4.5 SECOND CHANCE STARS!

I loved this. Loved, loved, loved it. Finished last night and I can't stop thinking about it. It was short, not a novella, but a short book. It was emotional, evocative, heartbreaking and ultimately beautiful.
Olivia is a successful photographer that's heading back to the town she spend a significant part of her life, Foster, NY. She's on assignment to capture images of an historic home for a renowned magazine. Problem is, she hasn't been back in years. And for a reason. Jackson Lockewood owns the home. He's the boy she fell in love with all those years ago, and the man that still haunts her broken heart. Something bad happened at that house. Something that affects Olivia till this day. Staying away from Jackson was deliberate. But one week on assignment threatens to change all that.

ONE WEEK

Can Olivia handle seeing Jackson again? He doesn't know what really happened all those years ago, and she wants to keep it that way. But Jackson has other ideas. He's angry and upset. Wanting to rectify the past is the first of his desires, and seeing Olivia again stirs in him things that never really went away. But can Olivia get through this week with him? Can she hold on to her heart long enough to escape repeat devastation?

I can't even explain how much I loved this. It was so emotional, I teared up several times. It's told in Olivia's pov and I honestly felt her pain. She tried to hide behind a veneer of disinterest, but it was taking it's toll. Jackson is also hiding beneath an air of dismissiveness and pride. But his feelings are thinly veiled when it comes to Olivia. The air crackles with attraction and unresolved feelings and reading this I felt it all. I love the way Serena Grey writes. Her Dangerous Man series was great. The relationship between Olivia and Jackson was so affecting, so emotional. And the other thing I loved? The sex scenes were not essays. Condensed steamy scenes are more raw, more evocative, and this was perfect in that aspect.
So why not 5 stars? I needed an epilogue. DESPERATELY. I loved the ending but an epilogue would have tied up loose ends beautifully. An epilogue in Jackson's head would have slayed me. I really wanted to be in his head. Jackson reacted badly to something years ago, something that singularly affected Olivia till now. I wish he had had more faith. And Olivia. When that stuff went down years ago I was screaming for her to say something!!! I can't imagine anyone in her position staying quiet. So those are my minor issues. But despite all that, even considering it all, I LOVED THIS.

I'd love to know more about Nick. He intrigued me. Maybe something with Blythe? That would be so great. Maybe a peak into Olivia's and Jackson's future too? Really looking forward to reading more from SG, loved this.

Yup, pretty much sums this book up.

The story flashes between the past and the present.

Past:

Olivia is new in town, her father works for the Lockewoods who are a prominent family in town. Olivia be-friends Jackson and Blythe Lockewood. Jackson is older 19 to Olivia's 15 (I think). Olivia crushes on Jackson pretty hard.

After the death of Olivia's parents, Olivia moves in to the Lockewood home known as Halcyon. Over the years, Olivia and Blythe become best friends and on Olivia's 17th birthday, she and Jackson hook up.

They keep their relationship hidden, sneaking around. Jackson is in town for his college graduation party when the "big misunderstanding" takes place. Where everything gets blown out of proportion. Everyone over reacts and I just wanted Olivia to spit it out. Tell everyone the truth.

Gah...it was frustrating.

Present:

Flashforward six years. Olivia is now a photographer. She's been asked to photo Halcyon. The house that is filled with so many painful memories from Olivia's past.

She hasn't seen Jackson in the six years since the "big misunderstanding". Olivia never stopped loving Jackson over the years. And despite what happened all of those years ago there's still a strong attraction between the two.

Jackson has been mad at Olivia all these years for what happened. Which made no sense to me....especially since he knew the truth all along.

I kind of felt the ending was rushed...but this was a pretty short book. Not quite novella length, but close. It was a bit on the angsty side.

There were a few steamy scenes....overall it was a decent second chance love story.

Honestly ? Jackson had no right to be angry at Olivia. Actually, I still don't understand WHY he was. There was not one thing in the book that justified his anger toward Livie, not ONE. He was just an asshole incapable of recognizing his own faults and incapable of apologizing, so he took his frustration out on Olivia. I mean, when you are not mature enough to admit that you were wrong and you should grovel back to the woman that you love because you hurt her without reason, you just don't deserve her. And that's exactly how I felt : he didn't deserve her, far from it.

I just didn't understand the hero (and when I say "didn't understand", I mean I kind of hated him).

I enjoyed this...it reminded me a bit of Linda Howard's Shades of Twilight, what with the underprivileged orphan girl being taken in by the well off rich family and subsequently falling in love above her station. The big difference between the two is the length of this one...it's pretty short...and the big misunderstanding was pretty awful. I thought that Jackson believed the worst of Olivia way too easily, not to mention the rest of the family. If I were Olivia, I'd have washed my hands of them too. And for goodness sake

Honestly, I felt that more apologies were in order. Olivia did nothing wrong, imo, but she was villainized for nearly a decade. It's the vindictive bitch in me that wanted to get more groveling, from everyone involved.

