Fans of reluctant heroine, Piper Willow (The Station Series) will be happy to read this novelette about the charismatic Niles Abbott and how he came to arrive at the Station. Told from his perspective, readers get an insight into the inner workings of Niles' mind, and his first experiences in the Station after-life. Who was he before he died, and who is he now? The answers are waiting for you...
'Niles' is the first of three Station Series novelettes to be released this summer!
"I can taste the smells and feel the sounds..." this is just one example of how reading NIles gives us Station fans a greater taste of the Station itself. Detailed description worked into Niles' experience provide a better vision while telling us more about the Series' beloved character.
We get to find out what happened to Edith subsequently and we are treated to a much different kind of 'awakening' as the reader gets to 'hear' Niles' innermost thoughts while he takes in the Station, in denial about how he got there for much of the time. A different take than Piper's and Mallory's and a welcome one.
We also get a brief glimpse into Piper - but only enough to serve as a spoiler. I very much enjoyed getting to know Niles & the Station that much better. Highly recommend.
Inside stories you find little sparkling gems. One of these treasures from The Station Series is the character of Niles. This novella is a nice companion piece to the overall series, giving one of my favorite characters more depth, history, and empathy. Great story! Can't wait to learn more about the other characters later this summer.
As novelette, Niles is all its supposed to be, short and sweet. As a reader, more of Niles' story would have been great, but I guess I'll just have to be patient and wait for the next Station Series book!
Loved this peek at Niles' life and death. So well written and incredibly heartwrenching. I cannot wait for the second novelette Mallory, coming out later this summer!
I really like reading about Niles story and what happened in his life to bring him to the station. now on to read Mallory's story! I love this entire series
Short story about when Niles arrived at the station, and him freaking out because he 'wasn't ready to be dead yet'. He should have maybe considered that before committing suicide.
I'm not a fan of novelettes (because with every story I like I want it to give me more and more details), but I really like the Station Series. This installment in the series isn't as detailed as I would have liked as it delves into the thoughts of Piper's intake specialist, Niles.
Almost everything I learned in the first two books is repeated in the Niles Novelette. It is, however, still intriguing as you'll want to know as much as you can about the Station.
I have read the complete series about Piper and her journey within the station. So reading about how Niles came to the station and his story puts the pieces together.
This is book 4 in the series, but it's actually sort of the prequel to the series. I haven't read/listened to any of the other books so this was just a taste for me...and I liked it...a lot!
The book opens with us experiencing Nile's suicide and when he "wakes" he's at the station - and that's all I'm gonna say about that!
The book is well written, the narration was terrific and now I'm hooked and ready to head back to book one and continue with this - Paranormal? Sci-fi? Afterlife? Series... I'm not really sure what it is, but I liked it!
I received this book free of charge in exchange for an unbiased review
This is a short novelette with backstory on Niles from the Station Series.
I really enjoyed this quick read about Niles. But I would read the series first before I read this, because I don't think much of it would make a whole lotta sense.
Having said that, this is a book that actually reads pretty well. (I can't say that about a lot of novelettes.) It makes me excited to read the next two in the series: Mallory and Kerry-Anne.
