Torey Hope #2

Because of Beckett

Rate this book
Audrey Decker is a mean girl, a bitch, a bully. She has no plans to stop treating people badly and she’s definitely not going to stop using sex as power. But when she ends up in therapy against her wishes, an ugly and painful repressed past is uncovered and Audrey’s world is tipped on its axis. Everything she thought she knew, everything she thought she was, is all changing.

Jeremiah Jordan returns from serving two years overseas with a detached and hardened heart. When his world is rocked with unexpected news and difficult challenges, Jeremiah faces them head on. He’s comfortable with where he is right now; he has his parents close by and his son is his world. He definitely doesn’t have time for the hassle that has always accompanied dating in the past. He doesn’t have it in him to put effort into forming relationships that may just hurt him or his son again.

A chance encounter, second chances, and a little boy who believes in learning from mistakes is all it takes to bring Audrey and Jeremiah together. However, deserving a second chance and taking that second chance are two very different things. Learning from mistakes and letting go of the past may be easier said than done. Can Audrey and Jeremiah push through the pasts that are haunting both of them or will their romance wither and die under the weight of it all?

Because of Beckett is a story of love, forgiveness, and second chances.

**Because of Beckett is recommended only for ages 18+ due to harsh language, adult situations, and mature themes. Certain pivotal points of Audrey’s history may trigger unpleasant memories for some readers.**

I think this heroine (I think this term is so wrong) is the one who I wonder why when a man does this horrendous crime he goes to jail and a female only goes to therapy? IMO, the crime has the same weight for both

This is Audrey Decker's story. You met Audrey in For Nicky, she was a hateful person. Used sex to control people, and never cared who she hurt in the process. Was disrespectful and mean to other people. Now she is therapy to get through why she is that way. So much happened to her through her most formidable years. Jeremiah Jordan served in the Army and now is out and just wants to take care of his son Beckett and be the best father he can be. Not interested in dating, he had enough with his past and Becketts mother. His parents live close by and his life is the way he wants it. He meets Audrey when she is referred to him for planning his sons party. They have an instant attraction but neither are ready to move on and have a relationship. To much baggage between the two of them.

I loved the story, you get to visit with all the wonderful characters of For Nicky. It was hard to see Audrey in a new light. You pretty much hate her in the first book. Everyone deserves a second chance. Here Audrey gets hers. You got to love Jeremiah, a wonderful caring man, his world is his son and giving him the best possible life he can. He doesn't trust women and with Audrey's past it makes it that much harder. Until Beckett steps in. For such a young guy he is wonderful. He sees the world in a unique way. You do something wrong, you say your sorry and you move on. No matter the problem, how big or small. What we as adults make so hard, Beckett turns them into simple things.

This book takes you through a wide range of emotions. I found myself crying a lot both happy tears and sad. Cheering characters on at times and others screaming NO at the book.

A.D. Ellis does a fantastic job with the ending of the book. You get a look into the lives of all the characters from both books. While Because of Beckett is a stand-alone, it is better read after For Nicky to learn the whys of the characters.

This is such an emotional book. If you have already read For Nicky, you will know what a villain Audrey is..
But brace yourself because by the time you get to the end of Because Of Beckett not only will you understand her better, you will love her.
Audrey & Jeremiah's story is so beautiful, they have both has issues in their past's & they have both done things they are not proud of.
Then there is Jeremiah's son Beckett.. What a beautiful boy! I think the world could learn so much from this one little boy. This story truly demonstrates the real meaning of unconditional love & also teaches that you don't have to share DNA to love a child & to be willing to protect them with your life if need be.
Audrey & Jeremiah (and Beckett) deserve a happy ever after, but in order to get it they have a long road ahead of them & a lot of work to do dealing with their issues.
There are some funny moments that will give you a little giggle, but this whole book is full of emotional moments that may have you reaching for your tissue box.. Not just for the sad moments but for the happy ones too. Jeremiah has a bit of alpha male in him which does come out in the bedroom, but outside of it he is just a really sweet and super protective man looking out for what he considers his.
Audrey on the inside is a really beautiful person that really feels undeserving of anyone's love, let alone Jeremiahs. He is determined to prove her wrong. He just never anticipated how much of a role Beckett would play in that.
A.D Ellis has out done herself with Because Of Beckett, I absolutely adored this book & I am really looking forward to what she gives us next!!

