Sterling Shore #2

Tagged & Ashed

Rate this book
The cunning predator, the willing prey, and a weekend neither of them will be able to forget - ever. Ash Branderwood was told one thing before going to her best friend's brother's wedding - don't get Tagged.

There's always that one guy you shouldn't want, but you just can't help yourself. He's going to be horrible for your health, he'll probably break your heart, but he's going to be so much fun while he's doing it. Stay away. Ash Branderwood can't seem to heed such logic when she meets playboy millionaire Tag Masters.

Weddings always seem to create a false sense of intimacy, but Ash doesn't take that into consideration when she starts fantasizing about the man she can't possibly tame. She's a good girl... well, good enough. She's never really taken any chances or done something irrational or foolish. Tag is just the person to rectify that for her.

Tag has never done anything but take chances. He never had anything to lose - so he risked it all and built his name up in Sterling Shore. Meaningless sex is one of his many hobbies, and he's not looking to settle down any time soon. After all, these are the best years of his life.

But, one look at Ash, and he almost forgets his own name. And what in the hell is she doing at Wren's wedding with Bity?

Tag is almost furious when he sees Billy Prize brought a girl as stunning as Ash, considering Tag doesn't feel as though Billy deserves such a thing. He has to have her - at least once, possibly twice.

It was supposed to be a weekend of fun, one she'd remember just long enough to forget. But she quickly realizes there's one thing for sure - she's never going to be able to forget Tag Masters, only it isn't for reasons one might think.

All hell breaks loose when secrets emerge, but when Ash's life is endangered, Tag has to put aside his own issues to keep her safe.

Tag Master doesn’t do relationship. Everyone that knows the sexy and rich guy knows this about him, that he’s commitment phobic. But that changes when he meets Ash in his best-friend’s wedding. Regardless of they can’t take their hands of each other, Ash doesn’t want to get close because she doesn’t want a broken heart, and Tag doesn’t believe he can be in a relationship. When an event forces them to be closer, everything starts to change. And when I stalker starts to threatens Ash’s life, Tag knows that now’s the time to change his relationships beliefs. Now he just have to convince Ash of that.

This was a nice reading, steamy and romantic but there was some aspect that didn’t work for me. For the first half of the book I was slightly bored. In the second half it picked up and unless it was completely addictive, because something was always happening and the mystery was keeping me on edge, it also felt a little over the top. It was addictive, kind of like an adrenaline rush: it was great while I was reading it, but after I just stayed there thinking “why the hell did so much happened?”. The direction that the story took it wasn’t my favorite and while I enjoyed reading it, I can’t overlook the fact that I rolled my eyes more times that I would have liked. However, I intend to keep reading this series and if you liked the first book, you probably should keeping give this a try!

Characters Development: After the beginning, when his “manwhoreness” subdued, I started really liking Tag. There was some moments where I wanted to slap him, but other than that he was a good hero. Ash was good at some moments, but those moments were kind of ruined by those where she was a bitch. And she had some bitchy attitudes that I can’t overlook, so she’s definitely not making my favorite heroines list.

This novel e x h a u s t e d me.

I don't often doubt the creation of my bookshelves, but occasionally I frown at the motivation behind the making of my shelf 'choke-a-bitch'. This book reaffirms its initial creation.

My explanation as to why? Well that was because there were several moments (sometimes entire chapters) during this read that my fingers seriously itched to wrap themselves around Ash's stupid, little throat and throttle the bitch.

So I thought (after I'd calmed down) that I'd comprise a list of reasons why this book frustrated me so freaking much:

1. I cannot tolerate perpetual liars. Yeah sure, white lies every now and again are awesome but SERIOUSLY ASH IS A NEXT LEVEL LIAR .

2. Stalker plots are overrated. Unless its a mystery/thriller novel, please don't reveal a stalker who is completely irrelevant to the whole stupid plot.

3. The representation of women. No woman that I know of drops to her knees to give a guy a blow job when he didn't ask for one AND in a room that anyone can walk in on.

4. The idea of being 'worthy' of having a beautiful woman on your arm. It is repeatedly mentioned by Tag that Billy is not suitable for Ash because of her beauty. Please pause while I rip the screen off my laptop in rage. I cannot and will not listen to idea of 'worth' when beauty is mentioned. Ugh.

5. Unrealistic bad luck. The girl practically had a near-death experience on every page.

6. The protagonist is an idiot. She literally looks at situation, decides in her own head what the frick is going on and then jumps ship. I'm sorry but DOES ANY CHARACTER IN THIS BOOK HAVE COMMON SENSE??

