The story was fine. There was not a lot going on in angst or suspense. I found Mitch to be a bit annoying and couldn't quite figure out Bethany's attraction to him. Bethany's parents were really annoying and turns out they were looking to scam Bethany out of her inheritance. Add in a kidnapping attempt, saved by Mitch and a proposal and there's your hea.

Mitch longs for a wife and a family. He wants to build a home upon his land and to ranch. He lost his father not long ago and his mother headed back east to live with her sister. His fathers mercantile was never his dream but day in and day out it is now what he does. He lives in the family’s large home as well. It’s not what he wanted for his life. There’s no women around so he has no way of changing how his life is. He’s started drinking to take away the loneliness.
Bethany has recently come to town with her estranged parents. They gave her life yet left her with her wealthy grandparents to be raised. This offer was out of the blue for them but she wanted to get to know them both. She meets Mitch while mistakenly on his lands wanting to take pictures of the scenery. There’s an instant attraction between the two of them yet they also butt heads. Her father wants to purchase Mitch’s family home and the mercantile and goes about it in the wrong way. Mitch feels there’s something suspicious about the Mr. Jones and his wife. New information comes to light that both Mitch and Bethany discover and all is not as it seems. In the midst of it all, their attraction never goes away and they start to fall. It’s adventurous and a fun story to read.

Meh.. but was still better than previous one. Somehow the Cole books were fantastic and these are short and not so great, almost as if someone else has wrote it.

But none the less, I liked Mich's character was looking forward to his story, he was introduced in second book and I loved his protective side since start. His character was build great and had enough time to mature, so kudos to that. On the other hand, Bethany was again a let down for me. She had awkward relationship with her parents and she was confused all the time about what is right thing to do.

Plot was an average one, but still better than previous book. I was surprised to see no guest appearance from any of the other characters from the book, not even Nora.
This was an average read, Certainly not anyway near the story of Grayson or Ashley. :)

Not so good

I couldn't quite grasp the plot to this story at all. Mitch, owner of the mercantile, falls for newcomer Bethany. She is supposedly a photo-journalist from New York accompanying her parents. These same parents have been absent from most of her life. The plot seems to surround some money she has inherited, but does not know about?

This story did not do it for me at all. There was no explanation for the reason the parents had been missing, no conversation on the subject at all. Sorry, this one was not so good.

This book was interesting a slightly different from the earlier ones. There are some things I want to comment about:
It was a bit annoying when Mitch just went on to kiss Bethany like I don't know...it was just odd timing and a bit out of place but whatever.
Bethany's parents are truly a work of art. They are shameless as can be. Especially when some things are found out I was just speechless.
I love how Mitch worked through his struggles and the interactions between him and Bethany.
Overall, this book was short and sweet (I would not have minded reading more about them).

Wow!

I was as enthralled with this story as with the previous books in the "Shades of Blue " series. I must say this is the first time I've read an entire series in it's entirety, back to back. Hildie McQueen is a top quality author. Also for the first time, I will send her a personal email to tell she has another fan.

You'll fall in love with Bethany Jones and Mitch Banks in this story. Mitch is all about responsibilities but he loves his whiskey. Bethany wants to reconnect with her parents but they only want her money. It's wonderful to finally see Mitch coming into his own and maybe getting his perfect future. Another enjoyable read in the Shades of Blue series.

Easy Read

Easy reading for short flights. The books are not very lengthy and are family friendly. Which is very difficult to find these days. I appreciate the fact I can read a book next to my grandchildren and not worry about what they may see.

Love This Series

This is my second time reading this series. The problem Mitch had with alcohol is a problem people struggle with. The book addressed the problem in a very positive way. There is a Happy ending for another resident of Alders Gulch.

Lovely story!

I really liked the book, Mitch deserved a HEA for himself! I do wish there had been an epilogue telling what happened to Bethany's parents. Wonderful read!

Great story..

Oh what a wonderful story... The characters were a delightful pair of romantic love birds, they did a humorous bit of shuffling though the story.

This book follows the others in series. More detail is needed for smoother plot. Mitch is annoying but has happy ending.

Great Novella! Even though this book is a novella, it has a great story and includes a lot in such a short time. Mitch is the shopkeeper and owner of the mercantile, he dreams of selling so he works the land. He first meets Bethany, when he sees her taking pictures and falls. Mitch is instantly attracted to Bethany and he starts to question his fate and his dependency on alcohol especially since Bethany tells him he drinks too much. Bethany makes a trip west with her parents hoping to become closer to them since they did not raise her. She is a photographer and has got a job taking pictures of the west. Bethany finds out that her parents, especially her father have not been honest with her. She must now find out the truth about her parents. She must also fight for her future with Mitch.
A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

I've never seen 2 people that are meant for each other as these two are. I was so happy that Mitch found happiness. He carried a heavy burden & never seemed to get to live his life. The alcohol kept him carrying a burden. Thank goodness a good woman was just the cure he needed. Thankfully our heroine had a loving grandmother to raise her. Now she finds real love & can begin a family of her own
