Drawn to You: Volume 1

Rate this book
Your whole world can change in a single moment—a reckless moment where you let go of your inhibitions and you lose control.

I pride myself on never losing control, but somehow, I did with her.

It started with a promise. It grew with a kiss. And it ended in heartbreak.

My name is Tristan Knight and this is my story. I’m not your average New York millionaire. In fact, when this story begins I am nothing to no one except her. My best friend’s little sister—the light among the darkness.

** 3 "my Lily Pad" STARS **

Now, THIS is what I hate most about being a reviewer: to have to write an honest review for a book, one written by one of your most admired authors and one that disappointed you immensely. This is a very tough job, because well...it's impossible to both be 100% sincere and to not hurt anyone's feelings. It's like politely trying to keep a smile on your face when you're talking to a person you kinda dislike.

*sigh*

There's no way around it anyway, so here it goes:

Tristan Knight was the son of "the help" in the StoneHaven Family house, but he never felt isolated, no, these people have always made him feel like an essential part of their family. He looked up to Mr. StoneHaven, he loved Nicholas who had become his best friend over the years and most importantly, he adored little Emily, the blonde fairy girl that always had a habit of sneaking in his room every night and demanding that he read her poems by Byron...

It's been 4 years since Tristan and his mom left the StoneHavens. 4 years of poverty, debt and misery. 4 years of loneliness and hatred. Tristan thought he would never again see his lost family, the people that are still living in bliss while he is struggling to survive.

But fate is a tricky thing. Sometimes itt takes things from you and gives them back at the most unlikely times, leaving you baffled. That's exactly how Tristan feels when he comes upon a grown-up Emily StoneHaven, that instantly boils his blood and sets an unforgiving rock on his heart. Will she remember the nights they used to spend together? Will she remember the poems he used to read to her? Will she remember the boy she used to play with? Will she remember him at all?

The thing I liked most about this story was the fact that the author never tried to make it seem like the two MCs were in love at the beginning of the story, when they were just KIDS. These two loved each other, yes, cared for each other, oh yes, but neither of them were IN LOVE at the time, which succeeded in turning a situation that always creeps me out in similar books, into something pure and beautiful.

So why 3 stars?

1# // You see, we know a little bit about Tristan and Em from the author's previous series, Bound to You: The Complete Novel, and what I was expecting from this book was to watch their interactions today, while getting glimpses of their past that would explain to us why they ended up the way they did.

Let's see one of the teasers for the book:

Your whole world can change in a single moment.

A reckless moment where you let go of your inhibitions and you lose control. I pride myself on never losing control, but somehow I did with her. I let my desire over take me and I took a bite of that forbidden fruit that stood in front of me in nothing but a nightie. I fucked my best friend’s little sister and I regretted it the moment I felt her wrapped around me. Not because it felt bad. No, because since that moment nothing has ever felt so right.
~ TRISTAN KNIGHT

You can easily guess WHAT I was super excited to read about, seeing as I am a very proud pervert, and how super agitated I became as the pages kept turning and there was no sight of DA SCENE I've been pining for! You wanna see the last few sentences of the book?

“Em, I didn’t know…”

His words crash over me and I'm left with a devastating feeling of regret. In one thoughtless decision, we've changed everything between us.
~ EMILY

Yes, DA SCENE happened at the very end of the book!

Excuse me, but I feel deceived and I REALLY don't appreciate it! I feel beguiled by the teasers and the blurb into reading JUST THE INTRODUCTION to the real story! I'm sure the rest of it will be pretty awesome but, seriously lady, why would you leave it at the best part? It's not even a cliffhanger, because we've all read the last scene already before starting the book! I'm still at point zero! I don't get it...

2# // The fact that Tristan attends a BDSM club, one called "The Pleasure Chest" I believe.

Why the hell would any author feel the necessity to throw in a very worn-out hand-me-down element in their book? We have all read and loved books with male MCs into chains and whips, LOTS OF THEM, and we're frankly really sick and tired to read the same stuff now.

Enough is enough, people.

OVERALL: I would recommend that you wait for the next books to come out before deciding to try this one out or not, because honestly, I can not guarantee if it'll get better or just follow the same line of being a "Meh" book.

I will be going on with the series, of course, because I adore Vanessa Booke and am a fan of her previous series, which gives me hope that it will all pick up! ;)

Drawn to you was exactly like the title, I was Drawn to this title after readimg the Bound To You Series. Tristan was a character that took me back to a book I read a few years ago. His art was the kind you seen in that book as well. I knew when I met Tristan he would be a bdsm character.  And I was excited :). Emily seemed like an innocent who wasn't all that innocent. But the first chapeter on Drawn To You... I was like already I need these to end nicely. They tiptoe around each other, but neither of them really holds back. Which to me it seems, maybe the chemistry between them is so mich bigger than the words I'm reading.

