-day love connections—across all ages, genders, and backgrounds. From couples who just met to those who have been together for decades. The book is a refreshing dose of real love stories, from real people. It will appeal to anyone in love or looking for love, to glean advice and inspiration from.
Thanks so much to NetGalley for the free Kindle book. My review is voluntarily given, and my opinions are my own.
This book is filled with wonderful stories about how couples in NYC met and fell in love. I think it's important to document the lives of everyone, not just people who are famous. I really hope everyone who is included in this book, as well as their family members, are aware of this book and are able to purchase it. Even though I'm not related to any of the people in the book, it still was very interesting.
I've been following Meet Cutes NYC for years now. It is one of my favourite pages because nowadays it is easier to see the worst in people, how hatred and fear act. With Meet Cutes, you get to see for a few minutes the other side; how happiness and love can also be found in this society.
When I first saw the eArc in Netgalley, I went to request it right away, but I am not sure what I was expecting, and I am positively surprised. It is a little view behind the camera and there are some pointers that could be really useful to work face-to-face with customers or a public. And then you get to remember some of the stories we may have to see on their videos. My favourite part are the pictures, how they look at each other, their smiles, and that you can sense their connection in the conversations. I felt like crying for the whole book, so fragile and innocent, so beautiful to read and feel.
I don't know what to say... This book is about love, real and pure love, and it is seen and transmitted without judgement. Accounts and books like this make you believe a little bit more in the future. They are really important in changing the mindset to a more positive one.
Thank you, Artisan Books and Netgalley, for allowing me to read this eArc in exchange for an honest opinion. And to Aaron Feinberg, Victor Lee, and Jeremy Bernstein not only for the book but for giving us the possibility to see a better world for a few minutes every day.
I received an early release of this book through netgalley, but am not paid for my review.
4.75/5 Stars
This is a super cute book that I would consider a coffee table read. Something that you aren't going to sit down and read start to finish in one go, but instead read sections over weeks or months while visiting a friend's house. It was super cute! I just felt such a warmth reading the little stories from the interviews in this book. I originally gave this 5 stars, but after sitting with it overnight, I wish the authors broke up the questions a bit more. The main prompts asked were how did you meet, what is your favorite thing about the other, and what are you excited for in the future. I think this book would have had less repetition if the authors showed some of the other questions asked, or just dove a little deeper into the convos (which I know they do from their online content). Overall, a lovely read, I would be very happy to receive this book as a home decor gift!
This glossy coffee table book shares content from the Meet Cutes NYC social media page, along with some new content. This involves street photography of diverse couples, along with short interviews where the couple shares about things like how they met, what they like most about each other, and what they think the secret to a good relationship is. Some of the interviews are very brief, with simple answers, and others feature longer stories and explanations. The book starts feeling repetitive after a while. It will mainly appeal to big fans of the social media account, the people featured in the book, and their family and friends.
I received a free copy from the publisher through Amazon Vine, and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I've been follow Meet Cute NYC on both TikTok and Instagram for a while and it is one of my favorite feel good account. When I saw they have book coming out, I knew I needed to have my hands on it!
Cute interviews for couples featured on Meet Cute NYC accounts- I don't know how they managed to narrow it down because I personally never skip an interview video from how cute and heartfelt they usually are. The photos are beautiful which make this book the perfect for either a birthday or a house warming gift for every hopeless romantic. I couldn't help myself by reading "Excuse me, are you two a couple?" by the same video voice! I also liked the "research findings" in the book about where people meet etc based on their field work on the street of NYC interviews- it gave it a nice touch and something extra we don't get on to see on their socials account.
Thank you NetGalley & Artisan Books for this opportunity!
Meet Cute NYC will be available on October 14th, 2025
This is based on a famous instagram account which interviews and documents the love stories of real couples from NYC. This is a collection of 75 such stories that capture a wide spectrum of romance and togetherness from different walks of life, across ages, races, genders, etc. It was inspiring to read about the diverse ways in which people fall in love, and continue to celebrate their love with each other. As a writer, it also gave me so many plot ideas. ;-) The photographs accompanying each story were beautifully representative of the celebration of love.
This book was soooo cute!!!! It was very well presented with questions answered by the subjects. It was nice reading how they met and what they value in their mate as well as other things. Very refreshing read. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the arc of this book. Receiving the book in this manner had no bearing on my thoughts.
a cute book that made me kinda sad about all the people i will never ever know. my nosy ass loved reading all these funny/cute transient moments in people's lives that tell you a little bit of what they hold dear. kind of like reading missed connections (not that i've ever read one)- you can't help but root for the people in them. thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.
More of a coffee table/shelf book but I read it cover to cover! I mean truly this book has everything, so heartwarming. It’s like a collection of 100 mini love stories.
Song: lol I couldn’t stop singing Nice To Meet Ya by Niall in my head.
truly enjoyed the concept of this book and there were quite a few lovely stories within! i just wish there was a bit more queer relationship representation 🤍 i did appreciate the ones that were added, however!
