Rate this book

“We would make mistakes, we would argue, we would make up. We would lose the people we love and find new ones, and hold our memories close. We would fight for each other, again and again. We would keep living. We were in love.
And we were only human, after all.”

Am i the only one that hated the ending?! I mean come on?! The way that Skye ended the war has to be the most boring conclusion i have ever read. Could the author not figure out a good way to end the story because I would probably be able to list a few. I loved this trilogy so much and was so eagered to find out how it would end and i was totally let down. *Sigh.. Disappointing.

I adore this series and I'm so sad to see it go, however A Radiant Sky wasn't my favourite. I loved it but everything felt a little convenient...and there wasn't enough Asher. BUT, still read the series because all together it's a good one.

For the love of all that is Holy . . . AUTHORS, PLEASE. JUST. STOP.

First of all: the love interests.

Asher: of the dark, A-typical bad boy, moody, sassy, mysterious, egotistical, and, well . . . annoying.

Devin: of the light, brooding, A-typical good guy, quiet, and . . . and . . . I literally can’t think of any more adjectives to describe him because HE HAS NO CHARACTER.

So . . . your typical love triangle, ladies and gentlemen!

Based off what I just told you, who do you think Skye chooses? Anyone . . . anyone?

Once again, the answer is:

Oh! Oh! And lets add in fallen angels, best friend who is not unattractive who is very much interested in the female protagonist in a romantic type of way (but who we all know doesn’t stand a chance), and other best friends that are there for said female protagonist and risking their lives for her and telling her that, “We’re your best friends, of course we’re willing to die for you, silly!”

. . .

Because, Lord forbid that the female protagonist in a love triangle, fallen angel YA TRILOGY actually does something out of character and ends up with the human best friend or the good guy. Just . . . YOU SILLY GOOSE, WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU THINK SOMETHING LIKE THAT???!!

Now, I like love triangle, fallen angel books. In fact, you might say I love them. I mean, one of my favorite series of all time is The Violet Eden Chapters by Jessica Shirvington, so yeah, of course I like them.

But REALLY, YA authors . . . can we mix it up a bit?

This is the last installment of the series, and I am seriously wondering about my compulsive disorder where it feels like once I start a series, I must finish it. No matter what.

I need to get therapy for this.

But what reeaaallllyyy got me in this installment, and what made me just so annoyed with this book, was the writing and how Skye thinks and the dialogue in general. I am so sick of this I’M JUST A LITTLE TEENAGE GIRL AND THIS IS SO MUCH WORK AND I’M NOT GOING TO WIN AND EVERYONE’S GOING TO DIE THAT I LOVE WAHHHHHHHH!!!!

For the love of all that is Holy, can we just stop this horrible teenage girl stereotype in YA books? I swear, if I had a nickel for every YA book I’ve ever read that had whinny, scared female protagonists, I would be living on a deserted island with my own personal library.

I mean, yes, I get that Skye IS a teenage girl who has been thrown into this magical world of angels, but she doesn’t have to buy into this stereotype of being, well, ANNOYING. There’s just not a better way to describe her, sorry.

This whole series was, to me, one big stereotype. Skye, the love interests, the ending . . . all of it was exactly what I expected the minute I started the series. There were no surprises.

Check out my blog here, where I also rant and fangirl over YA books: http://obsessivereads.wordpress.com/

Έχουν περάσει έξι μήνες απ' όταν η Σκάι ανακάλυψε ποια είναι στην πραγματικότητα, αλλά και ποιες είναι οι ξεχωριστές δυνάμεις που έχει. Έφτασε στο σημείο που έπρεπε να κάνει μια επιλογή, να διαλέξει ανάμεσα στην Τάξη και την Επανάσταση. Και όμως, αυτό που φάνταζε απλό, αποδείχθηκε πως ήταν πιο περίπλοκο απ' όσο πίστευε και έτσι, η Σκάι, έκανε μια επιλογή πολύ διαφορετική. Επέλεξε να μην ανήκει σε κανένα από τα δύο αυτά στρατόπεδα αλλά να ιδρύσει ένα νέο, ένα δικό της, ένα στρατόπεδο που θα υπερασπιζόταν κάτι πιο σημαντικό από την τάξη ή την αναρχία. Να επιλέξει το στρατόπεδο των γονιών της και να συνεχίσει τον αγώνα που ξεκίνησαν εκείνοι τόσα χρόνια πριν και που για χάρη του, έχασαν τη ζωή τους. Με τη βοήθεια των φίλων της, η Σκάι, πρέπει να χαράξει τον δικό της δρόμο, συγκεντρώνοντας τις δυνάμεις των Άναρχων και δημιουργώντας έναν νέο κόσμο που θα ακολουθήσει νέους κανόνες. Τι είναι πρόθυμη να θυσιάσει για να επιτύχει και ποιον μπορεί πραγματικά να εμπιστευτεί, την στιγμή που ο χρόνος δεν είναι σύμμαχός της και που το τέλος είναι πιο κοντά απ' όσο πίστευε;