The sex was pretty hot, but the sexual tension was top notch.

"Give in to it. Sweetheart," his voice is soft and tempting. "You know you want to."

I lurve me some drawn out sexual tension, and it was delivered in spades here. Another thing that I loved was how Olivia had moved on, pulled herself away from her less-than-stellar beginnings and made something of herself, someone she could be proud of.

Overall, a nice sexy, angsty story for when you want a book you can sit down and read in one night.

Title:Undeniable
Series: No
Author: Serena Grey
Release Date: May 16th, 2014
Rating: 4.5 stars
Cliffhanger:. No
HEA:

I'm a first time reader of Serena Grey and if all her books are as good as this I'm keeping her forever.

Undeniable is the beautifully written story of Olivia Wilder, how she came to fall in love with Jackson Lockewood and everything that happens in between.

The story moves from past to present but just enough to get a back story without being confusing or unnecessary, told from a single POV, I found it refreshing and Olivia was a likeable enough character to tell the story, she portrays such emotion i couldn't help but want to hear it. As successful as she is in her career as a well known photographer, there is is a sadness she carries with her:

It found it a wonderful read for my Sunday afternoon, it was the perfect mix and blend of love, loss, angst, unwavering attraction and steam.

The story is about a young fragile love affair and a second chance. The characters are well-developed in this angsty book.(157 kindle pages) Olivia isn't a strong heroine by any means. She bottled up her emotions and feelings throughout this novel. I have been trying to figure out why she didn't irritate me?! Surprisingly it is a good read for me.

This is how this was for me:

📸 Plus 3 stars for a well depicted h. I was not fully onboard to her way of thinking, but SG's pen painted her well and she inspired me empathy for what she went through.

📸 Plus 1 star for a story that pulled at the heartstrings in some parts.

⛵ Minus 1 star for an incredibly childish H, who took 7 years (and 2 weeks!) to make a move for no valid reason other that he was just navel gazing.

⛵ Minus 1 star for an extremely underwhelming ending: no grovel, no apology, h only giggling and forgetting her 7 years' of misery three seconds after the weak explanations from the H and ultra abrupt ending after the book-long pathos.

In all honesty, this was more of a 4-star read for me. But at this point where I try so hard to squeeze in some reading time in between everything I'm doing, all I need and want is a book that can make me really FEEL. I need a certain read to not waste my time with a meh-kind of storyline. Serena Grey's officially among the authors that I'll watch out for whenever she has a new book. I loved her A Dangerous Man series and Undeniable was a home run for me as well, as short as it may be compared to other full-length novels. And the fact that it hit something in me so hard, which was something that was lacking in the previous books I've read, it merited a five stars.

(Although this book needs some major editing with spelling and grammar. It's a good thing I really didn't let those small errors hinder the emotional aspect of the story.) Go read it!

I'm totally in love with this book!!

It was short, but that didn't dim an ounce of how beautiful it was. It got me hooked right from the start and till the last word! Loved how a few things remained a mystery till the end. Loved how the characters came together in this story.

Again.. it was PERFECT!

And this baby was steamy!

Can't wait to read more of this beautiful work!!

Great job!

Absolutely loved it. What a great read. Loved the movement from past and present, slow movement forward showing how Jackson's and Olivia's relationship had developed and been destroyed all at the same time. Their love for each other is electrifying.
Once started I couldn't put this book down. I was totally absorbed in this story line. Intrigued at the start at what exactly had happened to Olivia, and then how the relationship came about.the sex is sooo hot, and you can feel how they can just not keep their hands off each other!!!

Will be reading this again.

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review, but this has not influence my review!... Fantastic.

Sure Jackson let's pretend it hasn't been seven years since you've seen Olivia, "Jackson steps out of the doorway and walks down the stairs into the sun. His walk is a long loose, and devastatingly sexy stride. He saunters right up to me, and smiles, momentarily disorienting me. "Welcome back Olivia," he murmurs. "How long has it been." You know Jackson took awhile for me to like him I mean the boy is just an a** sometimes, "how easily you dismiss me." He murmurs. "I should warn you that I'm not so nonchalant about your presence here. Frankly I don't know if I want to hurt you for coming back her after everything, or eff you till your body can't take anymore." I must say though I fell in love with him when he took care of business, "...I was so not forgiving when I found out. Carter's beautiful face will always be ruined by a broken nose, and Lindsay," he grins almost malevolently, "I doubt she'll be inviting me over again anytime soon." I really REALLY loved him when he takes care of his girl, "I'm going to run you a bath," he announces, "and get you something to eat, then I'm going to make love to you, in the bath, and on the bed. I promise to make you forget everything but my name, and the feel of my hands on you." I really liked this book about second chances, and was glad the characters got their heads out of their a**es.

