OUR STORY A beat-up old car, a few dollars in the pocket and a sense of adventure. In 1972 that’s all Tony and Maureen Wheeler needed for the trip of a lifetime – across Europe and Asia overland to Australia. It took several months, and at the end – broke but inspired – they sat at their kitchen table writing and stapling together their first travel guide, Across Asia on the Cheap. Within a week they’d sold 1500 copies and Lonely Planet was born. One hundred million guidebooks later, Lonely Planet is the world’s leading travel guide publisher with content to almost every destination on the planet.
Some nice photos, but come on, this is just a book showing pictures of shitters... of course, everyone knows where this volume should be placed in your home.
A entertaining and fun little pictorial on toilets of the world.
There is a short historical timeline of the toilet and a number of little quips on the story of various loos such as repurposed toilets and famous toilets. Lots of play on words in the descriptions and amusing witty puns. Great photos all bound into a nice small hardback volume.
"Toilets of the World" by Lonely Planet is what it indicates - a fun little book on loos.
Thank you to Penguin Random House for a reading copy.
This book does exactly what it sets out to do: provide beautiful photos of interesting toilets with extensive puns about pooping. There are small sections on history and superlatives as well.
