***Note*** This book is the third compilation of a serial story and therefore does not have a conclusion. This is not a survivalist story.
New friendships will be forged, answers will be found, and lives will be lost as the survivors journey deeper into unfamiliar and treacherous areas. With new dangers arising every day, they find themselves faced with only one conclusion; sometimes the end of everything they know is just the beginning of something more.
***Due to language and graphic content this book is recommended for readers 17 and older.

The last couple chapters of this book had me on edge. I really thought a couple people were going to be goners! I still enjoy the fact we don't know what happened and why there are these super human zombie people running around and why there are "the lost ones". I really cannot wait to read the next book to find out exactly what happened. Has God really forsaken them or was it an alien invasion?! I'm starting to get more and more attached to these people. I feel like I am trying to survive with them.
I love this series. With each book you really get to know the characters and you find yourself rooting for all of them to make it, despite some being a pain in the ass. Brace yourself for some losses because life isn't always pretty. I've even caught myself sitting on the edge of my seat, chewing on my nails (not my style at all) through some moments. Already started following the blog for the next one.
I seem to have a weakness for zombie stories these days and the first book of this series was free to me (and the rest were dirt cheap). The series interested me enough to finish all four books, but I would hesitate to recommend them. I think the books suffered from the serialized nature of their first publication. I think the series could have used at least one more rewrite. The meandering quality of the four books could have used some cutting. It seemed like the whole thing could've been transformed into a tight single novel or perhaps two. Lots of repetitive scenes and descriptions. Except for a couple characters, many of the characters were difficult to differentiate. Way too often the characters wanted to do something sensible, but were stopped by a "bad feeling". I really disliked the end of the series too.
Thus far, this story has become a bit stagnate and repetitive, but I still have hope. The 'zombies' are predictable. Therefore, the story has that same feel. I will continue to read simply because I'm too invested in the characters now to stop. I have to know how it ends.
The storyline is bold and emotional. It is a story of what happens to the characters in this novel that I find so intense. It is a study in the way we all deal with stress, survival, death and life. The talented author shows the reader the good the bad and the ugliest of humanity. I have been reading this series one after the other. It has strong believable characters set in an apocalyptic world. The first book was about the start of the end of the world. It has earthquakes and armed persons trying to control the masses who were still alive after the craziness of the day. The second book introduced the added threats the band on people who were thrown together by fate must add to their growing list of things to deal with. It is this collection of people and their emotional, physically and mentally draining stories that kept me on the edge of my seat. By this the third book, I am vested in these people. I can feel their sorrow and fear as I continued to read this epic tale. I have and would recommend these books to anyone who loves to read about survival, action, adventure and raw emotions. I will be reading book 4 and will be reading more books by this author as I find her talented tales very gripping.
More trying to find refuge, more zombie-like things, more death and destruction. As in the first two books the characters are done well and the difficulty, almost impossibility of surviving is realistic. Two more things have me asking questions, though. The temperature seems to have gone up considerably but again no explanation is given. Also, the sky is described as red colored. If the volcanic and earthquake activity had been spread over the whole country and not just the eastern coast then the sky would be dark due to ash being carried from the western part of the U.S. I'm also still wondering about the over-long eclipse (from the first book.) Did the moon somehow stop moving and then start moving again?
Has something happened to the sun? Was there some kind of coronal mass ejection? Also, considering that no matter where the survivors go they find the zombie-like beings whatever caused the pseudo-zombies to become pseudo-zombies had to affected a wide area all at one time. Was it some kind of asteroid/meteor that traveled through the atmosphere leaving behind some kind of space-germ?
I hope the last book deals with some of these issues.
This book was another good eddition to the series! Cant believe im almost finished it.
Most of the book felt very repetitive. They followed a similar pattern daily and it soon became very predictable what was going to go down. However the last few chapters for me made up for everything. It was such a great ending, got the emotions going and really made you feel something! Starting to really love the characters and feel like their emotions are very accurate. A few times I felt like they would have done something different than they did but still amazing.
This interesting tale of a handful of survivors trying to continue their survival is captivating. I have read some similar stories before like The Stand by Stephen King and Lucifer’s Hammer by Niven & Pournelle (spelling?). Maybe even Lord of the Flies by Golding. To wit, life is good, maybe. Disaster strikes (germs, Nature, plane crash), some survive - some of whom will try to create a civilization in a new world whilst struggling against evil, what will their new life be like?