When I opened up this novel was very much looking forward to the read especially since I did read the first novel. The prologue is not the expected opener also thought it should of had a warning hehe saying that Mr. Beckett is the one to watch for because you will fall in love with him instantly. Audrey is the one you meet in first book that she was quite the piece of work with all kinds of names that could be attached to her to describe her. She is now in in-patient therapy and you get to see her progress. Also a new character introduced-Jeremiah who is by the author you are given all the low down on the past events to the present but he has the one key person that I feel is the clincher in this novel he is the father to Mr. Beckett. While reading you also will see why I name he such the adorable little guy he is who is also oh so wise for his cute self. Don't get me wrong though the adult characters in this novel are also worth diving into this novel. Jeremiah is one great daddy also, there needs to be more guys like him willing to take a stand and be the man when necessary. One of the interesting aspects of this story is how they meet with the events that go from there. The author does a fantastic job of building of their relationship that keeps you hooked to the pages turning them as quick as you can to see what transpires next. You also meet up with Audrey's sister again to get a glimpse more into a relationship between these two that is so completely different from the first book for the better. The author has done such a bang up job with Beckett that you often forget the hurdles he must and does overcome because he is that special and adorable. The mother though is one piece of work though that causes pain through out that at times you want to meet up with her to give her a piece or two. So through the ups and downs and all arounds this is one novel that can bring forth many of a emotion from the reader with that being the mark of a fine author. Just love how it is brought all together and wrapped up almost with a bow with the most intriguing epilogue I have read in a long time that left me the reader so satisfied, because sometimes even with one you feel as if something was missing or there should be something else but not in this case. Received a arc for a honest review.

Wow, another amazing book by A.D. Ellis!! I love her characters, the real life situations that they are experiencing and the way that her books just seem to flow so smoothly from start to finish! I wasn't aware of how much time had gone by as I was reading her book since I didn't want to put it down at any point in the story. I loved the dynamics of the new characters that she introduced to the story and how they were able to interact with the characters that I already knew and loved. I enjoyed the banter between them, it was so completely real and I could feel myself being friends with them. The author takes important issues, such as bullying, people with disabilities, rape, drugs, low self esteem and makes it into an enjoyable yet educational story for the reader. I am already looking forward to another book by A.D. Ellis and am hoping that it is sooner rather than later, as I need it now! Make sure you pick up book 1 (For Nicky) first so that you are able to experience the amazing journey through Torey Hope and so that you are able to understand where the author began the journey. It is one that you don't want to miss! Add this to your TBR list now and it is a guarantee that you will fall in love with the town, the people and the journey you are taking. Enjoy and make sure that you have lots of time to read as you won't be able to stop once you start!!

What is there not to love about a story that is about second chances and finding your happily ever after. In A.D.'s first book, For Nicky, Audrey was the bitch we all hate but in Because of Beckett we find out why. Everyone has a story as to why they are the way they are and if they are willing to change then we need to be willing to forgive.
Jeremiah Jordan is a hot tattooed single dad who dropped everything for his son. He has no clue on what he is doing but for his son he will learn and grow as a person.
Beckett. What a wonderful little boy that over comes so much and has a wonderful view on life. He shows us that life isn't as hard we make it. We should accept our mistakes, forgive ourselves and move on to a better us. That is what we all deserve.

Because of Beckett.... and inspiring read, but yet emotional. **Warning** make sure you have tissue..you will need it at some point in this story. A page turner, drama, and a well..I wanna choke someone in this book a time or two. I can't and won't do spoilers, but I will tell you, if you pass this book by, you're passing up one of the most greatest book to read this year! Beckett sure does know how to latch his fingers around your heart. I loved Nicky but I think I fell more in love with Beckett. And Audrey, well there were those "what the hell are you thinking and doing" moments. But I could relate to her in more ways than I wanted to admit. Her life hit home for me in so many ways.

This is Audrey Decker’s story and for those of you who have read ‘For Nicky’, you see how truly awful Audrey treats her sister Beth. Audrey was truly a character you could definitely dislike, or even hate, due to the extent of her bullying and controlling.

Ms. Ellis showed us how much love and forgiveness was needed in ‘For Nicky’ and she interweaves various issues in this story also. Audrey and Beth lost their mother at a young age and their father couldn’t cope with the loss of his wife. He turned to alcohol and didn’t pay much attention to his daughter’s. We know from ‘For Nicky’ that Audrey went to a therapist, who works very hard to determine what cause’s Audrey’s bullying. I thought I knew what happened but it was more involved than could be imagined. Audrey learns that she needs to control all situations from a young age and her sister especially gets the brunt of her hatefulness.

