Raven Pierce vowed to escape the hot and humid climate of Missouri and never look back. After completing her graduate program, she drags her sun-loving, winter-hating best friend to start a new life in Minnesota with its cold crisp air and blankets of snow. Raven’s main focus is her new career and truly establishing her own identity. The last thing she intends to do as she is building a new life is to fall in love. As her luck would have it, one evening a minor accident sends Mr. Tall-Dark-and-Handsome to her rescue. What starts out as the perfect relationship begins to turn challenging when tragedy strikes and pulls her grief-stricken boyfriend into a dark and unpredictable frame of mind. As a psychologist, it is Raven's job to help her patients navigate through their own emotional journeys and she's very good at it. However, when it comes to her own life, her feelings for this new man combined with the unforeseen affliction leave her feeling frustrated and emotionally exhausted. Raven finds herself fighting for love in an unfamiliar, confusing, and sometimes dark terrain.
Nicky grew up in a small town in the Midwest, where she still resides. She has her Masters in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and uses those skills working in Human Resources for a prestigious financial institution. Juggling between family, work, and writing, she stays very busy; never a dull moment. Writing has always been a passion and talent of hers. Her mother was also a writer, but of poetry. Nicky has written her fair share of poems, but the idea of writing a novel is what truly tugged at her heart strings. She has written two novels, Raven's Innocence and Raven's Undoing, which are part of her Snowhaven Series. This very talented author of Romantic Thrillers will pull you into her stories and leave you with jolting conclusions that has you craving more.
This one pulls you in from the start. I've had this book on my Kindle for a little over a year. I decided to get some of the books read that just kept getting pushed aside for "new-shiny".... I'm easily distracted. I thought this was good. I went into it blind I didn't know if it was a romantic type novel or dark thriller and I'm still not sure lol. Fast paced. I give one whole star just for character names....perfect!! I will say the sexual inuindos between the two BF seems un- realistic. I mean yes we women compliment each other and joke around but that just seemed ...extra.... idk. Over all I want to know what happened and figure out WTH is going on.....I will continue
I love writing reviews for debut novels/books. This is probably the most exciting and nerve-racking time for a new author. Honesty is important.
I am thrilled to have been part of this experience for Nicky. Receiving your ARC and waiting vicariously with you for your book to go live was a new experience for me as well.
Your first book Raven’s Innocence was a spectacular debut. I enjoyed your story. Raven, your main character is well written and extremely likable. Grant, while complicated had an interesting dark side. He turns out to be quite mercurial and unpredictable. Your story touched on my emotions and was funny as well. There was a perfect balance. I love the relationship that Raven and her best friend Kat share. Their friendly banter makes reading about them entertaining. The story kept me interested and the ending was unexpected. I am really looking forward to the next book. I also hope to get more of Kat and Asher in the next book.
Wow! Loved this book! Truly an excellent debut novel from Nicky D. White! This was a book that kept me guessing right until the end. White hits her stride in her writing with vivid details and the creation of likable characters. There were so many unexpected twists and turns, it could not have been better.
Raven's Innocence introduces you to Raven Pierce, a Psychologist whose specialty is helping people through their own emotional journey. However, when it comes to her own life things aren't as easily diagnosed. Enter the sexy and mysterious Grant Alexander who drives Raven's emotions to new levels of confusion.
Even the secondary characters were interesting - you'll love Raven's BFF Kat and their playful witty banter. Asher will "wooo" you with his charm.
There's something intoxicating and wickedly delicious about Raven's Innocence. I am ready for the sequel!
Fantastic job Nicky! I look forward to reading more from you!
This book follows a young psychologist who meets a man that she thinks is one thing… and after a tragedy maybe something different. Raven starts questioning if she is falling for him or not. Enjoyed the relationship with Raven’s BFF as well. The ending blew my mind, did not see it coming!
Nicky White does an amazing job with character development. You will instantly feel emotions for her characters. This book starts out Raven's journey and has some twist and turns that made me immediately want to dive into book two of the series.
This book had been on my TBR for forever but I finally got around to reading it. Now I have, I'm wondering why I waited.
Raven's Innocence is a wonderful story, one that had me asking so many questions as I read each chapter. Just when I thought it would go one way, it surprised me and went another.
I loved the relationship Raven has with her best friend Kat. I felt like they'd be great girls to know. There is a lot of humour in this book too. My new favourite word (which I'd never heard before but made me lol) - "Mantrum."
As Raven questioned her feelings for Grant, I too began to wonder WHY she thought she might be falling for him. I'll be honest, I wanted to kick him up the ass and tell her to walk away!
Where Nicky's writing really came into it's own was in the last couple of chapters. I could really FEEL the emotions of the characters, and the writing pulled me right into the story. Loved it!
And the Epilogue??? Don't even get me started on that one!
I'm eagerly anticipating Book 2 "Raven's Undoing" where I hope all of the answers to my questions will be answered!
What a start for this author's debut novel! I am excited for part 2! The lead character was likable and I enjoyed reading her very real emotions as flat characters tend to bore me. Writing a book is no easy task, and getting readers to a point where they want to keep reading is even harder, well done! This budding new author shows a lot of promise with her cheeky wit and intelligence that shines through.
Wow. I've just met the main characters Raven and Grant. There's a mystery about Grant that I haven't figured out yet but the ending of this tale had me on the edge of my seat. Can't wait to read the next novel by Nicky. Go buy it. I highly recommend.
