Somewhere between 4.25 - 4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌠 end to this trilogy I had a damn good time honestly, so rounding up. This was so fun.

PLOT
After the vision at the end of the previous book, Maddy is more confused than ever. Is what she saw real? If so, can she trust her family, Kain, or the Valkyrie? She must keep working on her training but with fellow Rooks attacking her, her magic developing, & the push & pull with Kain it’s safe to say classes are harder than normal. This book has
- serious slow burn
- trainer/trainee but also reluctant allies
- Valkyrie, fae, familiars, monsters
- dual POV (barely)
- duet audio
- lower spice

PROS
- THIS. TRILOGY. IS. FOR. THE. SLOW. BURN. LOVERS. Omg for real this is what a proper slow burn is.
- But it paid off HELLOOOOOO.
- A truly solid twist. I didn’t expect the turn we took & I love being caught by surprise!
- Nonstop action. No real dull moments.
- Big fan of the bear hahaha. She made me lol.
- OBSESSED with one of the exchanges between our leads when they begin to admit feelings omg.
- Just such a fun world overall.
- This trilogy overall is somehow so short but packs such a punch. Like I just had a blast.

MIDS
- While I do love the romance it did feel like we really got serious this book. It is book 3 of a trilogy so that makes sense but some moments had me like “oh damn okay I guess we’re here.”
- Is everything wrapped up? I feel like I don’t know what happened for certain to a couple of key players in the twist. Or Maddy’s health stuff. I’m not necessarily heartbroken by it but just not sure.

CONS
- I do kind of wish we had more Kain chapters overall! Not in place of Maddy’s but to supplement. Think it would have helped with what I mentioned in the Mid re: the romance, & being in his head was interesting.

This was so fun & exactly what the slow burn romantasy lovers will want!

Super rewarding conclusion to this trilogy. We FINALLY get the Kain x Maddy core we've been waiting for and its absolutely scorching 🔥🥵 Loved the spicy scenes in this installment.

And buckle up because Maddy & Freydis have a WILD past I was shocked by and didn't see coming.

I loved the Norse mythology aspect of this series. I think the author did a really good job at the depth / level of lore she used - it was well-balanced...not overly complex for the series’ length, but substantial enough to feel satisfying rather than superficial.

The writing in this series is straightforward and easy to follow, making it a quick and effortless read for the most part. Like other books I’ve read by this author, this one could have benefited from a thorough round of editing or at least another pass of proofreading. Typos, sentence fragments, and occasional awkward & choppy dialogue pulled me out of the story at times, making the reading experience less immersive than it could have been.

While I totally respect all the work that goes into publishing as an indie author, this is Raine's like, 8th book…so at this point, an investment needs to be made in styling and proofreading.

✔️ Completed Series (Trilogy)
✔️ Humans & Fae (and their Familiars)
✔️ Norse Mythology / Viking Lore
✔️ Spice 🌶️🌶️ (explicit content)
✔️ Overprotective MMC & Powerful, Resilient FMC
✔️ Fast-paced
✔️ Straightforward, non-complex writing

The first 2 books in this trilogy were a ton of fun. The author has a knack for the most infuriating cliffhangers so I'm MORE than ready for answers.

Also PLEASE I want more Kain content!!!!

This last book ended the series perfectly. The entire series was such an incredibly fun and easy read.

Kain turned out to be so much better than we could have imagined. 🥵

Absolutely loved Thyrvi!

Awwwww.. what a lovely ending.
I have so enjoyed this trilogy, I've been waiting for months for its conclusion!
The author said this book ended up longer than she had intended, yet you couldn't tell. It was a fast but evenly paced read. One of the things I have loved about this series was it's easy read style. And even though it's the dreaded dual pov, I love how this author doesn't alternate chapters and POV's. In fact we end up with more of Maddy than Kain.
I think this book and series are going to be tremendously popular and i think this series is a credit to this author.. a lovely, simple, easy to read and fast paced - sometimes spicy romantasy.
I mean, what more could you want!

I should have just not read it. I was only medium interested in the first or second book but found it a unique enough concept to keep going. Overall though I had very little connection with the characters, found them rather boring, and the love story is what killed it for me. Almost dnf’d when Maddie and Kain said ‘I love you’ because they’ve basically spent two hours together total and have no emotional connection outside of seeing each naked twice and yet somehow they’re in love? They don’t know each other at all. It was all “telling” and no “showing”, no build up or interesting storytelling. I skipped about 60 pages just reading a few words here and there and feel like I didn’t miss anything.