Audrey goes to the Torey Hope Education Center to see her sister and meets almost 4 year old Beckett Jordan. Like Nicky in the first story, Beckett has several physical problems to deal with, along with struggling academically. Audrey tends to stay away from anyone with such obvious disabilities, but after becoming friends with Nicky, something draws her to Beckett. The more I read about Beckett, I fell in love with him and his wonderful personality. He was such an old soul, had such insights to people, and could have been a therapist himself! He believed in love, forgiveness, and giving second chances.

Due to Audrey’s history, she wants nothing to do with anyone in the military. She speaks to Beckett’s father, Jeremiah, by phone about a birthday party for his son, not knowing his son is Beckett. When she realizes Jeremiah was previously in the military, she decides to meet him but tell him she can’t plan the party for him. They realize that they have already met but didn’t know each other’s names. After Jeremiah convinces Audrey to plan his son’s birthday party, Beckett shows up to her surprise and they hug. Jeremiah has gone through so much with his ex-wife leaving him with a newborn with severe disabilities (and possibly due to her drug and alcohol use), but he falls in love with his son immediately and devotes all of his time to him. It makes him feel good that Audrey and Beckett already like each other. I loved how Jeremiah made every effort to spend time with Beckett and show his love.

Unfortunately, there are several ups and downs in this book as Audrey struggles with her issues, her therapy, and the relationship between her and Jeremiah. This book will definitely tug at your heartstrings but I enjoyed every minute. I love epilogues and this one was truly lovely and offered even more about the various characters. I love the playlists in the books and the information listed at the end of the book about the various issues addressed. I have found a new author to follow and can recommend this book.

Where do I start to review this book !!! This is the second book in the Torey Hope series... and A.D. Ellis has outdone herself with this book..I was drawn in from page one and could not put book down had to stay awake all night until I finished it..This book is a real emotional story about Aubrey and the reason why she is so despicable I absolutely detested her in "For Nicky".. She was one of the people Nate argued with because she made fun of people who were different... In this book we find the reasons for her behaviour..all she was looking for was attention.... but not this kind... this attention consisted of molestation and rape by two of her fathers friends !! A.D. wrote about this problem with great compassion and sensitivity... Once I read this I could understand her life.. she thought she was taking charge but she was slowly destroying herself.. Then introduce into the story Beckett and his Daddy Jeremiah.. Beckett is certainly different.. he has a disability.. but is also a wise owl.. a wee old man in a four year old body ... everyone loves him .. and Aubrey comes to love him too .. Aubrey has never had friends in her life .. the only people she is now close to are her father and sister who she bullied mercilessly when she they were children.. Can Jeremiah take a chance on Aubrey.. everything that happens in his life is due to Becket.. I was prying for a HEA at the end of the book.. but was there one??? I will not give this story away I detest spoilers.. you have to read this series you will not be disappointed.. A.D.Ellis as an Author you ROCK

Well, it took me a month to finish so that pretty much says it all.

Overall, I find the characters implausible. In particular Beckett who had a command of English on par with an adult. He was only 4!

Not even sure how to begin to tell you about this book. I read 'For Nicky' by this author a while ago, and although the author tells you these books were written as stand alones, it is definitely best to read 'For Nicky' first, then 'Because of Beckett', I am very pleased that I did and was captivated by the story, there was one character in 'For Nicky' that I hated, so when I found out the author had actually written a new story with this character in, her name is Audrey, I thought to myself, no chance I am reading that, well I changed my mind, simply because I wanted to know how the hell the author was possibly going to be able to change my feelings for this character Audrey, that I am sure many have hated, well I was blown away by this story, the author actually turned my feelings around and it's 'Because of Beckett', this writer has so much talent, I only hope my review does this book justice.
This is a very touching story, Beckett son of Jeremiah, was born with problems, his father loved him regardless, it was his son, beautiful baby boy. Beckett's mother on the other hand was a totally different story, Shelly she's called, she couldn't care less about being a mother to Beckett or a wife to Jeremiah for that matter, she was unfaithful constantly, bringing so much shame to Jeremiah, boy did he try to be a good husband but she literally
walked all over him, in my eyes she is a nasty piece of work, she can't possibly have a heart, not wanting to love and care for her child, Beckett is such an inspiration, a very wise old man in a four year olds body, he is loved by everyone he comes into contact with, no wonder his father is so proud of him and how Audrey fell in love with him.
Audrey has never had any friends, closest people to her are her father and sister Libby, who she bullied for years, her mother died when she was just a little girl, her father filled with to much grief never took care of his girls properly, when they were young Libby couldn't wait to go outside with her friends especially when her father's friends would come over but Audrey would stay home hoping to get some attention from her father and his friends, unfortunately her father should have paid more attention to Audrey, you begin to understand why Audrey grew up the mean girl that she was, she thought she was taking control of her life but really she was destroying herself.
The author writes about child molestation and rape but does it in a very tactful and compassionate way, it's hard to read about things like this, nobody wants bad thing to happen to a child but it sometimes happens, it is how life can be for so many.
Beckett and Jeremiah take a chance on Audrey, you will understand that everything good that happens is because of Beckett, while reading each chapter I began to pray that there would be a happy ending to this story.
I feel like the author gave me a challenge when she wrote this book, almost like she was saying I dare you to read it and not change your mind about Audrey, well challenge accepted and she won, I didn't think it was possible but I was wrong. thank you for writing 'Because of Beckett' and helping understand Audrey's story, I really look forward to read more of your books.

