YOOO, THIS WAS SOOOO GOOD. i came into this thinking it was gonna be hella whatever, but baby. IT WAS SOOO AAAAAH.

it's your typical slice-of-life, adoptive bro/dad x uke unrequited love story. i'm not even into non-incestual relationships in fiction when it comes to dat family lovin' (if you're not really related - boooooring, gtfo). if i see, "he falls in love with his stepbrother, adoptive father, etc" YAWN, BYE. the only reason why i read this was bc duh. misao. doooone.

and she gave me a new found love (?) to give stepbro stories a chance. THIS WAS SUCH A GOOD READ. AH.

quick summary: atsushi lost his dad (by the same way rei lost his mom in public school....) due to daddy overworking and raising a kid on his own, and suffering from a brain hemorrhage in the end. atsushi's relatives, not close to the father at all, was having a dilemma with what to do with the kid, when hisayo, the father's junior in college, offered to adopt him. for the next 11 yrs, atsushi lives with his new family that consist of 2 people: hisayo, the painter, a complete airhead, clumsy as heck, you prob won't get his attention if it's not art-related, but super sweeeet like omfg. and his only son, shinobu, i think (?) 5 years (can't remember, but i'm sure it's 5 yrs) older than atsushi and the complete opposite of hisayo. he tends to tease atsushi but that's only during specific times, because overall HE'S SUCH A GOOOOOD SEME, OMG. he's caring, observant, sweet, helpful, kxjlkfdlskf;;. i thought he was going to be a complete asshole, but no?? i thought?????

the plot in a nutshell: shinobu loves atsushi. atsushi loves hisayo. hisayo is an airhead, and he notices nothing (so he seems...). shinobu finds out atsushi's secret. stuff happens.... dun dun dun. and insert this messy, emotional, and chaotic family drama that unfolds. i love all the characters equally. even the "antagonist" (i wrote protagonist the first time, wtf self, i know words ok) who is portrayed as the bad guy when he is introduced. ok, maybe not so much as loooove THAT guy. but... he did help "move" things along.

usually in misao's stories, she'll have an asshole seme that turns into a knight in shiny armor by the end.

there's no asshole semes here. IN FACT, THERE ARE TWO AMAZING POTENTIAL SEMES HERE!!! TWO! TWO!!!!

atsushi is tsundere as hell and stubborn asf but i like to think that... i was probably (lawls) the same way when i was a HS student. i was stubborn asffff. but. his fixation for being part of a family and not be thrown away (or not be so much of a burden to cause someone to die from a hemorrhage), and how he would sacrifice his own happiness and time and energy to not inconvenience his family members... sooobbb. he's such a good, selfless kid. and i LOVED how proactive he was in the end. LOVE IT WHEN MY UKES TAKE THE INITIATIVE.

anyways, i can go on and on and honestly, you just need to pick this up and read it. it's a quick read, nothing too deep. but man, the ride is definitely something you should get on asapNESS.
