Jaqueline Snowe lives in Arizona where the "dry heat" really isn't that bad. She prefers drinking coffee all hours of the day and snacking on anything that has peanut butter or chocolate. She is the mother to two dogs who don’t realize they aren’t humans and a = mom to the sweetest boy. She is an avid reader and writer of romances and tends to write about athletes. Her husband works for an MLB team (not a player, lol) so she knows more about baseball than any human ever should.

One Liner: Hallmark-y second chance Christmas romance

Laney Reynolds moves to Cherrywood Creek, the small town she grew up in, to heal her broken heart. It feels good to move away from the city and her CEO husband, who has no time for her.

Connor realized he had let it go too far when his wife, Laney, left him. Intent on winning her back, he follows her to the small town where Christmas festivities are in full swing. However, it would take a lot more than hot chocolate dates to prove that they were meant to be.

The story comes in first-person POVs of Laney and Connor.

My Thoughts:

This is my second book by the author. The previous one was Christmas Sweater Weather, another Christmas romance from last year. In a way, this book was better written, despite the repetitions.

This is one of the many recent second-chance romances I’ve read. It’s been a season of reading about hope and the art of writing this trope to make readers root for the characters.

The small town setting and the festive vibe are the highlights. If you have a thing for either or both, you will enjoy the scenes with decorations, community celebrations, gingerbread-making events, etc. The book also touches upon the difficulties of generating consistent income as a small-town business and balancing between tourism and keeping the community vibe intact. Not a lot, but it is enough to add depth to the setting instead of limiting the small town to a cozy backdrop.

The core of the book is romance – fighting for a second chance for a couple madly in love. One thing I like is that there’s no doubt about their feelings for each other. It shows that ‘being in love’ is not enough for a healthy marriage. It needs people who prioritize the relationship as well as communicate their feelings.

The book starts with the FMC in her hometown after walking out on her marriage. Pretty soon, the MMC arrives asking for a second chance. So far, good. However, we don’t see the past at any point. Sure, we are told a lot of things as inner monologues and dialogues. But we see none of it. And that is where the problem lies.

What we actually see is an MMC trying really hard to save his marriage and an FMC who does not/ cannot communicate until she is forced to. It’s like she stayed silent and let the resentment build up until she couldn’t handle it any longer. Realistic, yes, absolutely! But it would have worked even better if we saw this too.

Instead of the repeated conversations, we should have been given a few direct chapters from the past. There’s nine years’ worth of marriage to show the reader. It’s only fair that we get at least five to seven events showing the shift from a happy, blissful marriage to a strained one with misplaced priorities. It would also have shown the MMC growth, because right now, he appears a bit too perfect in doing everything he can to win the FMC back.

The good part is that the characters make a more than decent effort to communicate. Here, too, it’s the MMC urging the FMC to talk and share her feelings. He does prove himself to be more mature than she!

The side characters are interesting, and I wouldn’t mind if they had books of their own, though it doesn't seem likely. Who knows! Maybe someday?

Anyway, the angst is pretty low on the scale, and the spice is moderate to high. Some of it can be a bit too cheesy, but the genre calls for it. There’s an epilogue too, a rather detailed one, which is the kind I always enjoy.

To summarize, Date Night in December is a cozy story of second chances, learning to communicate, and putting your marriage first. It is about life’s priorities and the warmth of being a part of a small-town community.

Thank you, NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing), for the eARC. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.

Date Night in December by Jaqueline Snowe
Contemporary romance.
Laney Reynolds returns home to Cherrywood Creek anticipating the end of her marriage. Her husband Connor has ridden the corporate ladder to success at the cost of their time together. They no longer do lunches together. He’s often working long hours and he even forgot their last anniversary. Laney is ready to give up and returns to her family home for comfort.
Connor gets a wake up call when Laney leaves him. Divorce is not what he wants and he’s going to be a better husband and friend going forward. If she’ll give him a chance.

