Him:
You would think that because I am a Marine that life isn’t that hard to live. I’d like to tell you that you couldn’t be more wrong. War is hell on earth. I have seen so many things that will haunt me for the rest of my life. No matter how much I try to forget the light fading from someone’s eyes, I cannot. My life is one determined by the mind. I wake up every day to fears of what will trigger the turmoil that sends me into overdrive. My life is depicted by sounds and colors and things that make me less of a man.
Who am I, well I am CPL Blake Johnson. I am a United States Marine and I am living with post-traumatic stress disorder. If it weren’t for Anna, the sunshine in my life things would be much harder than they are.

Her:
Being a cosmetologist is not the easiest job for me, and after losing my best friend to her inner demons. I am bound and determined to not lose the man I love as well. They say in my line of profession you are more than what you claim. You are a therapist, a shrink, a person that listens to anything and everything. I am not that person. I have so much built inside me I think I may be about to explode. I hope that this isn’t true because my heart picked someone that happens to be as inconsolable as I feel.
Who am I? Well, my name is Anna Kleinpeter. I am just trying to live my life one moment at a time and praying that I don’t mess it up.

As I really like reading books about “tortured / wounded Hero’s/soldiers” it was no question at all that I had to read Irreparable (Wounded Souls #1) by Amanda Lanclos as the practically drew me in. And I even have to go a step further… to say that I was so engrossed in the plotline that I directly accompanied this read with the second book of the series Inconsolable (Wounded Souls #2) by Amanda Lanclos.
I can guarantee you that those books will capture you and they will not release you until they are done with you. Amanda Lanclos is a new to me author and I hope I will get to read more books from her that are as well composed as those two.
Her writing style is fluent and flawless and the plotline will stay with you for a long time. Please enjoy this read as much as I did …

This is book two in the series. It's another brilliant read that had me gripped from start to finish.

This is Blake and Anna's story. Blake was saved by Jameson in the explosion that left Jameson injured. He's suffering from PTSD and has hit his lowest. On a trip to see Jameson he meets Anna and everything changes. Their journey certainly isn't easy but I was rooting for them both to find happiness.

Really great story. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

Book 2 goes back and gives us some background from book 1 Irreparable. But from the eyes of Blake Johnson and Anna Henderson. The things that these two go through to make it to the end are heart felt and will bring a tear to your eye. Again the journey of PTSD is real. The ability for Amanda is bring this to life in her words is truly amazing. There are so many soldiers who need to support and love of each of us.

Blake Johnson was always the smart nerdy guy in school. He did not want to follow in his father’s footsteps of being an attorney instead he joined the Marines. He wanted to make his own journey in life. As he is put in the line of fire with the enemy, he is surrounded by a group of friends that he would consider his Marine brothers. But one disastrous day will shake his life to the core. Blake will have to learn to deal with the loss of his brothers and the fact that he is still alive. He owes it all to Jameson for saving his life. He will have to come to terms with why he was saved. Along the way, he loses himself until he runs into a beautiful red haired feisty girl who makes Blake want to become a better person for her.

Anna Henderson has a job right out of school. She is doing what she wants, being a beautician. She is a friend that we all wished we had. She is straight forward and loves completely. Anna is best friends to Mary-Beth. She is the shoulder that Mary-Beth leans on when she is missing her Jameson. But once Jameson comes back from the war a hero and half a man in Mary-Beth’s eyes, the relationship between Anna and Mary-Beth begins to change. Anna starts to see who Mary-Beth really is. She must learn to understand that she can not let Mary-Beth continue to use her. She loves her best friend but the things that Mary-Beth does is wrong.

As Blake and Anna continue on their budding relationship, they soon learn that they miss each other even when they are together. Blake has an attack one evening with Anna. He has to come clean about what is going on with his life. He has to learn to let Anna in to help him with his PTSD. But he feels less of a man admitting that he needs help. But Anna is strong, she is there waiting for him. Once they are able to discuss this, things look so much better for them. They are moving along as any couple should; planning a future together.

Then one night tragedy hit home for Anna. She is devastated. Anna does not know how to continue on. She starts too withdrawn into her self. Blake is there to help her but she has to want to help herself before she is able to ask for help.

Will Anna realize that she needs Blake to help her get over this tragedy? Can Blake be strong enough to wait for Anna? Will the sun shine upon Blake and Anna’s relationship in the end?