I could go on, but I won't.

"No one has ever captured my breath the way Ash does."

Tag and Ash. Their story began in lust.. with many misunderstandings and unspoken words, so they drifted apart... but in the end something even bigger than them kept them together. Tag turned out so sweet and so protective. And Ash was very strong and independent. They made a great couple.

This whole series is very sweet so far, and can't wait to read the next couple in the series.

I've been enjoying this authors books lately. She's a good new find but unfortunately this one was a bit of a let down. It feels like the author rushed this and didn't take enough time over the plot which was very weak.

We met Tag in book one. We know he's a player. Ash is best friend to Billy (also from book one) who is in love with Rene and wants to use Ash to make her jealous but Rene wants Tag. There is a big collection of friends in this book as well as them all been close to the mother Melanie. I therefore found it odd that over the years Billy and Ash have been bestfriends she has never met Tag (more of the big collection of friends later). When Billy asks Ash to attend his brothers wedding as his pretend girlfriend she agrees but he warns her not to get 'Tagged' meaning don't be attracted to Tag but as soon as Tag and Ash meet they have an instant attraction.

The beginning of the book takes place over a few days. Tag and Ash play a game of 'Truth'. The answers set up a lot of the plotline. I knew what was coming after that. A small misunderstanding at the end of the wedding sends Ash running and then the book fast forwards 6 weeks. Then something happens and the book fast forwards 7 months, then another few months. This part of the storyline was very weak as back to the collection of friends...it didn't seem possible that they wouldn't intervene and try and get Ash and Tag to reconnect over that time nor did it seem believable that Ash's 'secret' was known by only two people and that when the others did find out they were so willing to believe her 'story', especially Tag!

There is a stalker storyline that was just so very over the top and unbelievable that it was actually laughable but it's a set up that allows Tag back into Ash's life and then the story picked up again. There were some good parts to the story and I liked Tag and Ash but this one wasn't as good as book one however, I look forward to book 3 and hope it's an improvement on this one.

Confidence is one thing, but Tag is an arrogant jerk. Worse, he's a user and doesn't care that everyone knows it. Ash even giving him the time of day shows that she's shallow and possibly stupid. One chapter is all I can stand this nonsense. Ugh.

DNFing this after just a few pages. This is so badly written, I can't go on with it. I will just start on the new Penny Reid's book instead. Why can't we get more decent romance writers like her?

Who in the hell gave this 4 stars?!?!?! This book is a DUMPSTER FIRE!!!! Just a warning - this entire review will contain spoilers, and trust me - you'll thank me for it. It's my duty as an avid book reader to warn you off of badly written books..

Ash (utter twat) agrees to attend a wedding weekend as her BFF Billy's fake girlfriend. Billy is hoping to make the girl he really likes jealous. His one warning to Ash is not to get "tagged" by the family whore, Tag (billionaire whore). When Tag shows up at the wedding with his two dates, he's shocked to see Billy is there with a beautiful woman who is so far out of his league that it's unbelievable. He starts putting the moves on Ash, leaving his two bimbo dates to get drunk. Ash is sooooooo needy that she wants to hook up with Tag despite his whoring ways.

We continue on this wedding weekend with FOUR penetrations that are interrupted. How the f*ck you going to have the couple dip the wick that many times and have them get interrupted by the same f*cking person?!?! Eventually, they get a completion and have sex a few more times. At the end of the weekend, Ash decides that Tag will never change his ways so she leaves without a backward glance. Oh - now she also has a stalker who has been threatening her for years. Yay!!!! Tag was pissed Ash took off, but it's ok because he didn't want to settle down anyway, despite not being able to stop thinking about her.

6 MONTHS LATER.... Ash is pregnant!!!! But she doesn't want to tell Tag, because sure - why not keep a baby from his daddy. So mature of her. Tag hasn't talked to her at all during that six months, but he's casually kept an eye on her. Eventually hiring her some bodyguards to keep the stalker away.

We then start the part of the book where each chapter is about one paragraph long, switching back-n-forth from each character. Hell, one paragraph might be exaggerating. More like a few sentences then bouncing back to the other character.

So when he finally realizes that she's seven months pregnant, he confronts her but she tells him it's not his. Then the stalker shoots her and then more stupid shit happens.

THIS BOOK IS AN UTTER TRAIN WRECK. It's so badly written that it's not even funny. Tag'ss POV:

Hell, he can’t land a date with Rene Ballinger. This can’t be right. I have to go investigate.