I'm dieing because I need vol.2 so ANYONE i recommend this 1 million times over, but if you hate cliffhangers? Just wait... it's not an easy going last paragraph.

Gifted for honest review from Vanessa Booke :)

Wow what an excellent read!!!

❤❤️❤️❤️I LOVE TRISTAN❤️❤️❤️❤️

I didn't know what to except but I'm glad I had an opportunity to read this amazingly heartbreaking, passionate, all consuming, gut wrenching story. Tristan is utterly amazing we were able to get glimpses of him in Bound to You but in this book dedicated completely to this hunk of a man, we are able to learn about his past, how he met the Stonehaven's and how they became a part of his life, how he ended up taking care of his mother and dealing with the secret longing for Emily the youngest of the Stonehaven's siblings. He considered them his family and felt like they were his own brothers and sisters he couldn't be attracted to the girl he looked over when she had nightmares and read to every night. It's heartbreaking because Emily feels the same attraction for Tristan and neither want to embark on a journey they both know will only bring them pain and completely forbidden or so they thought... Anxiously awaiting the next book!

One of the most heartbreaking cliff hangers EVER, but this author definitely doesn't disappoint and the next book will definitely be worth the wait!!!

Not long after Tristan's mother secures a job with the Stonehavens and he and Nicholas their middle sonecome close ; best freinds .
But even at a young age Emily would seek out Tristan when having a nightmare or just unable to sleep, she is like a little sister to him, she has an innocence he can not resist. The lavender scent of her is ingrained in his mind and his sheets, her nightmares bring her to his room , always leading to him reading Byron to her till she falls asleep and carries her back to her room.
So when events beyond Tristan's control force them to leave the Stonehavens' forcing Tristan to lave behind a family he loves putting his love into turmoil and sending his once strong mother into the bottle ; leaving sevteen year old Tristan starve one the adult and care fr his mom.

Four years later Tristan is not the same young boy he use to be, he was forced to drop out f school take one job and care fr his mother, he has skills painting but not yet finely honed. Tristan is able to make some money doing paintings for the Dom's at the club he frequents the" Pleasure Chest" of their subs in different states of pleasure. Fate is fickel however and affords him the opportunity to possible seek revenge against Mr Stonehaven for being an intergral part in causing the hell that has been his last four years. Plans for revenge change when he is run into by a beautiful lavender scented now 16 year old Emily.

Tristan finds himself engulfed by the family he has missed and brought back into the fold , but Emily is now a temptation he is having a and time resisting !

This is a story that will stay with you. If you had ever had a crush in your very young life, you can relate to this series.

Emily is a young pre-pubescent teen in this first book...who really looks up to the live-in maids son, Tristan. It turns out he is marginally older than her by about nearly 5 years. A great gap to a 12 year old girl and a 17 year old teen. He takes her on as a little sister of sorts. He helps with school work, plays with her when her brothers wouldn't and he chases her demons away at night by offering her security, like any pseudo bigger brother would do. The obvious difference in age makes a innocent situation remain innocent. For now at least. They have built a sweet and comforting relationship built on trust and dependency. When Tristan is no longer around, Emily grows up not understanding why Tristan and his Mother just left one night without any word or farewells. There was never any closure. Tristan mourns the loss of his pseudo family (and best friend) while despising the man that created all of their problems. Unfortunately, that is Emily's Dad. As Tristan re-enters the scene becomes a part of the family's lives again, Tristan agrees to temporarily move back into the home. Emily is now a blossoming 16 year old with a birthday approaching. She has never forgotten about Tristan. Now Tristan sees her in a different light. Now new obstacles present themselves. Yes, she is growing up...but Tristan can not betray his friendship with Emily's brother, despite the ever increasing feelings he harbors for Emily. In addition, his hate for her Father is just too great. Tristan channels his energy into sexual acts that leave him feeling void of emotion or attachments. He is now 21 and he wants Emily, but he knows he would be her undoing. She is innocent. Yet promises he made to her as a young 12 year old, are kept when she becomes 17. But it's not enough for Emily. She dreams about Tristan. She breathes in Tristan. Every thing about him. He is her first crush. She is curious about sex and love and Tristan knows this but pushes her away for her own good...and deep down, also for his. With every pull closer to each other, they are pushed back apart. It is a tug o war of the heart. Of coming of age for the both of them. An undoing in which they can not return from.....ever. I love this couple. I love the sweetness of Emily. The crush every person can relate to. As for Tristan, he has rugged edges. He is a good young man who takes care of his Mom. Who values hard work and is very dedicated to his cause. He comes across as having a bit of a vengeful streak but who wouldn't given his circumstances. He has learned to master control in all the facets of his life....with exception to his love, passion and need for Emily. Any woman would be lucky to have a "Tristan" in her life. Every woman will want to be an "Emily".