Anticipation-most know the song but that is also how it was with this book. When I was given the opportunity to read this you could say I was more than slap happy. I really enjoyed the writing in the first one so knew this one would have to be worth the wait. I quickly opened the pages but made sure nothing would be in my way of reading this wanted no interruptions. The opener is very heart wrenching so I knew I was in for a wringer. Blake is the buddy you read alittle about in the first one but in this one it is now his time to tell his side and get to know him indepth. You are given a closer glimpse of the life they had leading right up to the tragedy with more interaction from the other guys. A Marine is for life but little did he realize that others would give theirs for him and Jameson would give him shelter but the cost his legs. When he stays with him through the hospital time till he is sent back home they both miss the funeral of the others that were with them that gave their life. Good ole Mary Beth she has a friend in here you meet Anna that puts up with her nonsense through thick and thin but is a true friend. She is going into the field of cosmetology doing hair at the local shop. She often fills in for one of the girls who usually has personal problems get in the way of her appointments and that is how you are introduced to Garrett who will also be a important supporting character in this story. Blake is having a hard time adjusting as any marine that has experienced what he has once he is home. This author does one fine job of bringing it home what Blake and many others go thru with Blake later being one of the lucky ones that have caring family that sees he gets a reality check and the help he needs once he accepts it. Alot of drama will happen before these two meet which makes for the meeting even sweeter I think. They start out slow and easy which is so tantalizing in between more insights with Jameson and Mary Beth who later he turns to you know who(better read the first one).Anything worth while you stick with it and these two do just that with each other. Two souls brought together to make a whole I think that will help repair each other. Read how these two carry on and the author builds their relationship that is right just for them. Also though you see the events that lead up to their goodbyes to the ones who lives were given for the closure they needed. Graphic detail also of the horrific event that Anna walks into that is mentioned in first book. Great strides happen that you experience as these two grow together that the epilogue is quite fitting. Received a arc for a honest review.

What can I say ? 5 Stars is not enough for this book.

In book one of the wounded souls series, Irreparable, Amanda
had me falling hard for all her characters. What I didn't know
was it would be Blake and Anna's story that would capture my heart,
break it and put it back together again. It was such a beautifully
written story with such emotion that had me blubbering like a baby.

Anna, a cosmetologist. Strong, independent, caring. She is an absolute
angel. Don't let that fool you though, this red headed beauty will not
hold back when it comes to the ones she loves and isn't afraid to speak
her mind. Something I love about her.

Blake, a Marine. Also strong but isn't your typical male lead. He is emotional,
he wears his heart on his sleeve and it left my heart in a gooey puddle. His
struggle with PTSD is a difficult one, reading his struggles and heartache is
crushing and had me wanting to jump in the pages and hug him.

When fate brings these two people together its a love story like no other. It
had me clutching at my chest and smiling like a school girl, there journey is one
I will not be forgetting in a hurry. Blake's love for Anna helps him realise
he has a problem and needs to get help, if he wanted Anna in his life he had to face
his past, face his fears and boy does it tug at your heart strings. When he confesses
his problems to Anna and he sees that Anna will stand by he side it makes confronting
these problems a little easier.
When tragedy hits and Anna loves her best-friend to her own inner demons Blake is determined
not to let Anna struggle the way he is. Unable to accept her loss and not knowing how to deal
she pushes Blake away, but he won't let that happen either. There is something about a man that
fights for his love *sighs*

Another must read by the amazingly talented Amanda Lanclos.

I beg you to please give it a try. I promise you, you will fall inlove with these characters,
this story and the author just as much as I have and it is a story that will stay with you for
a long time.

You will regret not reading :) .x

This is the second book in this series and is just as fantastic as the first. Both books start the same way and the story is kinda the same in the beginning. The difference is who’s perspective it is from. In this book it is from Blake and Anna’s. Blake was in the same explosion and Jameson and Jameson actually saved him. Blake has PTSD really bad and doesn’t want to get help. His dad and uncle are trying really had to get him to see that if he doesn’t get some help things will just get worse. One day he decides to drive the two hours to go see Jameson and while there he runs into Anna and everything changes. Anna is the sunshine in his darkest days. He wants to change and get better son he can be the man she deserves. Anna is going through things of her own. She is best friends with Mary-Beth. She is realizing how selfish Mary-Beth can be and is tired of being walked all over. She was once friends with Sam but that was just another thing that changed because of Mary-Beth. Now that she has met Blake she doesn’t want to be Mary-Beth’s door mat anymore. She is so happy and Mary-Beth always tries to bring her down with her problems. I love how closely the first book and this book are. I loved Anna in the first book and love her even more in this book. Seeing things from her perspective and then learning more about her was great. I also like learning about the explosion from Blake’s perspective. Learning how he felt and what happened to him was fantastic. I can’t wait to see if there are more books in this series. Hopefully find out more of everyone’s story. These books are fantastic. Well written with a story and characters that just pulled you in.