It's been such a long time that I stayed up all night just to finish a good book and despite my weary eyes this morning as I write this it was worth every minute of it.

I have read earlier books by Serena Grey and she has truly developed as an author from then until now. From the first page I was sucked in and my eyes didn't leave the page until I finished every last word. The story is well-developed and kept me engaged every step of the way. Loved it!

The story is about Olivia and Jackson, two teenagers introduced by family and it was love at first sight. After years of adoring each other, and brought closer as a result of tragedy these two develop and ever lasting love that is one day acted upon. But jealousy of others and misunderstanding tear them apart. Secrets, mistrust and utter heartbreak is the end result. Can the rekindle what they once had or wounds too deep for this ever-lasting love?

Before you even think about reading this. Let me save you the trouble. This story is about a young fourteen yr. old. She has a huge crush on Jackson who is 4 years older than her. She lives under the same roof because her parents get into a car crash. Her 17th birthday he takes advantage of naive Olivia. All she ever thought about was Jackson. She thinks he's an Angel the way she describes him. By Chapter 10 he's a 21 year old pedophile. Chapter 9 he was a douchebag. Who carries a condom around unless they know they are going to get lucky? Also in Chapter Ten Blythe's boyfriend Carter Felton tries to rape her. Everyone casts blame on Oliva and She never speaks up! I thought before chapter 10 that she did something horrible but all she did was not speak up. Jackson never will deserve her. Oliva was wronged no one else. I don't see any groveling. Oliva deserves better but she keeps thinking about him. I say punch him in the balls and get it over with. What a horrible story. The end.

This book was insanely good! I plowed straight through it over the weekend. It's one of those stories that I wish I could forget, so I could re-start and experience it all over again! It went back and forth between past and present, which gave a good depiction of what led up to their present relationship! OMG! I need my own Jackson! The chemistry between him and Olivia was on fire! There was also plenty of love and hate with secrets between the two. The book cover is most definitely an accurate depiction of what's in the story! The sex scenes were hot! I loved the ending, especially the boat scene! I will definitely be picking up more books by this author!

I really liked this book, enjoyable easy read with not heavy stuff which I am very used to.... not also that dramatic...when I read that blurb I thought that the books is going to be longer with more drama and problems but then again the story is based on misunderstanding so there is also not huge base for a drama queens performances... but still nice read...kinda like sighting trough it all... so cute...

Pretty good.. I love the premise of the story! Childhood crush, Unrequited love, Evil ex girlfriend, Misunderstanding, Second chance romance.. seems like almost everything was in here. :)

It's well written but I just wish it was longer! The last few pages was wrap up way too fast... oh well.

Overall this was a good quick emotional read.

It wasn't a novella but it was kinda short (greedy poor me).
Great writing, even though when I am rating a book it isn't about the writing "quality". My rating(s)-generally- has do to with the emotions that the book elicits, but I think I had to mention that.
Well done Serena Grey.

This book starts out in the present as Olivia is a photographer who’s offered a job to take pictures of the Halcyon estate where she meets again her first love Jackson Lockwood. It turns out Halcyon estate is where she grew up with the Lockwood family once her parents passed away. It was also where her and Jackson Lockwood fell in love and from where she runs away after they have a falling out.

First to the things that I really liked, I loved that I devoured this book. It was a short book but the story grabbed my attention from the start. Also, I liked that there was some good angst and emotional parts. The book is told jumping from present to past. The scenes between Olivia and Jackson in the past have some good angst, as well as their love scenes were sexy and intense and really felt their connection. In the present there was some really great sexual tension as well.

However, as I read along and found out the reason and falling out of why Olivia left I had a bit of eye rolling. I actually thought Olivia had done something bad or made a big mistake. But she really did nothing wrong. It was all a big misunderstanding that it could have been made better or avoided if she would have opened her mouth to say “hey that’s not how it happened. He’s lying” . But all along she just kept quiet whining in her head why nobody asked her side of the story. Ugh! So then in the present 7 years after, Jackson sort of treats her like she still has done something wrong, even though at that point he knows it was all a big misunderstanding. So why in 7 years he didn’t try to go and find her and apologize to her for the terrible ways he treated her in the past was beyond me. I think there should have been more groveling from him in the present. I like that Olivia had a bit more stronger personality in the present and kept pushing him away, but despite that I think their reconciliation and what happened right after it happened too quick that it sort of felt a bit rushed.

Overall, I liked this and enjoyed it, it was a very sexy fast read with some good angst and emotional/intense parts. But I feel it could have been a lot better, at least for me if maybe made a tiny bit longer and with some more grovelling on Jackson’s part.

