Rate this book
What would you do if you had a magic pencil?

This books is excellent as a bedtime story, waiting rooms, and long trips!

Noah is a normal six-year-old boy living a very normal life. Little does he know that today EVERYTHING will change!

One day Noah comes home from school to see that his Uncle Eric is in town. Noah doesn't have many friends so he loves to have company. Uncle Eric is a magician and traveler. Some have labeled him as "mad as a box of lunatic frogs." Noah doesn't care though. He loves his uncle and the wacky and adventurous stories he shares.

Uncle Eric gives Noah a gift from his adventures in Japan. It's a magic pencil he acquired in an underwater volleyball match with a mermaid named Carl.

“It’s not just any pencil, of course! It’s a magic pencil! That fantastic little utensil has been in the “Carl” family for millions of years. And you’re such a gifted artist already I knew it had to come to you. You’ll be AMAZED at what happens when you start drawing with this little beauty.” -Uncle Eric (from the book)

What will Noah draw first?

Noah is not very impressed with the pencil. At first, it seems like a normal pencil in his normal life. Things will never be normal again!

Noah draws a pirate ship with lots of pirates on board. To his disbelief, the pirate ship sails right off the page. He can't believe his eyes.

What happens when the pirates kidnap Noah's dog?

When Noah excitedly goes to tell his Uncle Eric what happened, he hears a yelp from upstairs. When he reaches the door, he sees the pirates pulling Burt (Noah's snow-white Highland Terrier) into the picture. The pirates have kidnapped Burt! What will Noah do?

This is such a fun book. Its perfect for emerging readers in age group of 8-9 yrs. The descriptive language and the vocabulary used is absolutely age appropriate.

And who doesn't love magic? The power to change your circumstances lie with your reach and all one needs to do is to 'draw' it in.

Its a book i would definitely recommend parents to encourage thier kids to read. Heck, its a great read for us adults too. A little dreaming never hurt anyone.

Recommend: 👏👍👍👍👍

Noah is in kindergarten and when he came home his Uncle Eric was at his home. People called him "As mad as a box of lunatic frogs". He was a magician and told the best stories. He assured Noah dragons were real, just shy. He talked and won a magical pencil from a mermaid called Carl. Just a pencil is what Noah wanted to know. A magical pencil. Noah went to his room and drew a picture with pirates and signed it. The picture came to life. He asked Burt to guard the pencil while he went to talk with his Uncle. What did his Uncle say? Did he know the picture would come to life when he drew something? Keep reading because you will be amazed and mesmerized at what happens. You will never look at a pencil the same again.
I borrowed this book on a Kindle Unlimited website and so can you.

The world of children is colourful and creative and their imagination has no bounds and nothing is impossible. I love Children book for the colourful illustrations and the magic of believing and the boundless goodness of heart that we lose along the way to adulthood.

This cute little book is the story of six year old Noah who is gifted with a magic pencil by his magician uncle Eric. He won it from a mermaid fair and square.

Not believing the magical quality of the pencil,Noah decides to test it by drawing a boat and some pirates. He comes to know that the pencil turns everything drawn with it into reality upon signatured by the one who draws it.

Flabbergasted,he runs off to share this news with his uncle and upon returning he finds that his best friend , pet dog Burt was taken by the pirates he drew.

To get him back he draws good Ninja pirates and ship to find Burt. One of the pirates draws a kraken by mistake on their journey to rescue Burt which destroys the ship . And they try to defeat it with tomatoes and Noah draws dragons to defeat the kraken.

Then they fly on the dragons to rescue Burt and find that the pirates were playing with the dog. Understanding that they too get lonely,he draws pet parrots for them to play with and everyone becomes friends.

When all ends well and good, the dragons makes spaghetti for all of them . When Noah finally wonders how to get back to his home, the dragon gives him idea to draw the door to his room which he does and returns to his home from the impromptu adventure.

Yes children's world is simple. They can try to see only the best in others, defeat a monster with tomatoes and dragons can make spaghetti for them.

There is a solution to every problem and usually that's not even logical.. simply magical !!

Noah (6) after a day of kindergarten got off the school bus & headed home.
There was a 3rd car in his parent’s driveway.
It was his favorite It was his Uncle Eric. He was a little different.
Noah loved to listen to Uncle Eric’s adventures.
And so, the tales began.
Japan. Carl (mermaid) gave Uncle Eric a small magical orange pencil for winning a underwater volleyball game. Uncle Eric gave to Noah.
He wasn’t really thrilled but thanked him anyway.
Noah sat down at his desk took out a piece of paper & began to draw.

He couldn’t believe his eyes.

I do not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing free books from publishers & authors. Therefore, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one.

An awesome book cover, great hand-drawn black & white & colored pictures, charming illustrations & proper font & writing style. A very professionally written children’s (preschool/elementary age) adventure storybook. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters, settings, etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s educational presentation (Imagination/adventure), movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini-TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars.

Very imaginative!

Excellent read for kids! My kids loved the adventures of Noah and Burt. They got inspired and even went further to writing their own adventures of the magic pencil. The author has done a good job with the details and it is a very engaging read.

It was very unappealing to me at age 10.

Couldn't keep up with it, and the pictures threw me off. If it were a real life book, it MAY work. 9- may like it.

Funny and Silly

It was a good story and I liked it a lot. I wanted to know what was going to happen next, and was happy the way Noah and his dog, Burt, got back home. What an adventure, and all from his imagination. By Alli, nine years old

The Magic Pencil is an innovative story for elementary school children. While I do think it would have been more effective as a chapter book, the whimsical humor and simple line drawings work as a short story.

Noah is excited when he arrives home after school and finds his that his quirky Uncle Eric has come for a visit. Eric is a magician who travels the world. Noah looks forward to his unique souvenirs. This time Eric has returned from Japan. Noah imagines a sword for his gift, but Eric hands him a pencil that he declares is a magic pencil.

Children in the primary grades will love the adventure, the humor, and funny characters. The illustrations are a driving force to keep the plot moving along. Recommended especially for children in the six to nine-year-old age group.
Now Noah loves to draw and races to his room. At first, the pencil appears ordinary, but when the pirate ship and crew disappear off the page, Noah is intrigued. He leaves his dog Burt in charge, while he races to tell his uncle. But when Burt disappears, Noah needs to find a way to get into the story to rescue his best friend.Pirates, ninjas, a Kraken and dragons all come to life as Noah battles to save his dog. In the end, Noah comes up with a different solution

The Magic Pencil

It's a really cool story. It's the best book I ever read. The part I most liked in the book is , " I liked the whole adventure that Noah did to save his dog Burt and how he can draw different things with his pencil and that come to life."

Noah receives a pencil from his uncle and discovers the pencil brings his drawings to life by signing it. He sets out on an adventure with Pirates. I would put this in the classroom library. I may read this aloud as an everyday starter to class to get students focused and encourage imagination.