That last sentence has me cackling. "I HAVE TO GO INVESTIGATE!" ok Nancy Drew, you get right on that.

Guys - just stay away from this one..

2nd review:

Note to self:

Do not reread this book. The miscommunication, the lies, the deceit and just basically the second half of this book will drive you insane. Ash's choice in lying and withholding a very important fact from the hero will piss you off. Pregnant with his baby...and tells him to his face it isnt his out of fear and some misguided sense of heroism when really its playing the poor victim and stripping Tag of his choices. NO SIR. That is not my cup of hot chocolate. It started off promising, but derailed into a mess you ended up feeling very meh about. Regardless I'll leave it as 3 stars. It was alright and I was able to finish it.

1st Review:

Tag and Ash didn't go about their relationship in the best way. Lies. Deceit. Secrets. It's how they started and that just led to a whole messy debacle. And the fact their messiness spanned over a year or so. All this "a month later", "7 months later"...within all these months they were either avoiding the other, in denial or both.

Not a complete bust of a read. I'll definitely continue with this series.

I have been Tagged!!! Holy smokes!!!! Tag forever known as a complete ladies man has found his match in Ash. Ash tries to be immune to his charms, but she doesn't last long. Her best friend warns her not to get Tagged, but it's too late. There is a lot of drama in this book. This is the second book in The Sterling Shore Series. It's ok if you didn't read the first one because honestly you don't need to. This book has a bit of suspense to it as we try to find out who is stalking Ash. There were lots of hot scenes. Check this one out. No cliffhanger. Dual point of view. Lots of good characters. Lots of bad actioned characters.

This book was awful. I'm really not sure how or why I finished it other than an ingrained sense of obligation to finish things I start. The stalker plot was so over the top it was laughable. I hated being in Ash's head. I can't stand relationship peril that is fueled only by stubbornness and misunderstandings. The word "erection" is used so often that it felt like I was reading a sex ed book rather than a romance novel. And why is everyone bemused all the time? I'm seeing that more and more in these chop shop, bargain bin novels. I'm going back to Colleen Hoover and Tammara Webber where it's safe.

Another "Reformed Sinner" story of Sterling Shore manwhores... A phrase "you've been Tagged" was so ridiculous to me. The Hero's name is Tag, and it was used by his ex-flings.

Tag is so smitten with Ashira (Ash) that after weekend together and during the whole separation of one year, he stays celibate. Yeah, well don't be too excited, yet!!! He of course suffers from the disability of non-functioning d*ck after meeting Ash, so it's not like he doesn't want to. He really really tries to sleep with other women, he just can't... You can guess, what's my opinion of that!

There's very thin line between Bravery and Pure Stupidity

Ash - our heroine - is very attractive woman, it makes only sense she would be the only one able to Reform the infamous Tag... She's so attractive that she has three stalkers at one point. 😧 I'll get to it later.

More to the story - after amazing weekend together, Ash is pregnant and after listening to Tag's history, she realizes he's not a guy for commitment like a baby, so decides not to tell him. So far so good, right? Typical unexpected pregnancy trope. Well, not exactly, there's more.

Not only she doesn't tell him, but she even lies to his face, when he directly asks her if it's his baby! Why? Well, because she has in her mind his well-being of course! And she doesn't need ANYTHING from him of-freaking-course!!!

After two murder attempts on her person, Ash also thinks it's unnecessary to have bodyguards and to live with someone else. She constantly makes the situation less severe than it really is. Their mutual friends call her brave on multiple occassions, but frankly? This is stupid, not brave!!

Thankfully, CM Owens knew how to write sexual tension, so that definitely save this one. Otherwise I wouldn't be sure about 2 stars rating, even.
This book just exhausted me 🥱 😴

I loved the, ummm, premise of C. M. Owens’ Wild Ones series, even though the execution had a lot of room left for improvement. ( I use premise so much, I must look up for synonyms). I open her books expecting a very quick but fun enough book to pass a few hours, frankly, I don’t expect too much going in. But this one was so bad that I had to write this review, because I know I’d forget otherwise.

Spoooooillllleeeeeers:
The stalker situation and the body guard’s complicity and the unbelievable reactions from these characters, the over the top melodramatic back and forth that took a year, the stupid main characters, the drama with the hero’s father trying to rape the heroine, the tired, exhausted dynamics of the hero and heroine, it all felt in direct contrast with the energy of the beginning of the book, at the end I felt more frustrated and pissed off. I hated the heroine and her stupid decisions, in the end I felt the child would do better if the hero filed for and won sole custody. I also couldn’t understand the point of the thing between the heroine’s best friend and his brother who is the hero’s best friend. How can anyone be selectively oblivious?

