CR Guiliano has been an avid reader since the tender age of four. She discovered gay erotic romance and was so inspired by the sultry, yet touching romances that she added it to her growing genre of writing. She also writes fantasy, paranormal and scifi.
"I have to quiet the voices in my head somehow." She says with a laugh. Many a night she has been awakened by those voices, only to feverishly write down the gist of their clammering so she can flesh out (sometimes literally lol) the story later at a more respectable hour.
In her spare time, she is a single mother living in the desert of Arizona with her son and a multitude of cats...and one very sweet snake.
As I read CR Guiliano’s short story, Can’t Let Go, I was suspended in a state of high emotion from start to finish. The writing was detailed, yet straightforward, the storyline gripping. And although short, Can’t Let Go was not lacking in poignancy. The characters, Ty and Kanson endure circumstances that too many gay couples have had to suffer, and unfortunately, will continue to suffer; however, Guiliano’s recounting of a familiar theme, was different than many I have read—it was somehow more intense. I am not going to tell you that I didn’t wish it was longer, but sometimes a short story must be just that, brief and, in it’s brevity, quite powerful. Can’t Let Go is a compelling short story about the struggle to seek and hold onto an eternal love. In Can’t Let Go, Guiliano succeeded in putting forth a palpable sense of tension, struggle, and reward. If you find yourself with limited time, but want to experience the satisfying rise and fall of a complete story, I recommend that you check this one out.
Living together is not enough for Kanson Durby. Tired of being Ty Hoffman’s dirty little secret, Kanson decides it’s time to move on.
Can't Let Go is part of the Mixed Tape Series Volume 4. The plot highlights rejection, the emotional rollercoaster of a relationship and the courage needed to go after what your heart truly desires. Kanson was rejected by his homophobic parents; he was not even allowed to see his siblings. Kanson survived his parent’s rebuff, but dreaded Ty’s reaction to his news. Ty also dealt with parental rejection but for a different reason. Ty was pleased when he discovered Kanson was gay, yet Ty was not brave enough to come out of the closet himself without being forced.
CR Guiliano has created an emotional as well as an enjoyably heartrending short story.