"WARNING" MAY CONTAIN MINOR SPOILERS! Because of Beckett is Book 2 In the Torey Hope Novel Series. Again i received this book for an honest review. This book is about Audrey Decker We met her in the first book. You know the mean sister that was a bully & really hateful to basically everyone. She used sex so she could feel like she had control of the situation. I talked about how much i didn't like her & I wanted to strangle her. Well In this book we learn a lot about Audrey that we didn't know in the beginning. I still feel that she was a little to harsh to Elizabeth. But what Aubrey went through at a young age no person should ever have to experience. As she goes through therapy to help her deal with what happened to her. Will she stick with it & make up for all the bad things she's done? Then There's Jeremiah Jordan former soldier in the US Army & single dad. Now he's out. & focused on raising his son Beckett. He has no interest in any type of relationship with the opposite sex. After Beckett's mom just ups & leaves cause she can't handle the fact that the baby she gave birth to is not perfect in her eyes. Well maybe if she would have done what she was suppose to do instead of drinking while she was pregnant things would have turned out different. Jeremiah's life is going good right now he has his son & his parents live right behind him & they are such a big help. They are so in love with their grandson.

Jeremiah & Audrey meet one night while they are both out. They never exchange names & have one night together. But little do they know they will meet again. Jeremiah is given Audrey's name & number by Nate. Jeremiah is looking for someone to help him plan his sons birthday party. They meet again & sparks fly but are they ready for move on, are they ready to date?

At this point I have to say I'm so drawn into this story i can't put the book down I just wanted to keep reading to find out what happens. Theirs so much that they have both been through. Audrey is still dealing with her past could Jeremiah be the one to help her defeat her demons from the past or will her past be to much for him to handle. Can they trust each other? Can Jeremiah trust her with his son. Her past doesn't make her the poster child for being the most sympathetic person.

As you continue to read this well written story you find out what a sweet & beautiful boy Beckett is & how he & Nicky play a part in trying to get his dad & Audrey together. You will also continue to informed on how Nate & Elizabeth are doing & whats going on in their lives. This book is another roller coaster of emotions. In the end i came to really love every single character in this book. I'm so excited for the next book in this series. I just love how A.D. Ellis can make you laugh, cry & fall in love all at the same time!

'Because of Beckett is the second book in the Torey Hope series and it follows straight on from the first book 'For Nicky'. I was delighted to know that it was already out when I started 'For Nicky' so I could continue the story without having a book hangover!

This was a book that I had trouble putting down. It gripped me from page one and the characters stayed with me long after I had finished the story. The chapters are short and sweet which I really like especially as the book is from different view points. The storyline is intriguing and doesn’t lull at any point. The writing is descriptive, the storyline is amazing and it shows the incredible talent of A.D Elis who I am not ashamed to say has become one of my favourite authors of all time.

Because of Beckett is the sweet, touching, emotional, rollercoaster of a story .Audrey Decker and Jeremiah Jordan are the main characters and the book is full of obstacles they had to overcome to get their happy ever after and boy did they have obstacles! I won’t tell you to much as I hate it when people write reviews and tell me the whole story.

We finally understand why Audrey was the way she was in 'For Nicky'. I had a strong feeling while reading 'For Nicky' she had a story to tell as no one ever reacts the way she did or have actions like she did without a reason, and boy did she have her reasons! Audrey redeems herself for me in this book and it shows her soft gentle side which she didn’t have in book one. I loved Jeremiah; he is a man who is loyal and full of duty and responabliites so it was nice to see his character develop especially his playful side that Audrey brought out of him while shopping for party things.