So, I've been in agony for as long as I was able to remember and when I finally read this.. well, I didn't love it as much as the previous books. I only liked it.

There were too many:

"OH MY SHIT I CAN'T DO THIS I'M JUST A TEENAGER"

"Oh my gawd I'LL GET MY FRIENDS KILLED!"

"I only want a normal life, if I could turn back time, I would"

"I can't save them, I won't be able to. I'm too weak."

FACE THE FACTS YOU LITTLE SHIT. Be thankful that I admire your heroine skills, Skye.

First of all, you can't do ANYTHING about what you are now, Skye because one: You're freakin already here!
Just do your job, Skye. <Asher, when Skye pushed him away what did he do? NOTHING lemme' tell you THAT.
N O T H I N G. He just left! He didn't even t r y to convince her that THEM will work out but NO. HE JUST FRIGGING LEFT.

And there's Devin, super oblivious about Raven on the previous books and now he comes running like a scolded little puppy back to her I mean, dude, I know you're hot and all but damn maybe I'll put some sense from Skye into you, ayt?

I love, let me emphasize it, LOVED Raven in this book because I noticed that she hasn't done anything worth hating for in this book-never mind from the previous book- and she even helped them and sided with S K Y E I gotta love her.

I guess that's it.. Oh! And BTW I loved the Rogues vs. Rebels vs. Orders fight bit. The part where Skye calls them. DAMN! Got goosebumps all over my skin.

Sigh. Wish it didn't end like this though. Would've loved another sequel. Sad.

Radiant Sky is a fitting and good end to this series. I enjoyed it and was taken on the ride right along with Skye.
It was so hard to see Skye chose against the man she loves in order to do what is right, where her heart is leading her, and what her parents fought and sacrificed for. Her and Asher's hearts were so hurt and broken and that was emotional to read about. One thing though that I didn't understand is why Asher couldn't have chosen silver and to follow her. It was awesome though how there were steamy moments that sustained me and as usual made my heart beat faster.
I loved Earth, she was a great new character. She was fleshed out well and smart beyond her years. There was also an old character who turned out to be a unlikely alliance and I was surprised how much I grew to like her and what she contributed to the story. Cassie is a welcomed relief in the comedic area. Though she was serious when she needed to be, her loyalty and character shined through.
The ending wrapped everything up really well, though I didn't like who ended up dying.

Bottom Line: Good series ending.

"A Radiant Sky" concludes the story of Skye, a young woman caught between two worlds and two loves. While the novel offered intriguing elements, the execution left me with mixed feelings.

Love Triangle Frustrations:

The story heavily utilises the love triangle trope, which unfortunately became a source of frustration for me. Skye's wavering affections between Asher and Devin felt repetitive and detracted from the emotional weight of the narrative. Asher's betrayal by Skye felt undeserved and added an unnecessary layer of angst.

An Uninspiring Mission:

Skye's determination to complete her parents' unfinished mission felt like a forced plot point. It failed to capture my interest, and the execution of this plan dragged significantly in the middle section of the book.

Uneven Pacing and Rushed Ending:

The pacing throughout the book was inconsistent. Especially the sections between 50% and 70% felt slow and could have been streamlined.

Adding to the disappointment, Asher's significant absence until the very late part in the story left a narrative void. This delay felt like a deliberate attempt to build reader anticipation, but ultimately fell flat.

The final chapters rushed towards a conclusion that left me feeling unsatisfied. I started skimming from 58% onwards just to see how it ended. Sad to say I'm super disappointed.

