Oblivious to knowing what life is like transitioning from the suburbs to the ghetto, the ambitious, beautiful, young Desiree longs for the life and love she once knew. She becomes intrigued with the fast life and elegant lifestyle that hustler’s girlfriends and wives flaunted. She fails to realize the streets came with an entirely different meaning of stability. She captures the attention of Cee, a handsome, chocolate, hustler, and begins to live out her dreams.
The two form an inseparable bond until Desiree is blind-sided by all the unimaginable obstacles that are involved with being a "down chick." After their fairy tale relationship is compromised, Desiree is left to create a life on her own and ultimately causes bigger problems for herself. Determined to fix her broken home, she sets out to make things right with Cee at all cost. To loyal for me
It was a good read but the things women allow men to do to them is beyond me. I completely understand about how being loyal to your man, but not at the risk of losing yourself. Women need to have their own goals and objectives they wish to achieve first. Loving and being loyal to yourself should come first before any man!!!

Annoying main character, but great message.
Originally I wanted to give this book 3 stars, but the ending and the message that was delivered in the book made me amp it up to 4 stars. This book is about Desiree a "kept" chick, who's in love with Cee, her first love. It aggravates me to see that regardless of what he did to her and how much he broke her heart, she always ran back to him. Desiree had no drive, goals, nor ambition and was dependent on male companionship. I'm happy that she came back to reality in the end although she had to reach her lowest to receive that reality check.

Way to keep me wanting more
Really good. I really became invested in the characters. I found myself getting mad at the main character, Desi, when she'd make bad choices. I really felt for her and I wanted better for her. Once I got into it I couldn't put it down. That's a promising read. I look forward to the next book. I hate a cliffhanger, though. But I'm excited for where their stories continue.

Ugh
Dang she went under all because of a dude. Love will make you do some crazy things but dang she was past doing too much. Hopefully she figure out what she wants in life and just focus on that

Love this book .
5 star's I choose this rating because this book is about life. The thing's some women will do for a man will shockingly surprise you sometimes! This was a real eye opener although Desi went through all of this in the end she has her first love back when she's done her time. Sometimes the ♥wants what it wants. No matter how we may see it only you can make that decision.
