All Legend had to care for in his life was his twin sister, Kassandra. They did everything together, including various jobs for the Titans who were their creators.
That is until Legend meets Symphoni. Strong, beautiful and extremely difficult, Legend finds himself wanting to know more and more about his new enemy. But as they get closer, his loyalty is tested and he must choose between his family and the woman he loves.
With Obsession Comes The Ultimate Betrayal. Will Legend be able to sacrifice everything for Symphoni?
T.M Scott loves writing. With passion, drive and a taste for the unusual, she enjoys reading and writing new and different things. Doing her best to always think out of the box, her writing usually starts off as an insane scheme of some sort before she works out the finer aspects and turns it into something great! Her heroines and heroes are never the typical 'beautiful' people, meaning they all have some sort of quirk or oddity about them that makes them unique and refreshing characters everyone can relate to.
Her first novel, Symphoni, will be out in 2013 and her work has been featured in the horror anthology, The Withering Darkness. She lives in Los Angeles, California with her daughter Ariyanna.
This short little read was an ok book. It wasn't horrible and it wasn't great, it was just ok. So let's talk about the characters, I just didn't get Legend. What was his story? What was his purpose? I mean who was he, why did he go by Legend instead of Sethos? So many questions. And Symphoni was the same way. You hardly know anything about her and what her deal is. Not really having any info on these characters really drove me nuts. I am kind of at a loss on how to feel about them. I mean of course Legend sounded hot and Symphoni was spunky, but that was it. Heck the same could be said about Legend's sister, Kassandra. Sigh.
And I guess the same could really be said about the story. I mean I really had no idea what was going on half the time. So much was missing from this story. I will point the stuff out again, who were the characters, what was going on half the time, what was the reason that Legend first started stalking Symphoni? Why was she training so hard and exactly what are Legend and Kassandra? They aren't Titans and they aren't Olympians, so what are they? I mean the story seemed like it would of been really goo if there wouldn't have been so many holes in it. And let me be completely honest here, I would live a much happier life if I never see these words again, "hazel eyes". The author used these words 21 times, yes that's right 21. Ahhhh! I know that it seems like I am mainly complaining but I will say that this was a neat story that had some interesting ideas. Plus, I am a sucker for a story that involves Greek Mythology. Oh and I really didn't get the end, so now I will definitely be reading the next book in hopes of getting some much needed answers to all my questions.
My song for this book: Passive by A Perfect Circle.
I know that contradictory to the rating, I actually did enjoy this little Novella. My main problem was that it was too rushed. There we're too many holes and not enough detail. There's this great plot just simmering beneath the surface but we never really get what's going on.
WHO exactly is Legend? What are his powers? His purpose? His sister's? It's all so vague. They're not Titans, not Olympians, but they're immortal. Then, what's the deal with Symphoni? His headaches/losing himself. What's the point of the journal entries? They tell us the same things just being in his head gives us. These are questions that plagued me while reading and held me back from fully immersing in the story. I mean, I realize there are other books out there, but TM Scott brought a lot of these issues up in THIS one, and that needs to be addressed.
I do love Symphoni's character. And Legend, I can't riddle him out. He us so hot and cold. And one minute he hates her, the next he's in love with her with absolutely no reasoning; he doesn't question how or why. He just decides 'mine' I can't live without her. Yet, she seems unfazed, so i can't contribute it to some godly mating mechanism....
At times they'll seem normal, the next ethereal and truly godlike, looker they've lived and seen lifetimes. Then at a moments notice even their dialogue changes, their tone, into something more immature and colloquial.
The foundation for a plot is there, the skin and bones of character too--but where's the meat? They need to be plumped. The essence is there in every aspect. It just needs to be developed. Have the time taken to actually give us more details, full accounts if what is going on. See the friendship blossom between Symphoni and Legend instead of just being told.
This book was a bit confusing for me. I liked it, but at the same time, there were parts of it that I didn't like as well. I'm going to try to go over both aspects as well as I can.
Liked - I really liked the creativity of the story itself. I found the whole Titan storyline interesting, and I really enjoyed Legend's sister. I found the fact that she couldn't speak without dire consequences very interesting and unique. I felt Symphoni was a fantastic character with a very great moral standing. Out of all of the characters, she's the one I enjoyed the most.