I loved the way that the characters in 'For Nicky' were heavily involved in this book I find in a series that the author may only mention the character in prior books but I love the way Nicky’s, Nate’s and Libby’s story continued on as well as finding out how it all ended for them all in the epilogue. I especially love Nicky’s ending well maybe that has to do with the mention of Carly lol

One thing I that I had in mind throughout reading this book was what Audrey did to Nate in 'For Nicky' I couldn’t get past the fact that they had all forgiven her for what she did to him. And I thought Jeremiah, would have had a bigger reaction when he found out what she did, but I can understand why the author did what she did and the reasons why.

For me this is a story or love, hope and new beginnings because I believe everyone deserve a second chance if they want one. Now go buy and read the book, I’m off to read book 3 :)

This is a great sequel to For Nicky, but For Nicky still over powers the Beckett story. This book is about Audrey's redemption, how she changed and how she got there. I felt for her and what she went through in the past. Her past struck a cord in me and I just cannot imagine a child going through what she went through. The path that she chose to take after what she went through was a destructive one. It took a lot from everyone to make her see what she was doing to herself and others around her, especially to the one's she loves. This book shows Audrey growing up and her battle to becoming a better person. When you read the book you will agree that she completely redeemed herself, from all the bad things she did in the past. Having such a great family helped her a lot, also Nicky and Nate had a lot to do with it.

 photo BecauseofBeckett-Teaser1.jpg

On Audrey's way to finding herself, she met the love of her life Jeremiah Jordan. He is the sweetest and most understand guy, who has a special needs cutest little boy name Beckett. He is the smartest little 4yr old you will ever meet. He reminds me of a younger Nicky, so insightful, forgiving and loving person.

Audrey struggled to be the better person throughout the book and Beckett is what helped her a lot. In her mind, no matter what she did, she will never be good enough for Jeremiah and Beckett.

"The man is beyond good and I still don't feel like I deserve him, but I'm going to work my ass off to make sure he's never disappointed for choosing me. Did I really tell my first actual boyfriend that I love him for the first time in a skating rink? Yep, that actually happened. I had to smile at it; it was sort of just 'us'."
- Audrey

What I love most of how the book ended is it gave me a glimpse of the lives of all the characters, even Nicky. Which is totally worth it to read. I am so much more in love with Nate after reading this book, he is nothing but a great guy.

Audrey has been in in-patient therapy for a month and in the beginning she was pissed at everyone who had a hand in putting her there. Dr. Xander wants to get to the root of the problem as to why she is like this.Audrey didn't have nightmares until the day they hit the mother lode. Audrey wants to make her relationship better between Beth and her father.Dr. Xander wants her to heal emotionally first before she jumped into something sexual. He warned Audrey that she might have set backs. When Shelly told Jeremiah that she was pregnant Jeremiah was so happy. Beckett Jeremiah Jordan was born 6 weeks early,he had a cleft lip, total hearing loss in one ear and partial in the other, he also had bad eye sight and a limp. Shelly harbored guilt that his problems were from her drinking and drug use while she was pregnant with him. When Beckett first met Audrey, she was at the center where she took her car after it wouldn't start.Jeremiah got Audrey's number from Nate and Elizabeth for party planning, he needed her to plan Beckett's fourth birthday. Audrey doesn't want to because she has a thing against military men. She finally decides to take the party because of Beckett.
Audrey is a survivor, she has changed a lot since the last book, she doesn't believe that she is good enough for Jeremiah and Beckett that her past is going to hurt them gets called Angel and sweets by Jeremiah. She can't believe that her sister has forgiven her for what she did. Jeremiah is a ex military man, loves his son the way he is, he will protect Beckett from anyone.Beckett is a very wise young man, he wants Audrey as his mother. Nate is Elizabeth boyfriend, wants Audrey to be happy. Elizabeth is Audrey's sister, loves her sister. Captain Decker is Audrey and Elizabeth's dad, wasn't really there for her after her mother passed away. Nicky is Nate's brother, Beckett's friend. Shelly is Jeremiah's ex wife, wants money to stay away, she is mean. The Jordan's are Beckett's grandparents, moved to be with their son and Beckett, Jeremiah's parents. The Morgan's are Nate and Nicky's parents.
I really loved this story, I loved learning about Audrey's past.I couldn't put this book down. This is the second book in the Torey Hope series. I loved that I could connect to the characters. This is my second book by A.D. Ellis and it most definitely will not be my last. I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

So I knew from the little bit we got about Jeremiah and Beckett in book 1 that i was going to fall in love with them. BUT what I was more curious about was how the author was going to be able to explain , redeem and make us love Audrey. Despite her changes at the end of book 1 I was still very unsure about her. She was a villain , horrible in more ways than one. Challenge was met and all previous thoughts of Audrey were blown out the window !!

