You've fallen in love with three Wellingtons, but it's time to go back to where it all began.

It's the summer of 1980, and much of the South is plagued with a sweltering heat wave. To get over a bitter breakup and find some much-needed cooling down, Amelia Halloway escapes the city to spend the next three months at her grandparent's secluded lake house. Even though she craves the isolation, it doesn't last long thanks to an irritatingly handsome intruder.

The man from across the lake; the cocky, arrogant, and completely irresistible Knox Wellington-- one who isn't used to hearing the word no. She's running; he's chasing, and it's one hell of a relay. Inevitably, as most Wellingtons do, he breaks down her barriers and raises her temperature higher than any heat index could. They embark on a carefree, no strings affair that intensifies the flames of their passion with every passing day.

What's meant to be a summer fling turns into so much more, but even the harshest of infernos eventually burn out, leaving nothing but ashes and destruction in its wake.

Life may tear them apart, but even hundreds of miles away and months apart, Knox can't forget the beautiful brunette who set his soul on fire, consuming his every waking thought until he has to seek her out. When he returns, he's in for the surprise of his life.

About to face the ultimate test, Knox has to decide... can he stand the heat?

You may know the ending, but the journey is one wild ride.

I was so adamant that I was going to re-read the first books in this series. Because when I read the last one two years ago I couldn't remember a thing about the previous books that I had read four years previously. But unfortunately time got away from me and I didn't get to it.

Obviously I have enjoyed this series and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes her heroes on the alpha side with a hint of insta love. And they can all be read as standalones because my goldfish memory definitely doesn't remember the finer details of the books I read in 2014.

Knox and Amelia's story was a really fun, sweet read. And even though I kind of knew how it was going to play out it still kept me on the edge of my seat trying to guess what was going to happen next.

The whole book was hot as hell. And I loved watching them both fall in love and fight falling in love at the same time. Everything about this story was great and I really wish I'd had the time to read the other three before it.

This is the story that started them all. The Wellington men love hard and work hard, and they learned it all from their father. This is Knox Jr and Amelia’s story.

Amelia hasn’t been back to her family’s favorite vacation spot since the accident that took the lives of both her parents. But a summer at the lake may be just what she needs to begin to move on. Knox is all work: both in school and learning the ropes of the family business. His mom forces him to take a summer to renovate an investment property, to take a break from the business. Neither anticipates meeting anyone so early in the summer, but the distraction is exactly what they are both looking for. When the distraction shifts to deeper feelings, they struggle to maintain the light no-future promise they made on that first night.

These two just work together. Their chance meeting turns into an opportunity to have some fun, but as they try to keep it light they struggle to not get in too deep. I loved watching them figure out how to keep things light despite the building feelings. And once they realized they couldn’t fight the feelings, there were other challenges in the mix as well.

It took me a bit to get my head into this story because it has been a while since I’ve been inside the Wellington world. But as bits and pieces of their children’s story came back to me I was intrigued to see these younger versions of Knox and Amelia. I am a little young for the 80s references to have triggered nostalgia, so at times they were great for setting the time period but other times they had me questioning what something or a reference was about.

I loved the last half of the book. Things really started picking up for me when their summer situation changed and they found themselves alone again. The events in that last third were even better and had me racing to the end to find how the prologue would play out in the present and to see how they would patch things up to get to the point where they had 3 children and 40 years of marriage.

It was fun to see where this family began, and to get to know Knox before the pressures of running the family business changed him into the man who became.

"When a Wellington man knows, he knows."

We have read the stories of the Wellington sons, but this takes it back to the summer of 1980 and the story of their parents...

Amelia is heading back to her family's summer home in Crystal Cove for the first time in four years. She had not been back due to sad memories, but was encouraged to take a break and recharge with her old friends.

Knox Wellington II is a young work-a-holic, business-man-in-training, and has been ordered to take the summer off before finishing his degree and taking on more responsibility at the family company. He is just supposed to help fix up an investment property and relax.

One random meeting and the chase is on. Knox is charming, bold, and cocky. He is a cynic about love and is not looking for anything more than a summer fling. Amelia is sassy, sweet, and in the mood for some summer fun. And boy do they indulge in sand, sun, and oh so many sexy times.

They both agree it cannot be anything more than a no-strings fling and has to end when summer does. They have their futures all planned out. They both have internally warned themselves and each other about not falling or getting attached. But sometimes life cannot be controlled.

This is a sweet, steamy, unexpected-affair-leads-to-life-changes story. The present prologue pulled me in right away, and then we flashback to see how everything happened in the past, and then it loops back into the present. I will admit that in especially in the first part, it felt a bit long as it seemed to focus on the frolicking and sexy times over and over. But it could have been me being distractible too. I enjoyed the last part more.

I loved Knox and Amelia together. They really just fit without even trying (while actually trying to resist something real) and they definitely had great banter and chemistry. Despite his denial, Knox might just be experiencing that "Wellington way" himself. I enjoyed her friends Sunny, Joe, Sam, and his brother, Clay. They added fun and support for these two that were sometimes living in denial.

We already knew how some of their story goes, but we did not really know the full account and ending until now. I enjoyed catching up again with the Wellington boys, Knox III, Branson, and Cohen, and their wives in present-day as well. It brings it all full circle and ties up all of their stories well.

It has been almost 2 years since we've heard from the Wellingtons, and with this release (which I believe is the last in the series), the author is taking the reader back in time. Where it all started with Knox II and Amelia. the parents of Branson, Knox III, and Cohen.

