JILLIAN
It had always been clear to me that we had different songs playing in our heads. My music was usually more of a death metal battle march that involved a lot of blood being spilt. Dom’s…oh Dom’s music was something that a romantic Irish poet would listen to, whatever the fuck that might be. He was a warrior, but I’d always known he had a poet’s soul. There could be no denying that it was one of the things I loved most about him. Still, it had always made everything hard. It was so hard to be the other half of someone’s perfect love story when you were as imperfect as me. I’d always known I’d fuck it all up. It had only been a matter of time.
DOM
It had always been as clear as day to me that it was fate that brought us together. Our love was written in the stars as clearly as ink on paper, but I knew she couldn’t read it. She was no star gazer. And certainly no dream chaser. Her feet were planted too firmly on the ground.
R.K. Lilley has been a writer since she can remember, but has held down some interesting jobs to pay the bills. For several years she was a first class flight attendant, and she always swore that she just had to write a book about it. Mixing her love of romance and all things BDSM, the Up In the Air Trilogy is her debut into the world of contempary romance and erotica. She is currently working on the final installment in the series. You can contact R.K. at Authorrklilley@gmail.com Visit her Facebook page to keep up-to-date on what she's working on
I never rate a book before it comes out but I did because of the author. It has been about six years since she published the first book and ended it with a massive cliffhanger. Many of us have been waiting and listening to her while she claims that it is the next one on the release list but she has released several books before then. I even logged on to twitter to see if she has put out any news about the book to find out that she is writing a standalone. This author does not seem to care about her fans. Mrs.Lilley has officially lost me as a fan. Mrs. Lilley, You cannot leave a cliffhanger in a book then leave it for several years; that clearly shows that you have little regard for us(your fans).
I give up on book 2 and I give up on R.K Lilley. It’s time to face it..she’s obviously given up on this series. She’s an excellent writer but she is unreliable. She continued to give release dates that she obviously doesn’t intend to follow through with while continuing on with other series & new releases. Like damn at least give your fans an update or something or better yet tell your fans your putting the book on hold for a while or that you don’t plan to continue with this series.
Here are the new covers for Breathing Fire and Crossing fire. Breathing Fire is out now and ON SALE for a limited time, and Crossing Fire will be released on 8/1/23.
This series is a terribly romantic contemporary fantasy and it’s close to my heart.
It has a bit of everything I love.
Heart-wrenching, fucked up, eternal love✔️
An epic second-chance romance✔️
Flawed, lovable characters✔️
Action, adventure and angst✔️
Humor and warmth✔️
Fantasy and magic✔️
And, of course, dragons✔️
It’s a great time to start the series as the second book (no cliffhangers) is finally, at last coming out.
Absolutely horrible how this author completely disregards their fans and readers, over 6 years of delay for the release of a book, and moreover the pure radio silence on why the delay is happening is aggravating. Authors may not be obligated to write and publish books, but there is at least a moral obligation to update readers and come through with their promises. Rating this 1 star because this author is unreliable and after these many years frankly, I'm over it. Goodluck to anyone waiting for it, I hope you survive long enough to actually read it.
SHE PUBLISHED IT BUT DIDN'T TELL ANYONE??? bro. Bro. I searched her Instagram to see if she even had a page and dm her about this when the first thing i see is her announcing LAST YEAR the release of this book. She just never updated goodreads for some reason?????????? Fucked up honestly
I really enjoy her writing and really liked this, i was a little let down tbh cuz i expected more romance in this since they reconciled. I think the author got a little too lost in the plot, adding too many details and stories that we didn't really need (and in the end she barely explored anything just wrapping it up quickly, felt unfinished). From what i gathered she isn't planning on writing more books on this so we'll just proceed without knowing the end of a bunch of plots (spoilers: what's up with the vampires? Whos leaking druids secrets? Whats that freaking grove monster? What was she gifted in the epilogue? Where is her father? Wheres the rest of her clan? What will happen to dom? Will he really give up on being arch? How will that go? What's up with the phoenix, the unicorn and half angel? Were they really just casually mentioned just bcuz? We didn't get a single scene with baby Conan... What was the purpode of spending the last tenth of the book torturing her? Like it literally added nothing to the plot just made her suffer and gave us less moments with Dom. If the author wanted to get rid of helen there were easier ways. A big part of the plot was the sister's eyes, but it was all solved when she was unconscious... Btw what's up with the Chinese clan? I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS.
I wish there was less fantasy and more romance, cuz in the end u either do one very well or both half assed. Like my man Dom was SO IN LOVE and i don't think it was explored enough. Also what was with the half explicit scenes? Cmon rilley i know u can write sex, why were u starting and then fading to black?