I was given this book in return for an honest review.

Blake Johnson has seen and been through some awful things in his life. He has dealt with the pressures of war and being a soldier and he has seen just how fast a life can slip away. Blake has been battling PTSD ever since the bombing that took the lives of some of his fellow Marines. He also almost lost his life in that very same bombing. Blake is living in a world of darkness, suffering, and alcohol until he literally runs into a woman that brings the sunshine back into his life.

Anna Henderson is the kind of woman you would be lucky to have for a best friend. She is loyal to the ones she loves, even when they act like an ass and don’t deserve her. She was not really looking for love or a relationship when she ran into Blake that day, but fate had other plans for them. However, a tragic and heartbreaking event pulls the light from Anna’s eyes. She starts retreating from Blake and all her friends. Will the love these two share be enough to pull her back from the darkness, or are some people really inconsolable?????

Amanda Lanclos has another 5 star winner with this book. I fell in love with these characters in her first book so I was more than anxious to read more about all of them in this one. The characters she has created in this series are like real life people, they face real life situations and life is not always rainbows and roses. I am so glad that she is giving us an opportunity to learn more about them by giving all of these awesome characters she has created a chance to tell their own stories. I am eagerly awaiting the next release in this awesome series! These guys may have wounded souls, but they are all still perfect in my eyes!!!

I received a copy to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review. Blake Johnson is consumed by guilt for surviving and losing four Marine brothers and Jameson Carter lost his legs saving him in Afghanistan. Trying to deal with PTSD on his own, Blake thinks he is doing OK. But with every loud noise he is cowering reliving the time in the desert. When he visits Jameson it is hard to get Jameson to not feel guilt because neither of them could save their brothers. Blake meets Anna and he falls for her instantly. Anna has never been in love and she is finding out that loving Blake comes easy to her. Blake knows that Anna is Jameson's friend but doesn't tell him when they start dating. When Blake realizes that he does need help, he has his uncle, who went through the same thing and he does understand what Blake is going through. Blake finds out that having someone to talk to helps a lot. He will almost hit bottom before he lets Anna help him. When Anna goes through something that no one needs to ever see, he has to give her space and let her deal with what she feels. They will be together if they work things out together. I loved the first one, Irreparable, and I didn't think it was possible to love this one more but I did. Great job Amanda, looking forward to reading more from her.

Another great job by the rising star, Amanda Lanclos! She had me drawn into the characters from start to finish!

Inconsolable is the story of Anna & Blake. They "run into" each other, literally & felt the connection right then! We know from the 1st book that Blake was saved by Jameson when they were deployed & Anna is Mary Beth's bff. It was written during the same time period as the 1st one so a lot of stuff was already touched on & repeated from book 1 but a lot more detail in understanding the characters. I liked how we still got to know & hear from everyone!

Blake's journey is one of living in a world after war! A world of PTSD, substance abuse to cover the pain & love & determination to be a better person for those he loves! I was nice to see Blake grow into this man that any girl would love to have & Anna was very appreciative!

Anna's journey started off pretty easy! Her biggest deal was dealing with Mary Beth & her rude obnoxious self! Anna was always left holding the pieces & trying to fix the damage made by her bff. Tragedy strikes again leaving Anna in the same shocked state that Blake worked hard to get past!

Can Anna pull herself out of this devastation? Read along to follow Blake & Anna's journey along with the other friends in the group! Great job!!

Blake Johnson has been through some awful things in his life including being in Iraq and seeing some of his buddies dying. He comes back and suffers from PTSD and tries to hide from his family and friends. He doesn't want anyone to help him and just wants to shut himself away. Until he meets Anna, who becomes his sunshine and makes him want to lice again.

Anna Henderson has her job and her friends. Her best friend doesn't always make her life easy but she is there for her. After a tragic loss in Anna's life she begins to withdraw from her family and friends. It takes time and love for her to know that there is more to life than just the day to day living. With Blake's help she overcomes the tragic loss in her life.

This book was certainly different in the way it was written and the subject matter it contains. It was worth reading to know what people go through in their everyday lives to cope with what has been dealt to them. It was also a great way to show how returning soldiers have to learn to cope with being back in civilian life.

