While Zavier Sullivan may be the calm, reserved brother, his dragon is not. Especially since the beautiful, unorganized demi-goddess, Danielle Roberts—a.k.a Elle—moved into the mansion and into his life. She disturbs his OCD and makes him yearn for things he shouldn’t, but he can’t stay away from her. Nor can he deny her anything. Including his blood.

Ever since arriving at the home of the Sons of War, Elle has been plagued with dreams of the past and future. The visions are taking a toll, causing her debilitating headaches and ruining her sleep, but she doesn’t know what it all means. Her mother, Nyx, the Goddess of Night, has never bothered to show up and explain things to her. Until she arrives and unlocks Elle's powers, promptly transforming her into a half-daimon, half-goddess. Now, Zavier may be her only hope of holding onto her humanity, but can she bond with him after everything she’s seen? Especially in the midst of everything the Sons and their mates are going through.

Chaotic War is book three in the Sons of War series by Lia Davis. This series does need to be read in order as each story builds on the other and the plot thickens as we move along.

I was very excited to read Chaotic War after finishing Ashes of War. The plot had thickened and the build up for Zavier and Danielle throughout the first two books was wonderful done, but sadly their relationship in this story was lacking.

It's an exciting, quick, and fast-paced read. The storyline seemed unnecessarily rushed. The characters didn’t feel as developed as the past two and the romance felt week, even with the build up throughout the books. We do get to learn about Danielle a.k.a Elle, but what we learned went by way to fast. I would have liked to dig deeper into her heritage. I liked Zavier, but we learn nothing about him or what made him who he is. In Ashes of War we get inside Ty, but here nothing.

I was disappointed in how short this story turned out to be. It’s only 80 pages compared to the first to stories that top over 200 pages. I thought when I bought this I was getting a full length story and then I read it in no time and go “oh that was short."

Chaotic War was an ok read, but it needed to be longer to help the storyline and characters develop more. I wanted to love this one, but couldn’t. I will be check out the next book; since the set up for our next character has me intrigued. Hopefully we get more.

This novella is a must read series for anyone who enjoys paranormal dragon shifters, greek mythology, a rebellion threatening the status quo all mixed together with romance! What an enticing concoction!

Zavier Sullivan is usually the cool, calm, collected brother . . . with a touch of OCD regarding organisation and tidiness. His dragon, however, is anything but after Danielle Roberts (Elle) has moved in but so far refused to be mated with him despite their mutual magnetic attraction. Now as her dreams sometimes reveal past events and at others foretell frightening future ones but all leave her with debilitating headaches. As she comes to her powers, she’s about to be tested. Will she be found wanting? Can she help prevent the disastrous events foretold in one of her dreams and save her love?

This is a short but action packed novella. It is the third in the series and does work as a standalone - I haven’t read the earlier stories in this series yet. However, this does mean that the characters don’t have time to be as well developed as in other books I’ve read by this author. Despite this, the plot is a page turner and I really want to know what happens in the sequels to this one!

Thanks to Barclay Publicity for providing an ARC of this novella in exchange for my honest review.

Here's another twist about gods and goddess of Ancient Greece. I've read Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter Series and it's all about different gods and goddess of the Ancient Time but with Davis's Sons of War focuses on the Ancient Greek gods and goddess and I love it. It's fun to read different authors with the same theme but different plot line and story line. Also this is about Ares's sons and they are the main focus in this series. I can't wait for the 4th book to come out and I'm hoping that Garrick will have his own book as well even though he's the villain....

Ok I have issues with this book!
1. Way too short and the characters weren't developed like the past two.
2. No steamy love scenes over in a paragraph
3. It does not say it is a novella.
4. They are going to charge as much as the second full fledge novel!
5. I know it is an ARC but lots of formatting issues!

I am severely disappointed! I loved the story line and couldn't wait to hear Elle's story. It was good, but again under developed and way too short. I like Zavier, but we learned nothing about him or what made him who he is on the inside like we learned about Ty and Markus.

The publisher has to be honest and say it is not a full novel and there is no way in heck they should be charging that much for it! I really want to love this one but couldn't. I will check out the next book though because I love the characters and plot. I hope this was just a fluke!

I received an ARC from the publisher and NetGalley for a honest review.

Chaotic War
Sons of War Book 3
by Lia Davis
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I received this ARC of this book to read and give my opinion in a honest review.