Tag I fell in love with him in the previous two books and he was a wild ride his thoughts are never far from sex and it's even worse when Ash is around, "her perky a** couldn’t be any more perfect. I’m going to have fun with that a**." Tag he changes throughout the book and I loved those changes but I also loved his playboy, dirty side and his mind I loved being in it, "she almost pouts, which excites me to no end. She wants me bad now, almost as bad as I want her." He can be assertive, "let’s get this party s*** over with, and then I want you to stay with me again tonight. This time, though, it won’t be so innocent,” he says, sounding assertive." Certain things and aspects change Tag for what I think is the better and he's willing to put himself out there, "what about supplies? Do you need anything… um… feminine?" I loved this book.

Way too much drama

Sorry but I was expecting a lot more from this story. I liked the first book well enough even though it was far fetched. But this was pretty awful. SPOILERS......
Seriously, if you have a stalker that you are so frightened of....why oh why do you go running off by yourself because you are pouting? Pouting over something that was completely your fault. Tag let Ash off way too easy for hiding her pregnancy and his child, she deserved a lot more anger. She just came off as a brat, a spoiled brat who is selfish. This story was terrible. Ash was shot, stabbed, almost raped in like the span of a few weeks, months? At what point is it just too much for one story. Of course it doesn't end there because she is kidnapped and almost killed....again. Sigh. Don't bother, move on.

2.5-3.0 stars. Hmm..not what I was expecting. The first bk of this series was such a cute YA romance, assumed this would be the adult version. Well it is, but there's a stalker/suspense element that was incredibly weak and totally unbelievable. I liked the romance between Tag (rich playboy) and Ash, an friend of the family, as it started out. But the storyline got changed in the midst of all the suspense and Ash was made into some femme fatale that all men wanted. WTF?!? It just became a tangled mess and read more like some lame made for TV movie with a mad rush to an end. A head scratcher for sure. Don't know where this series is headed for bk 3, but I vote for a cute romance.

4.5 CONSIDER ME TAGGED STARS

I am officially hooked on this series. Kade was very swoonworthy in the first book. Tag Masters has more of an edge to him but there is a sweet guy under all of that. A bit predictable in places? Little bit. Was it a book I kept thinking about whilst working? Very much. Was it a page turner with yummy hero??? Absolutely. It was quite sad in places too, surprisingly. And also, Ash had the worst luck of any heroine!
Lots of passion. Good Read and helped me escape from the real world for a bit. Fabulous!

A girl and a guy hook up. Girl get pregnant but decides not to tell the guy, even when he shows interest towards her and the son he doesn't know is his. Furthermore some parts of the book felt rushed at light speed. Add the OTTness of a crazy stalker and I got a book that is not my kind at all.

4.5 Stars!

It was really good! I simply adore the writing, and the characters dynamic is spot on! The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because the suspense in the story didn't seem to really "peak".

I liked Ash a lot! I loved how Tag grew through the book. The book was just really really good! And yes, I might have been "tagged" a little bit ;)

Will I recommend?: Yes!

When I read book one in this series I was in love. It may be the best free book I have ever read and I would have gladly paid for it, so I was really excited when I heard there was a book two. But this one just didn't compare to book one Hooked on the Game. Not that this book was horrible it just wasn't everything I had hoped it would be.

When Ash is asked by her best friend to attend his brothers wedding and pretend she is his date and make Rene the girl he has wanted forever jealous Ash agrees. It becomes very obvious when Tag walks in that her best friend hates him and Ash is given a warning don't get Tagged. Tag doesn't do relationships but he does as many woman as he can. Showing up to his best friends wedding festivities with his two dates Tag is sure he has the very best hanging in on his arms till he see's Ash.

Tag can't believe Billy's roped a girl as beautiful as Ash and instantly wants her as his own for the weekend. But Ash isn't impressed that he has two dates or by his reputation. Even though Ash admits Tag is gorgeous she won't be a notch and she doesn't like how cocky he is, so she does everything to make it seem like she doesn't care at all. But Tag is very persistent and when Tag finds out the real reason she is at the wedding Tag wastes no time trying to make her his.

The more Tag pushes the more Ash can see the man behind the facade and they quickly become more. Soon the weekend becomes the very best weekend for them both till Ash asks him if he wants to get dinner together after the weekend, and Ash is quickly reminded of who Tag really is. Deciding to take a risk Tag plans to take Ash up on dinner and plans to tell her only to find her gone.