This is the story of Beckett and his dad Jeremiah , they are off to a fresh start in the little town of Torey Hope. Beckett suffered many issues from birth because of his mothers neglect while pregnant. This little boy has struggled so much in his young life as has Jeremiah. Now with the love and support of his parents the 4 of them venture off for new beginnings and to let the past go. As we all know you can never escape your past , especially when it is crazy. This story is full of heartache both past and present , second chances , hope , family and true love. Beckett finally finds friends that love him the way he is and also a mother figure that he has never had before. Jeremiah gets a second chance at love and happiness , a chance to finally get it right for him and his son. We also have Audrey who faces the issues of her past so she can overcome her problems and be a better person not just to others but to herself as well. They all gain a new appreciation for family and friends and I love to see them all come together to share in their happiness. At the end of the story we get some glimpses into the futures of these Torey Hope couples ! It is great to see the stories come full circle but also leaves you thinking you could definitely hear more about the time in between and hopes for the futures of the children.

I was very impressed with the authors ability to write characters that we could connect with , or relate to. Many having some very real life issues to overcome. I also enjoyed the multiple POV's. I love to get in every ones head and know their thoughts and make better connections that way. Audrey and Jeremiah both have a heartbreaking story to share and the amount of emotions I felt were unreal. Add to this some crazy ex drama , therapy , haunting pasts and SUPER HOT SEX and we have a WINNER !!

I am so happy to have had the chance to read and review this story.

Because of Beckett (A Torey Hope Novel Book 2) by A.D. Ellis
This is Audrey and Jeremiah’s story. If you haven’t read the first book in this series I would recommend that you do that way you will understand Audrey a little better. You see Audrey is Elizabeth’s sister and you will learn about her in For Nicky. In this story you learn what exactly made her the way that she was. Audrey has some issues that she is trying to deal with and until she can work through her problems she has no desire to date. But that is fixing to change and just maybe she will learn what a relationship is.

But his life is fixing to change and his no relationship rule is about to fly out the window.
When Jeremiah and Audrey meet for the first time the sparks fly and one thing is going to lead to another. But will each of their past destroy this relationship before it ever really starts. Or will their past bring these two people closer together. Find out in this second book of the Torey Hope series.
I will be honest and say that after reading the first book For Nicky and learning about Audrey I wasn’t really sure I wanted to read her story. I really didn’t like her in the first book and I thought that I would really not like her story, but I can honestly say that after I started this book and learned more about her I fell in love with her character. If you are like me and are debating if you want to read Audrey’s story I will tell you to give it a chance I really believe that you will fall in love with her just as much as I did. This story shows you that everyone deserves a second chance and that people can change. If you are looking for a new romance read that is sweet but also hot I would recommend that you read this series. Author A.D. Ellis’s books will change the way that you look at thing and will touch your heart. I’m glad I took a chance on these books because they really touched me and I can’t wait to read more in this series.

We met Audrey in Book one, For Nicky, and well, she surely wasn’t a very likeable character. She was absolutely mean and the things she put her sister, Beth, and Nate through we’re terrible. She was just an all-around mean bully.

Audrey goes to an inpatient treatment center to work through her issues. She certainly goes through a lot emotionally. And we get to see another side of her. Struggling to pull herself together and wanting to become a better person she digs deeps and uncovers painful memories that led her to the person that she became.

This is a very emotional story and the things that Audrey has gone through and still goes through will surprise you. She’s very insecure and is trying to not to use sex the way she always did.

I loved the story line and the supporting characters. It’s a strong message to be learned about the effects of bullying and the emotional state that it can take a toll on someone. There is also great strength in overcoming the things that one becomes accustomed to. And Audrey fights hard and she’s determined not to be that person anymore.

Jeremiah was once ‘that guy’. He was that guy who would sleep around and not give it a second thought. He’s now a single dad to a special needs son and couldn’t be happier with his life and the progress that his son is making every day.