In full disclosure, I was given an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I could not put this book down. Exactly what I have come to except from Serena Grey. I would have devoured it the first day I downloaded it but then that little thing of life/work, etc got in the way.

Serena Grey has a phenomenal talent for writing smoking hot male characters...smoking hot doesn't really do them justice. Beyond the seductive alpha is more. They draw you in with looks and lust then you find out they have a soft center buried under that hard shell. Funny how while I'm writing this the analogy of a tootsie roll pop comes to mind. ( How many licks DOES it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop? **evil grin**)
I first fell in love with David Preston from 'A Dangerous Man' series. I thought no way she can top the dark yummy man candy that is David Preston-yea, I was wrong.
Jackson is all that and a box of red hots!
It took me a moment to get in the flow of the book just because it vacillates between past and present. But once I was 'in' the book I had a hard time coming up for air. Olivia (Livvie) is a great character-heartbroken-but all in all not a pansy. There were times I wanted her to be a little stronger and walk away or say something that she was thinking; unleash some of the hurt and fury. I adore S.G.'s writing style. It shows without being monotonous. She gives enough description to spark the interest and create a feel for the scene while providing you space to let your imagination take it where you will.
In today's genre of telling me every single detail of a sexual act (I mean seriously people-do you want to know about where the 'after' fluids go?) her story telling is absolutely refreshing.
There were moments in the story that were heartbreaking and I mean broke my heart. The emotions that welled up inside me were incredibly fantastically awful..That's a wonderful thing! I felt Livve's pain, rejection, fear and udder desolation like a pit in my stomach. We readers are a bit masochistic I think ;-)
An amazing stand alone-wish it were longer.

❤︎❤︎Still head over heels for David Preston❤︎❤︎

Undeniable is a story about second chances. The book is divided in two parts so we get to see how Olivia and Jackson first met and how they started their relationship at the same time we see how they meet again after seven years of being apart and what they do to move forward with their lives and their relationship.

Olivia, I really liked her but sometimes I wanted her not to be so weak and to speak what was on her mind. After everyone turned her back on her, she was left alone to pick up the pieces of herself with the help of her two college best friends. I liked that she was strong enough to move on and at the end she was very forgiving.

Then we have Jackson. I really had a hard time liking him, he could be a jerk sometimes, well, most of the time. I really liked him up until the “accident” and then he just became this angry person who wouldn’t listen to Olivia to let her explain. He just decided to believe whatever he wanted and ultimately hurt her and left her alone. I think he was too proud and stubborn to look for her after he learned the truth. Everything would have been different if he hadn’t act the way he did.

The love story of these two was full of misunderstandings and what ifs. And at the end they managed to communicate and tell each other how they have really felt all the time; they gave each other a second chance.

This book is fast paced and it will keep you reading till the end, you will want to know what happens next. I would have liked this book to have two things though: alternate points of view (just to understand Jackson a little bit more) and an Epilogue, because I felt the ending was kind of rushed, so I would have liked to have some closure.

I would like to read more about the characters in this book, especially Nick :) I really liked him!!!

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review

Undeniable is the story of Jackson and Olivia who meet when Olivia is orphaned and comes to live with Jackson and his family. Although young, Olivia immediately falls for Jackson and his charms. After years of secretly wanting him, Jackson reveals he feels the same way and they finally get together, but not for long. We meet them seven years later where they are thrust together through Olivia’s work as a photographer.

I really enjoyed this story and how it developed. The story jumps from present day to past several times as their story builds and although I am not normally a fan of this style of writing, it was essential for the story. The connection between Olivia and Jackson is clearly evident both when they were young and in present times. However, what I really appreciated was my feelings for Jackson. Normally, I am on the side of the ‘hero’ from the beginning but I couldn’t make up my mind whether to love him or hate him throughout. In fact, right up to the very end I still was unsure how I wanted the story to play out. He definitely elicited strong feelings within me (and not just because he is hot!). Olivia I sympathised with, I wanted to shake her in frustration, I wanted her to back down and I wanted her to stand up for herself. In the end, when we learn her full story, I wanted to give her a hug.

Overall, the story is written very well providing glimpses of the main characters past and keeping the reader guessing throughout. There were a few parts that I felt could have been drawn out further but I also sense that the author wanted to keep to the main story without being side-tracked.

I would love to read the story of May and Chace, Olivia’s friend’s, who seem to be complete opposites but are happily married.

Olivia Wilder fell in love with Jackson Lockewood the first time she laid her eyes on him at age 14. She gave him her affection and devotion, and ended up single and grief-stricken with scars that were almost too much to bear.

Fast forward 7 years after graduation, they cross paths again. Jackson is everything she remembers, only more alluring. Underneath his arrogance, his craving to acquire her lights a reaction within her, but she has no longing to reignite their past, or face the anguish of all those years ago.

However, Jackson has no intention of making it easy for her.