I must say. I'm very dissappointed. I expected so much more from this book than what it gave me.
It must be because I have read this two years after reading the first two books, and maybe my perception of writing has changed over the years, but the characters simply did not cut it for me.
I don't remember if Skye was always this way, but I did not like her in this last book.
She's extremely bossy, for one. I don't get how there are countless adults, all much more experienced that Skye, but it's Skye who's calling the shots, telling them what to do, instructing everyone, and they all listen to everything she says. Skye even calls herself the leader of her entourage on one page. Uh, when did that happen? What did I miss?
Also, it's very ridiculous how they all have to fight a BATTLE AGAINST ANGELS AND THE FALLEN, and they are all worried........about PROM.
Yes. Prom.
There's this quote from the book:
"'YOU DON'T HAVE TIME TO WORRY ABOUT STUPID TESTS AND MEANIGLESS GRADES. YOU HAVE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO FOCUS ON, SKYE.' RAVEN SAID.
'YEAH, LIKE WHAT SHOES TO WEAR FOR PROM,' CASSIE SAID, WALKING UP. CASSIE WAS REALLY GOOD AT MISSING THE FIRST HALF OF THE CONVERSATION AND CONTINUING ON WITH ABSOLUTE CONFIDENCE. 'SKYE, I GOT THESE BLACK OPEN-TOED BOOTIE CAGE HEELS. YOU'RE GONNA FREAK.'"

Yes. Grades are MEANIGLESS and STUPID. But PROM. God forbid anything bad happened to PROM.

Also, this book has very odd description and there are so many things that didn't make sense.

Now Asher, he arrives at the very end of the book, they never meet, he and Skye, not even once, in between the book, but in the end when she finds him they confesss their undying love and he quickly switches sides.

I'm sorry to say I found it highly unrealistic, ESPECIALLY that ending. That ending wasn't satisfactory at all and the ease with which Skye "defeated" the enemy was ridiculous.

Some strong points about this book, however, was the way it was written and the fact that it had a sensible story line. The events that conspired in this book were very thoughtful and beleiv able, except the ending, and the reunion of the two lovers.

I was introduced to many new characters, one of whom I absolutely adored (yes, Earth, who can hear the sky) and I really liked how Davies conjured up a 3D world in her book. Also, Skye is much more mature in this book, and that's again a plus.

But I just didn't enjoy it as much as the others, maybe because it's been so long, or because of the ending or maybe just Skye...I don't know, but fans of Angels and Demons will want to give this a try.

I really liked the first book, and thought the second was lacking but I was still really excited to see how the series ended. I liked the book but I just felt it was missing something. The booked lacked a lot of Devin and Asher which is probable why the story didn't go there for me. It felt like the ending was too neat. I felt Like it lacked creativity and Davies ran out of steam and just put a nice little bow on it. I know you can't have have epic battle with out any causality's but I did't want it to be who it was. I also wish they did more with Ian, he was too much of an after thought, like his arcs got cut from the novel. I think it would have been an unexpected move to have Skye end up with him instead. All in all I liked book.

The conclusion was ok. There was a lot happening with the FMCs power that seemed to just happen with no real explanation or cause. The love story had no chemistry, the FMC seemed to have more chemistry with almost every other male she interacted with than with Asher.

The conclusion was rushed and boring on top of it. Overall, it came across as an overdramatic teen love with very little substance.

I had no idea I would like books about angels until I, basically by accident, picked up A Beautiful Dark. You see, I had no idea the book had anything to do with angels and paranormal events. I thought it was a contemporary so imagine my shock when it was anything but and imagine my greater shock when I actually enjoyed it. Having been a fan of the first book and a HUGE fan of the second, A Fractured Light I was so grateful when an early copy of A Radiant Sky was placed in my hands. And although not my favorite of the series, I know, I know, endings are hard, I think it fit nicely with the other two parts and I loved the series as a whole.

A Radiant Sky picks up where A Fractured Light left off. Sides have clearly been drawn between the angels and Skye is once again stuck in the middle, somewhere between light and dark, and she is pressured to pick a side. Devin, once part of the Order is now a member of the Rebellion and Asher still holds the key to Skye’s heart. The problem is that Skye doesn’t trust either side so she decides to go it alone. To take on both sides even if it puts her life in danger and breaks her heart over Asher. Stronger than she has ever been Skye has the fate of the world on her shoulders. But if she wins will Asher still be there waiting for her?