I have loved this little book, my only objection is its too short...I want so much more!!!.

The book starts off with an introduction to Tristan, his mother and the Rich Step ford family. Tristan is the son of the housekeeper and she looses her job, and they move away. Tristan has already formed a unique relationship with Emily, the youngest of 3 children. She's 12 when we're introduced. Very innocent, charming and loving. They don't see each other for 4 years. In that time Tristans mother becomes a recluse and an alcoholic, and Tristan has taken on the role of carer and provider at the tender age of 21. He has found the BDSM scene and appears to be a Dom. BDSM is only loosely refered to in this book, so I'm not totally sure at this stage.

Tristan returns to the family fold, when he's descovered serving as a waiter again at a book launch. He puts his mother into rehab and rejoins the family. This is the bit I struggle with..why?, and why do they invite him back, who is he to them?, since the father had an affair with his mother, I'm concerned that he may be a true son, and if this is the case, then Emily and Tristan can never be. Their love is slowly building and the book ends on a bit cliff hanger..very sad for both.

I did enjoy this short introduction to this series, and will be reading the rest!!

Hot,hot!! I loved it!! I will recommend this book to friends.

This ARC was gifted by the Author for my honest review.
OMG! This story is hot, hot. We meet Tristan and Emily. In this story we learned about Tristan's background and the circumstances of how he became part of the StoneHaven family. One day at age 17 Tristan moves out of the StoneHaven house with his mom and immediately Tristan start taking care of his mother illness. After 4 years at age 21 Tristan is reunited with the StoneHaven family again he has a good connection with his best friend Nick and Nick little sister Emily. Who is not so little anymore. At Emily's 17th birthday Tristan give a gift they both never forget a Kiss that changes everything between them. Emily has wanted Tristan from afar and after the kiss they shared the attraction is more between them. But Tristan has a Dark side. What will happen between Tristan and Emily? This is a great story. I can't wait to read the next book and find out what happen next. Thank you Vanessa Booke for a great story. I will definitely recommend this book to friends.

Another truly amazing book by Author Vanessa Booke. As if her first series of books wasn't enough Booke reels you in yet again. In Drawn to you we learn about Tristan and his past and how he was brought up in this world. Having the best of the best then to have it pulled out from under you made Tristan a very hard working man. Taking care of his mother was number one on his list that is until he finds himself yet again pulled in by wealth, loyalty and a forbidden fruit "Lily Pad' aka Emily. Will Tristan be able to withstand the once shy little girl? Will the now grown up Emily bare her soul to Tristan... Be sure to pick up book one. I can't wait for the next installment.

I was given a copy of this book by the author for my honest opinion.

Okay, I can not believe the overall rating.

Once scene was enough for me: Oh be still my heart. The romance, the caring, the nausea of it all.

Give me a break! Erotica and bdsm do not need to be like this. Garbage.

Life Choices

I was given this book for a honest review.

Frustration is something I believe all of us have had. Whether it is sexual or a drive to succeed within our dreams.

In this short prequel we get a taste of what Emily and Tristan are feeling.

We find out how it all started.

Tristan is 17 and is trying hard to make something of himself, unfortunately it is nothing but an a illusion when he and his mother are sent on their way to make a life for themselves. It all comes crashing around Tristan when he is taking care of his mom.

Now at 21 he is given an opportunity, but can he let go of the past and the pain of the last 4 years? We make choices in life everyday and what we choose to do can have consequences.

Emily has wanted Tristan from afar, and her desires are becoming increasingly difficult. Mind you she is still young.

This is a good story, with a lot of visionary wording. I thought it was hot and oh so intense. Alas, I will have to wait for the next book to follow.

Yes I recommend this story, because after all we all have dreams, wants, desires, and fantasies. Yes, there is even heartbreak.

4 Stars!

Great series! This is a new-ish author for me. I loved the first three volumes in this series so I jumped at the chance to review the next installments following a new couple. This book was sweet, sexy, naughty, delicious, and totally sinful. I got sucked into this book from page one and devoured it in one sitting. Get ready for a crazy, sexy ride with a few twists and turns along the way.

This is Tristan and Emily's story. Full of forbidden passion and intensity, get immersed in the naughty world of Tristan. This is first installment in their story and ends on a cliffhanger. Tristan grew up with Nicholas, his best friend, and Emily, the girl he thought of as a sister. He is the "help's" kid but he was never treated differently. It has been years since he saw Emily, his Lily Pad. They were as close as two could be. Now she is all grown up and a temptation he must but can't seem to resist. Get ready to fall into lust and love with Tristan and Emily.

I recommend this book.

