I got this one when it was on a free promotion...and to be honest I am glad I did because although it was definitely different, I would not have paid for this type of book. It started out strange (the language used was at times very formal and odd, like it had been written centuries ago and then the author would suddenly use very modern slang terms spoken by teenagers) and although I usually like mysterious and dark, it took quite a long time to get to the heart of the story and by then I had almost given up.
I will say that this one had quite a twist and it just threw me for a loop (I won't say what happens but it was pretty shocking and was probably one of the best things about the the story) and by the time things really start to make sense we hit the cliffhanger ending and it will be another "to be continued" series.
I think readers who enjoy books about the occult, witchcraft and other wordly beings will really enjoy it more than I did...the synopsis really didn't lead me to believe it would be what it actually WAS, and I thought I was getting a dark, erotic romance.
I did find the majority of it interesting enough to keep reading but the unusual style of writing just kept putting me off.
