Let me be fair and say up front this was a first line DNF which is rare even for me.

"Sade was blessed with good hair,....."
Ummm. No. Hell no.

That type of backward ass nonsense isnt worth reading even one more line. What is that, pandering to some ideal fantasy version of what makes a beautiful black woman? I am irritated on multi levels so just no.

**Spoilers** If you are going to read the book, then do not read this review first,
I advise Not to waste your time or money with this book/series **

The book started off with promise.
A mortal woman meets an elf prince, they form a soul bond.

ok.. I can go with that but then it quickly goes down hill from there...

I would have just returned the Human, to the Mortal World but I realize that would be the end of the story.

The mortal, Sade, is captured by a dark elf princes, a scorned woman wants revenge.
The dark princess is evil, I get it and it is bad enough that she takes Sade's memory
of her mate and turns her against the elf prince.
That was bad enough but then the princess hires someone to seduce Sade and teach her how to kill her own mate, the prince.

The hired guy, Haytham, I was interested in his character at first, I was drawn in and wanted to know more about him..

However, he quickly lost all points in my book.
He stated to himself that soul-bonds are sacred, he wondered why the dark princess wanted to break
Sade's bond with the elf prince but he wasn't going to ask, ok, i get that part..
But, the very next scene he is having sex with Sade, right after saying how sacred
a soul-bond is, really?
Even knowing that Sade's memory had been tampered with.
After, that I lost interest in him and didn't care about his character, his life, history or his friendship with Madrin.

I also was disappointed with Sade.
Her memory was taken from her, does that mean her common sense was taken too?
Everyone was warning her against the each other, not to trust the other.
And..... as soon as she gets away from the dark princess, instead of her trying to escape or figure out a plan,
she has sex with a stranger, right after being warned against him,
And, having sex was a stranger hurt her because of the soul bond but she does it, repeatedly.
WTF?

And then.. there is a chance that she is pregnant, some more BS!
I do not know why the author wanted Sade pregnant.
It was bad enough she slept with Haytham, but to have his baby is just.. plain wrong.
Aran should have beat Haytham's azz in the beginning.
Now, Aran has to raise another man's baby? That was so Horrible for the author to do that to him.

And what was the point of Madrin, to let the reader know that Haytham likes men too?
Really? So what, the character was on half of a page and never heard from again.

I liked Charles, Sade's brother.
He seems to be the one to inherit the common sense in the family.
Sade went MIA for Two years, then she wanted to tell her brother that
she was not dead and then she selfishly wanted to do the very same thing to him
all over again, by leaving without saying goodbye! WTH??

I quickly read through the rest of the book/series wanting to know if Sade every gets a
Happily Ever After..
but I lost interest in all of the characters after repeated dumb and deplorable actions.

Dubious sexual consent is not my cup of tea.

It is not sensual or romantic to have a person's memory taken from them and then to be repeatedly taken advantage of by all of the people around that person.

I repeat, started of with Promise but went down hill.

What did I think? Well, I usually prefer vampire novels. I stumbled upon Ms. Johnson's book by accident. I'm a lucky woman. This was such a good book. I read through it in no time, downloaded the second and now I'm in the middle of the third. Actually, I'm a little sad the series will be over, so I am savoring each chapter like the last bits of chocolate candy in a small package.

Is it me or did anyone else see her description of the Prince as resembling the Orlando Bloom character in the Hobbit movies? The long blonde hair, the unusual blue eyes, and the slight but muscular build...seems like she was channeling Orlando to me. I guess the real standouts in the book is not so much the characters -- although they are charming, or the situations -- although they were compelling, but her attention to detail. She richly describes the Elven magic and how elves lived and what they ate and how they loved. Such nice touches that put you right there with the characters.

I’ll be brief: This could have been a well written book with a little effort to write scenes of lust with a little less in your face words. I’m sure there are persons who like this kind of shock therapy but the average reader likes to use their imagination when reading and do not need the author to be so explicit. A good author can write in a way that lets the reader know what’s happening without writing porn.
The story has a good premise but the author should have focused more on the storyline and less on explicit sex.

Excellent book. A bit slow at first, but picks up speed quickly.

