Look, touch, but don’t fall in love.

Massage therapist Liz Williams lives by one rule: never date a client. A rule she’s never had trouble following until she lays hands on fireman playboy Torrunn MacKay. Trouble is, Liz’s sexy new client is dating her arch-rival at work…and has a strange habit of appearing just before the fire alarm sounds.

Firefighter Torrunn MacKay has got it made: killer job, downtown condo with a view, and hot blonde girlfriend with no more desire to tie the knot than he has. But the surprise attraction he feels toward his new masseuse is threatening to change all that. And what’s with the string of fires that seem to follow her everywhere?

Can Liz mind her table manners and keep Torrunn at arms’ length? Will Torrunn put his commitment fears aside to keep Liz safe? More than hearts will be in jeopardy when the two start Flirting with Fire.

CONTENT WARNING: Beware of darkened rooms, delicious fire fighters, and desperate pyromaniacs.

Liz loses her job when her boss is caught giving a massage client “special treatment.” But this turns out to be the beginning of a series of good things for Liz. She gets a new job, moves away from her small town, even meets a handsome firefighter. So why isn’t she happy? A fun romp that explores what it takes to move away from the family and friends you grew up with and try new things. The mystery takes some awkward turns, but development of the main characters is exemplary!

I’d love to hang out with Liz. She’s a great character. She has a can do attitude, a great relationship with her mother, very supportive friends who she loves like siblings and while having a boyfriend and thinking eventually of children would be great it’s not something she obsesses over. She dreams of the opportunities the bigger city may offer and when she’s there she doesn’t flounder. Fort Wayne is a challenge this chipper go-getter can handle. Liz does have faults. Making half-caff coffee? What’s the point? She allows herself to be a bit run over in the interest of advancement and what she really wants for her life. This is not the woman who feels the world is out to get her. She’s making lemonade but with store-bought lemons and not the one life hands her. One of her new clients is Torrunn, a co-worker’s boyfriend and local smoking hot firefighter. A client and taken mean way off of the list of possibilities. Maybe he has some hot firefighter friends?

“Flirting with Fire” is a great novel for kick-back time on the weekend. It’s fun, flirty and riddled with really nice people. We get the story through the eyes of Liz and she generally is seeing the best is people so while Bunni is a bit of a jerk, Liz tries to understand her disappointment in losing out on a job to Liz and not wanting anyone working on her boyfriend but herself. While Torrunn is a bit of a douchebag but he does good for the community and while there’s an indication that he doesn’t treat his girlfriends in a serious nature, he’s generally a good guy and the platonic byplay may be flirt but its friendly without artifice.

“Flirting with Fire” is an easy, fun and sweet read about people that the reader really wants to win.

3+ STAR RATING- This had the potential to be a better read then it was. My biggest problem was I just didn't like the heroine that much. I didn't hate her but she was my least favorite type of female character...pathetic. She felt bad about herself, let everyone walk over her, had a hard time making decisions... it was too much for me to ever really connect with her. Other than that, the story was cute although it did have a lower steam level then I was expecting. I think I may have also liked it more if it was dual POV instead of just the heroine's.

This is book two in the Hometown Heroe's series but works just fine as a stand-alone. The first book is Armed with Steele.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review

This is the second book in the Hometown Heroes series. It can also be read as a standalone. Kyra Jacobs has got a new fan! I absolutely LOVED this book! It was incredibly easy to get wrapped up in the story, small town girl moves to the big city, hot fireman seems to be everywhere she turns, making her crush on him that much harder to manage. Sparks are flying... literally. A firebug seems to be targeting her. With so many suspects, how do you know who to trust before it's too late?

Definitely recommend to those who want a romance with a bit of "whodunit"

Really enjoyed this book. Had a really interesting story to it. Gotta love imagining giving massages to a hot, nearly-naked fireman. I liked Liz and could feel her small hometown life just about smothering her. I enjoyed her friends from home, Mitch and Sarah, but they both seemed like they wanted to keep her grounded there and not allowed to spread her wings. I could understand her longing to get out and go to the big city. I loved Torrunn and his buddies at the fire house. Enjoyed her new friends Jessica and Tony, too. The ending was a nice twist. So glad it ended the way it did.

ARC provided in exchange for honest review.

Overall, Flirting With Fire was an entertaining read and I'd give it a 3.5 rating. I did like it but I can't say I loved it or ever felt like I HAD to keep reading. And I can't really pinpoint what it was that kept me from enjoying it more. At times it just felt like something was missing. I'm sorry. I know that's not terribly helpful as far as an explanation goes but that's all I can really say. I appreciate the opportunity I was given to read Flirting With Fire in exchange for an honest review.

Another Great Read

Part 2 of Hometown Heros was another great read from Kyra Jacobs. I really enjoyed the characters. And the suspense kept me wondering. I love how it keeps you guessing all the way to the end.

Another satisfying installment in the series

I read this book immediately after reading the first in the series, but they can easily be stand alones. The major characters from the first book do make an appearance here, but you don't need to know their history to enjoy this book. That being said, those that have read both will be that much more appreciative of what I consider to be some inside jokes.

Like the first book, this one relies heavily on using the setting of Fort Wayne as a backdrop for the action. Locals will likely get a kick at seeing familiar places turn up in the storyline. As with the first book, I'm not quite sure why some places retain their proper names while others don't. Since I live there, it's something that's sort of a stumbling block for me but most readers wouldn't notice.

I didn't quite get into this one as much as the first because I had a harder time relating to the heroine. She's got a finely tuned moral compass that can be a bit repetitive. She sticks to her principles for the majority of the book, until -well- she doesn't and readers get the payoff that they were looking for.

Again, this is nowhere close to a steamy read. This one includes a shower scene, but those looking for massive description won't get what they came for. The author definitely employs the fade to black technique.

I liked Torrunn as the hero, though I didn't care for his unique name. Hot, firefighter, loves kids, would do anything for you - what's not to like?

The mystery in this one wasn't as captivating as in the first, but it was still an integral part of the story. I have to say that I didn't figure out who the culprit was before it was revealed, instead opting for the obvious suspect.

Still an enjoyable read for those that like romantic suspense and an added bonus for those who know the area.

Sorry…

Flirting With Fire by Kyra Jacobs is indeed the best alluring romance novel to date. Her novel instantly grabs readers’ attention and draws them into the plot. The plot is well written and begins with sparks flying everywhere. And I mean everywhere. There is always a fire whenever Liz is around. She wants to leave the small town if she can’t make a living doing what she wanted to do. Somehow, she manages to stay and do her work. And it isn’t long before a very tempting firefighter comes her way. He starts to feel heat not just from the fires but from his massage therapist, Liz. He is willing to push aside all his fears just to have her in his world. But will Liz want to be a part of his world?

I found this story very amusing. Both of the characters are easy to relate to. And feeling what they are going through and why made the story so much more real. I loved following them as the plot deepened. Kyra Jacobs has a way of writing an irresistible story that readers everywhere will love. Her style has lured me in, all the way until the very end. I can’t wait to read more novels by this amazing and very talented writer. Overall, I give her book a five out of five stars.

I enjoyed the first 85% of the book. Was really disappointed by the complete lack of sexi time. The last 10% of the book felt completely rushed. The resolution and the person responsable for all the troubles was so out of the blue that it appear unconnected with the story.
I'm giving it 3 stars because I did love their banter and how they were together. But the overall feeling after finishing was kind of unsatisfying.