What a SPECTACULAR storyline! This is book 3 in the Sons of War series by Lia Davis. I love reading Lia Davis books and she has never written a book or series I haven't enjoyed or one I have been disappointed in and I have read and bought a lot of her books. She is also one of my favorite authors, she is so creative that makes for a very talented writer. Oh My! This how entertaining it is! Once I started reading this story there was no way I could put my tablet down. This is a well-written book and It's a great addition to the series. The characters are strong, lovable and fascinating. Every scene was told with a vivid detail drawn out for me in words and I could imagine each one with clarity. I am enthralled with the characters. Lia Davis always capture me with her story telling . I could feel every emotion she wanted me to feel. You can read the research she put in for the characters of her books and it's in her creative writing. I recommend book and series for anyone who has a great love for paranormal romance that's so thrilling!

Zavier Sullivan is a sexy, handsome dragon shifter, he is usually calm and reserved brother. But Elle gets under his skin. She makes him feel and want things he shouldn't want. But he can't stay away from her. Nor can he deny her anything. Including his blood.

Danielle (Elle) Roberts, the demigoddess moves into the mansion with Zavier. Since arriving at the home of the Sons of War, Elle is having disturbing dreams of the past and future. Her visions are causing her have very bad headaches and
She isn't sleeping well, but she doesn’t know what it all means.

This is a Fantastic Read. If you are looking for a Spectacular paranormal book then you need to read this book. You don't want to miss this book! This is a great book to add to your TBR list. I'm so excited about reading the next book this series. I highly recommend this book.

If you believe in the world of paranormal romance, the possibilities are endless and fascinating!

Cliffhanger???

OK, I said I wasn’t going to read this because it wasn’t worth my time but if you ever want to know if they kill Garrick, or send him to hell, you have to keep reading. I don’t know for how long but I won’t be waiting long. I love all these dragons but I WILL give up on them. I don’t mind reading books like this as long as the books are all available but these ARE NOT. They’re not cliffhangers but each book leaves you hanging as to what will ever happen to Garrick.

I must say this was definitely my least favorite. I liked Zavier and Elle but there just wasn’t enough of one story. With only 80 pages (or less) everything happens in a hurry and then you move on to the next thing and solve that in a hurry then move on again.

There was a sex scene in this story that was just OK, nothing special.

There was swearing and the F-bomb was used 13 times.

As to the narrator: Didn’t like Michael Ferraiuolo all that much in this story. He did read with emotion but Zavier’s voice was way too feminine for me. Zavier was more girly than most of the women.

As exciting as I was to read this book I must say I was a little disappointed. I was super stoked because of how things ended in Ashes of War. The plot had thickened getting us prepare for Zavier and Danielle ( Elle) throughout the first two books so I was expecting this epic love story. First of all this was too short of read also things seem rushed. I didn't feel like I learn anything about Zavier like we did with his brother. One things I like was that we got to learn a little bit about Elle (daughter of the Goddess of Night Nyx) heritage. Even that seem rushed to. Overall this was a quick read it could've been better but I'm still looking forward to seeing what else is in store for this series. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.

As exciting and action-packed as this story is, Chaotic War is definitely not one to read out of sequence. Very little effort was made on the part of Lia Davis to develop the characters for readers new to the series. Moreover, the storyline seemed unnecessarily rushed, leaving the characters’ behavior mercurial, to say the least. For an otherwise great read, it is most unfortunate that these elements leave readers floundering to piece together the history of prior Sons of War novels only to have the story end abruptly and without a clear conclusion. As I have not read the preceding stories in the Sons of War series, I can only presume that these issues would not present a problem if read in the author’s intended sequence.

This was really good, there was some points I did not understand but that is common when you jump into a series. Was interesting to see Eros/Cupid as a evil person. I do hope that the next book is coming soon. I need to read the other 3 soon. I really enjoyed her Ashwood falls series.

I liked the connections between this book I haven’t read the previous books in the series but it was an easy pick up I’ve had this on myself for awhile but I really enjoyed this and I think I will carry on reading some books by this author as I love the way she read characters the interactions and the complexity of the storyline and how the characters didn’t change in a very consistent with who they were

Chaotic War by Lia Davis
Book #3: Sons of War Series
Source: Purchase
My Rating: 4/5 stars
My Review:

Zavier Sullivan is by far the calmest, most chill of the Sons of War. Oh, he still has a dragon lurking inside but even his dragon is pretty chill for, you know, a dragon. Zavier’s role among the Sons is to rock the computer, do the deep searches, keep the information flowing, and keep the finances for the household in order. Make no mistake, when there’s a battle to be fought, Zavier is by his brothers’ side and just as fierce as they are but it isn’t quite as easy to ruffle Zavier’s scales. And then Danielle (Elle) Roberts showed up on his doorstep.