🎧 I alternated between an ebook and an audiobook. The narration is performed by Monique Makena and Max Rauch who both do a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life. Each do their own chapter POV’s and have two distinctive voices for Laney and Connor. The narrators naturally perform at different baritone levels which had me adjusting the volume a couple of times as I got used to it. Their emotions and feelings were clearly heard, not only the main couple, but also in secondary characters such as in Connor’s assistant.
I did listen at 1.5 and slightly higher to be able to read along with the ebook.

A heartwarming second chance holiday romance. The reader knows exactly how Connor feels and he is committed to making this second chance work. He’s a strong and hopeful hero.

I received a copy of the from NetGalley and Hachette Audio.

A cute, marriage-in-crisis romance set in a small town at Christmas? This had the bones to be a really great story. It was fun and had some fun Hallmark movie vibes with low angst

I think what didn't quite work for me was that the book starts after Laney has left Connor. So we don't see what their marriage was actually like- we're only told about it. We hear Laney's complaints about Connor's working too much an dhow lonely she was, but we as the reader never experience it. Also Connor from the start is trying to change and be better in an effort to win Laney back, so it's hard to think of him as this terrible husband.

And it seems like she never actually spoke to Connor about it? She just let it go every time and expected him to read her mind I guess. It seemed like Laney was also putting Connor's job first? Like she continually kept things to herself in an effort not to bother him or upset him before important meetings, so that's on her, not him. Even by the end after they've talked about how important communication is.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishing team for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

1.5/5 Stars | A Crime against Christmas Romance 🎄😬💔

I am so sorry in advance I should have DNFed but I couldn't look away from this, hence the extra 0.5 star.

What I liked: Not much, my friends. The idea behind this book? Solid! A festive small town, a cozy setting, a premise that could have delivered emotional depth? All promising. But execution matters and this one just didn’t give me the pieces I personally need to love a story. It was, however, very difficult to put down so it has that going for it!

What I didn’t like: Buckle in, boys. We’re going for a sleigh ride.

First of all, the FMC leaves her husband with… a note. A NOTE. Informing him she’s divorcing him. Without ever having a conversation. This immediately sent me into orbit and I proceeded to read this angrily. You're telling me a grown woman is upset that her husband talks to his coworkers about work—WORK—and that’s her reason for peacing out of the marriage?? Be. So. For. Real. Right. Now. Then we get to the MMC: a CEO of a tech start-up whose entire personality is “I protec my wife” and “I am doing Business™.” Friends, I read this and felt exactly how hockey fans must feel reading hockey romances. Every business detail made my soul leave my body and hover above the page in dismay. Now…the dialogue. The writing. The SENTENCES. COOKIE DOUGH WAS REFERRED TO AS BATTER? In closing, I give you two quotes. One will haunt me for the rest of my days as some of the cringiest dirty talk in existence, and the other is a fun glimpse at how the sentences in this book were structured:

“You are my wife. You come for me with my business plan all around us.”
This sentence is a crime against eyeballs.

“The knot in my chest loosened the final knot.”
Yo… What?

Thank you Forever for the copy of this novel—I am so sorry I didn't love it :|

This was such an adorable holiday romance! Sure, it was predictable and not a lot happens but that’s exactly the point… it's a cute, cozy, feel-good story that delivers small-town charm and cookies. Also no third act breakup!!

DNFed at 52% - I cannot tell you if or when I’ve ever DNFed a book. I always push through to the end. But, after rolling my eyes, saying boo tomato tomato, and visibly icking around 100 times, I was done. The HEAVY use of pet names is appalling. The author’s use of dialogue is juvenile (you shouldn’t have to continue to use names and pet names: we can follow back and forth dialogue). The main female character is weak, dumb, and picky. Your husband is a CEO; of course he’s going to be busy! But don’t worry, I’ll take him back within days. Oh and you’ve been throwing up for weeks but haven’t put the pieces together? 🤦🏼‍♀️ I just can’t. Again, I NEVER DNF books, but this one has nothing going for it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I listened to this audiobook in one day, it was so cute! Super cozy small-town vibes, lots of communication between the characters (which I always love in a romance), and the holiday setting made it feel extra warm and comforting. Laney and Connor’s journey felt sweet and believable, and the story really leaned into second chances in a way that gave me all the cozy feels.

