This is a phonics focused early reader, with the focus sound -ut. In this story Clifford and his dog friends help a man retrieve his nuts that he sells from a van. Seriously. The story isn’t as cute or as interesting as some of the others in the set.
Each book in this set includes an introduction from Emily Elizabeth who tells what the story is about and introduces three sets of words: words with the focus sound (nut, but, etc), sight words (into…), and “fun” words (back, sack). The “fun” words usually include some that parents or teachers might want to pre teach before the child reads so it’s nice that they are included here. The book includes an illustration and full white page with large text on each set of facing pages. This is nice for children learning to read. It is easy for them to find and follow the text.