The author took an unusual approach adding this book last, as typically I read about the parents first, and then the stories for their offspring follow. But the way this story was written, it made a lot of sense, focusing on how Knox and Amelia first met during their wild summer together, and how something that was deemed to be "just for fun", evolved into something neither could ignore. Then in the present, it reconnected us with their children to update the reader on their own love lives.

If you've read the previous books in the story, you know all about the Wellington Way, but I'll refresh your memory. This family appears to have a very romantic history, as all of the men in the family fall hard when they meet THE ONE.

"When a Wellington man knows, he knows."

When Knox and Amelia meet in Crystal Cove one summer, the attraction is immediate. Sure, they play a little cat and mouse, but I liked that they didn't really waste time in making a move on one another. They agreed that this would just be a fun summer fling. As a reader, we know that agreement is bullcrap, but it was fun watching them present that it was just about sex.

There are a couple unexpected events that change the course of their relationship, and while I didn't exactly agree with how they handled things, it made for a good story to tell the kids. Yes, given that this is the last book in the series, but the first romance for the family, it is clear how things turn out, but it was a sweet and sexy ride.

If you are a fan of this series, this was a great addition and a nice way to wrap everything up in a bow.

Spending time at the vacation time that is owned by Amelia’s family may be the opportunity to remember her happy memories there rather than the sad ones that have seemed to take over. She isn’t looking for love or a relationship and she definitely isn’t looking for a flirtation but there is something about Knox that is hard to ignore.

Knox is a man who is driven and focused on his career but first he is going to enjoy the summer along with whatever it may bring. Amelia is exactly the diversion that he needs, and it doesn’t take long for things to heat up between them but what happens when the summer comes to an end?

Amelia and Knox weren’t prepared for the effect they would have on each other but sometimes the best things in life happen when you least expect it.

I couldn't get into this.
I wasn't keen n the Hero or the writing style.
They have a summer fling, both deny to themselves that it feels like more.
He leaves, she discovers she's pregnant.
She writes to his family business but the letter goes awry.
He return to declare his live for her and she's just had the baby.
It was okay but I wouldn't reread.
No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine.
Non man-whore type Hero, he's had one steady girlfriend before.
Noone else during separation.
HEA.

Love love loved it!

No cliffhanger
Standalone though book 4 in a larger family series
Told from multiple POVs (2 main characters and later their children)
Editing errors throughout. Could use another round of editing for sure.

I have loved this entire series and I love even more that it went back in time to show the love story of the boys parents. I did have to remind myself a few times it took place in the 80s though lol.

Knox and Amelia meet during a summer they are both spending at a lake. They set out for a summer fling and make rules to not fall in love with each other. Most of the book is in the past, showing how their love story started, but towards the end it flashes back to current day. I don’t want to give too much away but this book is the perfect mix of smoking hot chemistry, banter, angst and love.

The only thing that bothered me a bit was how dang stubborn they both were, but if you have read the prior 3 books about their sons, you knew they had to get it from somewhere. Ha!

This book made me want to re-read the entire series. Love the Wellingtons so much!

One side note, we never do find out Amelia’s maiden name, and for some reason that just dawned on me. Before you read the book this means nothing to you, but after, you might find it funny like me.

I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed well and I was able to stay connected and interested throughout the book. The story has laughs, pain, twists & turns, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Ignite (Explosive, #1)
Incinerate (Explosive, #2)
Inflame (Explosive, #3)
Intoxicate (Explosive, #4)
Fusion (Explosive #5)
Combust (The Wellingtons, #1)
Conflagration (The Wellingtons, #2)
Conflict (The Wellingtons #3)

This is Amelia and Knox’s story. Amelia is spending some downtime at her grandparent’s secluded lake house. What she never thought she would come across was an arrogant neighbor that would make her want things. She should be fine after her breakup she built walls around her heart. What she never expected was for Knox to tear them down so fast. They are in a no strings affair, but heartbreak is upon them. When life happens, they must go their own way, but the pull is strong. Can they have a future? They need to try after all they are missing each other bad.

I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book and this author.

I’m waited so patiently for this book so when it popped up ok my kindle I was so damn excited!!! We finally get Amelia and Knox II story!!! When we first Amelia and Knox II in the first Wellington brothers book about Knox jr and we knew their love was strong, now we get to go back to where it all began.

Amelia needed to get away so she decided to go to her grandparents lake house for the summer, there she meets Knox. We finally see where where all the Wellington boys get their alphaness!

Amelia does want to like Knox but he breaks down her barriers and when she finally gives in, lord do these pages feel like fire! This book as that classic Tessa Teevan steam and heat and it was 1000% worth the wait!!

The ending of this book clinched it for me! We get the catch up with with present day and see how all the younger Wellington boys are doing!

I didn't know I needed this book until I read it. I truly enjoyed Knox and Amelia's story..the parents that we already know are married and have 3 kids..but we go back to the start and.see how they meet and what happens in the in-between.
A summer fling that turned to so much more, the struggles and the feelings..
It's a lovely way to acknowledge the parents of men we already love.

I have been excitedly waiting for this book. It most definitely did not disappoint!!!
We met the Wellington Brothers in their own books and saw that their parents had a strong love. This book starts with a very worrisome present day prologue then throws us back in time to experience Knox II and Amelia's love story. A just for the summer romance or at least that's what they planned BUT you know what they say Best Laid Plans.....
We see where the sons got it because dad was very swoonworthy himself!!
I loved every bit of this book especially the final chapters where we got to catch up on the lives of those amazing Wellington boys!!