Like I said, this definitely wasn’t my favorite of the 3 books. I enjoyed it and read it fairly quickly, but I just felt like something was off. I don’t know if it was because of the lack of Skye and Asher interaction, or Devin now being on Asher’s side, or the addition of Raven into the fold of things. It just felt like too much of it was just convenient, which I understand to a point. Things need to be wrapped up in a 3rd and final book, I don’t deny that. I just wish it didn’t have to be so neat. I think that was my main problem with A Radiant Skye. The story was great, the characters were just as strong as they were in A Beautiful Dark and you could see the whole picture. I think that I just didn’t like the neatness of everything. I wanted more drama, more heartache, maybe an extra unhappy ending.

But with that said, I didn’t hate this book at all. I think it was a great part of Skye’s story and love that Davies brought her kind of full circle in a way. She grew as a character from page one of A Beautiful Dark to the final page of A Radiant Sky and that was apparent and made me happy to have been a part of this journey. Would I recommend the series even with my annoyance at the neatness? 100%, hands down, yes. Definitely worth the read and I look forward to what Davies has for us next.

A Radiant Sky is the conclusion to a series I have grown to love. When I first heard about this series I was intrigued to see where it would go. I love the theme between good and evil because sometimes choosing evil is the right thing to do. But in this case where Jocelyn took the story and how it developed totally took me by surprise and I can honestly say I liked it but I wanted more. I wanted the epic battle to be one that had a climatic presence and it just did not have it for me. I mean don't get me wrong because I loved the story but the scene that was supposed to be the epic scene was just an okay scene and nothing more.

Skye is not your ordinary 17 year old. She has been torn between light and dark for a while now and she will have to chose which side she will follow. She does not make her decision lightly because she knows that the rebellion and the order are watching her closely and Devin and Archer are watching her closely to. She knows they want her to decide to make her decision so they can see what is going to happen but she surprises them all by deciding she will chose neither of them. She is going to forge a path for herself and include the rogues to help her. She knows everyone is upset with her but her decision is made and she will stick by it. She knows fulfilling her parents mission is going to be hard but she never knew it would be this hard.

Skye knows that doing this mission could make or break her and the world but she refuses to chose between light and dark and she refuses to be threatened into anything so she does what she thinks is right. With this decision though she never thought she would create enemies out of the Order and the rebellion. But she does and she takes it in stride and continues on her mission of stopping what needs to be stopped. Dark days lie ahead for her but she is embraces them one day at a time.

Will she be able to complete her mission? Will she end up with Asher or Devin or neither? Will the world be safe from the evil that lurks? All these questions and more are answered in this final installment of the series. So happy reading and tell me what you thought about the epic showdown scene!

A Radiant Sky is a great book. The book's main characters are Skye who's part Guardian and part rebel, Devin who's a Guardian, Asher who's a rebel, and Raven who was once a Guardian but now is neither a Guardian or a Rebel. The story takes place in River Springs, Colorado. A Radiant Sky is the third and final book in the Beautiful Dark Series and picks up where A Fractured Light ends. In the book Skye finally has her wings they are not white nor black but silver like her eyes, after she healed Raven her wings also become silver like Skye's. Together the unlikely pair will join up and form an army of Rogues to rise up and defeat both the Rebels and Guardians to create a entirely new group. One problem Skye doesn't know weather to fight the fight she knows that she must or follow her heart and go to Asher but that means joining the Rebellion. She meets a little girl named Earth on her hunt for Rogues to join her army and finds out what she must do.

I believe that A Radiant Sky is a great book. I liked that it was suspenseful yet touching, like when Skye has to pick love or duty. The story will hook you and you won't want to put the book down until the end. The only downfall of the book was I wish that it would have given more detail about what all happened at the end.

A female lead with a strong character. A sexy boy with a wicked grin. A loving family. An awesome best friend. A beautiful dark leading to a fractured light. An epic battle. A reunited love. A prom dance. Sitting at the hill watching the fractured light give way to a radiant sky. A perfect story. A worthy book. Just simply beautiful like the feel of flying.

A decent ending, but not amazing. It fell completely flat at the end. I just wasn't satisfied. Devon's ending was pointless and Skye just gave up...it was weak. The only part that I liked was she ended up with who she should have and Aunt Jo got her happy ending.
