Gina Rogers is in love. She's been dreaming about it for months - not some stupid crush, but the real thing. A relationship. Tony is lovely - always beautifully dressed, and he has his own car. It's nice to be bought presents and fussed over - instead of knowing that your boyfriend's only after one thing. Of course, you can't have everything. Money's got to come from somewhere - so what if Tony's 'business deals' aren't all strictly legit? Stuff does fall off back of lorries, after all ... it's not as if he's into anything serious. Until there's a boy lying half-dead in hospital. And Gina just can't kid herself anymore ....
3.5 stars There were several themes in this book. * Firstly - a 16-year-old girl getting a boyfriend for the first time. * Having sex for the first time, and thinking about contraception. * Racism - people being bullied and beaten up for being black ☹ * Questions over whether it's right to protect someone and give a false alibi, or to tell the truth, be accused of being a grass, and have people hate you.
Usually I don't read things like this but when I found it at school it caught my eye. I loved it ! It's amazing how Anne really shows a good side of the boy and girl together but also shows he's got himself in trouble I'm upset there's not a sequel to it !
I've read a lot of Anne Cassidy books and they've always been mediocre in my opinion. Perhaps they are just outdated, as this is 15 years old, and YA fiction and the world has moved on since. I need to remember not to buy any more.
I love this book I read I more than once I thought the plot was great really inserting always had me on edge could not wait to turn the page and see what was next.