But don't get me wrong, i still enjoyed this a lot. I think theyre a great couple and im just hungry for more.
I absolutely loved the first book and was looking forward to reading the second. I’m honestly disappointed in the author because if you write a book with a cliffhanger and can’t follow through...what was the point in writing it in the first place? I understand romance is a higher paid genre than urban fantasy but as an author writing a new series, you made a unspoken promise to your fans. I’m glad a release date is no longer available to see because you keep getting people’s hopes up each year to only further disappoint. It’s been over 6 years, don’t say it’s next on your list of things to-do when that statement is obviously bullshit. I’d appreciate honesty over what you’ve given us. I have massive respect for your creativity and willingness to share your characters with the world; the books I have read have been really good. I think this book would have been amazing, but sadly I won’t be reading it. You’ve lost another fan...
DNF at 25% because apparently their telepathic baby is all knowing and all seeing and it hasn't even been born yet. This baby literally tells his parents where to go, what to do, and how to do it within the first 25% of the novel.
I was so pleasantly surprised to discover this book was released. I had given up, and was shocked to discover it was out a year ago. I really enjoyed book 1 (even though on a re-read the characters did annoy me at times). I did enjoy book 2 a lot and didn't want to put it down. [Small gripes: Caleb and Christian are even more irritating in this one, for different reasons and her sister subplot continues to waste time]. Loved the romance, and it was so nice to see Dom and Jillian actually together and happy. There were a few issues, like the weird baby-egg storyline, that's put on the back-burner at the beginning and then is never resolved. There are a couple of subplots that are left open. The worst part of this book was the epilogue. It like the author was told, "quick, wrap it up, you only have one chapter left". That epilogue was so rushed and briefly addressed so many things, but not in a satisfactory way. I really wish we got a longer book so the author could take her time finishing up this duet. But I am really happy we got this ending. What a treat.
After all this time, well over a decade after of waiting, this book pops up out of nowhere. I was one of the few that hadn’t given up all hope of its release. Now that I’ve read it, I wish I was still waiting.
It’s been a long time since reading (and re-reading) the first book, so I know my reading tastes have changed. That being said, I don’t think the old me would have enjoyed this much either.
Small spurts of action between a lot of filler, and honestly, some of the action scenes felt like filler too. The part that really killed it for me was how most of the loose ends were wrapped up so quickly, sometimes even being explained in conversation by the MCs instead of playing out. Why not include this in the plot instead of the fluffy filler we got throughout the book?
I gave it two stars because there were definitely some good chapters worth reading, reminding me why I liked this series, but definitely not enough after such a long wait.
This book was just off… like unfinished? A bunch of random ideas with no real flow between them. Which is saying something as it took the author years and years to write the sequel. So many plot holes, random events with no purpose. Random side characters that didn’t even need to be in the story. Really a lackluster love story, that was mostly creepy stalker but also lost puppy. Like why was the MFC giving her blood away for lame memories of a teenager, what happened with her giving a crap ton of blood? Why did the sister random loose her eyes and her dad kept them on a shelf? Why was the sister even a character in this series? Why did we have organ harvesters at the last bit of the book with no other relation to anything that then got solved after a chapter? Why do dragons have a 12 year gestation period and she didn’t know she was pregnant only to birth a talking egg that still didn’t wanna be born? Why why why? What is this story?
~*~ Audiobook Review ~*~ I've been waiting for this book release in audio for a long time, and I'm so glad that R.K. Lilley chose these narrators! I did enjoy book 1, but got stuck a bit on the narrator. This book with Summer Morton and Robert Hatchet was whole new game. I really got lost in the story with this feisty, strong female character and the powerful druid male who is her mate. There is a lot of action, excitement, scheming, and of course the steamy romantic connection between them. Really enjoyed this book!!
It was a long wait but worth every moment! A fantastic ending to an unusual love story. I have read everything this author has wrote. This was a fantasy story with beautiful imagery, a sexy steamy couple and a love story that touched my heart. Our heroine was strong but had trouble believing she deserved love. Our hero was my favorite alpha type who loved furiously. Can't wait for more from RK Lilley and possibly more fantasy.
One of my favourite reads this year! I’ve been waiting a few years for this release but it was all worth the wait as R.K.Lilley brought out yet another 5 star hit! Highly recommend you read Breathing Fire before starting so you understand the plot. Perfect for dragon shifter romance readers 🐉
Know that this story is marked as completed but hope R.K decides to write more from this world.
