Enjoyed this book

Having read many books of this kind but mostly featuring the British Royal Air Force I decided on reading one from a different air force. The book is gripping and a really enjoyable read, the only reason for the 4 stars is there are a couple of mistakes which made me re read that part to make sure that I had read it correctly. It does not however ruin an otherwise superb book.

Great story of men who flew B17s during WW2

Could not put this book down. Felt like I was there experiencing the horror of battle and survival above Germany. How these brave air crews were able to do this and get back in their airplanes and make it to 25 bombing runs is beyond me.

Read in memory of uncle Myron Alderson

My uncle Myron was a ball turret gunner on the Little Eight Ball of the 709th Bomb Squadron for 35 missions. Now I know. Thanks Myron. A great story about an incredible time.

Real beyond belief...a testament to the courage of American airman in WWII...

Every American should read. Outstanding book. Realistic and historically accurate. The history of their suffering should never be forgotten. May they rest in peace.

I love historical fiction and this book is a great example of what it takes to bring the reader back in time to experience the environment and emotions of those who lived in the past. I was particularly reminded of the great numbers of Americans who lost their lives during the WW II to keep this nation free, and utterly amazed that those who flew the bombers over Europe knew they would almost certainly die. Amazing!

I wanted to rush through the book and at the same time I wanted to take my time and truly read every single word Very well written. A must read for those who read about WWII

I hope to be able to find more of his historical writing to enjoy as much as I did this one