Definitely could see this becoming one of my next comfort reads. Perfect for curling up with during the holidays (or anytime you want that festive, heartwarming vibe).

Listening speed: 1.75x
Narrators: Monique Makena & Max Rauch
Feedback: The dual narration was amazing and really helped me dive into the story, both narrators were perfect for their characters and made the whole experience even more immersive!

Thank you Read Forever for my copy! All thoughts are my own.

I was really excited to read this book, as I am always intrigued to see how author's tackle the "marriage in crisis" trope. Plus, I love a festive holiday romance. This book started really strong for me and I couldn't put it down. I wasn't expecting the twist and it sadly didn't work for me. I feel like it didn't need to happen in order for the two to really know they wanted to be together.

“‘Tis the season for second chances in this charming and delightful festive romcom—perfect for fans of Maggie Knox and Jenny Bayliss.” That’s the marketing blurb that first caught my eye, and combined with the charming cover art, it’s what convinced me to request the audiobook.

But here’s where the wires got crossed—it’s not actually a romcom. It’s classified as Women’s Fiction, Romance, and General Fiction (Adult), which I completely missed when I clicked request. That turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Women’s fiction isn’t typically a genre I reach for unless it comes highly recommended by trusted book friends, but I’m glad I stumbled into this one because I ended up really loving it. And let me be clear: it’s definitely not a romcom.

The book is beautifully written. I loved the dual POV and dual timeline format, which made the relationship feel layered and immersive. Dropping straight into the story after Laney has already left Connor and filed for divorce was such an effective choice—it put the focus on Connor as he reevaluates his life and priorities in order to fight for his marriage.

Another thing I appreciated was how the “other woman” storyline was handled. It could have so easily gone down the well-worn cheating-trope path, but instead it felt realistic, nuanced, and ultimately respectful of the characters and their journey.

The audiobook narration is handled by Monique Makena and Max Rauch, and overall they did a solid job. I’ll admit it took me a little while to adjust—Rauch’s take on Laney came across a bit breathy and almost comical at times, while Makena’s Connor didn’t always land either. But once I bumped the speed up to 2x, the performances clicked better and the pacing felt smoother.

I ended up finishing the book in a single sitting. At 2x speed it ran just over four hours, and I was completely absorbed the whole time. The story reminded me a little of The Vow—not in plot, but in the way it explores love, choices, and the work it takes to turn a relationship around. Honestly, I think this would be a great book for couples going through a rough patch. Reading it together might spark some reflection, and maybe even make a difference.

A heartfelt, thoughtful story about second chances and the hard, hopeful work of love—this one surprised me in all the best ways.

I fortunate to receive a complimentary ALC from Hachette Audio via NetGalley, which gave me the opportunity to share my voluntary thoughts.

How I Rate
Because I mostly read ARCs, I focus on how I think fellow readers with similar tastes will respond. I sometimes round up or down based on pacing, prose, or overall impact, and I try to keep my personal preferences from weighing too heavily.

⭐️ 1 Star – Finished, but not for me; I never DNF ARCs.
⭐️⭐️ 2 Stars – Struggled due to writing, content, or editing issues.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 Stars – Decent read with untapped potential; recommend with some reservations.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 Stars – Really enjoyed it and would recommend for several reasons.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars – Exceptional; lingers in my mind well after reading. A story I’d gladly revisit.

Date Night in December is my 2nd holiday romance by this author, and I really loved it!

Laney and Connor have been married for 9 years, but Laney has left Connor after being extremely unhappy in their marriage and has returned to her hometown of Cherrywood to heal from her heartbreak. However, Connor isn't giving up on Laney and his marriage without a fight and has rented the house right next door to her parent's house in order to try and win her back.

This is a marriage in crisis/second chance holiday romance. This is my first time reading a "marriage in crisis" romance, and I really enjoyed it. This book was actually very, very sweet, and I loved that it was set during the holidays.