This is the third book in The Survivor Chronicles. It reads well and the characters do things in a manner which is believable, which is an important feature for any book no matter what genre. Not to spoil it for anyone but you will often find the difficulty the characters have to face overwhelming.
It is interesting to watch how each character changes over time. I suggest reading the first books in the series so you too can see this change coming over them. Well worth the read, and my thanks to the author.
This book was too much the same. With the exception of one of the characters turning into a jerk under stress, most of the book is about trying to survive the “zombies “ created by the horrific natural events they survived. I love most of the characters. The circumstances are dreadful but the careless that lead to the death of one of their own doesn’t ring true. I’m reading the last book because it finishes the series. There’s still much I like in it. But I’m hoping for better in the next book.
I'm enjoying this series. It's over the top. The zombies are sometimes fast and sometimes slow, which doesn't really make sense, but sure gets your blood pressure pumping. The protagonists are interesting and likable. New people that are brought into the plot aren't developed very well though. And, truly, these people do really stupid things over and over again, taking chances with those scary zombies. But then, I guess that's what makes these books so fun to read. Somehow they make it through because they're survivors.
I really enjoyed this third book in the series, but I had to deduct stars for the repetitive nature of the scenes (good guys get attacked by bad guys, rinse and repeat). And a little too much padding in places. Four paragraphs to describe the group disembarking from the truck? Books 2 & 3 could have easily been combined into one, and I think the impact would have been stronger. But still, a very good yarn, and I must read the final in the series to see how it ends . . .
I am so into this series. I find myself staying up too late, and waking up early to finish it. The author has a way of making the characters so real and either very likable or you can't stand them (in a good way). This is not a "Walking Dead" series in that it has its own storyline and differences, but I have found myself invested in the characters as in Walking Dead. I will be sad when its over, and hope there are more books to follow. 5 stars and then some!
Erica Stevens is a wonderful writer. This story about friendship, survival and loss. I have read Erica Stevens books and have loved them all. But, for some reason this series has got me turning pages and getting the next book as soon as I'm finished. You become a member of the group feeling there heartache and loss. You cheer for them and cry with them. On to the next and last book of the series.
I like the story but it was dragging along. I was tempted to start skipping through but was scared I'd miss something. Not much happened til the end and it was sad but then everyone won't make it. I'm just sorry for the one who didn't. I'm wondering if they'll get to their destination and if they do, will it be any better? This story's got me connected to the characters and hoping they make it to a safe place so I'll definitely be reading on.
I like the characters, I like the story, but this was 'The Divide' all over again. I felt like the exact same things happened, but in different locations. I scanned through most of this book because it was highly repetitive in plot and inner monologues. I wouldn't normally give up on a series with one book remaining, but I have no interest to read the last book in this series; I think I'll just grab the summary and spoiler reviews because I have a pretty good idea of how it's going to pan out.
I loved reading this book . Reading this series is a unique experience to me unlike any other books I have read until now. I have never read post apocalyptic stories yet.
This book was realistic with people filled with fear and apprehension but also with hope , expectations and heartache from losing beloved characters. The death and destruction continues and the journey is filled with the usual dangers of living in a crazed world full of loony flesh eating creatures.
A page turning, incredibly, emotional written story. As the group travels the treacherous roads filled with the sick and natural or unnatural catastrophes emotions run high and options are few. Keep going, get supplies and stay alive. Allies are few and far between. Great story......5 stars all the way!
This is the third book in this series. I am going to purchase and read the fourth one. I love the characters in this book and how they pull together as a family. As you read you just wish there was a little break from the action for them and for the reader. Overall a good read.
Another fantastic book from Erica Stevens. Book three of the saga did not disappoint. Well written, easy to read and fast paced storyline. Characters are brilliant, feel as if I know them. Highly recommend this series.
I took awhile to read book 3. I listened to 1 and 2, got hooked. Heading for 4 now. Can't wait to see how she ENDS Peter's life!!! As you can see I definitely invested in the characters.
This series keeps getting better & better. Love the story line. It's definitely a page turner cause you never know what's going to happen. I just couldn't put it down. Now, about to read the final book. Looking forward to the read!!!
