Before you know it, the urge to plant and nurture will take over. At this point, you need a garden plan for your container garden.

Use this monthly container gardening checklist to keep your containers at peak performance.

When do I plant spring bulbs in containers?
When do I perk up my annual plantings with some new varieties?
What do I do with container plants I want to save over winter?

These and many other questions are answered in this container gardening book. At the beginning of the month, check out the tasks and tips on the schedule. Marginally useful

I saw a book on container gardening and thought, "hey, a guide to gardening I can use." This book is not what I expected or needed. It's about 100% flower growing, not gardening, which is about growing vegetables and fruits. I suppose if you want pretty flowers, this is the book for you. Looking to make your containers produce food, look elsewhere.

I’m new’ish to container gardening and there are a few techniques I’ll need to research, so it’s not a comprehensive guide for a novice. Despite the publication date, this book really holds up. She really breaks down what to do and when, making gardening much more doable. And the hyperlinks in the Kindle version are still relevant.

A month-by-month checklist at the end the end would be a great add to any new edition but looking forward to reading others in this series. The 2nd is “How to Keep a Garden Journal” and the timing for both these books are perfect for me, as I’m starting my own container garden this weekend. 🪴 🍅 🌿

Overview: It's finally time. You have a patio, a balcony, or simply a front porch or deck. And you want to have a garden. Mrs. Daniels has a way to have a garden no matter how big of a space you have. After all, it just depends on what your container looks like.

Dislikes: I was not able to find much at all to dislike here.

Likes: There are several items that were suggested to be done over a three month period. This gives you plenty of time to accomplish your tasks.

Plus, depending on where you are located, the weather expectations of each month can be funny.

Conclusion: This is a great book for the new gardener. Perhaps we can all do a better job in our gardens this year.

Good but ...

Unlike that this book gives practical tips on what to do throughout the year for container gardening. However, there are grammatical errors, missing links and missing punctuation that can make it a bit annoying to read. Additionally, there is quite a bit of repetition at the beginnings of chapters. It would have worked better to have formula written each month rather than repeat the same observations.

If you live in the NW, luv flowers ...

... and want to grow them in containers; this book might be for you. If you live elsewhere and don't want to fool with figuring out grow times in your zone, and/or if you're looking to grow food in containers (my reason for the rating given) - then give this book a pass. The author seems decent tho, and I believe they have a book dedicated to that subject too, if you're interested.

Liked it

I enjoyed it.
It might not be suitable for all USDA zones, but I would still suggest it to everyone. I personally am suitable for life & gardening in zones 3-7. The book reminds of home, which does mean its suitable for the mainstream everyday gardener or those interested.

Interesting but not very useful

I like the calendar based format and suggested plans. It feels like a lot of underlying assumptions about your garden knowledge and regional weather are being made. However I'm a noob from Tx so I may be biased

Wonderfully detailed information.

This a wonderful detailed book. Lots of great tips and sound knowledge. However if you live in southern or coastal areas you'll need to move up and extend your time tables just a little.

This book breaks down gardening month by month. I'm new to gardening, a couple of years now, and I started out with containers.

It's all about flowers, not growing plants or veg in pots like I expected. Be aware. Not badly written though.

Container Gardening Month by Month by Gloria Daniels
Free calender offer, and table of contents is broken up by months of the year.
Intro talks about zone you are in so you make sure you get right things for it, to grow properly.
Starts out talking about planning, seed catalogs, inventory of pots you have.
Love that it not only talks about flower seeds but how to germinate them and also vegetable seeds and bulbs.
Tiny pictures along the way. About the author is included at the end.