Mrs. Lanclos proves that no matter what life throws at you, no matter how down you get, you are not inconsolable. Readers were treated to a sneak peek of Anna and Blake in Irreparable (book 1 in the Wounded Souls series). In Inconsolable, you find out their deep secrets, pasts, and thoughts. Anna watched her best friend kill herself. Blake was the Marine that Carter saved in Irreparable. Together, they are fun, sweet, and with just enough drama. Blake is so sweet and focused on Anna that you can't help but swoon just a little every time he calls her Sunshine. What I think I liked most about Inconsolable is that the time frame of this book is the same as Irreparable. So, you get to see things through Blake and Anna's eyes which gives you more insight into Sam and Jameson's story, too. Great job, Amanda! I can't wait to see what's next!!

Book 2 in The Wounded Souls Series is Blake and Anna's story. We first meet  Blake in book 1 when he was saved by his best friend Jamison Carter when a bomb exploded while they were serving in Afghanistan as Marines, Jamison lost both his legs and they saw the rest of their group killed. Blake feels guilty that he survived while others didn't, or were injured, he is suffering from Post Trumatic Stress Sydrome but instead of getting the help he needs he turns to drink and sex with women that he doesn't even know, then he meets Anna, Jamison's ex fiancee Mary - Beth's best friend. But when Anna's world is shook by tragedy can they pull each other back to the here and now and both get the life they deserve.

Another amazing read by Amanda Lanclos and I can't wait to see what comes next.

I absolutely loved Anna and Blake's story. You also get the characters from the previous story in this one and get to see what others perspectives were on things that happened in the first book, which was a great addition. Anna has never been in love. She is a sweet girl who became best friends with Mary Beth. Blake is dealing with demons from Afganistan. PTSD has turned his life upside down and he struggles to get a grip on what is now and what was then. When he meets Anna, he wants to become better. He finally seeks out the help that he needs. When Anna witnesses a horrible scene, Blake knows all to well what Anna is going to deal with. However, will Anna let him help her or will she find herself on the same path of destruction her best friend went? I recommend this one! ~Chell

This is book 2 of the Wounded Souls Series, so please read book 1 Irreparable before you start Inconsolable! With that being said, we know get to take a journey into the story of Blake and Anna. Again Lanclos is bring something very real to her story telling, because Blake is the Marine that was saved by his friend Jameson in book one and like Jameson Blake also suffers from PTSD. But in the story of Inconsolable, we get a double dose of characters that are hurting from PTSD, because Anna has it as well from seeing her best friend Mary Beth take her own life.

Blake was always the small nerdy kid growing up. Until he decided to do something about it and start changing how everyone seen him. Always into books and from a prominent family, he never wanted to fall in his dad’s footsteps and become a lawyer. He decided to become a Marine. Unfortunately after one tour in Afghanistan, Blake’s life would be forever changed. Now he feels more like he is living in an eternal hell. And the tiniest noise can trigger an episode, which can make even the strongest man feel like he is suffocating. The only saving grace he sees is his sunshine in the form of Anna. But when is now suffering from the same thing, Blake knows he must try to help himself be the man he was in order to help Anna.

Anna is the type of person that we all wished we had in our lives. She is loyal, kind, caring, and would do just about anything to help her friends. Until the day her best friend Mary Beth took her own life right in front of Anna. Now she has withdrawn in on herself. She is slowly pushing people away without meaning to especially Blake. Now she lives day by day in the hopes of just making it through without trying to alienate everyone around her, but the one person that she wants and loves the most is dealing with his own battle. The question is can they work through their demons and find a way to come back to one another or will the let their demons win the final battle.

For what it's worth, this book is very appropriately titled, because I was inconsolable when i realized that i'd spent three dollars and several hours trying to weather this disaster. From the atrocious grammar to the shoddy character development, the prose was laughable. It's almost as if this book is a revered artifact from a parallel universe where grammar is a forgotten practice, conflict is almost always resolved in the convenience of a few pages, and people interact with each other like they're in a straight-to-DVD writen by a twelve year old.
What I find perhaps most disappointing is the obvious lapse in oversight on the editor's part; in several instances, the writer's thoughts seem unfinished and disorderly. In a particular example I came upon in the thirty-three percent mark of the book, Lanclos wrote, "He glances at me, giving me a curious glance/looks at me with a curious glance." This is obviously a mistake that managed to slip past the judgement of Lanclos and her 'beta' readers.
Grammar aside, Lanclos' character development is elementary and unconvincing. Blake is the insufferable leading male who begins to describe himself and goes on an unexpected tangent, saying, and i quote, "I know that I am not the hottest guy in the world, most redheads aren't. For instance, Shamus from WWE wrestling. That guy is not at all attractive. His money makes him attractive and my military status is what gets it for me."Anna is the ditzy counterpart who suffers from a common tragedy among literary females known as aggressive one-dimensionalism, which is upsetting to see from a female author. The relationship between these characters is stilted and rushed, and the erotic scenes are upsetting. More than anything, I am appalled by the sheer amount of positive reviews this book has received on this website and others. One star, but if I could give zero stars I would.