ARC gifted by the author in exchange for an honest review . We met our handsome Tristan Knight as Nicholas best friend in Bound to you who happens to carry a torch for Nicholas sister Emily . Drawn to You 1 timeline story takes place before Bound to you . In this prequel we learn of Tristan's background and the circumstances of how he became part of the StoneHaven family . This book takes us thru the sad and hard life that shapes up the man Tristan Knight becomes , also how Emily and Tristan's love affair began , who knew ... Tristan has a very dark I will tie gag and spank you side ...Drawn to You is a bit dark and full of angst but as anything Vanessa Booke writes is also sensual and hot , it will leave you literally hanging and wanting for more . I devoured it in one sitting , it was that good . I can't wait to read what comes next . I'm sure it will be hot of the charts . Way to go Vanessa Booke, I freaking loved it .

Can I please get the next book right Now!! Tristan is so Sexy, and and I just want him to whisper dirty little things to me. *** sigh *** I really enjoyed this book, and even how it has set everything up for his and Lily Pads relationship. Once again Vanessa has left me wanting more..
In Volume 1 you are going to see what makes Tristan tick and what makes him the way he is in present day. Let's just say, he has some hard life experiences. And, with Emily you are going to see just how long she has wanted him from the time he stepped into her life. They have a nice little game of cat and mouse, and I really can't wait for the predator to catch his prey. I am beyond ready for Volume 2 and to see where this is going to lead them. I really hope that you fall in love with their story like I have, and it's a quick and fun read!! I swear I read this in two hours tops!

We finally get the beginning of Tristan! We met the hot best friend in bound to you and now we get the beginning of his story. This story gives us the background of how Tristan Knight transforms from dirt poor kid to hot as he'll artist. Once living with the Stonehaven family, then kicked to the curb, and then finding his way back into the mansion as fences are mended and family demons are treated, Tristan sees Emily after the years apart and she's no longer the child he read stories to. She is now a temptation he must avoid because of who she is and her age. He wants, he desires, and he promises. Will he keep his promises, can he avoid the temptations he feels whenever he is around Emily? Lots of tension surrounds these two and our queen of cliffhanger author leaves us hanging once more. I cannot wait for the next book!

Tristan Knight finds himself with a family, a very rich one (the Stonehaven's), while his mom is working as their maid. He even has a little sister Emily who takes up residence in his heart. Emily loves her "adopted" brother Tristan but she also has a crush on him. Then this world is snatched from Tristan but 4 years later he ends up back with the Stonehaven's. This time Emily is all grown up and her infatuation with Tristan remains. Can Tristan keep his distance? I'm in love with Tristan, his resilience, compassion and willingness to do anything for those he loves. Emily falls into his protective orbit but can he keep that boundary as he starts to see her as the amazing young woman that she truly is. Very excited for part 2 to see how this relationship unfolds.

I am so excited Tristan's story is finally here and BAM another cliffy I need more now!!!! So amazing! I like how you think you know Tristan but there are so many secrets and questions you would never expect to happen. The story could go soooo many ways. It sucks that they don't see each other for 4 years and I want Nicholas to be in it more lol jk he doesn't need to steal the spotlight. Even bough it is short it is packed with a lot of info and shows why Tristan paints the way he does. I know you don't have to read BTY first but I like how it opens up a scene for Tristan and you finally get some details into the bff of Nicolas I can't wait for volume 2:))))

This prequel shows us how it all got started and I honestly can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Who keeps a promise 4 years after its made? Who remembers a promise they made 4 years ago? Tristan does and he follows through on that promise.

This short story will squeeze your heart with what happens at the beginning, then your heart will crack with what happens at the end of it. This book shows you how innocent Emily was and how dark Tristan was. It shows you glimpses of how Tristan's life was and what he went through.

The author draws you in from the very first paragraph and doesn't let you go until the very end.

I love Vanessa! I have been hooked on her and her writing since the first installment of Bound to you. I have been looking forward to Tristan's story. I loved it! I NEED more! We get to see the beginning of Tristan and Emily in this first installment of Drawn to you. The pull they have to each other is undeniable but Emily is still young and Tristan cant...shouldn't...go there. The way this ends has left me craving more! So give it to me Vanessa...please!!

Completely and utterly in Love with Tristan Knight! This story is so great! Unexpected events causing turmoil, and the unexplainable feelings between two very unlikely people make up a great series of events. I really enjoyed reading about Tristan and how he became part of the StoneHaven's family. It was a really great read I can't wait until the next book comes out.

Drawn To You vol. 1 is a great start to the serial. I really enjoyed this book but it was too short! Just as it was getting to the good stuff it ended. I am really looking forward to reading more of Tristan & Emily's story and seeing how it overlaps with the Bound to You serials . I hope that the rest of the volumes of Drawn to You will be longer.
