Mal’s plan B—a plan he didn't like when he made it—has gone into action, and the Serenity has come out of hiding. With his crew, one victim, and a hostage, Mal is ready to fight the Alliance head on—but first, they are going to rescue Zoe, no matter what!

His first professional work in television was as a production assistant on his brother Joss Whedon's series, 'Angel'.
He is best known for his work, alongside his brothers Joss Whedon and Jed Whedon, on the parody musical 'Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog' which he co-created and co-wrote.
Issue number 6 concludes the storyline. I won't say anything because that would spoil everything.
Overall, I liked this set of six issues. The title "Leaves on the Wind" is obviously from Wash's last words before he died and is fitting because of the trials that Zoe endures during this story. The main characters are back (with the exceptions of Shepherd Bush and Wash) with a few new additions. It makes you want to go back and watch the series again. It is nice to see cancelled sci fi shows find new life in the comics. I also read Farscape and have enjoyed its continuing story as well.
The ending is left open for continuing story, however, nothing has been released yet. I will definitely read it if it comes out. I would have liked to give the whole series 4 stars but the art made it difficult. It's not that it's bad. It's just that it's hard to tell at a glance who the character is without having to think. Inara, Kaylee and River often look alike depending on the angle they are drawn at and its very annoying. I have a feeling I'm supposed to recognize other characters from earlier but the rendering makes it impossible to tell. In contrast, the Farscape comics are drawn to look like the actors on the show so there's no question of who is who.
Menacing ending. Some twists and surprises. Some expected surprises, some fan service. A bit of confused violence. Some semi abrupt plot jumps. And yet the pacing works. And the art got better, or I just decided to relax my standards.
Either I have forgotten characters from the series, or I need more info. There’s a woman with a black bob that I don’t recognize, which confuses things.
Had this not been the last issue of Leaves on the Wind it would not have received three stars... it would have been lower.
I was loving this issue right up until the very end. Everything was wrapping up and everything was falling into place, as is what happens in the last issue of a comic book series. Sure, it was sad that it was coming to the end but every character seemed happy with where they were going and what they had done, which in turn, made me happy.
That is... until the last three pages, when they decided to throw a cliffhanger in!! Now, don't get me wrong, I love a cliffhanger especially when it means there's a possibility that I could be receiving new comics from the series in the future. However, the point of Serenity: Leaves on the Wind, was to be a six issue mini-series to give us more of the Firefly universe... not to create a new huge series.
I loved the happy ending, I wanted the happy ending! Not a surprise cliffhanger!
That being said, overall I did enjoy the series. I thought it was good and let us have a little more time in the Firefly universe. I just wish they would have given us a happy ending not another cliffhanger... yet again.
Now that I've read all 6 I feel I can more accurately review the series, individual issues are just too short.
It's good to see the Serenity crew back together, not too much has changed, each character is just like we remember. The story picks up some time after the movie ended, the crew is being hunted by the alliance, a rebel force is growing, and events follow from there.
I enjoyed each installment and appreciated where the story went. We see familiar bad guys and grow to dislike the Alliance even more, which I appreciate. The layout of the story was good, it didn't drag, and was interesting. I'd gladly go on reading to see what happens next, but for now I'm happy to just have another story in this universe.
Maybe it's because it's the last issue of the series, but this one felt too short. Everyone gets a happy ending, even though some things seem not to change at all ("You got her back. What now?" "Same as ever. Take to the sky, see where it leads.") but the authors leaves us with a final page that seems to lead to more stories about the 'Serenity' crew.
From the cover version I got (http://kabalounge.com/kaba/wp-content...) to the last image of the 'Serenity', there's always a knot in the throat with those leaves in the wind. That's a panel to print out and frame.
We'll miss you loads, Browncoats. I guess it's the boxset again.
I am so sad this is now over! I'm hoping one day they will pick it up again because the ending is definitely interesting and leaves on a cliffhanger, sort of! Overall, I really enjoyed having my favorite team back together and seeing how they deal with the Alliance. It was nice to be reunited with old favorite characters and introduced to new ones. It was not nearly enough and now I am just in firefly/serenity withdrawal even more!
So knowing this was the last one and seeing Wash on the cover pretty much made me tear up before I even started reading this one. I almost feel like for every new story we do get, my heart aches even more for what could have been. So much potential! Anyways...
This was a good finish to the arc. It wrapped things up but also showed us a teaser in the end for potential ongoing stories. Definitely enjoyed it.
I really enjoyed this entire series. It felt rushed in spots, but overall it fits well into the Firefly 'verse. Browncoats will not be disappointed, but it may reopen the wound of the show's cancellation.
I hate the bosses at FOX so much atm! There is SO much potential in this story, how the eff could they have not seen this? How could they have cancelled something so beautiful?
It was good, but I felt like it was so short. This mini series could have easily been a pretty good two part episode or movie. Why can't there be more??? *sobs bitterly*
The cover art was excellent. The story was engaging; even though it said "The End" it really seems to be starting a new story. It would be great if it was continued.
And all is well in the 'verse again. This is a hard issue, in that there's a wonderfully clear (if ever expanding) path forward, and it's also clear that no more will be coming out.