Review from Abibliophobia Anonymous Book Reviews

4.5 stars

This is the second book in the Wounded Souls series. This is a great series that deals with the effects of war. It doesn't make light of PTSD, or the other wounds these men and women come home with. I'm sure it will open eyes for those that have no connection to anyone in the military. The author does a great job showing what haunts service members. This book could be read as a stand alone, but I highly suggest you read Irreparable first.

We first meet Blake Johnson in Irreparable. He is only alive because Jameson saved him that fateful day in the desert. He doesn't realize he saved Jameson also that very day.

Blake is fsuffering from PTSD. he needs help. he is numbing with alcohol and one night stands. But then he meets his sunshine, Anna. He has to hit rock bottom before he can start to heal. He has to let go of what is haunting him to have a future. Anna is helping.

Anna Henderson grew up with Jameson. She is best friends with Mary Beth. But she is nothing like Mary Beth. Anna is strong, sweet, kind, loving, and caring. I have liked her since the first book. Everything goes great for her with Blake. Then tragedy hits, and she will have to face her own demons now. Blake is there for her, but he knows she has to hit bottom before she will accept help.

The reason for the 4.5 stars instead of 5, is because there are quiet a few parts that are repeated from the first book. This book does take place during the exact same time frame as the previous one. I did find myself skipping over the repeated parts. This is a great book and a series I will continue to read.

I enjoyed that the author chose to tell the same storyline as book 1, but from the POV of two secondary characters in that book. If you haven't read Irreparable, book 1, you can read this one as a standalone. This is the story from another one of Marines who were caught in a dangerous ambush and the aftermath as he struggles to return to his former life.

I didn't feel as strongly about the romance between Blake and Anna as I did with Jameson and Sam (Irreparable). What I did get absorbed in was Blake's PTSD struggle and the way that Uncle Trey (who I hope gets his own story!) helped him. Blake's vulnerability and guilt have him trapped as does the trauma from war. Also realizing that not all get the help they need and not all make it is a sobering thought.

Anna is a good heroine and friend to Mary Beth who left Jameson and tends to stir up trouble. The twist that surprised me in book 1 was something I knew was going to happen in book 2, so that element of surprise was not there. However, having Anna's POV of the incident and her emotional bind was very good. How someone's decision can affect your life negatively and yet finding a way to move on is one of the ways this series has depth as well as a sexy, romantic storyline.

I am still thrilled with Amanda's writing, and I am looking forward to more stories in this series. Who's next? I recommend this for readers wanting to know more about the effects of PTSD on people and the struggle to realize that it can't be ignored or healed on your own.

~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads Review Team~

This is the second book in the Wounded Souls series. You should really read the first book to get the full effect of this book. I loved this book. It deals with not only PTSD but suicide as well. Both issues are very touchy and sensitive and together the impact is even greater. The author has a way of telling the story that you can see both sides of the issues and you feel every ones feelings. We see characters from the first book again as well. The love between Blake and Anna is so sweet and tender. This is an emotional book that was well worth the read.

Characters: The characters were well written and believable.

Sex: yes

Religious: no

Would I recommend to others: yes

More than one book in the series: yes

Genre: Romance

Would I read more by this author: yes

A Fantastic story honoring our wounded warriors

This book does a wonderful job explaining what our warriors go through when they lose their friends and are the ones who come home. I love how Jameson explains to Blake that even though he wished he could have saved everyone in the unit, he saved them. When Anna meets Blake he realizes that she is the one who will save him from his darkness and that she is the love of his life. Even the two ladies, Barbara and Diane and their betting about who owes what money makes the story enjoyable. But it's when Anna has her own personal tragedy that Blake finally gets to show her how much seek help for the loss of her friend this is when your heart just breaks for the both of them. This is another one of those books you won't regret buying.

This is a story about letting others in to help you when you have a hard time working though issues on your own.  We all struggle with pride and sometimes asking for help is the hardest thing possible.  For Blake and Anna this road is a difficult one, but one that needed to happen.  For both to suffer tragedies they needed to seek outside support but the decision to do so is heart of this book.

I love the  characters and found the process to be engaging and heart wrenching at times.

Can't wait for the other stories!