Really bad. Writing was so simplistic and juvenile. Storylines don’t make sense (Navi, her parents, etc). Wouldn’t recommend.

I waited for this book SO MUCH and it turned out so disappointing :/. The only reason I kept reading is bc this is one of the best ideas I’ve ever come across, yet the delivery sucked. I don’t remember the other books being this bad 🥴

This is my favorite book in the series. I love Maddy and the things she realizes about herself, with some help, is so beautiful to read. Kain is THAT man! Yes please! Love him so much! I have a special place in my heart for Thryvi. I shed a few happy tears as well lol

Maddy gets into the treasure door without Kain. She gets the armour, a chest, and a blade. Then the place is attacked by Frost Giants. Erik betrayed them, one of the giants is a valkerie that everyone thought was dead. He takes Maddy through a portal with the Giants. Kain can't follow becuase he can't leave.
Maddy's mother and sister are there too. Working with them. They want to crown her and her sister were working on restoring. Her sister is hiding it so Maddy doesn't give it up. Her sister comes to her later and apologizes for all the shit going on, she had to do it to keep Maddy safe.
The rest of the Valkerie and some of the rooks take off to rescue Maddy.
All the secrets come out. The Ice Queen was making her daughters use the crown. Freydis could control the Frost Giants with it and Maddy could erase memories. They made the giants destroy the fire kingdom, bury it, then blamed it on Kain, the Fire Prince. Then they brought Kain back to the Ice Kingdom so Maddy could erase his memories. Maddy refused and ended up erasing everyone's memories and the crown exploded. This caused damage to her brain, causing the blackouts she gets. The trauma caused her and Freydis to sleep for 200 years and then the queen and king replaced their childhood memories. So Kain was punished and his wings taken away for nothing.
Igna ends up putting on the helm that contained a lava God, because she's pissed that her kingdom was destroyed. She can't handle it and it kills her. Kain takes it to sacrifice himself so everyone else can get away. Maddy won't let him die alone. She gets her wings and takes him to the ruined fire kingdom where no one else will be hurt. Kain funnels the lave power into the earth where he can still feel the fire magic. Then he's okay and sprouts fire wings. Then they go investigate the Fire Kingdom that has been uncovered. They find people that have been alive the whole time living under there. Kain isn't the last Fire citizen.
They go back to the training place. Kain is pardoned, his curse lifted, and he keeps his fire wings. Freydis becomes queen of the Ice Kingdom. Maddy is a full on Valkerie. Maddy and Kain finally get to be together now that his skin isn't cursed. They live HEA.

2.5 ✨ - to be fair, stuff finally happened but I still skimmed over at least 50% of this book. Nothing could have happened that would have gotten me to care for anything again tho. But hey, I finished the series. 💪🏻

AAAAAA

Look In order to not spoil I can't say much but holy shit was this a rollercoaster. I loved this story. The elements used and plot, amazing. the thought put into this. You are guaranteed getting answered to all your questions. Best to stay wary of everything and everyone while reading. When you get over 50% of this book Shit goes down FASTTT and it doesn't stop till the end. It's pure adrenaline till the end. I loved the answers to my questions. The reasons behind each mystery was so well explained and I WAS SHOCKED when I found out THE REAL REASON WHY (you're gonna get it once you get it.;) And Kain and Madivia. Kain. my man atp. he does not give af about anyone he WILL stay by her side and HE WILL make sure y'all see that. fuck with her and see what happens 😂😂 AND MADIVIA? HELLO?? have y'all seen her growth? the way she evolved slowly and you see her growing trough each chapter and book. I was so proud by the end! You go girl 🥹!!! And one more thing to add, Thyrvi I LOVE MY GIRL like any time she speaks it's hilarious and I'm entertained. she's low-key my comfort character AHAHAHA.

Beautiful ending to a beautiful book 😭♥️.
This trilogy was so good and well written.
You can easily finish this whole series within a day or two. 💁🏾‍♀️

This is a Viking fae fantasy romance with a very easy to understand plot filled with high stakes missions and very wholesome friendships ♥️✨🎀.

