Rate this book
A children's book teaching children that while MORE may look better, sometimes LESS is just right. There are lions, and tigers, and bears Oh my! It's sure to be a howling good time for the animal lover in your pack! " This book although a fun rhyme fiction book has a large variety of unexpected animals that sparked her interest" -C.T." The illustrations are excellent and full of funny details that keep kids engaged. It was a fun read!" - Kevin Woram" The book was filled with so many animals that children might even learn a few new animal names from reading this story" - Charity

This is a funny rhyming picture book that explores what happens when you take on too many pets. The illustrations are really great and the story will tickle children's funny bone. All in all, an entertaining read that I think children will enjoy.

Maybe One Pet Is Plenty?

Asher Jones won 3rd place in a grade school limerick contest, and the Problem with Pets continues his rhyming trend. You need to read aloud to appreciate the surprising, imaginative, improbable rhymes from an unnamed middle school age (or younger?) blonde urban dude who quickly takes us through the many reasons too many pets never was a good idea to start out with. In real life maybe he only ever had one pet since that was what mom and dad advised, but rhyming through pet pictures and characteristics is a good way to enjoy words, make up rhymes, and not worry too much about the literary outcome.

I love the idea of starting the book with activity questions to do as you read or someone reads to you. So your parent or guardian, grandparent or sitter doesn't go too crazy trying to count accurately, you can find the answers at the end. Very cute, bright, appealing very urban illustrations, too.

The Problem with Pets is in all caps italic, "slanty writing," as a former coworker would have called it. It's easy enough and large enough to read, but sets a poor precedent for kids creating their own books and is a bit too in your face. Most likely I would have used a different, more readable typeface in sentence case throughout. All in all, an excellent addition to your kid's or your kids' library of short before bed books.

I was going be nice and NOT write a review until a butt hurt author me a wrote rude message on goodreads.
I had saw this browsing free children ebooks on amazon to read with my daughter.
It didn't hold her interest and I prefer education books that won't
confuse my daughter on the real behavior of animals.
If you looking for something silly to pass time then this is the right for you but It wasn't something I personally enjoy nor did my child.

I read this book to my nephew and he loved it! He is really into animals and trains at the moment.. what four year old isn't? We both really enjoyed the rhyme and illustrations. Problem With Pets is very funny and the illustrations are awesome. We both laughed at several parts of this story, especially when the young boy's fish couldn't hold his breath under water, lol. He was wearing an oxygen mask which I thought was hilarious. I can see myself reading this book to my nephew often!