Disliked - I really found the fact that Legend kept calling Symphoni female very annoying. I'm not normally a feminist, but this really got on my nerves and made me want to go burn a bra for antisexism. To each their own, I suppose. I also felt that the travels were so rushed. One minute the couple is in Paris, the following they were in Egypt, etc etc. It's as if they never stopped to smell the roses, no matter how much Symphoni claimed to love each place. I really feel that this traveling time could have been more elaborated and made it easier to relate to the characters.
I did have some problems relating to the characters overall, but I did find the story interesting and intriguing. I'd definitely give the second book a shot, just to see if it would smooth over the things that irritated me in the first.
I won this book recently at a facebook giveaway and I was happy to get a chance to read it when it was picked as the book of the week for the great new book club I joined (Amazing Authors + Rad Readers = Awesome Reviews). I am glad it was picked as it was a quick, fun, enjoyable read and an interesting introduction to what I believe will be a very cool series. I am also very glad I won Symphoni (book one in the series) because my intersted has been peaked and I want a full length look at Legend and Symphoni. I didn't really connect with Legend mostly I just felt sorry for him, he is so broken and I guess I just really want more on his back round to understand why he is so lost. I was very curious about Symphoni and all her power but I loved her spunk and firm belief in loyalty she is someone I would like to have in my corner. I absolutely love Greek mythology and I think this might be a neat take on it, but I didn't get as much on that part of it as I wanted but I am hopeful it is yet to come and I can guarantee I will be reading in to find out cause I am reeled in for sure. Overall I enjoyed this novela and I am very excited to enjoy the rest of this series.
This is before Symphoni. Not long before but before nonetheless. When I read Symphoni I was like Legend Ugh! I mean really he was the jerk who stole Greg’s girl. But then Greg hooked up with Symphoni and I still was all, Legend UGH! He seemed so robo jerky to me. So when talking to T.M. Scott who ive only gotten to know since reading Symphoni and all I can say is where have you been all my life darling! She told me about the novella for Legend and I was like yeah I want to read it. Legend wasnt my favorite kind of jerk but a jerks a jerk and I hoped their would be a little more sarcasm and humor to him because thats how I like my jerks. Only I didnt get that at ALL.
What I got was a softer more human Legend. I mean hes obviously not human but he was relateable. He had feelings beyond what we saw in Symphoni and its almost heartbreaking looking back. Scott did a wonderful job of adding character and dimension to Legend. As a novella of course it was a fast read made only faster by its sheer awesomeness..
I grew up with Greek mythology stories, so if you give me a modern day Titans vs. Olympians war, I'm all in. Legend was an OK read, but too fuzzy to get me really into it. Legend and Symphoni make a strong pair, they might have even had a beautiful story, but it felt more like Legend/Sethos being severely friendzoned, with the exception of occasional kisses that he did or did not get smacked or glared at for.
The conflict does not need explanations as far as I am concerned, Titans and Olympians don't make very good friends, we all know that. But I finished the read not knowing who the characters are, what their powers are, and what their roles are. A lot of questions might turn out to be great and urging you to buy the next book, but when it gets to the point where you're wondering what the heck you are reading, it might be a bit too much.
While I deemed this book as being just ok, the idea of the series is interesting and I do want to see what happens in Symphoni.
I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review. This is the prequel to T.M. Scott's debut novel Symphoni. I enjoyed this story because you get to see the Titan side of things. Also it shows the history that Legend and Symphoni have. Plus you meet more characters, and I haven't decided if all of them are good or evil yet. As the reader, I felt lead on because you could cut the sexual tension with a knife, and the two main characters would be making out and such and you get all excited that they are going to seal the deal and BAM!!! They stop right before anything juicy happens. When I got to the end of the book things were said that made me think that crazy things will be happening in book two!!! And I can't wait!!!
It is rare for me to rate a book 2 stars, but although I found the book was easy to read, I was confused...I think like others I didn't understand what the heck was going on. I don't know why Sethos was sent to watch Symphoni...I didn't understand the fuzziness he was feeling nor did I get the end. I think this book should be read after book 1 and not before because it just left me baffled about the plot. Sethos became obsessed with Symphoni, yet he stated he hated her on sight. She on the other hand only thought of him as a friend for most of the book. And she was extreme when it came to trust...she wrote off her sisters, then writes him off too. I'm just not sure what I was supposed to get out of this book.
I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review. First, you don't have to read this in order to read the first book, Symphoni. Although it does help. I read Symphoni first, and it was a very good book. This novella, is about one of the main characters, Legend. It goes way more in depth, more detail, more emotion. it shows you a different side to Legend. it was a quick read, but I thoroughly enjoyed, and can't wait to read more. I loved that it showed the history between Legend and Symphoni, it cleared up what happened between them as var as parting ways. in all honesty, I don't read novellas, I'd rather just read the books, but I am glad I read this one.