The past comes back with vengeance and love is found in the most unexpected places. I enjoyed this story. The only thing I had a difficult time with was the vocabulary and the way that Jeremiah’s four year old son, Beckett, spoke. It was just not believable to me that a four year old would use such huge words or articulated himself as if it was an adult speaking. It kind of annoyed me to be honest. As cute as the kid was, I just couldn’t connect with him when he was dishing on some serious advice. I mean come on the kid is only four. Other than that they story was great. And I am glad that Audrey got to tell her story.

Because of Beckett takes place at the same time & right after the timeline of For Nicky. It tells the story of Audrey, Libby's sister, and her road to recovery, redemption, healing, and LOVE, of course! Some of her redemption is shown in Libby & Nate's book, but this goes in depth into her horrific past and how she heals.

I love the story, how underneath the bitch of Audrey's past is a sweet, caring, STRONG woman who is a survivor. She & Jeremiah meet under less-than-ideal circumstances, but the sparks are real. The feelings are quick, and they each have reasons for fighting them at first, but there is a special little boy who has a hand in getting them to see how perfect they are together. Once again we have the repeating title phrase, and it is a very strongly pro-therapy, but is done very well.

One thing that sorta took me out of the story & I'm not sure why it was written this way when the first book was multiple first-person POV, but Jeremiah's POV's are third person. It's still written very well, and maybe it was done that way to test out a different writing style, but it just seemed a bit odd. (Not totally odd, as I'm used to that kind of thing from Kristen Ashley, so...yeah.)

OH, and I highly enjoyed the use of multiple POV's at the end of the story. That was super clever & got two thumbs up!

So, all in all, I hope you read For Nicky & Because of Beckett - I do recommend them! : )

We met Audrey Decker and Jeremiah Jordan in "For Nicky"

A chance encounter, second chances, and a little boy who believes in learning from mistakes is all it takes to bring Audrey and Jeremiah together. However, deserving a second chance and taking that second chance are two very different things.

Learning from mistakes and letting go of the past may be easier said than done. Can Audrey and Jeremiah push through the pasts that are haunting both of them or will their romance wither and die under the weight of it all?

This is Audrey's story, she's mean, a bitch and a bully but she wants to fight for a second chance.

Then we meet Beckett, who is the most adorable four year old who is more mature than his years.

I thought For Nicky kept me going Awwwwww but it has nothing on Because of Beckett.

Although this is a story of second chances, romance and how to deal with whatever life throws at you, it has been wonderfully written with the utmost sensitivity towards all the characters and their struggles.

It will move you, touch you and stay with you (especially Beckett) because....like these characters, this story may have some resemblance of a real life event that has touched your life.

The Epilogue was genius, a story all on it's own

Because of Bennett was another great book by A.D. Ellis. The best part of this book was Mr. Beckett. Talking about a charming little fella, he was so sweet and wise beyond his years. He charmed his way into my heart and I think he will take up permanent residentsacy right along Nicky. I was so glad Nicky had a staring role in this story as well. His sweet loving nature captured my heart in the first book and didn't let it go in this one either.
This was a redemption story of sorts, learning to not only love yourself but how to let go of the mistakes you've made in you past and move on. Getting the help you need and keep working on yourself.
A.D. Ellis has a wonderful way of making you care for her characters. You find your self so involved in their story and you want to cry with them. There was once in the book, I was saying... Oh, no she didn't, did she? This book was a little emotional but the epilogue made up for everything.

Don't let all this fill good mushy stuff you read in the previous paragraphs get in the way of letting you think Ellis skipped on the hot scenes. Nope, she has a strong knack for that too. From dirty talk to steamy interlude, Ellis continues with the hard core, ah romance situations.
I hope to see more from this little town!

I give Because of Bennett 5 Platypires
Or stars however you like to count.

I don't know where to begin. I read For Nicky because of a book club and really enjoyed it. I read it in one sitting. Then I saw there was a book 2 and it was about Audrey. I was not sure if I even wanted to read it. If you read book 1, For Nicky, you would understand why. I am so glad I did.

Because of Beckett is a story of second chances, forgiveness, of oneself and others, and learning to love again and being able to move forward. We meet Beckett, a sweet little boy, with challenges, but a huge open heart and his father Jeremiah, who is broken, but moves forward for his son. For and because of Beckett. :)

We also get to know Audrey's back story. Its not a pretty one, but you get to see beneath who she tries to be and why she built such an un-penetrable wall around her. You understand.

