Jeremy Clearwater is a successful businessman. Starting from nothing, he finished his education then created his own empire. At the age of twenty-three, he made his first million. Prudence idolizes him as a hero, and Jeremy is one of the most respectable bachelors in the city.
But he has a secret to hide...
After a traumatizing experience in his childhood, he’s been a sex addict. Sleeping with a different girl every night, Jeremy is detached from any possible human emotion. The only attachment he has to anyone is his sister, his only family.
But when he’s asked to teach a class at the university, he spots Athena.
Beautiful, graceful, and elegant, Athena is a classy lady with high morals. She’s waiting for the right guy to make up for all the jerks she’s dated before. One-nights stands are off limits for her.
When Jeremy realizes this, he knows he’s wasting his time. But he has one problem.
He can’t stay away from her. Is she the woman who can turn his life around? Can she get into his heart, thawing it from the ice?
Unable to sit still or focus on a single task, I learned at a young age that I was meant to do something that put my entire mind to use. I was always a mimic and did impressions of people in odd places. And that's how my stories began.
But being a great storyteller doesn't mean much when you don't have any listeners. I've been very fortunate to have a fan base that supports my work and encourages me to release sequels. Without all of you, I'd have no purpose. Literally.
My personal life isn't too interesting. My husband is an alpha male that inspires a lot of my novels. He can be pushy and overwhelming at times, but I still love him to the end of my days, especially when I put him in his place. =)
Writing has been a lifelong dream. When I was in college, I was always in awe of the fabulous stories I read. I always said, "I wish I could write something like that someday." But I never thought I would actually do it. Boy, was I wrong.

And the Beat Goes On is the Serenade series #4 by Abby Reynolds. It is an erotic romantic novel. Abby has definitely saved the best for last. Jeremy Clearwater has a problem. He is a sex addict. He has to have sex and lots of it but once he has a woman, he never goes back to her. He is a love ‘um and leave “um guy. To be fair, he always tells the woman upfront that it is just sex and he will not call them again. Some believe him and some don’t. He has no reason to change his life. He made his first million at age 23 and is one of London’s more eligible bachelors at 25. He does a lot of charity work that most people do not know about. One of his college professor’s comes to see him and asks him to teach one class at the college for a semester. This professor’s job and pension rely on his doing this. Reluctantly he agrees. The first night of class, he sees Athena and is definitely attracted to her but knows he can do nothing due to their teacher/student relationship. That doesn’t mean he can’t buy one of her paintings and take her out for dinner. He begins to have funny feelings about Athena and finds he doesn’t want sex with anyone else. Has he met his match? Athena Riley is a senior with a business major and lots of art classes. She wants to be an artist but her father insists she run the carpet business with him. He sees her artistic bent as nonsense. Her brother Ken has gone into computers and has no desire to run the carpet business so it falls to her. Athena has no time for romance especially since she seems to only attract jerks. She sees that Jeremy is controlling and has no intention of getting involved with him. She has her own reputation to preserve. However, when Jeremy keeps behaving like a gentleman, he sneaks past her defenses and she falls in love with him. She knows it is hopeless but she intends to enjoy it for as long as she can.
good story....a surprisingly difficult subject to talk about in the book, about a man with an addiction to sex & the woman who is responsible for his recovery. Meeting in the most unusual of places Jeremy & Athena meet at school where he is a professor teaching her class. He tries to stay away but he can't, he's drawn to her as she is to him. Fighting the urges he forges a relationship with Athena & bares his secrets. Athena while shocked can't give up on him & a new beginning comes their way. This book makes you think about the life an addict leads & how they handle it & also how the love of the right person an heal anything.
This was the weakest of the four books. I was very disappointed as I was looking forward to Jeremy's story. He was supposedly a sex addict, but saying it didn't actually make it so. As soon as he met Athena, he was cured. Not such an addict then was he.
I wasn't sure what made Athena special as her personality was pretty wishy washy in the book and I couldn't see the point of the storyline with Athena's dad and her brother as her relationship with both didn't really have a conclusion.
The book meandered along, Jeremy fell in love, declared that love and then it ended.
Abby, for me you definitely saved the best for last. Once I started reading this novel, I couldn't stop. The plot went into a total different direction than what I anticipated, and it was fantastic. I am not saying anything more, that would be a spoiler and the readers have to find out for themselves. Jeremy and Athena were to me even better characters than Pru and Cash and that is saying a lot. A five star rating is well deserved - congrats Abby! Luv, Linda - South Africa xxx