The MCs don't get to kiss until the final book because the MMC Kain was cursed in a way that he couldn't touch anyone. 😭💔 Is that considered a slow burn?🤔

Favourite quotes;

"I will be by your side for the rest of eternity. I do not exist without you any longer." 😭♥️

Nobody will ever, ever make you look that ashamed of yourself again.
Nobody will ever make you feel worthless or alone, ever again. Do you understand me? Do you understand that whatever you say right now will not stop me from ensuring that those who have fucked with you will regret it for the rest of their sorry lives?" ✨😮‍💨

I loved books 1 and 2 of this series but this one felt like it crammed 2 books into one and felt underdeveloped. There was so much going on that keeping track of everything was difficult and because it was so fast paced in the plot, we lost a lot of character and relationship development that was suddenly just like “tada. We are suddenly X” rather than a build up to things.

There were also a lot of info dump, dialogue reveals that could have done much more artfully.

The Nordic influence is fantastic in this series, but I wish Raine used a full service editor that could help with the development of her characters and spacing out the pacing of the book as well as a copyeditor that would help with the in line edits.

This book was not it. I loved the first book, the second one was okay and this one was about as good as the second. I did not enjoy the end and how they resolved the whole thing. It was kinda weird. Why would they all just stop fighting to talk and watch old memories? Why would half of the villains just suddenly back out? Like what? I really liked the plot twist but it just took a turn for the worst afterwards.
Not even the love story is great. They barely know each other but suddenly they are in love? There were literally no romantic feelings apart from lust mentioned at all. But within an instant that lust turned to love?
The whole talking school thing was also not it. What the hell was that?

I love this series so much!! I had been waiting for this book for what felt like forever and I devoured it!

Was so good! What a great ending to the story! I love Maddy and Kain ❤️. This is the third book in the Flame Cursed Fae series. Was worth the wait for sure.

So much growth from both the main characters. It was so amazing to see them grow into who they are really meant to be! Maddy’s relationships were so potent and you could feel them! Definitely a great romantasy series, very little spice but enough to feel that tension brewing whew!!

Please read it!

I feel like the whole series was at the wrong points too slow or too fast. The ending was so rushed after basically nothing happened for two books. The character developments were also very random

Had a fun time but there was so much potential for this to be epic and unfortunately it wasn’t.
I loved the Valkyrie, courts and unique magic though! The romance was meh but I’m glad we got the ending that we did. This series should have been one book. But overall, I enjoyed it and the ending came together well (no pun intended 😉)

overall just meh. i read through so many mistakes and errors and it was giving something i would have read on wattpad in 2015. i think i may have liked the last book the best but it was just too childish for my liking. everything was too rushed when it didn’t need to be and too drawn out otherwise.

This may have been my favorite book she has written so far!!!! I have read the shadow bound queen as well as the hades/ares/posiden trials. And this one took me through all the feels. I definitely had some theories throughout the series, some of which proved right. But, I will say some things completely caught me off guard and I could not put the book down! Highly highly recommend.

Sama zgodba je kombinacija fae world in Viking mythology.

4 ⭐️ based on vibes (only just).

I enjoyed this series, it was my first exploration into Norse/Viking mythology based Romantasy and I really enjoyed the world and magic system.

I enjoyed the slowest (literal) slow burn between our FMC & MMC and I liked the ultimate twist and revelations at the end; which is what tipped it from a 3⭐️ series to a 4 for me.

It’s a quick and easy read but for me the first two books finished so abruptly and I felt like there could have been alot more depth in the series as a whole… I wanted a bit more!

You’ll like this series if you like trials, an academy setting, slow burn, forbidden romance, fae, animal bonds and underdog FMC’s who discover their strength & anger.

This was much better than the first two, and the twist was decently executed. The conclusion felt satisfying, and I like that we FINALLY had some good action.

It feels like unnecessary filler and drama could’ve been cut from the series just to make it one book. It would’ve felt more gratifying and interesting that way.

The smut in this made me cringe for some reason. Honestly, a lot of the romance with Kain felt very meh to me. I was more invested in Maddy’s relationships with other characters like her friends and sister.

Overall, a pretty lackluster series, but at least it came to a solid conclusion.