I will admit that I had this book on my TBR list for a while. I downloaded this book for free and it’s been sitting there because I was unsure about the genre, but knowing that I have widened my genre of books, I finally decided to give this book a chance. And believe me, it was a very good decision.

It is a novella, so it ends on a cliffhanger. However, it’s the kind of novella that was crafted so well, I didn’t mind investing to find out what happens.

The story begins with Sade, who is trying to escape her crazy ex boyfriend. She runs away to her nana’s, or otherwise her grandmother’s house and there she hides out. You get a little back story. You learn that Sade used to visit her grandma a few times and her grandmother believes in Elves. Her grandma has claimed to see them and when Sade was younger, she once saw one as well but her brother told her otherwise.

Now fast forward, Sade is hiding away from her ex and meanwhile, Aranion, an Elven prince is running away from his father who is also a king. Aranion finds himself in the Human world, which is forbidden and stops Sade’s ex from harming her. By stop I mean plain murder. Before you know it, Sade is dragged into the elf world and where things get complicated, Aranion and Sade have this soul-bond. It’s rare and doesn’t happen that often. Or it shouldn’t happen with a human, but it is…

Now to complete this soul-bond they have to have sex, and to top it off, it’s an attraction that they both can’t deny.In the beginning, I was also contemplating on putting it down, again, I am glad that I didn’t. Because things get really interesting and hotter from there.

This novella is told from both Sade and Aranion’s POV. I liked Sade, although I felt like she accepted this world a little too easily in one sense, but in another, she did stress that she wanted to go back to her brother because that was the only family she had.

I liked the interracial theme they had going on. It was different and refreshing.

Furthermore, the ending was OH MY GOD….

My heart dropped when I read the last chapter, because you could feel the soul-bond between the characters. You knew they had something deep, but at the same time, the story began really fast and deep down I knew that this happy time was going to come to an end. AGH

I bought the whole book set. Seriously, it’s that good.

I am caught rating this book between a three and four star.

The summary of this book is very captivating.

I was slightly disappointed in some of the editing of the book. I came across duplicate dialogue from one chapter to the next - which is a big pet-peeve of mine.

I enjoyed the development of the story-line and the characters. I am really looking forward to part two and can't wait to see how the story unfolds. Hope we don’t have to wait too long!

I'm not sure what I just read? Was this a book or a short story? I'm not quite sure what just happened in this book/short story but I know I don't care to find out what happens to any of the people in the book.
It seems like the author just throw everything together. There was no cohesion. The book/short story was a jumbled mess. Don't waste your time.

This book was slow and the sex board me. It wasn't a complete book which made me a little upset. I do not like it when others put out sections of the book and call each section a book.I don't believe I have any interest in reading anymore and maybe want come back to this author.this was my first elf book and I might not read another

While the sex was hot the story could havebeen a little longer and more in depth. It also leaves you hanging not knowing what happen to Sade and her Elfin Prince...do they find each other again...does she make it back to the mortal world???

Satisfactory. It was pretty full and developed for a short story. I've discovered I'm not as much a fan of elfish romances, it's a little bit of a stretch (even for fantasy). But at least for this one, with a little stretch you can experience a fun enough read!

I'm on the fence about this one. The beginning of the book was not a good setup for Sade's transition to the elf world. But the book gets a bit better once Sade and Aranion are reunited with his father. I will probably continue the series.

The Elven King

The book was fair, a little slow could use a bit more adventure and a bit less sexual description. I'm going to try the next installment to see if it gets more intriguing. Don't ever give up on the first installment, open your mind and continue free and clear.

This book was a good read however.....

I love the 2 main characters. There bond seemed more sexual than anything else. I felt the book was a bit rushed. I would have liked a better discription of the elven world. It was vague. Would I continue the series? I'm not sure.

Not enough, too short…
This was okay to be free but I'm not paying to read the next one based off this. Nothing's going on enough to get my funds and it's too short to get anywhere before it's ended, and I'd be paying for the next one. Okay just not enough to pay for the next one.

I wish they were in a set 'cause they're too short on their own. It makes the story choppy. Also, Insta-love.

this was ok for me. the world was a bit too far for me to immerse myself into; the characters and cliffhanger i don't think will be enough to make me keep reading this series. but i ever say never.