Elle is Gwen’s adopted sister and the two have been a package deal since they were kids. Like Gwen, Elle is a Descendant and until just recently, Elle thought her link to the Olympians was far less than Gwen’s. Turns out, Elle is one powerful being and as a daughter of Nyx, the extent of her powers, once they are released will be terrifying and tremendous. Until her powers are unlocked, Elle spends her days and most of her nights avoiding sleep, because in sleep come the dreams and the dreams are terrifying visions of the past, present, and future. To deal with her dreams and visions, Elle paints and her current studio is a shared space with Zavier Sullivan.

Elle and Zavier make each other crazy!! Where Zavier is highly logical and anally organized, Elle is artistic, creative, messy, and decidedly unorganized. The two are like oil and water on many levels but where it counts, they are perfect for one another and each other’s fated mated. Before they can get to the good stuff however, here’s what they have to get through:
1. Gary’s continued shenanigans which involve kidnapping and abusing Descendants in his bid to take over Olympus
2. Elle’s mother, Nyx makes a rare appearance and damn-near kills Elle when she unlocks her powers and
3. In order to keep her visions from becoming reality, Elle has to visit Hades and get a super-special dagger from a crazy demon
No problem, right??

The Bottom Line: The highlight of Chaotic War is Elle. Though her hesitancy to mate Zavier makes me a tad crazy, that’s the only thing about her I don’t like. Elle is incredibly powerful and once her mother explains all that comes with being her daughter, Elle truly becomes a force to be reckoned with. I do so love a terrifyingly powerful female  Zavier is kind, sexy, and generally relaxed until the moment Elle is threatened. Between Zavier’s dragon and Elle’s super-badass powers, most of the awful in this read is nullified by these two! My only complaint about this read is its overall length. The other two dragon pairings, Gwen and Markus and Ash and Ty were full-length reads and I really would have enjoyed more of Elle and Zavier’s story. With that being said, I am still quite happy with this series and can see so much potential for future installments.

CHAOTIC WAR by Lia Davis

Zavier Sullivan may seem to be the calm and reserved brother but his dragon is not, especially when it comes to his mate. When Elle moves into the mansion she causes chaos in his life, not only does she disturb his OCD but she is stubborn. Yet he can't stay away from her, can't deny her anything, including his blood. Can she help him and his fellow warriors along with their mates, fight the evil that threatens their lives and happiness.

Danielle Roberts or Elle as she's known is a demi-goddess and is plagued by dreams of the past and future. The visions cause her debilitating headaches and sleepless nights. She has no idea what the extent of her powers are as they have never been explained to her by her 'Goddess of the Night' mother, Nyx. Until she arrives and unlocks Elle's power, prompting her transformation. Zavier is the only one who gives her hope of holding onto her humanity, but can she bond with him after everything that's happened. Especially now with everything that is going on with the Sons and their mates.

Can Elle change the future that was predicted in her dreams, or will the enemy succeed in destroying their lives.

This is the first book I've read in this series, and it's an interesting concept. To some degree things were a little confusing, but it was still fairly easy to figure out the 'logistics' of the storyline. This is quiet an intricate story with lots going on and it has been put together well. It was captivating and different, and the characters are likable. There is loads of potential for this series and can't wait to read Seth and Rayna's book. However I do have a few issues, firstly it felt a little rushed at times and secondly I do realise that each story sort of runs into the next one but the conclusion could have been more definitive. Otherwise overall it was a very enjoyable read!

Zavier is the calm and collected brother. He loves order and neatness...major OCD!! And he's about to go crazy sharing a space with Elle.
Elle is the complete opposite of Zavier. As an artist who draws/paints from the visions she sees, she loves the chaos and disorder of her area. Her brushes may be everywhere but she knows where they are if she needs them. But Zavier keeps hanging them up in size order. She may have to hurt him.

They keep circling around each around while slowly the mating urge rises between them. Neither is sure they need a mate but can they really fight the fates?? And then the goddess Nyx (Elle's mother) arrives and decides to awaken Elle's powers. Will Elle be able to get a handle on her powers? Will she and Zavier finally give into the mating urge? Will they be able to defeat their enemies and save the innocents? Read this book and find out for yourself. You won't be disappointed!

I've been waiting (im)patiently for the 3rd book in Lia Davis' Sons of War series, and in my opinion, Chaotic War was worth the wait! She does a great job with the characters and the storyline. And I love how Ms. Davis has the main characters of this book (Zavier and Elle) but still brings in the other characters from the previous books. This way you get to see what is going on with everyone as they continue to fight against Gary as he tries to carry out his evil plan.