Weeks later Ash has problems of her own and they seem to be mounting with each passing day. When Tag and Ash finally see each other again a lot has changed but the feelings they have for each other just seem to have grown. But Ash's life is in danger and she is keeping a secret that could rune them all. When Tag finds out that Ash's life is in danger he does everything he can to protect her and then as with all secrets the truth comes out. And now Tag will have to decide if he can forgive her and move on with there relationship, all the while doing everything he can to keep her safe.

This book started out really good I loved that Ash didn't turn into a puddle of goo just because Tag was hot and then she kind of did and that really frustrated me. I loved the secret that Ash kept and think it added to this story but she kept it so long even to the point of lying and then it became too much and instead of adding to the book it took away from liking Ash. My other concern was with all of the trouble that was following Ash I love a good story with the heroine in danger but in this book it was almost seemed too much and ended up almost being over kill.

Now after saying all that this book wasn't horrible Tag was a great hero who was very loving, forgiving and hot. Once he fell for Ash she was it and I was so happy that he stayed true to his feeling even when they weren't easy or quick. I also think the story line was really good I just wish it had been skimmed back some. Ash was also a nice heroine she had some TSTL moments that had me shaking my head and wanting to shake her but she was a very strong, smart, and loving heroine.

Overall this book had it positives and negatives, and some of the negatives may have felt more prominent just because book one was so great but this was still a really nice read. I will still read book three in this series because I (still) have high hopes. I think this author has a lot of talent and a way with story telling. I am really excited to see the growth in C.M. Owens writing and to see where this series goes from here.

This book is a Spanish soap opera. For those of you that are not familiar with Spanish soaps, they usually are over the top, crazy situations, one after the other in a way that could not possibly happen in the real world. That is exactly how this book has turned out to be. One horrible situation after another for the heroine, with no development in their relationship.
The main characters do not get developed at all. It is a case of insta love (seriously, why is that so in right now?), and then lots of skipping ahead by weeks/months which contributes to the characters not being developed and being extremely one dimensional.

Based on their relationship alone this book would have been a snoozer, it is because of all the crazy situations you just keep reading on, in a state of horrified fascination as you hope for the book to get better. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because in this book she also gives you the male leads point of view, and because their initial relationship had so much potential for a fun read.

——Spoilers——
Read on at your own risk!!

Seriously this book piled on all of the following; hidden pregnancy, stalker, murder attempts galore from which main characters recover instantly, kidnapping, rape, etc. It was just too much! Too over the top dramatic. Add in the previously mentioned lack of character and relationship development, and you have a perfect Spanish Soap.

Tag Masters doesn't do relationships, he is a playboy who loves variety and rarely wants a repeat performance. When he meets Ash Branderwood he is intrigued, she doesn't appear to be interested in Tag, but he can charm any woman, including Ash.

Ash has been warned about Tag, once you have been Tagged you are pretty much pushed aside for his next conquest. However the attraction is undeniable and when Ash decides one night is enough, she doesn't expect to have Tag continue to want to spend time with her. With the wedding they are attending separately in full swing, Ash realizes Tag will never settle down and it is best to cut her loses before she loses her heart. However shortly after, Tag sees Ash and he wants answers. Can the playboy lose his title and realize Ash could complete him in a way no other woman could?

Loved this, had several twists I was not expecting. I knew Tag would be a playboy but wasn't sure how his story would unfold. Loved Ash, she is a woman who has a strong head on her shoulders and I was charmed with the way she handled herself from beginning to end. Another great read by CM Owens.

Meh. Most of the book, the couple was separated by misunderstandings and lack of communication. There wasn't much to them other than sexual attraction, including the "my equipment no longer works for other women" trope. That's not to say I didn't like the characters, individually or as a couple - I did. I was just hoping for more depth to the relationship itself.

This book was TERRIBLE. Never have I read a book with a more annoying heroin than Ash. I honestly don't know how C.M. Owens went from writing Hooked on the Game to this (I absolutely loved Hooked on the Game btw). I couldn't even finish the whole thing and boy did I try, but it was just too maddening to read. Don't waste your time on this book.

This was a nice story, I enjoyed it. It’s an easy read. The story went a little differently than I expected but that is certainly not a bad thing. I liked that.
The story is told from both POV’s. In this story you really felt the change of Tag, from being a party guy to becoming a responsible adult. I really liked the change in him.

In desperate need of editing. Book 1 had editing issues but book 2 is beyond the pale. Gallant does not equal Elegant and should not be used every second paragraph. The plot was predictable and then ridiculous in the extreme. Awful sequel. Pity.