Connor is the absolute sweetest, and I would definitely describe him as a cinnamon roll, but with a filthy mouth. I love that he isn't giving up on his marriage, and his love for Laney shows in everything that he does. Connor proposes that Laney "date" him for the next 30 days and prove to her that their marriage deserves a second chance. He plans the sweetest dates and has the magic of the holidays to help persuade Laney not to give up on them.

Laney is a photographer, and while she's back in her hometown, she works her magic and photographs the town's holiday festival. She realizes that she doesn't just miss her parents and her hometown but finds that she's actually happy there and wants to move back. Cherrywood works its magic and shows her that that's where she knows she wants to be.

This book has a bit of everything, Christmas cheer, emotional growth, increased communication, and lots of spice. I not only loved the main characters but enjoyed the side characters and what they brought to the story.

If you're a lover of holiday romance, this book is fantastic and definitely one to add to your holiday season reading!

This book was published on October 14th, 2025, and is available to read immediately!

Thank you to NetGalley, Forever, and the author for the opportunity to read this ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Date Night in December brings all the feels in this marriage in crisis/second chance holiday romance.

I received an early copy from Forever Publishing via NetGalley. All opinions are my own and given freely.

Laney has gone back to her hometown to heal the heartbreak of leaving her husband, who has little time for anything but work. But Connor is not giving her up without a fight. And if that means making changes and also traveling to her hometown to win her back, then that's just what he'll do.

This story was really sweet. Laney is feeling lost, unsure where to go from here. Connor is a cinnamon roll with a dirty mouth. Determined to win her back, he plans dates that are truly swoon worthy. And they end up helping break down their walls, allowing them to finally communicate effectively.

There's growth, emotion, steam and even humor. The addition of great side characters in her parents alone bring some great fun. Set in the month of December, you'll also find snippets of holiday activities- though this didn't have the festive holiday spirit I hoped for.

I personally love a marriage in crisis story, but enjoy when it's full of angst, grovel and depth. This one was more gentle and easy. Surface level. Overall, it was likeable, but too on the sweet side for my personal reading preference. But what isn't for me, might be perfect for you, so do check it out for yourself!

This one missed the mark for me despite it being a second chance romance (my favorite sub-genre). I think it's maybe too close to my recent divorce for me to enjoy this type of novel because I found myself angry at the characters often, hurt by their actions and just cringing in second hand embarrassment as well. Again this is a personal preference and not an issue with the story which is why I'm choosing not to provide a star rating

Laney and Connor Reynolds were perfect for one another and madly in love when they married. As time went on and Connor was busy proving himself to his father in the corporate world, they gradually grew apart. It's nine years later and Laney felt like she was living alone and eventually told Connor she wanted a divorce. She still loved him, but was broken hearted that he loved everything else in his life more than her. She headed home to Cherrywood Creek to heal. Working as a photographer, she had no problem getting work and beginning her new life. Connor was blindsided. He didn't notice that their marriage was stagnant and how unhappy Laney was, but he wants her back. He vows to do whatever he needs to do to prove to her that she is his life. He asks Laney to give him a month, just December to prove how much he loves her. One month to date and get to know each other again and she agrees. Giving up the bustling city, he rents a house in Cherrywood, next to her parents, and vows to sweep Laney off her feet. What they discover is that both of them need to share their feelings, make the other a priority, and make huge decisions as to what they want their life to look like. Can one month of dating bring this couple back together?

I do enjoy a good second chance romance, and this one was a delight. I can't remember remember a book where the couple are married and trying to save their marriage in this way. When the book started, Laney and Connor were that cute couple that made everyone say awww. When we next meet them, Laney has left and is living back in her hometown and meets up with her ex from high school. There is nothing between them, but Connor is a bit jealous. I really liked Laney, and wanted her life to be the one she desired, but did that really include Connor? Connor was a nice guy, he didn't cheat on her or treat her badly, unless you count working all the time and not spending time with his wife. He PA, Petra had a lot to do with their problems. She was a workaholic and expected Connor to to the same. She began to cancel his lunches and time with Laney so he could be at work. She wasn't vindictive, just had a one track mind, especially as her marriage was over. This is a book about life. The issues were realistic and relatable. With holiday activities to attend, Christmas customs and events to share, love is rekindled and just maybe, Christmas Magic can help this couple find their way back to one another.