I actually squeed when I knew this one was being written. I also did a little research on Nyx who is in this one also so as to get a better picture of Elle in my mind for me. She also blends a little humor in both characters Zavier and Elle as things begin and progress in this one. She could not have been a better match for him OCD meets disorderly. Could after all of the things that need to be taken care of a balance for them. She also is about to come into her self thanks to her mother Nyx whom is not like most. What a women won't do for the man she loves is clearly shown in here. Funny to how when you meet your mate or perfect half stubbornness always seem to have a moment. You will be taken on quite a journey in this one a shown just what she can do and where she goes to get what she has too. The others also aide when possible but now one is pregnant. As you read this one you really want them to get the drop on Garrick that you can almost taste it yourself. The confrontations she has too are ones that had me forget where I was and time for a moment so that is good writing. Being together will not come easy for these two because of what must be done first. When her visions are always forefront for her she will do what comes naturally for the one you love at the end. The edginess will be worth it that you are driven too when you see how it turns out but there is still lots to come I would say for them all.

Calm amidst the Chaos

Be sure to read books 1 and 2 first ;) In Chaotic War the search for Gary continues and the Sons of War and their mates continue their battle. Many new gods to meet and powers to test. Though some would say the setting is more fantasy than romance, I have no trouble following it and love this series!! And now a bit about the story...

Markus has Gwen, Ty has Ash, and now it is Zavier and Elle's turn! But with the visions Elle is having the story could be over veggie l before it gets stated. Gary is out to kill Zavier and she must stop it, but how? And though she knows he is her mate, is that enough??? Can she grow to love the dragon....

Favorite passage: “I’ll take what I can get.”

Chaotic War by Lia Davis is 4th book in her Son's of War series. It feels like we waited a really long time for this book. While I'm thrilled with the story I must say it was way too short. It was such a quick read that it felt more like a novella than a novel. After waiting so long for its release I'd hoped for so much more of the story to unfold. Having said my peace on the length of the book I'll move on. In Chaotic War, we get to Zavier and Elle's story. Zavier has known Elle was his mate for quite some time but had been giving her time to adjust to all the changes in her life. Elle is so overwhelmed by the visions of the past, present and future that she seems almost paralyzed in her fear. She's drawn to Zavier but after seeing his death in one of her visions she afraid to get closer to him. Garrick is the crazed son of War. Garrick has decided to destroy all the gods and take the throne of Olympus for himself. He is the one Elle sees killing Zavier in her vision.
Can Zavier convince Elle to become his mate? Will Garrick succeed in killing Zavier and the gods? Will the Sons of War be able to find their mates, stop Zavier and save the gods? What will Elle become when her powers are unlocked? Some of these question will be answered in this book but I'm not going to spoil it for everyone that waited to finally get the next book. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.

Zavier is a dragon and Elle (Danielle) is his mate, although they have not gone through the mating process yet. Elle is part human.. Her change is coming soon and she doesn't want to mate until she knows what she will become. She does care about Zavier and would never harm him.

Elle has dreams that disturb her greatly. She sees death and destruction and has even seen Xavier being stabbed in the heart. When she has a dream and wakes up she paints her dreams.

Elle has been asked to retrieve 2 special daggers from someone with evil intent. Will she and Xavier survive this and finish their mating....and be happy?

This is a novella, a quick read. I have read this author before and I like her writing. It has a nice flow to it. I just felt like I needed a bit more info about the characters this time though. More of the focus seemed to be on Elle and I don't think I learned anything about Zavier.

I do like the respect that Elle and Zavier have for one another. He is a bit protective(as a big dragon would!) but her thoughts, feelings and ideas have merritt.

Although this book missed the mark for me, I did like the characters. I just need a little bit more about the characters.

I liked the characters of Elle and Zavier--Ms. Davis gave us plenty to look forward to with these two in the first books of the series--but I really wish that we'd seen more of them here! This is one novella-length story that really could have benefited from a higher page count. It almost felt as if there was more Elle/Zavier back-and-forth banter in the other two books (from what I remember, anyway) than in this one!

Still, what we have is fun to read--the overall series plot advances nicely, and the next book in the series is set up for us by the time this one ends. There isn't quite enough background information to make this one work as a standalone--it's been a while since I read book #2 ( Ashes of War ) and I felt a bit behind times at first--I'd definitely recommend reading the books of this series in order.

Things are left up in the air for the good guys at the end--hopefully the next book in the series will follow soon!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Full disclosure - I joined this series already in progress and it might have helped if I had read these books in order. That being said, this book was still interesting and unique, with some fun little twists on familiar myth.