More, More, More, I know, it's probably never going to be enough. If you've read Symphoni, who is an (Olympian) and then Legend, who is a (Titan), you will know what I'm talking about. Without giving too much away, Legend and his writings, explain his feelings towards Symphoni and helps the readers understand him and his motivations towards her. T.M. Scott is very creative in weaving another fast reading, action packed book. I hope there is more to come from this author, I will read every one of the Eros Sisters novels. If you like stories about the Olympians and Titans I suggest you read Symphoni and Legend (The Eros Sisters Series)!
I wanted to like it, I really did. I just had a difficult time with the story. Maybe I didn't quite like the flow, I'm not quite sure how to explain it. I also had a hard time getting past Cronus vs Kronos (I'm used to seeing it with a K, and both spellings are correct). Maybe it would have helped if I had read Book 1 first, since this came out 2nd. I don't know. I really like Greek mythology, and I loved how the author used real names for the Titans & Olympians (even though a couple were made up). I will read Book 1, as now I need to what was going on (I need the bigger story) and Book 1 sounds like it will be a lot better. :)
I enjoyed this novella. It stayed true to the story from one person's point of view and didn't get lost by trying to jump between characters.
I wanted to know more about the power that Symphoni has and wondered if she was inadvertently using her Aphrodite powers over Legend. It was clear how he was enamored by her and simply couldn't be whole without her.
Legend's "madness" makes me glad I am not immortal, and makes me desire to know more about Greek mythology and lore. I wonder how things will play out for them in Symphoni?
This book takes place before Symphoni. This book goes more in to the character of Legend, his feeling and emotions. I found this book enjoyable and a quick read. I have not read symphoni so I don't know if some of the questions that this book left me with will answered. I feel like they were hinting in the way of the really are but it's just cause cause it is never laid out for the reader. I did enjoy this book, I just felt it left a lot of the story un said but that could be done in Symphoni .
Legend, a great explanation of Legend's and Symphoni's past!!
I found Legend to be another superb book from TM Scott. it started out fast paced and continued thru to the end. it lets you know everything that happened between Legend (Sethos) and Symphoni and it tells you everything and does not disappoint. Everyone that liked Symphoni will love Legend. I still feel there needs to be a third book to explain what happened after Legend hooked up with MJ (Mehla Jay)
so this book is about gods and their minions. the main characters of the book is legend and symphoni, both likable although legend is nowhere near an alpha male. this book left me hanging, I have no idea where the story is going. I thought I did but then it all switched and when I thought I saw the ending it switched again. the story was walking a fine line between love and hate and in the end I was left confused.
I gave this a 4 1/2 star review. I love reading anything about the Titans and Olympians.I gave this a 4 1/2 star because I had a little trouble following who was talking, the story line was great, the characters were likable, I want to know what happens next. But this is a must read if you've already read the series.
Review by Christine Stockton: As if employing the mythology of the Titans in modern day settings was not already enough to fully engage any reader, this novel is amazingly fast paced and yet still manages to develop characters at the same lightning pace. A true 'page turner' leaving me gasping for the next in the series!!!! A true find for readers of many genres!!!!
I really liked it. I have to say that I found the story very interesting and would like to more about what abilities Symphoni has. Also I have to say that I felt bad for Legend and would like to know more about him and who he is. I think that the story was really good and I liked the fact that there was some greek gods and titans in it. I can not wait to read the next book :)
I like the story a lot. I like symphoni character a lot but I would love to learn more about her abilities. The story is pretty awesome and I like that it has Greek goods and the titans to. This story is easy to read but I was confused at some parts. But I want to know more about this story and can't wait to find out. I hope you give this story a chance if you like Greek gods. Happy Reading.
This story takes place right before Symphoni, and provides a wonderful precursor to it. T.M. Scott is a great storyteller, and this is a very entertaining unique twist on ancient mythology. You won't be disappointed.
I love Greek mythology so this was a fun read. Symphoni is a loyal and fierce warrior who I wish we knew more about. Legend is a broken Titan who only wants the one thing that keeps him sane. This was a great intro into a series I can't wait to read more of
This book is about the Titans and the Olympians. It is mostly about Legend and Symphoni. This book will leave you wanting to know more. A must read for everyone.