Date Night in December by Jaqueline Snowe is a second chance holiday romance that follows Laney and Connor’s story as they navigate their marriage on the brink of divorce. Laney no longer wanting to be an afterthought in her workaholic husband’s mind makes the decision to divorce Connor and return to her parents’ home in Cherrywood Creek despite her love for him. Connor unable to live without Laney follows her to Cherrywood putting his job as CEO to the side during a critical time in the company. After talking about their relationship, Laney and Connor decide to date for the month of December as a way to save their marriage, but will it be enough?

Overall, I enjoyed reading the first part of the book and loved the small town vibes. I had found Laney to be serious and stand on business after she left Connor in the first few chapters. However, I felt like she was weak when it came to Connor and her sexual desire. Sometimes it seemed she put more emphasis on sex than actually having a serious discussion with her husband. Connor, on the other hand, was quite insecure but it was obvious he was trying to put the work into fixing their marriage. I appreciated that in some instance Connor took a step back and steered Laney away from sex and towards focusing on their relationship. Honestly, I think the book could have been done without the big reveal, especially since they were on the brink of a divorce. And despite understanding Laney’s decision to keep it secret, Connor deserved to know. I also enjoyed the appearance of Laney’s parents and how supportive they were, and would like to read more about the relationship that was kindling between two other characters.

The audiobook had two narrators for both points of view, which I enjoyed. I was able to feel the characters’ emotions through the narrators’ voices and liked the way they brought them to life because it fit with the character descriptions. However, I did find the audiobook to be a bit slow for me, so I did listen to it at 1.5x speed.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the audiobook arc.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3.75 rounded up)

Second-chance romance is one of my favorite tropes when it’s done well, and *Date Night in December* was *almost* there for me. The premise was cute and festive, and Jacqueline Snowe always delivers an enjoyable holiday vibe.

Connor clearly would do anything for Lahey — except slow down. All she really wanted was time, emotional presence, and genuine care, and I wish that had been explored a bit more deeply. The romance felt a little too quick of a burn for my taste, which kept it from fully landing.

That said, it was still a fun, cozy read and another solid holiday romance from this author. Not perfect, but definitely enjoyable if you’re in the mood for something sweet and seasonal. 🎄✨

Quick Summary: A second chance at marriage romance

My Review: Date Night in December by Jaqueline Snowe is 2025 contemporary romance. It is scheduled for release on 10/14/25.

About the Book: "'Tis the season for second chances in this charming and delightful festive rom com..."

In My Own Words: Laney and Connor Reynolds had a happy marriage...until they didn't. Everything finally comes to a head when an anniversary is forgotten. Is it too late to make things right?

Questions to Consider:

- How do you heal from a broken heart?
- Is there ever any hope of healing an imperfect marriage?
- Can an honest love be the balm for the hurts and wrongs that exists between two people who love each other?

My Final Say: This was a sweet story. Ultimately, it was a story about love and about honoring the sacred connection that exists between a man and his wife. It was nice to see how Laney and Connor reconnected with themselves as individuals and with each other as partners.

I adored the date nights in December concept. It really worked for the love story between the leads. Also, the small town vs city storyline added depth. The close-knit community vibe gets all the gold stars.

What I want to know - Will Matt and Petra get their own romance?

While this story does have a Hallmark-esque quality, I confess that it also has a punch of spice that is pretty potent.

Other: Readers who enjoy stories about working through marital issues, stories about a second chance at love, stories about falling in love all over again & rekindling the flame of true love, and stories about choosing happiness should like this novel. It is realistic fiction with heart.