The story of Jeremiah, Beckett and Audrey is one of learning to let the past go, give second chances and love again. Its a story you want to read and one that will stay with you. I already downloaded the novella that comes after this an can't wait to be wrapped up in Torey Hope again.

I would definitely recommend both book 1 and 2.

Happy reading.

What an emotional book!!

In For Nicky, we met Audrey Decker, Beth's sister and I for one didn't care for her at all. She was cruel and did anything she could to ruin the lives of those around her but at the end she was forced to address her problems, which brings us into Because of Beckett.

Audrey has been forced into counselling and really is attempting to get herself together. She knows she is not ready for a relationship of any sort. She is working on getting her business party planning busy again since she needs to money for car repairs.

Jeremiah Jordan is new in town and he is hoping the new town will be a fresh start for himself, his son Beckett and his parents. Escaping from a bad marriage he is wanting to start over but is wanting to focus on his son, who has many challenges in life.

After Jeremiah and Audrey meet without knowing who the other one is will they be able to move on or will their attraction lead them to something unexpected? When ghosts from each of their pasts come back will they be able to move on?

I absolutely loved all these characters, especially Beckett!! The strength of this kid is so amazing!! This book was incredible and I loved it!!

WOW! Another 5 Star must read! ... In my opinion this should get 6 Stars as it was even better (just a little :) than the first in this series, "For Nicky" :D ... You would never know this is a newbie author's 2nd book :o ... I know coz I've been reading fiction for over 30 years, and avidly for the past 10 :) ... Not only does it have a great story-line, it has great morals about treating everyone kindly special needs or not, no bullying or violence and giving second chances to those who really do try to change :) ... This shows many facets of love and family and friendship through the bad and good, just like real life! ... Make sure you have the time to read these books coz they are real page turners you just won't want to put down!! ... I am so glad to have found this fantastic new author & can't wait for more of her works!! ... I was given this to read in exchange for an honest review AND I honestly do love both books & would have bought them on my own after reading their synopsis' :) ... You won't be sorry, so hurry and get yours :)

From Nate and Libby's story we have met Audrey and she is a terrible person from the things she does to her sister and others, but this book tells her story and you really understand her much better. Learning to forgive is a really important message. Audrey went thru a treatment for her problems now she is looking to rebuild her party planning business. Jeremiah Jordan has a son that is the center of his world, he was born early and all of his medical conditions scared his mother into running away. Jeremiah has the help of his parents but doesn't trust women. Beckett becomes very good friends with Nicky at the Center and that is a very sweet piece of the story. Jeremiah and Audrey find a way to trust each other and more crazy things happen. I love the extra story about Nicky and how he finds his soul mate. Truly an amazing read.

If you liked For Nicky, give this book a try. It's very real. Author A.D. Ellis, turned an unlikely heroine in to someone I could follow in a believable manner. She didn't sugarcoat the reality. This love story is about accepting the one you love for who they are now. Two people strong enough to let go of the past and move forward. Ellis kept things real by allowing the characters to remain human and not living in a fairytale world where everything is perfect right away. Very relatable characters, and a good book to show that with love, you can begin again. The wrap up at the end of the book was enjoyable, as well. Good to see characters from For Nicky get their further HEA's.
A read that makes you think for days after. Enjoy!

OH MY GOSH! If you thought book one was awesome...then this book will be your next favorite. I love Jeremiah Jordan and his son Beckett. He is such a great character. I was hooked onto this book immediately. This book is Audrey's story...yes we still want to hate her but now we see her grow and become such a fantastic character. I loved how Nate, Libby, Nicky and their lives interact with these characters. The story is so beautiful. It is well written and flows seamlessly from one person to the next. There are some definite surprises in the story as well. This is another great book by A.D. Ellis! I am such a fan!

Another great story with another powerful message, Because of Beckett! This book is not for the casual reader. There are extreme moments in this book and it is a very emotional read.

This book is the story of Jeremiah and Audrey's road to love it is also the story of Audrey's road to recovery. That recovery is a very heartbreaking trip. I ran through the gamete of emotions while reading this story....heartbreaking, harsh, sad, happy, elation, and so many others. This book is well worth the read.

Had read For Nicky and was saddened by the way Audrey was. This story explains what causes Audrey to be the way she is. There are a lot of emotional ups and down in this book also. This book also touched on many different topics. Beckett was mentioned in For Nicky but this was also his story also. Loved all the characters in the book. The author does a wonderful epilogue with the characters at the end. Love this author