The story in this book pretty much revolves around the reluctant mating of Zavier (a pretty reserved dragon shifter) and Elle (a messy, disorganized demi-goddess). These two are determined to ignore the undeniable need and attraction between them until Elle is forced to accept her goddess heritage. While going through the changes, these two take a giant leap into "mated for life" and have to deal with the sexy sexy consequences.

There is also a larger story at play that involves an estranged brother and his evil machinations. Oh, and we also get the setup for a rather tragic love story for another of the "sons of war" in the process. While I can see where the story might head, we are definitely not nearing the end yet. If you're up for a quick ride into chaos (and sexy times), this is a book worth checking out.

Zavier Sullivan is usually the calm, reserved brother but his dragon is not, especially since Danielle Roberts moved in and disturbs OCD and makes him yearn for things he shouldn’t in this thrilling paranormal romance.

Elle has been plagued with dreams of the past and future and they are taking their toll especially as she doesn’t know what it all means and the reader can’t help become enraptured as Zavier and Elle come together amidst the chaos of the fight against Garrick and the unlocking of Elle’s powers. Lots of sizzling chemistry heats up the pages along with lots of thrilling excitement as both Elle and Zavier struggles with their bonding while dealing with some unexpected twists that adds a bit of mayhem to the battle in this well written, fast paced and smooth flowing plot full of suspense, excitement, romance and strong bewitching characters that demand every bit of the reader’s attention.

I was completely taken with Zavier and Elle’s story from the very beginning as it immediately drew me in and refused to let go, of course the Sons of War series tends to do that so I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

Great story. I'll have to go back and read 1 & 2. Elle is trying to stay away from Zavier. She keeps dreaming about his death. The Sons of War are trying to get Blair back from Garrick. They succeed but aren't so lucky when they go for her sister Rayna (Seth's mate) Garrick gets her. Elle's mother Nyx shows up and unlocks Elles powers. Can't wait for more. I would like to hear more about Zander too.
I was given an ARC for an honest reivew.

Chaotic war is the 3rd book in Lia Davis's Sons of War series. I did feel reading the previous 2 were imperative to understanding what all was happening in and behind the scenes of this book. Lia Davis did an admirable job of getting anyone who may not have read the first 2 books caught up but it took a while and the reader was still missing a few things. Besides reading the first two books wont be a hardship!

Lia Davis captured me with her story telling and the amazingly vivid details she uses kept me enthralled. Every scene was told with almost every detail drawn out for me in words and I could imagine each one with clarity. I was also able to feel with empathy almost every strong emotional scene. I loved all the research she had to have put in for these books and it shows in her writing. I recommend this book for any who love a good paranormal romance with some dragons!

This is the 3rd book to the Sons of War series. This book is about Zavier, a dragon shifter and Elle (Danielle), daughter of the Goddess Nyx. Zavier and Elle share work space in the mansion. Elle paints the past and future but at a cost (headaches and sleepless nights). Then the Goddess of the Night Nyx shows up to release Elle powers and Zavier helps her through the transformation. Read what happens to Zavier and Elle and the fight ahead of them.
What a GREAT book! I really enjoyed reading about Zavier and Ella. This is a great addition for the Sons of War series.

**I received this as an ARC book for a honest review.

The fight to defeat Garrick continues with Elle and Zavier finally getting their hands on the blade and keeping it out of Garrick's reach. Lots of action to keep things interesting with enough sexiness to keep you sweating. I love the paranormal/fantasy aspect of the books with the vivid description of Elle's changes after she comes into her powers. The characters' temperaments complement each other which makes their relationship successful. I love reading the progress they're all having in getting closer to taking down Garrick. A great addition to the Sons of War series that leaves you anxiously awaiting the next book.

Magical and sexy! I can't get enough of these dragons. As always, I love the combination of Greek mythology and paranormal romance; it makes for a unique series. Chaotic War is a quick read but is also endlessly entertaining. I wish these were longer so I could be immersed in the world for longer, but I will take what I can get. Lia always does a great job ending these stories with the perfect amount of closure and suspense for what will come in the next installment. I love this series and cannot wait to read more! These are a must read for fans of paranormal romance with a unique twist!

Great Novella!
This is a great book; this is the third book in the Sons of War series by Lia Davis. Zavier Sullivan is a dragon shifter, when Danielle (Elle) Roberts, the demigoddess moves into the mansion she disturbs his OCD tendencies and well as realizing that they are mates. If you are looking for a great paranormal novella then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author.
