Klassikaline Kane, kuigi setting pole sedakorda tolmune kuum New Mexico, Arizona või Texas, vaid hoopis Yucatani soine džungel. Maya-indiaanlased on üles tõusnud ja ohustavad parajasti seal uuringuid läbi viivat Ameerika geoloogide rühma, Kane saadetakse neid päästma. Seiklus sisaldab ohtralt palavas soises džunglis sumpamist ja paari räiget vägivallastseeni ründavate mayade ja Kane geoloogide-nunnade kamba vahel, samuti paari imekena daami ning uskumatut pääsemist Kariibi mere piraatide käest. Väga hea!
I had to read this book for my Norwegian class. This was a drooling prose. I did not enjoy most of the characters, especially the main character. When we first meet him, he spends all his time smoking and drinking. This was not a good first impression of Kane. But i really tried to like him trust me but i couldn't. At times i thought he was nice and caring but then suddenly he started to talk about one of the women and he lost most of my respect. I didn't really enjoy all the violins, but people have different tolerances for that. If you enjoyed this book that's fine i just didn’t.
U.S. Marshal Morgan Kane is out of his element here. He's in the steaming jungles of the Yucatan to rescue a group of geologists trapped by a large number of Maya Indians. A U.S. warship has dropped him into a bay where they meet rich adventurer 'Bahama' Jack Delaney who hooks them up with a guide. Morgan has also agreed to Delany to check out a mission with a priest and a few nuns and bring them out.
The geologists have been abandoned by their carriers and hate to abandon their equipment, the priest and nuns have to be forced to leave because they don't believe they will be harmed.
The group gets into a running battle through the jungle in an effort to reach the boats on the river to get back to the bay, then run into the local pirate who's used trickery to get the U.S. warship and 'Bahama' Jack away.
Another entry in the long running Norwegian series, this one the U.K. edition published by Corgi Books.