Rating: 3.5/5
Recommend: Yes
Audience: A
Re-read: Yes
Status/Level: ⭐⭐⭐.5
Note: This would do well as an audiobook.

Laney is tired of always coming second to her husband, Connor’s high-profile job and decides she’s had enough. When she leaves him and returns to her hometown, he follows, determined not to lose her. He proposes a deal: he’ll spend the month of December trying to win her back, and if she hasn’t fallen in love with him again by the New Year, he’ll sign the divorce papers without a fight.

The premise sounded really interesting, but unfortunately, the execution fell a bit flat for me. Most of the backstory about their marriage struggles comes through recollection rather than lived moments, which made it hard to fully connect with their emotional journey. Once the story begins, Connor seems genuinely remorseful and eager to make amends — to the point where it almost feels unrealistic and frustrating that Laney wouldn’t be more open to reconciliation. Once they make their deal, there really wasn’t much conflict or any issues that were too difficult to resolve, leaving me wanting more angst...

The dialogue occasionally veered into forced or overly cheesy territory, but the writing overall was solid and the pacing consistent. I did appreciate the cozy small-town Christmas atmosphere, which gave the story a warm, Hallmark-movie feel.

Readers looking for a sweet and swoony, small town, marriage in crisis romance may enjoy Date Night in December more than I did.

Thank you to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

3.5 ⭐️ This was so sweet it’ll make your teeth hurt… in a good way 😋 Good thing I’ve always had a sweet tooth!

In this marriage-in-crisis romance, Laney Reynolds is tired of being an afterthought to her husband and his high-profile job and decides she’s had enough. She leaves him and returns to her small hometown of Cherrywood Creek for Christmas with her parents to reconnect with her roots and heal her heart. Somewhere in their ten years of marriage, Connor lost sight of his priorities and Laney walking away was the wake-up call he needed to follow her and fight for his marriage and their future together. When Connor rents the house next door to her parents, he proposes/begs that Laney agree to date him throughout the month of December before officially deciding whether to divorce him. Will Connor be able to follow-through on putting his wife before his work? Will Laney’s festive hometown and its tight-knit community work their Hallmarky magic for this couple-in-crisis?

Spoilers coming in hot…
I loved that there was never any doubt of this couple’s feelings for one another. Although we start with Laney having walked out on him, Connor is soon in her small hometown, putting work on the back burner, and fully committing to earn back her trust and love. It is made super clear throughout this cozy, feel-good romance that while love is - of course - the foundation for a successful marriage, both partners need to prioritize the relationship and communicate their feelings honestly and compassionately. The angst is so low because we only see Connor being a fabulous husband doing *the absolute most* to win back his wife. It’s really hard to dislike him when he is being so devoted - sometimes cringingly so.

I didn’t expect Connor to be the more mature of the two, but color me shocked! It is Laney who needed near constant reminders to share her true feelings and be honest about things that have hurt her. After living out the lyrics to Taylor Swift’s Tolerate It for so long, it’s understandable! I thought Connor did a great job of not only proving his dedication to his marriage, but in making sure they don’t fall back into old patterns. He doesn’t just talk the talk, he walks the walk! 👏🏼

I was verrrrrry glad there was not a love triangle with Matt, Laney’s hometown high school sweetheart, OR with Petra, Connor’s secretary. The Petra/Matt connection is one I would love to read more about, though. Petra even jokes that she feels like she is stuck in a Hallmark movie and I’m already seated for it!

I think this book could’ve been a little stronger with some flashback chapters that let us into the darker days of their marriage. I said that this story was so sweet it’ll make your teeth hurt and being able to see bits and pieces of their nearly ten years together would’ve given us better context for the current separation and emotional connection to their heartaches. We get snippets from their conversations and inner monologues, but limiting the exploration of their past also limits the MMC’s growth. Connor is a little too perfect with how hard he is working on winning back her heart now and seeing the shift in from happy newlyweds to stressed, strained strangers would’ve given a more complete and well-balanced picture.

✌🏻 Second Chance Romance
💍 Dating Your Husband
🎄 Holiday Read
🏘️ Small Town
📚 Local AZ Author

“To anyone who’s ever felt adrift - this is your reminder that life’s best moments come when you find your way back to yourself and the people who feel like home.”

“He stepped toward me and placed his large hands on my shoulders, the familiar warmth settling over me like my favorite sweatshirt.”

“There is something about the holidays that’s special. Even a workaholic Grinch like me can appreciate it.”

I literally started reading this book yesterday morning! I’ve been in a weird funk as of late - but this cutesy, quick, holiday romance was exactly what I needed! It touches on second chances and dating your husband. All things that I could be better about! What a fun way to break up the heavier books and just read, just enjoy reading! I needed this! 100%!

Was it super predictable? Yes. Did it check all my boxes? Yes. I loved it! I decorated my house and finished a book… not a bad day at all! Plus, it read like a Hallmark movie - it made me feel better and gave me some things to ponder. Lighthearted, low tension, perfection!

Jaqueline is also THE SWEETEST person! We met her at a signing and she couldn’t have been any nicer! She gave me all the feels both on and off the pages, so I will definitely be reading more of her books! No question! She’s the total package!

I was able to snag a copy of this eARC from the “Read Now” section on @netgalley, and I am eternally grateful I did. The stunning cover drew me in immediately (who can resist a cozy winter romance?), but what truly kept me hooked was the FMC, Laney. Shes one of many FMC’s I deeply resonated with—someone who would rather people-please than speak her truth, even when it comes at her own expense. Watching her journey as she learned to reclaim her voice and her happiness was captivating and relatable.

The dynamic between Laney and Connor, her husband, added so much emotional depth to this story. Their love felt lived-in, with a history that made every interaction between them tug at my heart. I appreciated how the book explored themes of marriage, communication, and rediscovering love after heartbreak—this isn’t just a holiday romance; it’s a story about second chances, forgiveness, and fighting for the relationship that truly matters.

Jacqueline Snowe’s writing is heartfelt and engaging, with just the right blend of warmth, humor, and holiday charm. I adored the small-town Cherrywood Creek setting—it felt like its own character. Cherrywood Creek was cozy, brimming with charm, and the most wholesome Christmas vibes.

❄️ T R E A S U R E D T H U R S D A Y review ❄️ featuring “Date Night in December” by Jaqueline Snowe!

Laney Reynolds returns home to Cherrywood Creek after walking out on her husband Conor. As Conor has been focusing on climbing the corporate ladder, their marriage has been put on the back burner. They no longer spend much time together and their connection gets more lost as time goes on.

Laney knows that the festive cheer and spirit of her hometown will be the best place for her to heal during December. However, Laney’s departure has gotten Connor’s attention and he flees to Cherrywood Creek to ask for a second chance. But is Connor truly willing to put his wife first over being a CEO? And will he choose happiness over success?

💭 This book gave me all the feels and is such a charming read for this time of year. The fight for their marriage and falling in love all over again is so sweet. It wouldn’t be the holidays without Jaqueline Snowe’s sprinkling of magic and festive cheer!

Laney and Connor are having a marital crisis. Connor works too much and Laney feels like she is alone in their marriage when they used to be a team. Laney leaves Connor and goes back home for the holidays. She has been feeling so lonely, that being back in her hometown feels like a warm hug. Connor isn't willing to give up so easily. Laney isn't expecting him to fight for her, but it is clear she doesn't know just how much he loves her.
Connor didn't realize he was hurting Laney by being gone so much. He was doing it for their future, but now he is willing to do everything in his power to prove to her that she is his number one priority.
She agrees to date him for all of December to see if he is really committed and they are worth saving. I have got to say, I loved seeing how ALL IN Connor was on his marriage. At points, Laney had me a little ragey, but Connor was completely invested in proving that he wanted her above all else. One part of the book made me irritated.. you will know when you get there and I wouldn't have been as forgiving as Connor, but he is a better person than I, and this is a book. I do love to see a good marriage in crisis book where they fight hard for one another though. This was heartwarming.
